Some of it is showing up on Toys 'R' Us's website but only as "available in stores." I haven't seen any in person yet. I imagine we'll see it in the states mid-february, as far as actual widespread release goes. Maybe March, though, considering the pushbacks a lot of stuff has gotten here. No clue for Singapore, I dunno how ya'll's releases usually differ from ours.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Hrafnblod replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
The cartoon actually does feature the Iron Spider costume. I think Black Suit spidey too. Would be cool if we could get a Miles Morales version, maybe he'll make his way into the show somehow (since he's from the ultimate universe in the comics). -

I'd bet so, I imagine the film version will look different, being based on an actor instead of a cartoon. -

I picked up the Lair, the cheapest set (forget the name) and the Dragon bike just to have Shredder and the four turtles. Not a huge fan of the smaller sets I have but the lair is a decent set. It doesn't really fit well into a display setup with other sets, imo, but I like the details on it a lot. I've heard the Shellraiser is good but couldn't fit it in my budget really and I don't need Dogpound. I hear that, I like the outside a lot, really wanna see the interior. -

Too much? It is similar to the Catwoman pursuit but there's only so much you can do in a $13 set with a motorcycle. -

Yeah it looks like they're kind of the new foot soldiers of this wave. -
That drop-out-of-the-cockpit feature is pretty neat. I'd wondered if it had that, from the initial box art pictures.

Looks to me like Leo at least has a face mask of some sort in the sub set. Can't tell with the other turtle. -

I actually like all four of those quite a bit. Nothing as bad as the dragon bike, plus I love that sub's design! -
I actually really like the batboat in the Freeze set, and the Riddler Chase batmobile. I'm not a fan of the various aircraft, as much. And I don't do a lot of bat-vehicle MOCs.

My mistake, then. All I've seen is negativity about Agents of Shield, didn't realize it was getting that much viewership. I haven't been watching it much, it didn't really grab me. Either way I don't think there's a ton of set potential as far as marketable characters and such go.

BTB has basically been killed. It was put on "hiatus" by CN after less than 10 episodes and as far as I know it never popped up again. The last few DC shows to go "on hiatus" were subsequently cancelled. So we won't be seeing any BTB stuff. We might get a Red Robin but I'm skeptical of whether we'll see a Red Hood. He's not really a kid-friendly character, but then, neither is Deadpool so who knows. Plus we've already seen our new Captain America and he isn't a variation based on The Winter Soldier. Unless a surprise polybag pops up we won't be seeing anything to do with The Winter Soldier this year. As for Agents of SHIELD I'll actually be surprised if it's around much longer anyway, response has not been all that positive to the show.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Hrafnblod replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't think they're Made in China in their entirety (because as far as I'm aware standard bricks generally aren't). I've never really managed to get my hands on one though, polybags are impossible to friggin' find in the states, it seems like. -
Pretty much, Even though I like the Batcopter this year I don't have a lot of actual use for it. I already had the Monster Fighters man-bats and some blue legs, so I basically had Man-bat already, and lord knows I have black suit Batman. So I essentially paid $20 for a Nightwing figure, as it is. Just like I'll be spending $50 for Batgirl and Robin, even though that set doesn't have a ton of appeal for me otherwise (assuming I don't bricklink them). When it gets to that point it really isn't so different for me to spend $20-30 on just Green Lantern without a bunch of extraneous vehicle piece I won't really be using for MOCs anyway. And I really don't want to wait that long for my Green Lantern. I believe over in Minifig Customization Workshop. Edit: Clone O'Patra beat me to it.

Unfortunately here stateside they do everything they can to condition us to use politically approved terms. It always makes it weird when talking about things in a more global context, but why would we be talking about anything but America anyway? On the note of the hair and the concerns that were pointed out before, for a buzzcut or other short style they could make a piece similar to the CMF grandpa's bald piece? I dunno if that would work though.

Some customs actually look just as good as official figures, or really close to it. I might go for a John Stewart GL since if we get one officially it's more likely to be Hal Jordan, I imagine. Plus $20-30 for a decent custom vs. a year wait for a $20-30 set I may not like the design of anyway (assuming he comes with Batman and a Batman villain or something like that), I don't budget that tightly. If I did I don't think I'd be buying Lego at all. Besides, worst case scenario I end up with 2 Green Lanterns. Considering how many black-suit Batmans I've got currently, and Spider-men for that matter, I can probably cope with that.

Yeah guys like Red Skull don't need (and really can't make use of) any headgear which is part of why I'm coming around on 'bald' figures. Plus actual bald guys like Lex Luthor. But Cap would really benefit from a Flash style helmet with the iconic wings on the sides. But no, not a peep about Green Lantern or a second DC wave this year from anywhere that I've seen. Looks like I'll be breaking down and getting myself a custom GL.

Fair enough, that's a valid point too. I just don't like the lack of headgear anyway, as a kid I was always obsessive about putting a hat on every minifigure I had. I'm not as OCD about it now but I still don't like it much.

We are getting one X-men set but it's not a movie tie-in 'cause, as just2good pointed out, Lego doesn't have the license.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Hrafnblod replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't have any of those ostriches. I want them, though, I need to pick up some of the animals I missed during my dark ages. Even if they're made in china, I haven't really found a lot of fault with the non-minifigure pieces from there. Probably because there's less fiddling with non-figures, but yeah. I don't have a lot of the LotR/Hobbit stuff but my.. whatever dwarf in Warg Attack that has the cape, and my Haldir both have the 'stiff' capes. So I haven't noticed softer capes for characters whose headgear always gets knocked off by stiff ones, I can barely keep Haldir or the Dwarf's hair on. Pretty much agree. But I also remember Qui-gon's hair in particular, from the first wave of Star Wars sets, had trouble staying on even with the softer capes of the time. Even if they fray a bit more I think I prefer the softer cloth to the kind that feels like it could snap in half. I haven't bought any ships since I came out of my dark ages, save bricklinking the Armada Flagship. But I could see it being a bit of a good thing for sales, my old Skull's Eye Schooner has pretty limp, shapeless sales, and always has. -
It was this thread I think but it was probably 50+ pages ago, haha. But yeah as said we'll probably (read: almost definitely) be getting the movie versions. Drax, Gamora and Rocket Raccoon may not look drastically different (though I think all the movie images of Rocket Raccoon that have leaked had an orange uniform) but Star-Lord's film version looks more like his 2008 comic version which has a very different helmet with red goggle-type stuff going on. Which I certainly hope is what we get because I much prefer that version of Star-Lord to the one on the billboard picture.

Counter-seconded, to pretty much all of that. Next year could actually be great for DC. Batman's bases will be mostly covered from this year's sets, aside from maybe a new batcave (though that seems unlikely so soon after the last one). Arkham will probably stay on the market, too, since D2Cs seem to hang around a bit longer than the standard sets. Next year could be a great opportunity to give us some more sets, hopefully with Green Lantern, but with a dearth of other DC media to base the sets on I might even be optimistic enough to hope for some Flash stuff to coincide with the show (as far as I know, it's got an ETA of 2015. Correct me if I'm wrong though). It might end up being the best year, if they don't half-megablocks things, since the Batman/Superman movie and accompanying sets are being pushed back, they might fill in with something other than Batman and Superman. Especially since Green Lantern and Flash (now that he has a headpiece in production) can be done without much in the way of new molds. Captain Cold, Heatwave, Gorilla Grodd, Mirror Master, Trickster, Sinestro (and other humanoid lanterns) could all be done without any actual new molds, and done well. Plus, I know it's crazy, but we might actually see set pieces instead of vehicles in those cases. All hypothetical though, of course.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Hrafnblod replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I hope this isn't off-topic but on the note of cloth parts, is it just me or is the cloth a lot "stiffer" these days? It crinkles and creases worse than I remember my older capes doing. Most of my really old star wars ones (while admittedly a bit frayed from being tossed in a lego bucket through my dark ages) have more of a soft feel to them that the new ones don't seem to really get even if I try to break them in a bit. The new ones almost feel like paper, they're so stiff (though that doesn't feel like the right word... starched?) I feel like I could give myself a paper cut with them. -
My wording was off, but you had said we hadn't got half a wave that isn't Batman. But we did, half of 2013 was Superman. Either way, when it comes to DC, like it or not a simple reality (that's been the case for a long time) is that Batman is what sells. There will always be more Batman representation in DC's merchandise, because there's more money in Batman than in Green Lantern, the Flash, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg put together. If they negotiate a new contract it will still be for DC licensed sets and since Batman sells best, it will be predominantly Batman. The difference is, if they're in danger of running out of Batman sets to make over a 3-4 year span, they're more likely to supplement (which is all we can realistically hope for, barring movie tie-ins like Man of Steel) with other DC characters. No contract renegotiation will change that, and even if it would they still re-contract every few years when the present one runs out, whether there's a break in set production or not. The more DC sets we get in the less amount of time, the more likely we are to see the things you want. With a break and a reboot you'll just get more of the same for certain. Also, Spider-man is bordering on becoming for Marvel what Batman is for DC, it's kinda messed up to be all in favor of more Spider-man but preferring DC just stop being made just because you like Spider-man more than Batman. They look pretty awesome, one way or the other!

That's what mine will look like as soon as I get around to ordering that cape. The CMF one is pretty good, too. I just like the angrier expression on the Chima fig.
