  1. Just arrived! A real life thumbup for this!
  2. My thoughts on this is that I always have the impression that creations having visible studs are more playable and studless ones more for display purposes. Perhaps I'm influenced from the past LEGO years. The thing is that when I first saw pictures from the new blue plane, I really liked that the wings were "covered" with studs. So, I would say 80% studs and 20% studless sections in a creation/set is my choice. The verdict? I want studs to show themselves!
  3. I took for granted that we are talking about a SYSTEM baseplate. I was probably wrong there. Well, if we are talking about a DUPLO one, cut it into tiny pieces, put the pieces into the Farm silo, build a factory bulding and VOILA!-our town has a LEGO factory specialized in red LEGO pieces.
  4. Hmmm... The first thing that comes into my mind is a circus MOC. Adding some tiles of different colours in order to create a pattern (star, lines, lettering etc) could work too. If the red baseplate was of a lighter shade, a great use would have been a number of open basketball courts. The last suggestion? A hardware warehouse where the forklift operator does some serious damage handling the buckets containing red paint.
  5. The teachers haven't yet commented since it's still a WIP but joining the RA definitely makes you to want to raise the quality level when it comes to reviews and photos and that's the great thing about RA. You learn how to be good and after some time you learn from your mistakes because you can recognise them. Believe me, teachers' advices and suggestions are always accurate and right in the spot.
  6. Thanks for the pictures Brick Town Talk! This is a must buy! I really like the helicopter! the colours are great and it doesn't seem to utilize too many <insert that tiresome argument> pieces. The limousine is also beautiful! Four minifigs? One more point in the pros. As, I've said, a must buy for sure!
  7. It's a WIP in the RA. I'm still working on it since Saturday. Bad weather, bad lighting... I hope I'll finish it in time and post it. EDIT: The set is great IMO! The pigs....
  8. Click on my BS link Rick.
  9. Wow! Cafe Corner and Market Street are still available? Great teaser Henri! It looks very realistic. Is that's the owner there or an AFOL who can't decide what to get?
  10. Amazing is the least I can say! Superb work reload! Your attention to detail is out of this world! I still can't believe that you've managed to include all the activities and elements of a plane in this MOC! Excellent! Off-topic: Your Flickr is one of the most interesting and enjoyable LEGO photostreams I have ever seen.
  11. Amazing work jaderchan! The colour scheme is perfect and I particularly like the entrance with the pait of columns on each side (the steps along with the square part of the columns match great ) and the slight angle you've given to the roof's front side. The interior is also great and clearly shows an elegant environment. It's great that you've used the classic smileys! Thanks for sharing!

    City 2010

That's the truth phoinix, you know the drill here. There is a standard price for every set and almost all (serious) retailers follow it. No sales, no % offs, no nothing. There is a store here in Crete that sells LEGO (not a famous one) and it was probably the only copy from this set since I didn't see another one on the shelves. I'm still curious on how a set that was expected to be released earlier made it to Greece. S@H.... Still a dream...

    City 2010

As I've already mentioned in the "what did you buy today" topic, I was surprised to see it in a physical store here in Greece. The price was 34.99 euro (ouch! ) but I have already come to a compromise regarding pricing here.
  14. That really made me laugh! Gyros ON! Actually, it's time for lunch. Hmmm.... I was also surprised when I saw it. I was going for the new small plane, the small car and the repair truck but they were expecting those next week. So, since I had already bought the Farm set two weeks ago, I couldn't resist on this.

    City 2010

I bought the Farm set 2 weeks ago and today I bought the Pig farm because I too thought that these two sets would look excellent together. I don't have to mention the price to you of course, since you know how things are here in Greece... Asta file, to portofoli ponaei!
  16. Just got back from shopping: Don't you just love pork?
  17. Welcome to Eurobricks sebby! One more AFOL who had a LEGO childhood has joined our big community! A city-town fan? Even better! It's great to hear that you got back into LEGO for good. About selling your childhood collection , it's a sad thing but don't worry, WE (AFOLS) control the wallet now and you can still make the comeback! Enjoy your stay in here and have lots of fun!
  18. Amazing MOC Captain'Spaulding! The overall design is great and it's not something you see everyday. There is a huge amount of very interesting things (don't you just love the two hobos scene? ) and the building itself has some great details. In the second picture, this building' s section seems to be made of tan bricks. I then realized that it was the lighting. Really, an outstanding creation! If that is your first town building then the future is more than promising. Keep it just like that! That was my first reaction too!
  19. I ordered my first modular building today, Cafe Corner! Probably one of the last copies that is left here in Greece.
  20. Beautiful collection of great sets! Your town layout looks great and I can easily predict that it's going to be very impressive when done. Some memorable sets in there... Thanks for sharing and looking forward for more pictures of course!
  21. What a great review! It's like a tribute to the Ninja theme. Excellent work Clone O'Patra! The Ninja theme was introduced during my dark ages and to be honest, only after leaving dark ages behind me I realized that a Ninja theme actually existed. The minifigs are just marvellous and it was one of the reasons for me to buy my first Ninja set. Great torsos, great faces and absolutely great head-gear. Modo arigato Clone O'Patra! P.S That pack of 6 photos in the end is just amazing!
  22. If that's not the definition of coincidence then which is the one?

    My city story

That is what an experienced MOCer like you does. If I were in that position, the least that I could have captured would have been a good hangover.
  24. Thanks for the great review mikey! The set looks nice I think. The truck isn't something too innovative and spectacular but the colour scheme does the difference in here. The colour combination is great and makes it look like something that was just introduced. The trailer looks nice too. Again, excellent colour combination and nice small details. It's true that both the truck with the trailer make a long vehicle but I think that we have to accept that. I'm not a fan of large 6-wide vehicles -classic town is still my thing- but seeing it from a neutral point of view, it certainly looks nice. Plus, after having bought many 6-wides, I have become familiar with those. I like the torso on the minifig. I have one of those from the 7993 Service Station and it's great. I even like how white legs match with the torso. A very interesting result. Overall, a very nice set that I'll surely get my hands on it.
