  1. A Nazgul for under 10 bucks can't be a bad thing. I skipped Weathertop, but the forecast is looking really grim for Nazgul in upcoming sets. I don't really care if they come with horses, but if that's the only set that ever includes any of them....sigh. Radagast versus the Twilight Witchking would be a perfect set, I agree with whoever mentioned that. A catch-up wave in Winter 2014 is what we're all hoping for - because the line could very well end in Summer 2014.
  2. I didn't say more Gollum scenes are out - they'll definitely throw cameos in for him in TABA at least, possibly TDOS. Gandalf mentions seeing Gollum skulking through Mirkwood a couple years after the events of the Hobbit. While Aragorn is still too young to appear in the Hobbit trilogy, capturing Gollum, we could definitely see his departure from the Misty Mountains accelerated, and him shadowing the cold trail of the Company.
  3. Sorry fella, Aragorn stuff is 100% not going to happen. The quote you featured is years out of date: The Hobbit film project has been stated time and again to tell the story of The Hobbit and only the events which occur during that timeline - like the Battle of Dol Guldur. Aragorn would be a young man during these events. The "bridge film" idea is half a decade out of date, a pipe dream brainstorm that never got out of the speculation stage. The Hobbit was two full films for the last few years, until the past 6 months where Jackson realized they could film additional footage to stretch it to 3 films. Look at how early AUJ was broken compared to where it used to end - the barrel escape was originally the final scene, and now that will definitely not occur until at least an hour into the second film - the company has to get through beorn's house, all of mirkwood and the elven kingdom before that. The release schedule makes things pretty clear: summer 2013 will be some LOTR sets and possibly a few more from "the missing page," december will be sets for TDOS, and summer 2014 will be TABA.
  4. I'd prefer the final battle. Easterlings should be put in a battlepack if they are made at all, I'd buy half a dozen at least...
  5. Cavalry army builder is easily the best American history lego ever released. Instant union army, right there.
  6. A Beorn set is still on the table. Chronological order is irrelevant and simply imposing fanboyism on lego's release sceme. Winter 2013 will have probably 5-7 sets all from The Desolation of Smaug. The spiders have already been accounted for, as have the barrels. Laketown is a big contender, and a set of Smaug himself is a given. Dol Guldur will probably also be on the table as a large set. That wipes out the high-price slots, so we could easily get stuff like the back-door, Beorn encounter or Thranduil's throne as medium or small range sets.
  7. This makes some sense, as it would allow double duty for a new Saruman hairpiece (Isengard set as well). I hope for 2 Elven Riders, Armored Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman, Gandalf, Elven flute-player and/or Figwit. No dwarves or Bilbo are really needed.
  8. Lord of the Rings lego is a 10/10. I love it, it's been my lifelong dream, and I'm buying pretty much every set. Official Game of Thrones lego would be beyond comprehension. The ultimate licensed Castle theme.
  9. Those are all automatic buys. Think about it - Wizard Battle - Isengard + Saruman, awesome Council of Elrond - Elrond, possibly an Ian Holm Bilbo, possibly Arwen. No way it would just be repacks of the Fellowship, although I would expect a Frodo, and maybe Gimli for his action role in the scene. Black Gate - Mouth of Sauron and Gandalf the White, too good to be true. Pirate Ship - Undead + Corsairs. Sure, unnecessary additional Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn, but it'll still be a great armybuilder. Hopefully the total adds up to under $250, it would be nice to have a lighter, but more high-impact wave (as oppose to something like Hobbit Wave 1, which has a lot of substantially priced, non-iconic sets like Warg attack and Barrel escape) In fact, I'm prepared to wager that 2013 will be the peak year for Hobbit lego, as we'll get a great LOTR wave and then the TDOS sets in December, which have way cooler settings and characters to include - no longer bound to get all 13 Dwarves, Lego can give us Bard, the Master of Laketown, Beorn, Thranduil, and settings like Laketown, the Elven realm, and the Lonely Mountain.
  10. Heh, 30k a year, that's a nice dream. 55 grand per year, but I'm still buying Lego...but little else.
  11. Thanks fella, appreciate it (needed the pic for my professor, who is teaching a class on Tolkien this january. Liberal arts...does it get any better?)
  12. Can someone repost the image of the Dwarf lineup with all their minifigure incarnations? I can't find it.
  13. I'm inclined to agree with you at this point. Between the Roman soldier, the Murmillo, the Caesar and the Officer, we will have a solid corps of Roman troops. I think a Terracotta warrior ought to be next on the list, it's the most iconic ancient Eastern military image (even though it's just a statue, lol). A Mongol Raider would be a welcome addition as well. India should be Lego's next recurring focus in the CMFs, I think a Maharajah and Sikh warrior would be easy enough, given the already existing turban piece. We got a dose of Arabia with Prince of Persia, those molds could see welcome reuse in CMF 12 and beyond.
  14. The 5 sets of note arrived from lego.com today. Going to wait til the holiday to crack em open though. Boxes look great, however.
  15. How are people seeing these parts? When I click the links there are no pictures.
  16. Grabbed 14 more elves at the local TRU, left a little under a dozen behind. So glad this polybag lined up with the bogo50.

  18. I rofl'd at this topic, was seriously expected just a pic of WW sitting on nothing. You have soared to new heights sir.
  19. When the previous Wild West line was out, I was about 5 or 6 and my mom didn't let us get any toys based around gunplay, so it was all medieval dismemberment for youthful me :) But now I'm 20 and dig the Wild West aesthetic, so any good army builders or cool sets here will be definite buys.
  20. Wait, we know what series 10 will be? When did that break? Really excited for the US Policeman. I have a craving for some Lego The Wire.
  21. Excellent review. IMO this is a poor set through and through, unfortunately. Yazneg is the only normal-scale identifiable villain in Wave 2 and he looks *terrible* - Lego really dropped the ball. The Mordor Orcs should have had new printing, or had at least one more included. Thorin's braids are awkward, although axe-head is one of the cooler Dwarves. The Wargs are a great new mold, although a white one makes the pack ineffective for army building. The bricks of the set would be fine as filler if this was 29.99, but instead we get a 50 dollar set (for 400 pieces) with a tree that rather resembles a spinning, moldy dog turd - and weird looking rock formations. Total waste of parts when we could have had more minifigures or wargs. Still getting this one, but I was really, really on the fence.
  22. Above Average - would be Outstanding if available en masse and with a proper cape. Still an excellent figure, and I hope we see his armor reused in a Last Alliance or Rivendell set.
  23. Above Average. The trees still look a bit awkward, but this one is for the minifigures, plain and simple - the rest is a glorious parts pack, begging to be scrapped for MOCs. Red leaves are perhaps the most significant new piece in Wave 2.
  24. A Lothlorien set in that style would be acceptable, as long as it came packed with good Elf armybuilders - Galadriel would be in there obviously, but hopefully some Lothlorien Elves and some in Galadhrim armor.
  25. Similar experience to Deathleech. I had given up on most of Lego until LOTR came on the radar - I'm committed to purchasing each wave in full (excepting overpriced or redundant sets). Star Wars used to be my focus but the ridiculous pricing a mediocre lineup has left me cold for the past few years.
