This is a magnificent review - it's also such a joy to see pictures of a completely "new" set from my childhood. Thanks again :)

Rufus's 375 Yellow Castle Restoration Project
Lorentzen replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A really fine, unused original sticker sheet from the 375 set just sold for 153 USD on eBay (the only stickers that were not there were the two for the flagpole) just fyi - because I really didn't think that there were any sticker sheet of this fine quality out there anymore. -
Rufus's 375 Yellow Castle Restoration Project

Sorry to bump this thread but I must say that your restoration project has left me in awe. Your set looks so extremely wonderful, and your decal work is excellent! I think I'll try this sometime in the future. I've done it with the Black Seas Barracuda, the Imperial Trading Post and the Eldorado Fortress :) For those interested, they can check out my restored Black Seas Barracuda in my review of the set here on Eurobricks. -
I do it sometimes. I once bought the Skull's Eye Schooner on eBay without the rare trader (Steve) and then later found his torso for cheap in another eBay lot. I think the idea is good - plus the actual 'hunt' is exciting :) Also, I recently Bricklinked the Cafe Corner from different sellers. I spent 570 dollars, but including were the rarest bricks in duplicates that I am now re-selling on Bricklink with a small profit in order to reduce the final fee for the Cafe Corner. It's good fun :)

Oh my goodness! You are so talented - great great building and interior
-
The CC instructions just sold for 85 dollars on eBay... crazy to think that it's actually cheap!!! I am debating whether or not to buy the instructions because the colors aren't coming out well at all when I print it- Hell, even when looking at it on my otherwise good computer screen :/

oh.my.god I need some time to soak it all in. This town looks aweinspiring - you have built some great MOCs, but to see them alongside the official Modulars and the Medieval Market Village, the Big Ben and the Tower Bridge among other things is just great. I really love your MOCs on their own also though edit: one thing that I think needs more work is the green area in front of your city. Its sub-par compared to the MOCs, the layout, the official sets and the modded sets :)

Wow I really love this MOC - what an excellent creation. It's clean and nice and just awesome all around
-
You're right. That's not bad at all. I misread the other post - I thought it was 350 USD - that would have been extremely cheap!
-
Yeah, but that's the price now... The auction isn't over yet - it'll be sold for much more
-
megabluck me - this looks so awesome, I want to eat it
-
Yeah, your work is simply stunning. It's definitely a great remake of the CC. I've checked out your flickr account... Holy crap that's some incredibly detailed, beautiful work
-
Wow... Each building is fantastic! My favourite is definitely the one with the round corner towers.
-
I love to build the models. It's like therapy for me so I never have any set assembled for very long. I break them up, store each set separately and ready for a rebuild later. Aside from that I have a huge box with various bricks for me and my kids to play around with. I don't get the whole 'build it once and let it collect dust' thing. LEGO is meant to be built with :)

Haha, yeah you should delete the wanted list, and make a new one where you unclick the e-mail notifications...
-
Bricklink has a feature called Wanted - here you can make a wanted list from 'parting out' a set. It's difficult to explain - I hope someone else sees this, so they can explain better, but you should play around with the features though :)

Yeah, shipping prices really kill us europeans... I tried to buy most of the CC bricks from Danish/EU Bricklink stores to save on shipping, but bricks tend to be more expensive in European Bricklink stores compared to US stores - it's kind of a loose/loose situation at times :(
-
Lucky you :) What did it cost you in shipping fee? It's a heavy motherf...
-
The massive price (570) was merely for shipping fees and the bricks required to build the actual set...
-
Okay, you can laugh and point fingers at me, but I am just done Bricklinking the Cafe Corner with all the correct pieces and colours... Including shipping I ended up spending 570 dollars!!! - I chose to buy all bricks from BL and not go through my own collection first 570 dollars seems A LOT and it is, but the whole process was so much fun. I have just finished the bottom floor last night
-
Yummy - thanks grogall I have just begun building CC after Bricklinking it - it's such a pleasure to build such a massive and detailed set... I am now hooked more than what is healthy on these Modular buildings. This set looks fantastic too, I must say
-
This looks very very nice! I really like the clean design broken up by those earth colours in the walls. I feel that the tower should be somewhat taller due to how 'fat' it is ;) - other than that, there's nothing to say than 'excellent MOC' I can't wait to see where this is going - 20 48x48 plates... sounds awesome
-
oh Wow - that is really impressive work!
-
It's nice to see that people are still reading this article :)

Yeah, I totally agree on this. That is one awesome build. But so is the rest of your MOC - and it really fits perfectly with the official sets. Too bad I couldn't give you all five points
