I saw in the Pirate-index, that an attempt had been made, to start a series of Box Art "Reviews" - and then I wanted to add some of the new Lego Pirates boxes - plus some old classic boxes from 1989-1992 6242 - Loot Island box art Front Back The sides: Comments: The quality of these boxes and their artwork is to me very high. The pictures of the actual set, along with the close ups of functionality and close up of the minifigs makes this box art some of the best by TLG

I saw in the Pirate-index, that an attempt had been made, to start a series of Box Art "Reviews" - and then I wanted to add some of the new Lego Pirates boxes - plus some old classic boxes from 1989-1992 This is the first of 11 different boxes - we've already seen the new boxes in the numerous great set review threads, but I wanted to do this properly, so I'm bringing pictures of the boxes I have in my possession... and maybe at one point, we will have threads with detailed pictures for all the Lego Pirate Boxes ever made 6240 - Kraken Attackin' The Front The Back The sides A closer look Comments: I am in love with the new Pirates design. The colours of the boxes are perfect, and the actual sturdyness of these boxes is pretty amazing. The pictures showcase the playability quite well, I must say

Amazing thread I might have some stuff to contribute with

I've created this thread so we can help each other determining the average price for each Pirate set (old and new) This could be a useful thread in the future, if people help out with the knowledge they have from looking at eBay auctions i.e. the Black Seas Barracuda - what is the average price for this set on American, British or German ebay? - in MISB - Complete, w. box and instructions - Almost complete It would be a great way to keep people from making bids that are way too high I'll start: Yesterday a 100% complete 6273 Rock Island Refuge sold for 56 euro - no box included Sunday, a 100% complete 6276 Eldorado Fortress sold for 34 UK Pounds - no box included So - are these prices about average?

Thanks for that link I really want these cards...
-
I just stumbled upon these at the danish shop@home Lego store... I think these playing cards look awesome - they're not too expensive either

I'm really impressed with how much text you managed to put into a review of such a small set... I agree with you that this is one of the best impulse sets - I have a couple of these sets, and they are great both as army builders, but also because of the crate, fish, fire and the staff - just like the Soldier's Arsenal is a great army builder due to the minifig and his weapons... I really think that TLG has spent a lot of time thinking about how to make the Pirates line as good as possible

Although I can't help you, I'd still love to see your WIPs of both the ship and your huge Fort
-
I have a whopping total of 5........ ;) I can't wait until they release the new pirate sets in Denmark, so I can buy some of those nice looking dark blue ones

The design of that little stand is some of the most clever I've seen from Lego - so few bricks and yet so detailed and real-looking. Great little set

I really think that Red Beard Runner is almost awful to look at - Brickbeard's Bounty however is a real beauty. The only thing bad about it is the big childish skull on the sails, but that can easily be replaced. Red Beard Runner is difficult to change into something good looking, and for me, it's a totally unnecessary feature to have the sails and masts break... there's so many things in the design that they could have done much much better, and the colour scheme is terrible. But I'd love to own the ship so I could spend a lot of time rebuilding it

Wow - that is really a great idea - I love seeing new ideas in MOCing

Yes those are the sets I'm talking about It's strange that I found them in such a small town as Skagen, when they aren't in any of the shops in my hometown which is a much larger city... I guess there's no rhyme or reason to this
-
Great review - it's different from the two other reviews I've seen on here I also have this set, and I enjoy it very much, especially the colours The minifig is very very nice indeed

I just stumbled upon the two Pirate Impulse sets in a Danish toy store in the city Skagen I wasn't aware of the sets' availability in Denmark yet, as I thought they were to be released in March along with the rest of the Pirate line. What usually happens when a new theme comes up? Does Lego sell the impulse sets in advance of the release date of the main sets?

You can try to clean your sails by putting them in a bowl of water, with a little bit of soap, and have them there for a few minutes - then pull them up from the water and place them (still wet) on a flat surface, and let them dry - that will remove many of the creases. If it's not enough, then do it a couple more times - that's what I did with my SES and CC sails (you can se how beautiful they look in my SES pictorial review) Good luck - it looks like a fun project edit: oh yeah, I even ironed mine, and nothing bad happened, just make sure the iron board is real thick and soft, so the iron won't burn in "marks" from the iron board)

Very nice review indeed - I still have some of these forrestmen sets from when I was a kid, but alas they are all incomplete. I will however buy the missing pieces from bricklink some time this year. I will do so with all my sets that I still have instructions for, because they are all very special to me. Thanks for taking me down memory lane

Ok - thanks - I guess that's what we're doing all the time ( <- not trying to be a jackass )

I'm also interested in knowing what you mean by contributing?

But to stay on topic > You forgot to show us a picture of the Forbidden Island, 6270

Is there anymore Pirates to be released this year?
Lorentzen replied to Hayato's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think that LEGO will release new sets every year or so, for a period of 5 years maybe. Just like in the 1990's People are more than ready for Pirates again (some of us haven't even been un-ready ) -
I just came home with this little set:
-
That's just great - I wasn't expecting this when I clicked the topic. Nice addition of a monkey tail and a parrot's "tail" See if you can come up with other animals - you def. have the imagination to do it
-
I like the design, but I don't like how the colours are all a mess - I'd say that the different colurs could have been placed more wisely so it didn't have to look so disturbing.

You did a great job with this Transformer - I was a huge fan when I was a kid, of both original Transformers and LEGO, so finding this MOC was a nice surprise :) I think you managed to create a great face out of "nothing"
