  1. Good that you're starting on a ship again. There's not much to say something about, but my only suggestions are to make the black part more in a curved way on the hull sections, just like CGH did. And it would be nice if you made the side galleries more curved inwards instead of going in a more edgy form like you did. I know that's a bit difficult, but challenges are there to be conquered and I think it will make the ship look more realistic, so you could give it a try. Good luck! I'm looking forward to the next update.
  2. That is great Very original design. Not just straight walls and some towers but an interesting and curved structure. The modularity is also well done. With all the curves in it, it must have been quite a challenge but it turned out well. There are also enough colour shades and details in it. Anyway, I like it!
  3. I like the brown-black colourscheme. That makes it look more realistic, altough some colours wouldn't be bad either ofcourse. If you want to go for a bit more historical accuracy, here are my tips: Except for the stern, the whole ship looks quite a lot like an 18th century brig. In that case, the only changes you have to make is remove the elevated cabin in the back, make the stern wider and attach a spanker sail to the main mast. But if you want to go for a galleon, you could keep the stern, give it a forecastle and change the rigging a bit, to more like this: Anyway, as a first ship in 'this' style you did a rather nice job. Keep it up
  4. It has already been posted in the Special LEGO themes forum by Hoexbroe himself. (EDIT: here it is) But personally I don't see that as a problem because it's a very nice ship and it can have some more attention in this forum. It could be nice if you pm him about it though, so he can check all the comments
  5. You did a great job here. I made a brickfilm myself one day and it took a lot of time. Still yours is a lot better. The story is indeed a bit strange and only half of it contains pirates, but it didn't bore me. The picture quality is excellent and so are the special effects. My only small tip for other movies is to make them move a bit slower. Especially in the beginning of your movie they walked unnaturaly fast. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  6. You beat me to it Well, that means it's indeed a good MOC. Your bottle design is excellent. I'd like to see more/different types of ships in a bottle like this. How about a POTC ship-in-bottle series? Nice job anyway.
  7. I made some torso's a while ago. I think they will fit well here. They are all from the movie "Master and Commander" but they can be used for any minifig in the age of sail. Sailor with coat (Barret Bonden) Captain suit under the coat (Jack Aubrey) Captain suit under the coat -back (Jack Aubrey) Sailor/Preserved (Killick) Surgeon (Stephen Maturin) Lieutenant (Mowett) Lieutenant 2 (Pullings)
  8. It looked good already but the brown makes it look even more realstic. Good job. Your ships looks quite similar to this one: (link) So in that case, your ship is becoming a 50 to 74 gun ship (you decide) of the period 1760-1820. If the horizontal lines will become the decks, I'd suggest to make them a bit more curved. I would also remove the forecastle, but keep the railings a bit higher than amidships. The cannons are very nice by the way. I've seen the black barrel used before but using them for normal cannons (non-carronades) is new to me. The short carronad you made is perhaps a bit too short, although the used techniques are good and the telescope fits very well there. And I think the black barrel on your short barreled cannon makes it look too much like a carronade, but on the long barrel that's not the case IMO. And my last suggestion is to make the part where the figurehead is attachted to, more curved, like on the picture I showed you. Good luck. Keep up this great piece of work
  9. It looks nice. It certainly improved compared the first update. I do think that the stern would look better 6 studs wide. In 1670-80 the stern became wider, but then it also became lower. And I'm also not sure about the window. I believe on most ships it was placed on a higher level than the gunports, as you can also see here. I believe that Bonaparte's Nuestra Senora also has the sloped masts so perhaps he can help you with that. And outside of these things I think it's coming along nicely. I like the colourscheme and it has a very nice curve. Keep it up
  10. Looks great again What I would change is the brown line in the railings (where the supports are attached to) into another colour. I'd make it perhaps black, dark red, dark brown or something like that. At least a colour that's different than the decks. And what are the gaps in the railings for? Are they for firing under protection? Outside of that you're on your way of making a great frigate so keep it up (And I don't see any problem in raising the black gunline with one plate)
  11. Yes I enjoyed it too! And I can say the same about the Achille. I'll post the pictures as soon as I get Blackmoor's.

  12. Disgustingly bad sets But very good review. It's a review of a competitive brand, but you show how much better Lego is. That's a good thing I do like the silver sword and the brown musket though. But outside of that there's nothing good to say of this.
  13. No! Keep this thread alive! I think one of the most important things about this forum is to share techniques and improve MOCs.You don't have to name every single technique and give credit for it. If you know some members that gave you inspiration, you can name them. I don't even think it's possible to name all the credit techniques of ships of this size. That's not a problem. There just are some famous techniques (Greenhair's tumblehome, Perfectionist's headrails for example) that you can credit but you don't have to mention everything. So please just post your update
  14. Agreed. Outside of the blue parrot and the mushrooms it doesn't look very divine. But indeed the techniques look nice and I like how he made the water running down the fountain.
  15. I believe the second link doesn't work properly. When I click it I only get the same picture in the same size but in a new window. But the first link does work. I'm not sure if the curve is smooth enough. It looks a bit edgy curved with whole studs on such a small ship. But I think the techniques you're using are quite good and on bigger ships it will work. So could you post some better pictures of Polyphemus?
  16. I didn't look close enough but the story behind this is on his Flickr page. It would be great indeed if he joined EB.
  17. Although the story of this MOC is still a bit mysterious to me (where did the blood come from?) this is a great Flickr find by TazManiac. It's full of detail and the floor is also excellent, SNOT with plates. So here it is: [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] EDIT: Forgot to give you the link. Here it is: Why Kids Shouldn't Be Pirates by Stormbringer (also known as Unitronus Galaxy), on Flickr EDIT EDIT: Here's the story behind it: The captain might look like a mere child to his crewmen, but he is the son of a powerful and feared pirate lord of the southern seas. Because of his heritage, the Kid is a very disturbed adolecent that no one wants to upset (or risk him throwing a tantrum). He has this bad habit of killing (including his fellow crewmen) when he doesn't get his way, especially when someone has the guts to tell him to "clean his room". Instead of pillaging for gold and riches of a traditional pirate, he desires what any other spoiled brat would want to do, such as eating lots of candy and keeping a messy room. Hmm.. 2 edits.. I should take more time for it next time
  18. Looks excellent. Comparing it to the model ship, the only tip I can give is making the figurehead/bow beam thing more horizontal. It's too steep now IMO. Good luck. I'm looking forward to the next update again
  19. Nice find Derfel! I think I prefer the normal minifigs too, but these are also very clever. It's been made in a clear style and I think this is very close to as perfect as one can do with giant figs.
  20. Looks promising, and impressive! I wish I had that much gold I agree with Perfectionist about looking for more pearl gold parts and I think that you even can make some different building techniques just with jumpers. Like on the first picture of the new update. There you could put jumpers between those on the top row and place another row on top of it to secure it. Hope you get what I mean. Good luck anyway!
  21. Welcome to Eurobricks! That's a nice MOC you're sharing with us. The plants indeed make it look realistic, and they make it look like a tropical or spanish port or something like that. I also like the crane design, and all the busy people also make this MOC more interesting. Well done.
  22. The shape doesn't look bad. It's funny to see those minifigs upside down What kind of ship are you trying to make? Some examples of ships of about 46 metres are this and this one.
  23. Thanks for sharing! These ships look quite promising: But also this one: If TLG makes this one in real, I have to buy it!
  24. You did a good job here. The colourscheme is nice and I like the stern view a lot. Perhaps the whole stern+side galleries section could be made a bit larger though. The highest side galleries are almost as long as the space between 4 gunports on the vasa. I know it's a bit of a fantasy ship, but it may look odd on the finished ship when the stern is too small. Outside of that I like this very much and I'm looking forward to the next update. Good luck.
