Radagast and the trolls are what we missed from the first film, think we are all need news, just one set to talk about would be good.

I just picked up 2 black gates from the amazon sale and am wondering if I should do it like this or keep the gate the size it is and add wells next to each tower.

I don't think there will be more than 4 hobbit sets because we have the 2 sets from the first wave, so film 1 has 4 sets and film 2 has 6 sets, if anything we are missing things from the first film like the trolls or radagast.

Well we kind of have treebeard but if we are not going to get a set they should have called the ent treebeard in Orthanc and it should have had Merry and Pippin in the set as it was badly needing for figs. As for the Balrog how can we not get that, one of the most important screens in the film and something that people remember, it would make a great set and would not have to cost too much. I think we at least need a little mount doom set as it is the goal of the whole film and we could do with another way to get sam and then there is Gondor! I do wonder how Lego have come up with the sets they have, wave two does seem odd, although I did really want a black gate. If we know this then Lego must know this, the outside hope is that they are saving some of the best sets for when they don't have the hobbit films out, so they are planning a long long run of sets. I not so sure, the sets get made well before Lego know if they are selling well or not. LOTR wave two might be small because of Orthanc and the hobbit might be small because we already have 2 sets from that film so in a way it was the first film that got less sets.

This is a long one, I never thought I would end up getting all the LOTR sets but I have been picking them up one by one over the last year and a few weeks ago I found Weathertop 75% off which left only Mines of Moria to get from the first wave and I had a good voucher so was able to get that at a good price too. Then I thought I am only 2 hobbit sets away too so I got one of them that I was missing. Then the amazon sale happened here in the UK so I got 2 black gates and the Corsair Ship 33% off I just need the two hard to find sets Orthanc and barrel escape, my plan is to get Orthanc in oct when there is double VIP points and use them to get barrel escape cheaper. I have never thought about getting all the sets as they cost so much but have been finding them one by one in sales and when I got close just ending up buying the rest. It kind of makes it a lot easier not having to pick which sets to get and just getting them all. It helps that it looks like the waves are getting smaller and that makes me think I can get them all. Anyway I have never spent so much on lego than I have this month and it all started with a 75% off set which cost me a lot more than I thought.

and how cool would a Oliphant set be, you would not need to know anything about it, kids would see it and wanted it without ever seeing the movies, the same could be said for a fell beast or balrog. Any battle seen could work, lots of cool looking figs fighting with cool weapons. Council of Elrond had no conflict really and the mouth of sauron and pirate ship are both things we never expected to see. The only thing I can think is that an Oliphant, fell beast and balrog might all need new molds. LOTR has some great battles and for that matter castles but we have only see the battle at helm's deep so far, surly they would see well.

ok so this is brothering me why would there not be a 3rd wave, reason to think there will be: - They paid for the license so why would they not use it - There is interest because of the hobbit films - There will be a summer gap of no new sets - Wave 2 did not have the most iconic sets we are missing (balrog, mount doom) - No Gondor at all, if it was the last wave would they not have given us one Gondor set that if it was the last wave people would pick up every one they could find for arm builders - Lego is making more sets for AFOL because of our spending power - Orthanc shows lego has faith in LOTR - In orthanc why not call the ent treebeard as it would help sell the set unless we were getting a treebeard. I still think we will get another smaller wave next year with some sets we are missing like treebeard and balrog and then a bigger 4th wave based on Gondor once the hobbit is over but still around and coming out on DVD. And maybe even another orthanc size set if it has sold well, although this could see a big hobbit set too.

Hi Rick I think this is a really nice idea and that eurobricks should support it and the hard work that Stinky has put into it, it would be a shame if it were to die out because it drops down the forum. It is not a normal topic where the same people come back to it time and time again and I think it would be good if it was pinned. Anyway just my thoughts, thanks for the hard work Stinky

^ that would be ok I like my arm of Eomers better than the Rohan Soldier as there is a lot more printing and I think they look better.

I would be more than happy with a dollhouse style with an open back like most of our LOTR sets but I don't like 3315 Friends Olivia’s House. I think at the price and given the number of figures I am worried how much they have left for the house. It is relatively flat house but you can still use lots of smaller bricks rather than a few big bricks. more creator house, less friends house

DO we know if the rest of us will get anything then? do we have a UK Calendar for September. I cant wait to see the October calendar as its my birthday and was planning on getting orthanc and was hopping for something good but guess I have to keep waiting for that.

a 4th wave would come after the 3rd hobbit wave but still be in time for the hobbit to come out on Blu-ray/DVD and I am sure there will still be a lot of interest with maybe a complete 30 disk DVD for LOTR and hobbit coming out, the 4th wave could be a big wave like the first one as I don't think it will need to make room for the next hobbit sets as I think there will only be 3. And there are lots and lots of important sets that will still need. At the moment it looks like the waves are getting smaller although we don't really know about the hobbit yet, I think 2 more waves is a must. We need a like button for posts like this

^ that's what Im worried about lots of large pieces and not much of a build that will not fit well with what I have. I cant wait to see the house, I didn't want to spend a lot on this theme but if they are going to give us the whole family and the house in one set then I am in, much better than how many sets you need to get 4 TMNT. I just hope the house is good, open back is ok but I hope its a good size and does not just use large pieces.

I think lego are teasing us by giving us just one x men set and showing us they can make x men sets then making us wait to see if we will get any more.

Does anyone think that lego has waited to see how well the line has done and how well orthanc has done and that we will get a big £200 - £300 Minas Tirith if they have done well. They must have faith in the line to give us orthanc and it does look like lego are happy to put out more big sets now so they must be doing well too.

I love the black gate but yes I will buy two cos it is too small. Also the wizard battle is the best £12 set we have got so far although the first one was great until we got the same figs in other sets and as freebies
