Nope. Too late. I just scrapped the MLP game. Onto something new. I just wish people wouldn't be so wishy-washy with their affections -

Wolverine has a lot of costume variations, but this one seems to be his Astonishing X-Men one. It's the first wave, and Wolverine is the Batman of Marvel, so it's safe to assume there will be others. I'd personally like to see the 1980's costume, but it's been retired too long, I fear. And Brickdoctor, here's some classic Magneto! Lovely purple! I'm pretty happy with the Magneto figure. Deadpool is well done too, but I'm not so attached to that character.

I like them both I'm happy to see the sets today, but sad that they tend to be so movie oriented. If any of you have seen the upcoming Superman shots, you'll know the Superman minifig is based on the classic comic (though the unreleased Green Lantern definitely wasn't). So, I'm a little disappointed at the degree to which the Marvel sets are based on movies. Wolverine without his mask is, for lack of a better term, Hollywood. It sucks. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees. Wolverine without his mask may as well just be naked... And he used to have a hairy back before he was in the movies, so I doubt the figures will have that. Nope, that's someone else's Wolverine. Thor, Loki, and Cap look alright. Apathetic about Hawkeye. Magneto and Deadpool look as I might hope. Iron-man has looked ducked up since first look last summer, so I much prefer this special version. It's a weird feeling to be a 25 year fan of the characters, and an AFOL, but be forced to choose from a selection of figures targeted at the masses who have no real interest in them. I suppose Star Wars brings out the geek in people, and was successful enough to get around to exploit the corners of its universe. If Super-Heroes gets a long enough license, maybe we'll see a proper Wolverine, or maybe even a proper X-Men series.... Unfortunately, the X-Men isn't Batman For the time being, expect me to pick up at least half of this stuff, and deal with the shame and frustration through overeating and drinking.

I put this off a few days, but congratulations to you both I think you're both solid additions to the EB family.

While I enjoyed this, I found it a little baffling. I have seen a few news interviews here and there, but didn't quite know what was going on. But the important thing is, I enjoyed it. I started buying heavily (look at me, using old drug slang to describe LEGO buying ) in 2008, and though I bought back into 2005 and earlier, I never picked up this set, and never bought the one after. I've watched ROTS about three times, but never remembered much. If anything, I remember the movie better through LEGO and the LEGO Star Wars game. Still, I don't remember this ship. I find it hard to have a real opinion on a Star Wars set I haven't seen in action. And looking forward to your next baffling review!

Some hosts try to word every role a little differently, but I've tried it, and it's a hell of a lot of work. I've played a few games where the role PMs were posted in the day one thread, and I think it was good it was done here on day two. I realize the hosts wanted a surprise for players, but there were somewhat unfair advantages to town with it being not in the open. Besides the "Easter Egg" thing, I was for all intents and purposes cleared by the host when the roles were posted (except with Zepher, because he was using the other logic) showing that scum didn't know the term "Virgin." I'm sure there could be some possibility that it could have worked for scum, but I don't see how. I did something similar during the Forest game, where I knew I was working for "the Baker" (since that was part of town power roles) and asked a handful of players about their connection to the baker. After I got very politely asked if I was using the role PM to my advantage by Dragonator, I stopped. I hadn't considered it like that, but I saw it, and I haven't followed that strategy since, and ignored my Easter Egg this time around. I also tried to keep it simple when making Bloodbrick II, where everyone got the same role info, and the scum got a summarized one for the town. Posting the roles up front is a good way to solve the problem though, if there are no secret twists.

I'd be interested to hear it. I have no doubt that you're a bigger Bat-fan than I am. I was ultimately an X-Men fan at heart. In comics, Two-Face has a two-faced ( ) coin, with one side scratched out. The one in this set is only one-sided, but you can see the profile of a woman on it if you look closely. Here is someone's model of it, a little more detailed than the LEGO one

As much as I've been a fan of the licensed series from LEGO, the comic nerd in me is a little deeper than the Star Wars nerd in me, and is certainly deeper than the Harry Potter nerd in me. So, the Super Heroes line is quite a kick for me, though to be honest, I'm looking a lot more forward to the Marvel line. Still, somewhere between 1986 and 1991, I was a Batman reader, and have enjoyed the exploits of the Dark Knight. And I wasn't paying attention when the first Batman line came out, so it's great to get a second chance at it. This is one of the key mid-priced sets for early 2012, so lets see how it is Set#: 6864 Name: The Batmobile and Two-Face Chase Theme: Super Heroes Year: 2012 Pieces: 531 Minifigs: 5, Batman, Two-Face, two henchmen, police officer Price: 5,880 yen MSP: U.S.$49.99, £49.99 Peeron Brickset Bricklink The box I like the box art. The Super Hero font is really DC looking, and I wonder if they'll keep it when the Marvel line comes around. I'm a little irritated at the almost comic sans font in the lower left, if only because it looks like the kind of font a non-comic reader would associate with comics, but it's fair enough. I doubt most buyers will be comic readers. The TV shows and movies have a lot more impact. The concept for the picture is a little funny, since it seems that Batman is there before the crime was committed. All the same, it's professional. An interesting point is that they are selling a version of Batman that was retired a long time ago. The Batman logo was the bat on yellow for a few decades, but hasn't been around for a while. It was taken out during the Frank Miller Batman issues, and disappeared in the 2000's (check out a neat history of Bat-costumes here ) The back isn't particularly clever. At this point, I barely consider flick-fire missiles a feature. I've heard the collectible mini-figure series seven comes with flick-fire missiles. Anyway, the winch on the truck twists. The booklets Two books and a comic. The comic is well done enough. As people who've encountered me enough on his site might know, I take comics pretty seriously, so it seems like a pastiche of comics rather than a genuine one, but, like the font, it's to be expected. I don't buy LEGO for high quality comics. The Build There are four bags. Two are for the Batmobile, one for Two-Face's jeep, and the last for the bank. I don't have a lot of building time these days, so I appreciate numbered bags. There's a sticker sheet. I can understand that it's pretty necessary in a set like this, particularly with the orange and purple pieces. Part One - The Batmobile I'm not so thrilled about this figure's design. The first thing is the black Batman costume, which is pretty much a Tim Burton 1989 thing. As a kid, I got why a black Batman suit was "realistic," but as an adult, I realize that you can't go into a Batman story asking for realism, and enjoy the more comic-booky suit. But, I know they can't throw the same costume into every set, so it's fine. The second thing though is a bigger design complaint, the white band on the head. I'd rather the eyes were built into the mask or something. Since this is basically the same as the last series of Batman figures, I'm sure TLG had a lot of prototypes before settling on this one, and I assume they were all less desirable. Still, this head is useless without the Bat-mask, so I don't know why they bother with the eyes. Smiling, cocky Batman. Yeah, okay This is the back of the figure, and showcases Batman's rippling Bat-muscles. That's an intimidating mini-fig... And he knows it. This is him next to one of the old Batmen I bought off of Bricklink. There is certainly more definition to his face now, cheek bones and the like. It's not a huge difference, but I'm happy that they're always adding a little more detail and styling where they can. The belt is a little bolder than before too I think it's a little funny, but he comes with a batarang in this and other sets. It's a "comic" image of Batman. I photographed the build of the Batmobile at every tenth step or so. It's a very dense creation. I've gotten very used to 'shell' style LEGO builds, so when I see a creation that is pure brick, at this point, I'm thrown off. The innards are very patriotic American colors. The pieces stack up, and the sleek little vehicle comes together. The flick fire launcher is added early on, and set at a peculiar angle. There are a lot of tile pieces, and in a few places, they are hard to put in. It was an interesting build. I'm guessing because of this, a tile remover is thrown into the set. I've never seen that before. As we go along, the Bat-exhausts and Bat-flames are added. Around the 75% point, Batman himself enters the vehicle. Some fins and wheels later, and we have a Batmobile. More in the final part of the review. Part two- Two Face's jeep Two-Face and his two thugs. I find it amusing that they based one on Eurobricks' own moderator, Stash2Stixx. Congratulations! They come with one of the new LEGO crowbars too. This is a fantastic piece, that you should get a hold of any way you can. It is designed to remove pieces, and is crucial for disassembling large SNOT-builds. It's my favorite piece of 2011  Two color printing on these guys. Again, it's a "comic" choice to have them all in orange and purple, rather than in other Two-Face designs, like black/white or something more tasteful. I'd be more satisfied with that, but I have to accept I'm not the target audience. I would have really liked Two-Face to have come with a second face print, something more fun. One of the things I like about Two-Face is his capacity for giddiness. When that coin turns up good, Two-Face needs to smile! Two-Face comes with his coin, which is a little abstract looking. Coins are not the sort of thing that LEGO can do well. This vehicle is not particularly surprising. It seems pretty much like a number of other LEGO vehicles from the past, except being split into two colors. I may just be imagination-deficient, but I doubt these pieces will become MOC favorites either. It comes together well enough, no complaints. More views at the end! Part Three- The Bank I have to (stupidly) confess, I didn't even see the bank on the box when I bought this. I thought it was just two vehicles. About halfway through building the jeep, I realized there was a whole other bag. This one isn't as deep as the other two are, but it's not a throw-away build either. So, this comes with a cop. I quite like this outfit. A lot of LEGO police officers are dressed in black, so it's nice to see one done in blue The bank is fairly bare-bones. A computer from 1980, a safe platform, that's about it. The bank has a nice door that is new for me, sectioned in three parts. In the back, a safe is dropped in. The last safe I saw was from an Agents set, and I think this compares well. The Finished Product So, as a nearly lifelong comic fan, I have to say I was fairly pleased to hold this build. There is no true Batmobile. It changes from decade to decade, and from media to media. This strikes me as an 80's-90's design. I think the fins could be more elegant, but I like the sleekness overall. In particular, I love the inner slopes from the front wheels. It really gives the vehicle a low-to-the-ground feel. The flames at the back are a real Tim Burton addition to Batman, as far as I can remember. It's cool, for sure. The silhouette of the Batmobile is pretty hard to do in LEGO, since the minifigs are stocky. So, the Batmobile is a little stocky. Slightly longer, slightly narrower, and it would be perfect. The Two-Face jeep is competently done, but it wouldn't seem out of place in the Dinosaurs line. It doesn't have a lot of character, in my opinion. The two-color motif is hard to perfect too. The stickers help, but it doesn't look that schizophrenic. The winch is a little chubby too. The bank is quite good, for the size. The little pillars, the ornamentation, it's good On the side, we have the action part. Twist that piece and... BOOM! the window falls over. Must be shatter-proof glass. As Two-Face's crew takes the safe away, the guard certainly questions the logic of placing a safe at the window of the bank Unfortunately, the guard has only one face, and that one doesn't show either surprise or disappointment. The Final Verdict Design: 8/10 The Batmobile is very well done, the jeep is truly adequate, and the bank is good for its size. Build: 8/10 There are some interesting aspects to it, though I don't think I was schooled at any point. The two other Super Hero sets I built, the Catwoman and Lex Luthor sets, both had more enlightening techniques on display. But, I didn't find the build boring or repetitive. Playability: 9/10 I always score higher for sets that have a built in narrative for an action set. As is, the set has targets, motives, a story. The play features are a little weak, which keeps it from having a perfect score. Minifigures: 9/10 I think these are really good! I like the cop a lot, and the henchmen both have their own faces. Most have back printing as well. The less than perfect score is mostly because Two-Face should have two faces! And the orange-purple suits really aren't that useful outside of a Two-Face narrative. Price: 8/10 It was a decent price considering what licensed sets are selling for these days. The Batmobile is surprisingly dense, so it was definitely in line with what I've paid for other series. It actually seems like a bit of value compared to Star Wars, Pirates or Harry Potter. Overall: 8/10 This is a decent set. If it was year three or four of Batman, I'd probably knock it down a rank or two, but for February 2012, this is a solid set to buy. But, it's a set that isn't really applicable to MOCs or expanded builds, so it seems to be suited to Bat-Fans. I would love to see TLG respect the characters to the extent that the Batman Animated Series did in the 90's and the Arkham games did recently, which both were incredibly successful doing so. This set is sort of like a Cliff's Notes of the comic, playing up the COMIC aspect. Personally, if I were a kid, I'd like the comic-based stuff that wasn't so goofy (like orange-purple suits), but I'm not a kid. All the same, that's a gripe, and not a serious complaint. Maybe if the Super Heroes series is successful, there will be a little more true comic set

That is the best scum strategy Lazy townies are no threat. I took out Pie, somewhat, to save Sandy. She was claiming a useful role, so, no matter how involved or not I am, I had to swing things to save her. That is the job of any townie, to pay attention and vote responsibly. After starting that vote, Pie started looking very scummy, but at first I just was fingering him for being useless to town.
-
Thanks for the feedback. I really have the feeling that I was on a different wavelength than, well, the whole game I think it's pretty funny that the scum wanted me gone so much. They had other virgins like Sandy to take out, or better roles, like Flitwick's to take out. Flitwick ended up being a big contributor to town, and would have been a better choice. I'd be curious to see their writeboard. I'll blame that on Tammo, Pie and Brickdoctor, I guess, since I don't have much history going against Pies and Foog. I doubt I'll ever turn into the Rick of mafia, but I'll take the complement of being second Rick I was quite looking forward to playing a game with him, since we'd only managed to play one together before (Werewolf), as I wrote in the sign up. But, things worked out differently
-
I didn't know you'd assumed I was scum after that, since I figured I was taking the bullet for you I guess you were just adaquately paranoid. A lot of saying that in thread was just part of my 'no-pussyfootin' policy which is now permanenly in effect, and part was just checking to see if my theory, that people would vote out someone who helped, was correct or just me having low expectations of people. As I always said, scum wouldnt want that sort of spotlight, and they didn't
-
Sorry, it was my fault you didn't understand the joke
-
Wow! Who came up with that?! Thanks for the info
-
It does help, but you have to do it before there are 24 votes against you. At that point, it was too late to choose someone else, and have everyone else shift their votes. And, just so everybody knows, Pandufus was the name of a mental patient. I don't know what the players are insinuating when they keep calling the hosts that

I know I had just had that long experience with you in Gotham, so I can understand your thinking, but I really wasn't looking to repeat that. A lot of people contacted me, and except for Cecilie and Flitwick, I wasn't doing much strategy. Those two I did some, only because I had to, as a responsible townie. I had pretty much mentally checked out of the game. I did a little rally to kill Pie, just for a laugh, but I had no spread sheets, no notes or anything. Compared to Gotham, where I had to write out the player list twice, with notes on who cleared who, and how, plus their claims, etc. etc. There was little chance I was going to do that again. And a little note to Bob. When I posted that banner to lynch Pie, you made a comment about me taking the game too seriously, and I disagreed. I made that banner to have fun and hopefully give people a chuckle. It's one thing to categorically give reasons to vote someone out of the game, which is the actual serious (and less fun) part. But throwing together a cheesy political banner with a cheesy slogan was a very light-hearted thing to do And certainly, ridding the camp of Malaena Stools was a way to "Build a better camp... for tomorrow!" or whatever I wrote I have to say, my biggest laugh in this game was over Pie. Basically, I asked him, "That's your defense?" and he replied, "Oh, I haven't made my defense yet!" or something of the sort. Then he proceeded to run to Hinckley and tell a ridiculous defense that ended up being the nail in his coffin In retrospect, a public claim, like Flitwick, Sandy, and I used to get off the lynch would have been the best bet. I think that was sort of said after Gotham too. When faced with the choice between two, the one who publicly claims is going to win. Ironically, in Bloodbrick II, as a townie on the lynch, you did roleclaim. So there is a big difference between your town and scum style And as to game balance, I saw no problems. Scum had lots of chances, and the vig helped them out a bit. I questioned the need for virgins, since if scum outnumbered town, they'd win anyway, but I'm sure it did spur people on. I do think the watcher/tracker roles really tend to crucify scum though. Usually, at least one is caught that way, and I don't think I would use them in my future games unless there were a massive load of players. The roles on their own aren't too powerful, but on top of a cop and whatever, they make town pretty tight and able to verify stories. I'm curious as to what you think about Hinck's "Easter Eggs." It's a real question of the intent of the law versus the letter of the law.
-
It's not so much a worry as it is something to consider. I'm a big fan of comics history (I even write my uni thesis on comics ) so of course I'm a fan of Jack Kirby and his legacy. I can understand that most don't consider it worth paying attention to
-
Oh, and by the way, Flitwick, I should mention that it was good to work with you, even for a short while. I really can't remember a game where we were on the same side, so it was about time
-
The PM apology wasn't meta-gaming, the note in the discussion thread was, where you explained that you were playing a character and no hard feelings, etc. Anytime people explain their thread actions in the discussion thread, it gets a from me, and is the reason why I stopped using one when hosting. It's too tempting. A PM'ed apology is quite nice, and helps to keep things smooth between players. I quite appreciated it. Thanks Anyway, I can't fathom why you thought you'd have more info from me dead, since, if I were scum, I would have rallied to get Hinck lynched with that investigation result, and I wouldn't have left info at the end of the day to clear him. And just everything else I did in thread, like rally to get scummy Pie lynched, all but cleared me. Cecilie and fhomess felt confident enough with me to tell me their roles. So, I'm sure you had your reasoning, but I still don't see it. No worries But, a little note to all who thought my claiming innocence on day one was scummy... Huh? In the history of mafia games here, never has any scum ever claimed innocence five times in thread, even if they're being fingered as scum. It's not a scum move. It's not a town move. It's a "Day one is boring, and nobody is doing much" move. I laughed to Murdock in PM that I would get a lynch vote for revealing info to the group. Because that's just how the games here tend to be, and sure enough, when I woke up the next day after telling what the point of the game was, I was the lynch leader. My general interaction with the town on day one can be illustrated in this helpful clip: You can guess which is the hapless, put-upon innocent, and who are the snarling, blood-thirsty townspeople Zepher is the one who was turned into a newt Oh well, it was all for the best to go out early. I had a heart to heart with fhomess (I think, it was one of the Witchbreed students, anyway) where I confessed that I didn't really mean the "scum or dumb" phrase, it more of, "scum or not def." Everyone has their own logic when playing these games, and I'm not going to hold it against people for not having the same thought processes as me. The games are won, almost every time, without me, so people are doing something right And by the way, @fhomess, that quote Kiel posted from me about you having no strategy was not actually my opinion. I felt bad when he posted it. Basically, I wanted to get Kiel to lay off you, since I knew you were a virgin, and I didn't to share that with Kiel. So I just wrote it that way. It's one thing for someone to say that about you to you directly or in thread, and another to say it behind your back in PM, and that might have been hurtful to your ego. So please know I didn't mean it. I just wanted to keep you alive
-
Wow, great ending Really wonderful storytelling in this game, and I liked the way you connected the inner chamber at the end. I hadn't given it any thought seeing the pics updated on the writeboard. Congrats to the survivors, and particularly Cornelius Murdock, who I think played quite a smart game all the way through. And congrats to Tammo, for having a whole lot of gumption, and not giving up at all. That is the way to play

Better ti just hand them your money then

Some food for thought about the Avengers movie... http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2012/02/the_avengers_why_i_m_boycotting_marvel_s_movie.single.html
