  1. It's pretty hard to remember Japanese names, since they may as well be new words. It's not like in Europe where everyone has a variation of other countries' names (John, Sean, Ian, Johan, Jean, Gionni etc). One easy thing to remember is that girls tend to have "ko" at the end of their names, about 70% of the time. Men's names almost never do, except in "hiko". What does that ko mean? Child. Kind of patronizing to put child in a woman's name. Akiko (明子)= Bright child. Yoko (陽子)= positive child. Yumiko (由美子)= beautiful child. How do I rate the authenticity of the names in the game? Nobuo Chieko Shizuko Akio - I never heard it before, but it's plausible Noriko Setsuku - Very strange sounding. Kenta Saburo - uncommon Emi Lizzy - Obviously a joke name Shiro - I never heard it but plausible Hanako Akira Momoe Kin - Very strange. Single character names are rare, and the first meaning of the name that jumps out at me is "gold" Manga - Joke Maniko - I never heard it, but it's plausible Norio- I never heard it, but it's kind of plausible. I never heard "nori" in a name. "o" is common enough, like in Kunio Hiroki Daisuke Tamiko Aiko Cherry Blossom - I don't know why you didn't call her Sakura Yasu - Very uncommon. Yasu is half a name, Yasumasa, Yasuhiko, etc. Lloyd Jr - Joke Ichirou - a little uncommon, despite the baseball player. Usually Junichiro. Tadao -I never heard it, but plausible. Yasuko Minoru Jirou Yoshiko Isamu I know that in crafting a mafia game, the authenticity of the names is of the highest importance On that level, the game mostly succeeds Awaiting day five badboy, you've got everyone's night actions in I hope
  2. I'm not a fan of petitions, but if any set needs to be reissued, it's this one.
  3. I'm really looking forward to getting this set, and at the American price (it's selling for double that in Japan). Your review makes it all that more interesting looking I've been on the fence about picking up the Batcave, and I think I'll forgo it, since there is a Robin in this set. Poison Ivy isn't worth throwing out a $100. The only question is why this very desirable set was made an exclusive, and why the price is better than the rest of the line, when exclusives tend to be well over-priced...
  4. You locked the thread while I was writing a post! That's so frustrating!
  5. That seems much too high. I don't think there could have been five of each group, that would make almost a third of us scum from the outset, and that is simply unreasonable. Five of one with no recruits, and three of another with recruits or something is possible, but I think they would average four. If their numbers are high, that makes them a lot more catchable at night Like an origami bird, the scum will fold as pressure is applied. I find it pretty interesting how few people feel like taking part. They show up to vote, and that's about it At the very least, people could volunteer to be investigated tonight...
  6. I would love to hear some opinions on the situation from the quieter people here For example, what do you think about the second faction? What do you think about Isamu and Minoru's votes for the last few days? What exactly are you thinking? If you like, we can do it the old fashioned-way, and throw you one by one in front of the investigator, but I'd rather do it the participatory way, and try to smell you out through your words. Please, share!
  7. Vote: Hiroki (Etzel) It might just be a clean sweep
  8. Well, why don't you do the insane investigator thing? Right? There's a chance there. Tamiko doesn't have a scum reading hanging over her head. Basically, any chance you had to argue your way out is already lost -You aren't claiming a role -You admit to not doing much -You've been investigated and come up scum There's no argument there to keep you around. Actually, the townie move would have been to volunteer to be lynched, since it's better to lynch a non-active, vanilla townie over any other townie. You are, unfortunately, in the most disposable class of Yakuza, on the basis that you're telling the truth... Which you're likely not. Why, just yesterday, Isamu claimed pretty much the same thing, and look how that turned out Yeah, it's much riskier to keep you around than it is to sacrifice you. I suggest you take one for the team in this case
  9. Fascinating Conflicting stories. It seems Akira is sure you were talking to him. You will have to be sacrificed today, and the degree of your honesty judged by dragon flame. If somehow you are true Yakuza, we will be quite perplexed tomorrow. Really, there is no other option for the lynch today. Sorry Hiroki.
  10. Actually, you got investigated because of your lackluster contributions to the day time Perfect under-the-radar play. And you weren't framed, since there would be no reason to do so, you weren't an obvious target. And nobody knew you were being investigated except Jirou, the vig, the cop, and I, and I didn't tell scum. So, it wasn't a mix-up. If you are true Yakuza, the cop will be held accountable, and it would be best to share whatever information you have to share before the inevitable lynch occurs.
  11. I'm assuming they are a secret scum team. They sound like government, and government is no friend of Yakuza. Let's lynch Hiroki! (anyone have time to make the banner? )
  12. Well, I can say I'm very happy with some of those results. I had developed a friendship with Yoshiko and Jirou, so I'm heartbroken to see them go. You will be dearly missed, family. But, in other great news, Hiroki (Etzel) was investigated as scum last night! Please explain why this is a false reading, Hiroki! I have every desire to lynch you today
  13. He certainly had an impact on culture. Here is a nice remembrance of him: http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/motion-captured/posts/ralph-mcquarrie-visual-designer-of-star-wars-passes-away-at-82
  14. I find it very unlikely that the scum would make you the center of their plot, since until today, you haven't been the focus of any attention in particular. Regardless, the role cop has put themselves on the line to finger you, so we need to follow that lead.
  15. Akira has shared his contact, and I have reason to believe their story The vig is a town role. There are lots of townies left. Scum are very unlikely to false claim at this point, since they will definitely be held accountable afterwards, as Minoru is being held accountable today. If you are town, I strongly advise you to make any information you have public now, while the day is open. It's the townie thing to do
  16. In that case, are you out and out calling Akira a liar? Balance is something to consider after we've died, not for the here an now. So you say he is calling you a goon, and it is a fabrication I had 回転寿し tonight. Very good. The salmon, in particular, was good. Please, let us not forget our stomachs in all this mess
  17. It sounds like an analysis of game mechanics that the scum can take up with kami-sama after things are over. But it doesn't sound implausible to me.
  18. It's in the realm of possibility, but I think it's very unlikely. I would rather the watcher target one of the people assumed town at this point.
  19. Scum rarely have protection roles, since they are rarely the target of night actions. It's true, if you were a goon, your night action should be nothing. But that's not to say that is how the kami-sama are dealing with this. This is our first life in the land of the rising sun, after all. If that is how it was done, it's unconventional, but conceivable. As for my "investigators", only one is a proper investigator. The other two are roles with an investigative side-effect. But I have had no contact with a role-cop. On day one, I did say that if there was a scum role-cop, there would be a town role-cop though Score one for metagaming! Anyway, if the role-cop is claiming to Akira, it's worth it to vig kill Isamu. In the morning, Akira and his role-cop will be held responsible if it goes poorly (as Minoru is being held responsible today). So, I urge Akira to share his info with a third party in case the "role-cop" is a liar, and the scum take him out to tie up loose ends. Vote: Minoru (VolcanicPanic) Neutral blocker
  20. Okay. We'll vig kill him tonight
  21. I was 'working with' Minoru from about half way through day two, and it didn't consist of much, other than me asking who they targeted night one. I had my own business going on for night two, and I never asked who they targeted, and wouldn't trust Nobuo's answer at this point. Sorry, not Nobuo, Minoru.
  22. What good is a neutral blocker?
  23. They are friends in "the other world," so I assume that was the main reason for it. I just wish I hadn't been involved in any of it... Except this lynching
  24. If you're lying about one things, you're probably lying about the other: <From the secret letters of Ichiro to myself> So, do we trust the "renegade"? Or two we trust the word of two noble, dead townies who bravely sacrificed themselves for the foolishness of town? Will the valiant sacrifice of Ichiro and Tadao go in vain? Yada! I say, yada!
  25. I'm saying that "three blockers" is the only way I could imagine Minoru not being scum... But no, I'm not proposing that. In fact, I revealed Minoru's identity before I had any second thoughts, or got convinced otherwise. Minoru is the way to go today. Yeah, your theory sounds more than a bit stupid What's your honest theory? All three of us are scum? There is only one, and it's me, and I'm scum? I'm trying to think of how you think everyone should coordinate with you, when all you've done so far is be a windbag. I'm not demanding people work with me, it's just happening. There is a network of cleared people here. I'm in it. You aren't. Information is flowing between us. Don't be jealous. Minoru had a role-claim to one of the people in that group, but certainly wasn't cleared, and didn't get any real information from me, just friendliness, and an assumption of trust. I rescind that, and look forward to Minoru's explanations. In private, I explained to him that if Tadao was Yakuza, the only option was to give town Minoru's head. I notice that Minoru went quiet here literally within minutes of me revealing them to town, so I assume that is due to last minute consulting with their scum buddies. As for the flow of information in our group, there are two vanillas there. I'm sharing a little more with the specials of the group, and less with the vanillas. There is a fair chance for recruitment in this situation, so it would be a terrible danger if any vanilla attempted to organize or collect too much information, and were then recruited. I'm using the assumption that specials are unrecruitable. So, any vanillas plowing away, demanding information should be ignored, for the sake of your life, and the security of town. If we were to hear about a third blocking on day one, perhaps it would be plausible. But scum could claim that to make us think that there were three. Even if they were lying, it would take a day to check Minoru through investigation might be a worthwhile chance for scum to take. I don't want to base any decision off of Eurodine I wonder if any of you have noticed a discrepancy in the way Nobuo interprets events. For example: Scenario A: Nobuo helps railroad our tracker to lynch, taking credit for it yesterday. Nobuo's interpretation: Sorry, guys. Pobody's nerfect That's why pencils have erasers. Oops. Alright now, everybody send me their night actions so I can organize us! Scenario B: Norio publicly announces he's working a plan to kill a suspected scum blocker, but they turn up town. The next day, he submits the other candidate. Nobuo's interpretation: Can't you see! It's a scum plot! You're being fooled! The sky is falling! Etc. etc. until day four comes It's a curious pattern. I wonder why that is
