  1. I think this is a scummy move. Voting for me late, unvoting me quickly, and then throwing your vote away on Taylor (who certainly has been of no help whatsoever other than her helpful, condescending lecture showing me the error of my ways ). You can't really care about the truth of my statements if you won't make a move to save me This is a legitimate Finger of Shame aimed at you for your behavior today. Actually, in the post you quoted, I wrote, and I quote, "Hugh Janus is most certainly scummy, or just devoid of all smarts whatsoever, or possibly both." I think we have confirmation of one of these points here, based on your comprehension level of the conjunction 'or'. Which question? I had a pile of people haranguing me with requests to explain/justify/etc. etc. If it hasn't been answered in any of my obscenely long and amassing posts, feel free to PM me. It seems, other than with one person who I won't mention here, that those I've dealt with in PM have been able to have smooth, amicable communication, which, after all, isn't that what we're all really seeking? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway, whether I'm lynched or not, I think things will work out for the best I've let you know something important about the nature of our situation, and hopefully it will help steer us in the proper direction. I will rest easy, as time confirms me as truly, the towniest of towns Stating the facts is not meant to be an insult. I apologize if you feel slighted by that. My town-leaning behavior is unquestionably clear in my mind, in an objective way. No. I simply knew they had an unstated, AKA secret, target, and that I had a secret role with no active abilities. So, you can call it guessing, I call it putting two and two together. Although, you quote the word "fact", and I said nothing of the sorts. I just checked. I made a statement about the type of game this is, and said Ra told me, in the same idiomatic use of, "You could say a little bird told me." http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/bird Ra, coincidentally being a bird. Of course, I suppose you could claim I meant it as a fact, but it seems like a guess on your part, doesn't it? I guess when you look silly for being one of the ones who pushed me into a corner and made me reveal more than should have been needed, it makes you feel better to put the blame on me. It's my fault I didn't state the info in the way it should have. My fault, not yours I'm so sorry to all you people who I've caused so much turmoil today. What a bastard I've been Any one else want to blame me for the way they're acting? I'll take full responsibility. After all, if it's not my fault other people here are flailing about, who's could it be?
  2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While I'm not guaranteed to be lynched, there is a very good chance for it (since all the people voting for me have no idea how to play mafia or are simply scum), so I may as well spill the rest of my story. You can use these last hours to decide if you want to start day one like or like or . Lynching me will be . I've tried to actually play day one. Got harassed by Hinck and Zeph Mehmet and Apu. I've tried to help clarify our situation, and got accused of being scum for it since I wasn't going to explain how I knew what I knew. And have been repeatedly told that I'm insulting your intelligence and obnoxious and what not. I'll tell you something, when you get told for the 50th time that you're being obnoxious, and insulting people's intelligence (or not making friends or whatever else), well, there is the temptation to call you out on it. After all, if the people repeatedly saying it are all wrong, maybe they need to someone to insult their intelligence... But it won't be me, not today Anyway, my role is Virgin, a powerless role that I'm assuming is one of the ones the scum need to 'sacrifice'. Hmm, why didn't I explain why I knew this about the game in thread... Hmm, think about it, deep and long, and realize that the act of explaining this in thread hurts the town and puts a target on my back, helping the scum to achieve their goals. So, I was cryptic in my statement, but definitely getting the ball rolling for us townies. So I'm at the top of the lynch that's what happens when you play with people who jump on others for being active, you force me to play my hand. It would have been a hell of a lot better if you trusted the idea that no scum would ever put themselves so far out in front on day one. Scum have limited numbers, they can't take that much heat on day one. It's a textbook fact of mafia, and would have been horrible play day one if I were scum, guaranteeing any manner of night actions targeted at me. (funny enough, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, to the rest of the town not voting for me right now, please feel with confidence that there is scum most certainly voting for me, particularly the late comers who want to push my lynch to the front over Goodenarde. I have been working with people (some in private), but you acted like colossal knobend for two days straight, so I don't feel like working with you personally. That's all. Feel free to post more private messages from me where I already explained to you that I don't feel like dealing with you for the time being. Wait, let me choose one, the one where I told you I didn't feel like squabbling with you (this is an example of how, right from the start, I was calling him scum or whatever he claims I've been doing ): I'm truly sorry I was such an obnoxious prick, being so difficult to deal with.
  3. Great strategy Sacrifice the most active, helpful player in order to see if they were telling the truth about being active and helpful. I'll have to keep note of that for my future lives Thanks for the advice. I'll just do nothing next time, since that's the point of this, surviving to the end, right Seriously, I didn't come here to make friends... And I haven't
  4. Thanks Glad to see one of us is using their head. Or at least, one of the scum might be riding the town train while they have a chance to How do I know? Why don't I give concrete reasons as to how I know? There is no value in sharing that info publicly. Not one bit, except to save my own skin. It's terrible, terrible gameplay, and foolish to niggle me with those sorts of questions. Considering that I'm didn't reveal that while I had pressure on me, but when I had zero or one vote (I forget the timeline exactly), it seems to me that I was putting my neck on the line to share information with town. Predictably, I'm now a frontrunner in votes But, I'm town, and if I'm lynched, I will be shown to have been town And, you can have a list of 'townies' to choose from who decided to lynch the guy trying to bring us as a town forward. Seriously, voting for the one who is way the heck out front seems to be a, sad to say it, scum or dumb move. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And it's not about insulting anyone's intelligence. I haven't been doing that. I've been trolled for a few days, and repeatedly told by a bunch of you that I'm fighting. That happened when I was a kid in school, where a bully would pick on me, and the teacher would punish us both equally for 'fighting'. I didn't enjoy it then, and I don't enjoy it now. And then I'm repeatedly told how obnoxious or stupid I'm being (ie, bitter, bitter Pie), when I really haven't been, I've positively been biting my tongue. When I named a suspect and some hard reasons for it before everyone else, and when I shared some info to help coordinate us without being forced to, then making me the top lynch candidate... Well, I'm not going to compliment you on your reasoning. If I were an outsider looking in, I'm sure I would see my posting as the most likely town here, drawing attention for the sake of helping us. You can reason that I'm scum playing a meta-game, but it would only make me wind up dead quickly, and on top of that, scum would rather you don't know what they need to do as long as possible. But, you are all free to disagree and certainly are ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unvote: Hugh Janus (Eskallon) Hugh Janus is most certainly scummy, or just devoid of all smarts whatsoever, or possibly both. But, in this situation, I know I'm town, and I'm working hard (as always) for our team. Roger Goodenarde on the other hand chooses not to shift his vote when the nominations are so close, and in my estimation, is 'keeping his cool'. I think he is a better candidate for today than me Vote: Roger Goodenarde (Professor Flitwick) I was deciding between which to vote for, him or Mrs. Farago, and both have their draws, but Goodenarde's last post just struck me as the non-committal, on the fence posting that a scum would do, especially when his neck is on the chopping block, and so it is, I vote for him (which hopefully answers the expected questioning about why I'm not going for Farago).
  5. You should see how fast it goes when Badboy is actually around
  6. All the same, a single vote difference doesn't mean much. You're just trying to keep yourself from having any recorded culpability. It's not all that impressive. Despite only having met you yesterday, I get the feeling you are an erratic and illogical voter I kid, I kid! Voting with the group is surely better than not voting and being a vapid potty mouth
  7. Ah, in that case, you must be innocent My apologies, but the vote sitcks Nope, he's at an equal vote with Mr. Goodenarde, but your 'mistake' is duly noted
  8. Oh, sorry. Helping explain our situation is suspicious. I forgot this was EB
  9. Really? That's been the issue today? Split votes? You must be stuck in a different godforsaken valley than I am. A totally bizarre comment, but I'm inclined to think that after your last incarnation as Bastet, you'd be inclined to keep your mouth totally shut if you were scum No help here. None at all. Someone is being sacrificed today, and you avoid any culpability, for better or worse Methinks the classic strategy has returned Anyway, I'm only so-so convinced about Penelope Farago, and while she has made a very weak defense, I'm not convinced that she is scum. My initial finger-of-shaming at Memhet was fully reasoned, and I shouldn't condemn her to death simply for being the sole person to see the fully formed logic of my words Unvote: Penelope Farago (Waterbrick Down) Rather, I will point yet another finger at the lolly-gagger, Hugh Janus. Really, we are all having a bit of fun here, and the only way for us to have anything to work with in upcoming days is for us all to participate, and he is preparing to not participate There are two motives for this; 1. He is concerned about a theoretical "Survivor's list", 2. He is scum playing conservative in order to highlight that he didn't convict a townie early on. Either possibility is equally unappealing in my opinion, and does little to help our situation. Really, he has about a one in four chance of being one of the despicable, detestable Cultists of which we seek, and about as much as the "educated" guesses we have already before us. For day one though, I'd like to hone in on the driftwood, the detritus, if you will, in our group, who aren't bothering to place themselves on the line. It worked for Boba Fett, so why not us? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7A5OVn3DRI For day one, I Vote: Hugh Janus (Eskallon) Nobody is guiltier than anyone else at this point, but people sitting on the sidelines aren't making it any easier Oh, also, the scum have to kill a select portion of us townies to win. It's not a standard 'outnumber townies' game. I'll just put that officially on the record now, just so I can have bragging rights while me and the rest of the spiritually pure ride in Ra's boat in the afterlife. All that European crap about St.Peter and water turning into wine is a crock. On the other hand, Osirus' cock being eaten by a catfish is the truth; the word of Ra. Point being, the scum are hunting for certain among us, and not merely trying to outnumber us. How do I know? Oh, let's just say Ra told me
  10. I've been reading the last year of X-Force this week, as well as some other 2000's X-Men trades I picked up two or three years back. I started reading the X-Men when I was 10, and it seems I'll always feel at home reading them. The pacing of all of them is certainly a lot more Hollywood than they used to be, but that's how superhero comics are written these days. I don't know where you can escape it. Anyway, Uncanny X-Force is fairly solid, and the three issue return to the Age of Apocalypse was quite fun, since that storyline was the last one I read while still being able to get excited over the book in my youth, though they've had good storylines since. I also picked up Habibi yesterday, purely based on fawning reviews, mainly outside of the comics world. I loved loved loved the last book by the writer/artist, Craig Thomson, so I figured I wouldn't be years late in trying this one out. I haven't read it, but just flipping through this heavy, dense book is intimidating. It's beautifully crafted, and it's long (I guess 500 pages), but I'm looking forward to getting into it. This guy has the career I wish I had when I was in uni, and the tragedy is he's my age! I try not to let jealousy color my opinion of his work. He's really talented
  11. Just to be clear, I don't consider some guy spending the day trolling me for the day a mutual argument. For the most part, I ignored his posts. I certainly wanted to keep the record straight when he tries to make stuff up about me, but I've avoided responding for the most part. Conversely, he replied to most of my posts it seemed, whether regarding him or not. In the same way, I'm letting you folks know, to keep the record straight... If you can stomach wading through the thread, that's what you'll see
  12. Thanks for working so hard for the team
  13. The only thing is, she wasn't actually defending me. But, I think it's a fair lynch all the same, and a safer bet than Goodenarde, as nice as it would be away from all his over-acting. Unvote: Mehmet Attabar (Hinckley) Vote: Penelope Farago (Waterbrick Down) Tentatively. I still think Mehmet's and Apu's play today has been anti-town, either by accident or by design (my vote goes for the latter), but nobody seems really perturbed at they way they've been mangling the truth... I suppose when you're not the victim of it, it's easier to overlook "First they came…" @Apu, I'm not reading any more of your posts for the rest of the day. 24 hours of haranguing BS coming from you is getting on my nerves, and I'm not explaining why you're wrong again. There are better uses of my time, both in Egypt and the rest of the world
  14. I don't understand you, sir. You are again continuing to try to mislead people. -I said you were trying to make use of make use of my reputation, not take it down. -I have said nothing about being smart -My helpfulness is in that I've been pretty clear in my accusations and my thinking. What else does a townie do on day one -The innocence stuff has been harped on enough, but you still bring it up I am not cleared, which I've acknowledged more than once already. But you choose to say such incorrect, misleading nonsense. It's about as weak a day one as I've ever seen from you. That you keep pushing it forward says poor things about your possible motives I've got better things to do than to deal with trolls for the rest of the day
  15. There was a lot more to it than that. There were a lot of spam posts in the morning of this day. That isn't a reason to vote. There was no time to comment then, and when I had settled in, the moment was lost. But there was not much to comment on. I actually wondered if you were a cultist supporting a townie. If both I and Mehmet were to be innocent, then it would be a good idea for scum to support/encourage one of us. It nudges things towards a non-scum lynch, and the blame is squarely on someone else's shoulders. The thing that threw me off was, again, Mehmet's distracting. You supported a single statement I made, and he made it out that you were blindly following me. Aggressive, abusive treatment of the truth, only to stir up trouble. To me, that was the scummier of the two acts. I really hope this isn't all a tempest in a teapot brought on by Mehmet's poorly thought out comments. It's unfortunate that clearly describing your behavior is deemed talking down to you.
  16. Thanks for that little tantrum You are suspicious because of a load of nonsense coming out of your mouth. He isn't suspicious since he's always quiet. I think it's quite possible for you to be talkative without making stuff up, distracting, and all the rest. But that's not what you chose to do.
  17. Do you even read what's being said by everyone, or do you just latch on to what the guy before you wrote and copy it? Well then, let's hope something substantial comes up, that tends to be how day ones work Anybody got any leads? Anyway, I'm going to follow that vote, I was thinking about earlier: Vote: Mehmet Attabar (Hinckley) The thinking behind it is as I've already stated. I'll add that, regardless of whether he was scum or town, he was going to be the most prolific poster here. Those posts have had troubling aspects. If he thinks he's merely bending the truth in order to provoke me, well, I don't see the 'town' quality in that. It's unhelpful, and a distraction. On the subject of Mr. Leplot, conversely, he was going to be quiet, regardless of his alignment. That's simply the way he is. For that reason, I wouldn't vote for him on day one. The ones who have been too quiet today also distress me, people like Hans, Melaena, Mellifluous, Father Thomson, and Ishaq. It's still early in the first day, so it's hard to make definitive statements about being absentee just yet. At the same time, Apu's behavior troubles me still too. One reason not to make a list like that early in the day is that, upon reading their name called out, scum can adjust their behavior in order to be "active". Apu's repeated bleating, requesting lists did nothing for us, and makes it appear as if I'm in a squabble, when in fact I was simply being harassed. I worry that Mehmet and Apu are trying to seize on any sort of reputation I've made for myself before this situation started, and play that back to the crowd, regardless of my own behavior, and, at least in the case of Sheila Suxsumb, they've succeeded For scum, it's a fair day one strategy. For town, it's just misleading. Why aren't you voting? I think my next list will be of those who are posting but not voting, for whatever reason. There is no majority needed, and unvoting is fine, so I don't get any conservative behavior here
  18. I stopped hours ago. You and a handful of others kept bringing it up It's my fault that you brought it up hours later, I'm very, very sorry.
  19. The reason I say I'm innocent is and working hard is because it's funny to say. That is my sense of humor. It is apparently not yours. Nor is it the sense of humor of most of the others here, but I find it really amusing on day one of a mafia to laughably announce I'm super-innocent. It has has to do with Monty Python or Mr.Show, or a pile of other comedy forms that don't exist at this moment, in 1936. That must be the problem here, I'm ahead of my time Imagine, a small lamb, with soft, fuzzy ears, and large, batting eyes. It plays in a grassy field littered with daisies. At the top of a hill, nestled in the mountains, there is some milk in a saucer made of silver, with a drop of honey in it to sweeten it. That small lamb, with not a care in this world, drinks from it as the sun shines on its back, warming it to the touch. Can you see that image? That's me! I was having fun, not one single person here gets a joke not based on sluts, apparently. Once again, my mistake. Sometimes, my sense of humor intersects with the folks in this little sandy valley (ie, by shoving a pool cue up someones butt) but as often as not, I'm the only one laughing at my own jokes
  20. Also, there is this electronic message delivery system called "private message", also known as PM. With it, a member of EB can send messages to other members and even ask questions! I've heard of EB mafia players literally flooding the "inbox" of mafia hosts with requests and questions about the game. It's true!
  21. Wait, you forgot the whole message: "If you're town, you're a dipshit. I was asking him that since I thought he might be a scum tipping his hat with too much knowledge in thread. But you gave him an answer, so he'd have to be real stupid not to just use that. So, you'll have to stay the top of the suspect list now " Thanks for trying to muddy the facts yet again I don't say this out of cynicism or derision, but because you really seem to be trying to misinforming everyone. It's really not helpful. If you think I'm scum, and want to make a case about me, that's what you should do, in an honest manner. If you don't think I'm scum, then you should stop trying so hard to be a pest. Even if I accuse you, you shouldn't be trying to get back at me unless you think I'm scum. Maybe you are carrying around a chip on your shoulder, and you're not a scum trying to lynch the only townie to put themselves out there on day one, but it's really hard to tell the difference at the moment.
  22. It's true! And which is why I asked him why he was asking that, without a drop of cynicism or derision. Stop being a nag
  23. What makes you think they want something besides our deaths? The standard is that they want us dead. I've never seen it be otherwise. I'd really like to know why you ask.
  24. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64526&view=findpost&p=1165945 What I will say is this: I don't know who the Cult scum are. If I did, we would have solved this mystery already. But it seems there needs to be a lynch on day one. Even if it wasn't needed, it's a good way to get the ball rolling and give us something to consider later (assuming we aren't so foolish as to all unanimously vote for the same person). I have supported voting from the start. Nobody seems to be willing to point fingers, even though that is how we get these discussions rolling. Nobody except me, that is I see some peculiarities in Attabar's attitude, as I've stated (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64526&view=findpost&p=1165835), and it has been compounded by the fact that his rebuttal was to bend the truth, shall I say, to put things generously (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64526&view=findpost&p=1165930), while telling another who agreed with my points that they were following me blindly. It's all a little too aggressive and unfounded for me. I find Apu's behavior troubling too. I feel like they are gearing up to (try to) make me the sacrificial lamb today. Some of Apu's statements have an air of accusation, despite being utterly incorrect. The one that stands out to me is this: He is claiming I'm not being productive, while I've actually been the only one to make any concrete statements. The second part just sounds like prep-work for a later vote when he isn't satisfied with my 'production'. Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but that is all too often how these "Day One"s go I do think it's quite likely that most the scum are the quieter ones among us, but of the outspoken ones, these two are tingling my scumdar, between their hostile attitudes and their slippery grasp of the few facts we have. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I was but a wee boy, sitting on the lap of my dear gran-mamar, she would coo a sweet refrain that soothed me and set my li'l Fitzwilliam noggin to rest: scum or dumb, scum or dumb... I do not think these two are fools, as it were, and it is a cause for worry.
  25. Not worth the effort to explain it to you again http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64526&view=findpost&p=1165945
