I'm not expecting you to be useful, but I'm expecting you not to give be attitude when you're being useless. That's a fair request, wouldn't you say
-
You've given me a week's worth of attitude in thread and in private in just one day. And on top of that, you're entirely wrong That being the case, I've been incredibly polite to you, because attitude from people who are 100% wrong is pretty insufferable. If you check those private messages, my main attitude was politely explaining my situation, with retorts and accusations from you. But I was polite. You need to check yourself first.

What have you done so far? Voted with the herd? Check. Insulted Yasu-chan as you did it? Check. Done absolutely nothing else? Check. Looks like there are cracks showing in your glass house yet again Great job, Noriko-chan This is exactly why people don't need to "rant on" about roleplaying. Sure, we're all Yakuza members finding the disloyal in our family, but the roleplaying is not the key thing here. Participating and putting ourselves out there is, because that's how we have info to work with later. You've done a great job of that, Emi-chan. I'd like to think I have too. Whether you agree with my opinions and way of thinking or not, at least it's out there for people to see. Unlike, say, human-barnacles like Noriko-chan up there. Maniko-chan mo. She too should put more time into reading and forming opinions than in playing dress-up. My two yen. This reminds me of the summer of '03, when I was undercover in Saudi Arabia. An oil tycoon was funding faux-Islamic terrorists as a cover for his real plans, destroying the richest oil resources in the world and thereby cornering the market on non-renewable energy. I was able to gain access to his inner circle, while posed as a Texas oil tycoon (be it one of Japanese ancestry). Was my accent convincing? Well, I'm still here aren't I? Did I put the roleplaying ahead of my mission? Not a chance! As fun as it was to wear a 10-gallon hat and talk like John Wayne, when I needed to carry out my mission, I put my priories in order, and did what needed to be done, using that role when appropriate. What's the lesson here? Take out the scum first. Roleplay second And Noriko-chan better not think she's still Mustafa Nidia, because that was pretty insufferable.

Yeah, it has been, what, two hours. And I haven't told you everything I know yet. Obviously you're a master detective, since no townie wouldn't spill their guts at the first sign of harassment. I'm done arguing with a brick wall for today. Feel free to start up your accusations tomorrow.

What are you going on about? I have nothing to say that could change your vote because at this point, I have no information worth changing a vote over. Chill out
-
Take this with a grain of salt, but, whatever You (all) were gung ho to lynch a claimed role, I cautioned against it. I took some time to interact with him, and made the decision that he had holes in his story. I realize that will be a damning pattern to some people here, but so be it. That's the way it goes. You've got your day one lynch selected. I have nothing to tell that will change your minds. So, nagging me for details right now is just silly.

Because it keeps it part of the game. Coming in here to say why you can't participate when more than a few people have noted people not participating isn't an explanation we should consider. Whatever you have to say should be said there. If you're up for lynch, I don't think anybody should be saying, "he said he'd be away for the day yesterday in the C & D thread." I'm not saying you three are scum, but it's a good technique for scum to make 'real life' an alibi for their playing, or avoidance of it. Whether it's locked or not, reasons given here should be frowned on, in my opinion -
Sure. That's totally fine, and the way to market successfully. I've written more than once that the market for these is not 30-something comic nerds, like myself. Personally, I will never be excited about the movie and TV versions of characters, since those aren't the ones I grew up loving, and that's totally fine too.

I unvoted Pie and voted Yasu.
-
This plus her responses in private have told me that her story is implausible, and that even if she survives, I worry she may be a hindrance to town. I've sent you the details, so hopefully that is a satisfactory explanation
-
No worries, I'm with you at this point. If she is scum, we'll have a lot to look at tomorrow
-
Sorry, I've made a mistake. This is, as others have said, not a defense. You don't let someone live in order to waste a scum move. It's a reason not to lynch someone claiming a role. We can't guarantee what scum will do. If all this is simply due to inexperience, at the very least, someone will have learned a lesson. Your own defense can't be simply paraphrasing what someone else has said (this being one instance, and the second being the claim that it was a joke) Unvote: Chizuko (Pie) Vote: Yasu (Boy Wonder) A true townie is always true and speaks from the heart, and don't need to try so hard
-
Or they're hoping to get someone to save their skin. Regardless, the message was only, "I'm the role cop," so we may as well describe it as it was. For that matter, when Catwoman roleclaimed to the Creeper, they weren't hoping for advice either, but simply for someone to help get the heat off
-
She didn't ask me for advice, she simply roleclaimed to me. I don't know what went on with Ichi beyond what's been publicly stated.
-
Except that's not the way scum work. They get a lot of coaching. An inexperienced scum would get advice on their role claim, and when to make it. I think when the heat was put on them, they would be consulting their group from then on. Yasu-chan's behavior is that of a loose cannon. Don't give up your day job

If people are going to use the C & D thread as an alibi/excuse for not participating, can we lock this thread? They need to be explaining themselves, however they choose to, in thread. -
Wow. I totally remember Catwoman making the exact same argument about the Riddler. Better to kill a cop, since scum know who they are You'd rather lynch a power-role than have scum waste their block or kill on them tonight And such hypothesizing is not even guaranteed in a group as large as us. Why just last month, some Virgin-Cop got outed on day one and survived to the end, making a difference to the survival of town. Some people never learn. Vote: Chizuko (callmepie-chan) That's about the best argument for voting for Yasu-chan, that there is a danger of her flapping her mouth and putting other useful townies in hot water. Ah geez no, not the metagaming thing, or should I say, "metagaming" Unless you got a frontal lobotomy between now and last week, you have already metagamed in this "game". Whether you choose to talk about "books you read" or "game's of life" or however you phrase it, there's no advantage to us not admitting why we think the way we do... or do you really think the number of people who claim that Yasu-chan is "inexperienced" are merely referring to her experience at the rice plantation? Let us never mention this thing called "metagaming" again And to those voting out Yasu-chan: Since when do we vote out people claiming roles on day one? It seems like the way to do it is to not cut out power roles the moment we start. Those who think Yasu-chan is being coached: If that's the case, that's some of the worst coaching ever seen. An absolute failure to give any useful, effective advice

I don't think the Superman villains are better than the Batman ones. I just think they're worthy of figures It sounds like your thoughts of supervillains are mainly based on characters that have appeared in movies and cartoon shows.

What's with Lego sets nowadays?
def replied to Squishy Stelactite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A thought occurred to me last night after I'd posted in this thread and saw the OP reading it without replying... Since everyone is uniformly disagreeing with him without him bothering to explain himself, it could have been written as a prank in the first place -
He is verifiable in a few ways: -no counter claim. I think his role is more than likely to pop up. If the scum have a role cop, town is doubly likely to have one. So, if there are no counter claims (done privately, of course ) that he's telling the truth. -he can be investigated. He is not likely to be a godfather. -he can have some results night one. None of it is 100% confirmable, but I'm willing to work with Occam's Razor Actually, I think I stated that scum are likely to stay just above that line. But as I also have said, I think it's good to send a message. If I were to gamble a townies life, it would be one who doesn't bother to show up. Certainly better than to gamble with someone roleclaiming, as poorly done as it was
-
Sorry, I only have a brief few minutes to contribute my two yen. As has been said, there is no real day one defense. Except role claiming. Most day one lynches are not due to silence. Whoever claimed that was a fact? As I said, let's start things off on the right foot, without such harsh words I would agree, these things said are worth noting, uncharacteristic of true Yakuza. Check C & D :wall: :wall: Claiming before the voting even started. Pure insanity. I know you think there was a bandwagon against you, but I'll fill you in on something: You can't have a bandwagon before voting has started. You claimed too early. And you did so before getting a reply from me, and you did so despite a reply from <Tammo's character> telling you not to do so. Your role is a fairly verifiable one though. At the same time, role cop is just a so-so role, better used to tell if people are lying, than to do any investigating. It's not a real cop role. Yup, I woke up to a message. Why he decided I was town, I can't tell you. And he didn't wait for a reply either Too much to do in the little time I have Thanks I'm going to contradict you and say that there is no excuse for that. In the first half of the day period, (30 something hours), you need to make a little time. I'd be happy gambling on any of those people. I'm sure scum are trying to stay just slightly above those numbers, but they are still a safe gamble to lynch

Oniisan is good for brother, but sister is Oneesan. But both are just for older siblings. Younger siblings just go by their name, though there's a different word for brother and sister for both meaning younger. Family words in Japanese confuse me still a fair bit since there's a word for members in your family (ie. mom), for people outside your family (my mom), and for others families (your mom), as well as just family relations in general (mothers). I just gave up. Confession, I don't know the name of any of my in-laws except my younger sister in law, because my wife uses her name. And I simply avoid referring to them by name when I see them it's been a few years now, I wonder if my wife has noticed -
It pains me to say it, but let's try to get through day one without calling people stupid. Let's start off on the right foot On my part, I am even trying out a new catch phrase... Scum or not paying attention... No, that has no rhythm. Scum or naive... No, that has no zazz. Scum or confused... No, that won't work I'm going to go off in the corner for a little bit and work on my sloganeering. When I get back, I'm inclined to vote for anybody who has made only a single statement in the time leading up to this statement. I'm not going to count now, but the record is there. Now, with voting on the verge of opening, those who have elected not to take part up to this point will likely be one of the ones worth removing
