I see you're grasping at straws at this point. Let's be straight about the situation. I have no grudge against you. I was under the impression I had apologized for any past insult to you. If I hadn't done it clearly enough, let me restate it: I'm sorry. I was in the wrong. My fault. But that was in the past. I'm not gunning for you any more than I am any other scum-looking guy. Day one, Petr was looking scummy. Was that a grudge on my part too? My only issue is with how scummy you look now. And you can't use past lives to explain it away. I think I was straight forward with my case too. Your reply was even scummier-looking, ignoring what I'd said and, well, being scummy. So I clearly replied, and you just ignore it and try to metagame reframe the argument to say I can't call you out on your behavior. It's a worthwhile attempt, and I promise not to hold any grudge for it And for the record, in that past game of life, if I recall correctly, you killed me, then in the bizarre twist that I came back to life, you tried to kill me a second time So, in that case, I had an issue with you, but at the same time, in the pleasant game world, I had every reason to go after you. What's the phrase... "I could document this if I wanted to waste the time." I was going to hold off on this, or maybe proxy, since I'll be going to bed early, but between your inconsistent behavior in the town so far, and your desperate arguing today, you seem to be the best choice. Vote: Stanislav (Shadows)

Just a reminder, I'm moving tomorrow. I won't have home Internet for a week or so and will be playing off my phone, but probably I won't be able to give my full attention for a day or two till I'm settled down. -
"Well, you weren't really worried about reaching a conviction, because you specifically said you weren't (no need for me to quote you again, is there?)," Sorry, that wasn't quite right, you said you probably weren't going to vote, and never mentioned a conviction My deepest apologies Stanislav.
-
Really? Don't you have experience in these things? I could swear you use that as a form of justifying your opinion here and there. Like, that old Forest movie, I remember the Hippo tracking the Elephant the first night, and having three people target him. But, Mr. Experience thinks it couldn't be Did I say that? Or did you just make up a straw man argument? <<"A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.">> I didn't put you on my radar for placing a vote, and I didn't say anything of the kind. You got there for saying you probably wouldn't vote, and didn't think much of the penalty, then your next post a day later you voted because of a penalty, which wasn't even a penalty in the rules. Your inconsistency was noticeable, and trying to call suspicion to me for paying attention is again scummy. Again, you have experience, you I don't think you're mispeaking, and I don't think you misheard what I said. You're just being suspicious. Well, you weren't really worried about reaching a conviction, because you specifically said you weren't (no need for me to quote you again, is there?), and we still haven't seen what God's penalty is, so what are you talking about There were three kills, one was the tommy gun killer, the second the poison, and the third was most likely Max, who drank the 'medicine' as Padme. No God-kill. Me too, but your "defense" looks way scummier than Donil's so far. If you didn't manipulate the stuff I said, and then acknowledged the stuff you said, and then just simply make stuff up, I'd feel a little better. We have lots of time in the day to get some more info.
-
Well, I already think his voting and rationale are suspicious, but I think Badboy was killed by the scum; a tommy gun was used. That obviously looks like mafia, doesn't it? If Stanislav was involved, it would have to be as scum, not the SK.
-
I think there's a definite possibility they're both town, though I wish Ruxana would be more forthcoming. But it's that exact possibility that makes this stand out: Stanislav has a lot of confidence in convicting Donil, and if they turn out to be town? Well, you can convict Ruxana the next day. Great strategy, except they could both be telling the truth, in which case, that's only great strategy for scum, and would successfully get two ability townies voted out I might not bring it up, but Stanislav has been on my radar since the first day when he directly contradicted his own logic and helped seal the fate of a townie, again, something a scum would have no trouble doing. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58660&view=findpost&p=1046633 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58660&view=findpost&p=1047430 Of course, ten people didn't vote that day, so he wasn't in any fear of being the only one. It all looks way too scummy to me. It's all circumstantial though, and I wanted it to be out there for the town to keep in mind as we choose between these two. Stanislav seems happy to take them both out. ***I might not bring it up I might not have brought it up

:roflmao: Enjoy being dead, Max I really think the poisoner is the SK or, I have another, much more wacked out idea.... The most obvious thing is they were targeting low participators. Sarah and Max only 'spoke' twice each on day one (I kept count for about 80% of the day). This would put Vera and Dmitri at risk as well... if it's a SK. The best reason to target the non-participators is that they are safer to kill, having attracted less attention and are less likely to be watched or protected. This is what I think happened, but simply me saying this means they'll probably change their approach on night three. My wacked out idea is that it's God's way of increasing participation in the game. By simply killing off the least active person, we all learn a lesson about participating, and the 28 of us will shrink down a lot quicker. But that's just my over-active imagination speaking. God would never play a dirty trick like that.

I don't think Ruxana and Donil would be on the same team. It's hard to imagine Ruxana having such an important role that scum would sacrifice a partner to cover for her. But that second point is the part I'm up in the air about. I was thinking that Ruxana was the most suspicious looking, but was much of the town planning to vote her out? It's possible that this is a scum play to postpone a death for a day, but it seems to be a little early to make a play like that. At the same time, why would a townie out their role like that and give themselves a death sentence As for Donil, he admitted targeting Yuri, so Ruxana is telling that much truth. Ruxana and Donil, you're going to have to make some good cases for yourself today. At the very least, we have a much better case for voting today than the last two days. I can almost smell the dead scum now
-
I really think Yuri got himself killed. When he asked who we should be targeting at night (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58848&view=findpost&p=1049713), I think he outed himself as a town special. Either that a mafioso fishing for info, but scum would know he wasn't scum and so he was a town special. Hopefully somebody else saw that and were tracking him, so his death wasn't wasted. I was also thinking about Petr's claim of a vanilla townie role. I think this puts him in a prime position for recruitment, and will need to have an eye kept on him. I urge any other vanilla townies to keep it to themselves. Oh, and have we figured out what's up with Ruxana? I've looked through what's gone on so far, and only saw repeated requests for clarification, but no clear explanations.

Update! So, I was at Nagasakiya the other day, and lo and behold, I saw series 5. This is so much of the frustration of this system. I know I can buy all 16 for about ¥4,000 including shipping. But the Lego minifigs are in front of me now! Save money/shipped to my door vs. instant gratification. Ah, I can't resist. So, I bought six (graduate, British guard x 2, Egyptian princess, Sherlock, clown). I really wanted the Egyptian and the clown, so that's alright. Of course, two days later, the minifigs were utterly nagging at me, and I went back and got four more (gladiator x 2, fitness instructor, monkey trainer). Money spent? ¥3,000. And I feel sort of dumb too. Minifigs are ¥300 each, and to put the currency in perspective, a McDonalds cheeseburger is currently ¥120. So minifigs are 2.5 cheeseburgers each. These machines are great for Lego, but not for me, the AFOL. And I didn't get the Lizardman. I really wanted that one. I'm sure I'll get it when I toss more money at these machines in the coming weeks though. How popular are these machines? Well, this is normal: But then, so is this, dozens of UFO grabber machines with sexy anime dolls:

I've rushed through what everybody's been saying and need to make a quick vote before my phone dies while I'm awake. I don't think that Petr's scum with the way he's acting today. Barbara hasn't done anything particularly scummy, but she hasn't done anything town either. vote: Barbara (bob) I'm actually hoping neither Petr or Barb get convicted today, but I'd like to have placed a vote in that case.
-
Cheers! It will be running sooner or later, and I hope it makes EB history. By all means, please apply ;)

I don't know about all of this. Yan's story is most likely true, since it's been corroborated by others already. But at the same time, Petr's story today is also most likely true, since it will be easily verifiable in forthcoming days. Of course, they can both be true without conflicting, but people need to vote. I've just drank a few shots of cough syrup vodka, so I'm going to take a nap now. I'll be up before the end of the day, so, if need be, I'll place my vote then. Since ten of us didn't vote yesterday, obviously not every vote is crucial.

Stupid Blue Pee I was a bit baffled by this at first, then recalled posting a Shimajiro youtube clip that I hadn't fully sat through... I'd sat through it a long time ago, but the one I ended up posting had all joke subtitles, including blue pee, that I hadn't seen. Ironically, some of the actual translations are funnier than what they'd written. When the vid shows "Feces, bai-bai," what he actually said was, "Good-bye, poo-friend." Poo-friend is way funnier than feces At home, we've got the toilet training electric toy with sound effects to go with it too! Freaky, strange stuff that I simply go with the flow about.

I just realized that the vodka I was drinking last night was purple, and came in a family size cough syrup bottle. Why would the store sell vodka like that Anyway, the hangover is mostly over, and I've given thought to today's claims and facts. I agree with a lot that was said about Sammy's voting, and that the culprit would have to be on that very long list. It sounds like the only logical answer. I also believe Petr's story. Though it was the first night, it doesn't sound like a one off ability, so it should surface again, probably tonight. It seems like too dangerous a lie to make. I don't think it clears either of them, since they could be bluffing us. Neither were fatal actions, especially Sam's, which had no effect on the vote in the end, so why not use that on them day one? I'm leaning to believe both are town. Both were outspoken on Day One, and in my estimation, town tends to be more vocal up front. I'm suffering from Cough Syrup induced paranoia, so I can't make that call with any confidence though.

Here, you can have one of mine. I have more than I need. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBNUNZuQBKw For the record, I don't know if li'l def "liked" the show exactly, but she was pretty stunned and baffled for the length of the show time. -
I was hoping that referred to the crazy part, but I guess not...

I know people here already think I'm crazy, rather just the porn-loving alcoholic construction worker I am, but I don't think there was anything suspicious with Sammy's (may I call you Sammy? ) vote. In fact, I heard a bellowing commandment from God yesterday while I happened to be blindingly drunk, but I swear I heard it! It went like this: I don't know who this 'Sandy' is, but I wonder if they know Samuel Admittedly, it's not a definitive statement. I hope everyone learned what they were hoping to by sentencing Benji to a six-foot grave. I realize it was a shot in the dark, or should I day, a shot in a well-lit restaurant... But, I'm having second thoughts about my judgment of Petr yesterday, based on his extreme forthcomingness today, so I don't really feel like wagging that annoying finger of shame, lest I be proven a drunken hypocrite later on Was anything learnt last night?

Ah, it's so nice to be within these safe walls after the relentless attacks of the past few weeks. You know what would really hit the spot? A big mug of grog. Barkeeper! Get me a double! And also a booster seat! I can't reach very well

I'm leaving for Sapporo to take my kid to a Shimajiro concert! It's going to be a nightmare, and in a second language. Can you tell how excited I am? I'll be away until late tomorrow night, so if day one starts today and I'm very sporadic that first 24 hours, that's why. Or because I was killed -

I'll throw my two cents in after the game. No meta-gaming and all, you know? Regardless, I'm going to recruit you for my next game whether you like it or not -
Happy birthday! Another year of reckless mafia killing!

I reread Maus last year, and it's as good as ever. Just a stunning work, especially when it gets meta in the second half. I like Deslile's work too, but I've only read Pyongyang. His art is really like and European, reminds me of Trondheim somewhat. As for Japanese work, first off, I'm not Japanese, I've just lived here for a long time Tatsumi is an excellent artist, but he came of age in the 1950's, with a lot of film influence. At that time, comics were slightly juvenile or stuck in genre, and he pushed the boundaries a lot. Drawn & Quarterly have been republishing his 1960's work for the last few years. The stuff it reminds me most of is Akira Kuraswa's Ikiru. There's a lot of quiet drama about living in Tokyo at the time; the anonymity of being in one of the biggest cities in the world, the shift from a traditional society to a business one, and just feeling lost and useless. And there are a lot of scenes of people using their power over one another, usually emotional power. I haven't seen Ozu's work, but from what I know he was into human stories too. The autobiography Tatsumi is a lot lighter in tone than his young work, but I guess that's a result of coming to terms with his life. Artists like Art Spigleman and Adrian Tomine were big fans of him, so that's why I started checking out his stuff. I can read Japanese, but it can give me a headache after a while, so I don't check out the comics here that much. Too much Dragonball/One Piece/etc all over the place. One artist I really like though is Natsume Ono. She does really thoughtful work, and has that style that grounds manga (solid perspective, backgrounds) but her line work is a lot more expressive. She's great. The comic shops here are labyrinthine, so they're hard to navigate. Occasionally I'll go to a hipster store which will have a little comic rack of undergrounds and skim something there. Unfortunately, Japanese publishing is in the same position as American publishing. The vast majority of work is escapist fantasy. Which is fun, but I can't eat ice cream all the time every day, and I can't read escapist work all the time either. For a general work about society here, the kacho (manager) series will tell you about life here, and there is a bilingual version, I suppose to help Japanese learn English. link It's about a successful manager who slowly moves up in his company. It can teach you about Japanese business culture, behaviour, that sort of thing, but... I hated this book. The lead character is honorable, always does the right thing, and is totally boring IMHO. He is an idealized successful Japanese man. There are loads in the series though, and it's not a hard investment for one volume.

I think it's pretty funny how people say we can learn things from the vote, but most people are just voting as part of a herd. I actually thought Petr looked suspicious (for the three or four reasons I gave) so I voted him. Benji is acting like the majority of others here (ie. "We have to vote, we learn from votes, there is a penalty, I'm waiting to vote.") Even if Benji is convicted, I think we'll have learned nothing from today's vote, other than that people don't seem to need a reason to vote someone out except than a looming penalty. Color me frustrated. Benji, I hope you're scum and I'm wrong, then I can eat my humble pie and apologize to everyone tomorrow. To the rest of the town, sorry, I can't vote for someone who isn't the guiltiest looking, and Benji is not it.
