I'm assuming that the 'gap' represents a 'saddle blanket' that is over the chainmail and under the saddle. If you take a look in those pics, you can see the 'rings' continue along the 'gap' (which has the red/white checkerboard) on the one set of barding, while the others are basically bare. I think it's just an easy cost-cutting measure for LEGO, that still provides us with some pretty sweet horse armour.

I've tried to "draw the line" time and time again and I always fail. I tried to not collect PQ. Failed. I tried to not collect AC. Failed. I tried to not collect Kingdoms. Failed. *sigh* I'm destined to be broke forever.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Ogre replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I didn't think this really warranted a new thread and I couldn't think of where else it belonged... I was cruising Amazon.ca last night and saw that there are two new minifigure alarm clocks poised to hit the shelves...Jack Sparrow and Barbossa. No pics available yet, just a product listing. -
All the summer sets are supposed to now be available via S@H and I believe they are at all the major retailers now, too. I know that even Mastermind Toys has them, since I just received their email notification the other day about the new sets being 'in stock'.

Sign me up for that club, too! LOL **edit** Updated pic of my Lions. Not the best arrangement but, it was just a 'quick photo op' type of thing. Still have to do my Dragons. I DID finally arrange all my Lions with 'proper' torsos (IMO). Example: crossbowmen have the red and white torso, spearmen have armoured, etc., etc. Also a shot of my new 'apple orchard'.

Heads up, my fellow 'cultists'! The Cult of LEGO
-
*head smack* I keep forgetting to ask that! LOL I'm very curious as to how many folks showed for all four days and how many people attended the 'public day'.
-
You're welcome. Some absolutely STUNNING creations. Pics just don't do many of them justice, at ALL. My only regret? Not being able to make it for all four days! *cough* Um, yeah...the 'kids'. No, I didn't grab a moose and that's my other regret of the day. Should have snagged one, just to have a momento of our first ever LEGO convention. (though I DID snag a button, key chain and train cargo container, so it wasn't a complete loss)
-
My wife and I were the first ones through the doors and we went to the train room first (pure dumb luck, really) and there weren't too many people at that time. Worked out well because, as we were leaving, it was getting QUITE busy in there. Nope, no camera bag here. Just a little digital 'point and shoot'. Heck, didn't even have a bag of ANY sort until after leaving the main floor, heading upstairs and buying a shirt. ("large only" WTF? Oh well, maybe I'll frame it for my LEGO room. *g*)

Indeed. The rest of his collection was equally impressive...and I noticed he spent lots of time answering the seemingly ENDLESS questions from the kids. Very cool.
-
I wanted to walk away with just about everything you had on display! Blueandwhite: I took lots of pics both upstairs and downstairs. Flickr only lets me load 200 but, most of those are from the lower level displays. My Brickfete photos Oh, yeah...I was the big guy with the shaved head and sleeveless plaid shirt wandering around with my wife on Saturday, taking pics of everything I could lay my eyes on. BTW...congratulations to the organizers! Y'all put on a wonderful show!
-
On Saturday, I scored a bunch of custom minifigs/parts, as well as t-shirts, keychain, button and custom 'train container' from Brickfete 2011. Was a great day and a great show. I hope it becomes and annual thing.
-
Would you perhaps be the fellow with the 'alien robot assembly plant' that the kids were going NUTS over? If so...you sir, are one seriously awesome builder. Was quite miffed to discover they only allow 200 pics per 'non-paying' account. I had to chop some gems. No fancy camera here, just a digital "point and shoot"... My Brickfete photos

After looking at a bunch of SDCC pics of the new figs and looking back on some older figs (Bats and Spidey), I REALLY wish that LEGO would just bite the bullet and MOLD the hero heads where required, instead of having these MASSIVE (and totally out of scale) 'helmet heads'. Batman, Iron Man, Catwoman...they all look like crap with those huge over-sized pieces of headgear. Molding the heads, a la 'SP III', Toy Story and 'Alien Conquest' would look much better, IMO. And also, it would get rid of the friggin' stud at the top of the minifigs head on characters such as Captain America, too! That look has always bugged me when used for a bald fig but, it bugs me even more when the character is wearing a mask (Cap, Spidey). Small changes that could make a HUGE difference. (And I really hope they articulate Hulk. Sheesh.)

THIS WEEKEND! Heavy T.O & Heavy MTL!!! Megadeth, Anthrax, Motorhead, Testament, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Exodus, Death Angel, Kiss, Godsmack and many more! One weekend, one MASSIVE metal experience!!! Pick your city and get BLOWN AWAY! \m/ \m/

Yeah, I'm thinking that 'next to the food court' isn't the best idea. STILL no catalogue for me! Called Canada Post and complained, AGAIN...to no avail, of course. "There's nothing we can do." Really? Then how about you sad-sack pieces of garbage get OUT of the mail delivery business, since it's quite obvious that you are incapable of DELIVERING the mail!!! Sheesh. Emailed LEGO. They sent a new catalogue and Club magazine out to me. Should arrive next week. See, Canada Post? THAT is customer service! Obviously LEGO CARES about THEIR customers! Waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, Fairview was a great mall...totally 'middle class', with something for everyone. Then, in the 80s, it got renovated and became a little more 'upscale', in the same vein as Promenade Mall, though not quite as 'snobby'. Now though. Ugh. MUCH more 'nose in the air'...and STC is going the same route. Trying to attract the business from all the condos that are being built around both malls now, I guess.

ABSOLUTELY! The modern stuff is 'okay' but, I'm a massive fan of GB's 1960's classic.

Deadpool movie coming out, so it makes sense. I'm STILL freaking out! Seriously, this is pretty much the best news I could get from LEGO, aside from hearing that from now on, all LEGO would be given away free. Thank you TLG...you've made this fanboy's day...week...month...year...decade...

I don't know whether to do the happy dance, or cry in my beer due to not being a SDCC to snag those beauties! Either way, I'M...FREAKING...OUT!

Why do you collect the Collectible Minifigures?
Ogre replied to thegurumb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Reasons why I collect them: I like the variety of figures included in each series. I like the unique figures that have appeared in the CMF line, that most likely would never have shown up in a set. I like the fact that I can 'army build' certain specific figs without breaking the bank TOO badly (though the time required to find them now is a bit of pain...really miss the barcodes). I like the new parts that have appeared due to the CMF line. I've been a minifig fan since they first appeared and the CMFs just fuel that love. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures display cases
Ogre replied to BigDumbWookiee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
New to this thread, so apologies for the late input. It's nice to see LEGO put out something that holds a complete series of CMFs...BUT.. 1) They're awfully big. Too long and too tall to be a great storage solution, unless you have a LOT of space. Just imagine having one of these for 8-10 series of CMFs. Ugh. 2) I know it says that they're both stackable (large and small) but, I'd like to see a pic of two large ones stacked, since all too often 'stackable' means you can stack the small on the large but, that's it. 3) Rather pricey for such a 'meh' case. 4) The small one is a rip-off, when compared to the large one (at least for the prices I've seen so far). -
Favourite Series 1-3 LEGO Minifig Collection?
Ogre replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
For me, it was a toss-up between the Elf and the Spartan, with the Elf winning out. I already have a ton of Spartans, but only ten elves...and, quite honestly, it is one GORGEOUS minifigure! The quality of the printing is just OUTSTANDING. No other CMF comes CLOSE, IMO, not even my beloved Spartan. To get MORE, of course.
