  1. Yikes! I'll gladly swap you a station set for falling water if you are still keen! I too think you will get a decent price for it on TM, but if you still want to go ahead with a trade, I'll be more than happy do that with you! PM me if you are still keen.
  2. Oh man! $150 is stupid! Just as Im getting into trains too! I just checked on BL, and prices start from $63NZD. Sorry Lego.com, but Im going down the BL path for these now. And yes - it was the May promo for free shipping. I got a Green Grocer and some other smaller sets - Plus a really nice sticker sheet of SW characters
  3. Ive done a few orders over the years, and have found that times do vary. For example, back in 2007, I bought a UCS ATST, and it took about 6 days, which was awesome. Last year, I took advantage of the free shipping deal, but waited about 3 weeks for the sets to arrive. Im guessing that Lego may have a fixed amount of staff who work in dispatch, so they may get behind at busy times. In all occasions though, they have always showed up in excellent condition and well packed. Some things are worth the wait:)
  4. Looks like everywhere I have tried for the TS train have run out. There are a few shops around with it at the original RRP of $199, but Ill flag at that price. Theres also a few on TM, including one with a start/reserve price of $109. BUT, I've just had a look at the new Maersk train set in the the Train Tech forum, and may just wait for that instead - perhaps a Port scene with the Maersk boat? Hey Dragonator - I think I want a Maersk ship now - perhaps we should do an order!!!!
  5. Is it my imagination, or have some of the prices on Lego.com gone down?? For example - 7939 Cargo train is listed at $339, 10213 Shuttle adventure is $169, 8097 Slave 1 is listed at $179, 10193 MMV is listed at $169. These are not listed as specials, but as normal pricing. Could it be that some of our prices have been re-evaluated with the consistently high NZ dollar? Or am I just completely bonkers, and prices have always been at this level? Oh - and thanks everyone who made suggestions around where to get a TS train - Ill be calling around shops tomorrow to see who I can get one off!
  6. Hey Allan - did you see if there were any TS train sets there?? would quite like one of those:)
  7. Just got the Farmers catalogue in the mail.... 20% off Clone Trooper BP, Mandalorian BP, Imperial V-wing and Battle of Naboo. And all the new wave Atlantis sets have hit Toyworld. I quite like the temple - those new fluted bricks are purty...
  8. That would be awesome! - But the only way to do this would be to avoid the interwebs altogether. Even if Lego themselves did a surprise reveal by simply stocking a new set on the shelves, an eager fan with a cellphone camera would have it all over the web within minutes. In fact, isnt that one of the reasons for this thread, and arguably, this entire site to exist? Back on topic though, Ive also heard strong rumours from local retailers about a Pet shop being the next modular.
  9. I was in KMart Porirua this morning, and can confirm that the BP's have $18 tickets on them, so the person who told you otherwise was probably unaware.... I also did a drive around of the majority of the Wellington Lego outlets today (Wellington, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Johnsonville), and noticed that most shops are running very low on Lego stock - especially Kmart. Perhaps Lego NZ havent delivered too many of their post Christmas orders? I did find a few odd sets out and about though - TW Lower Hutt had a few UCS AT-ST's and TW Johnsonville had some train tracks (well, they did before I got there.....). In saying all that though, I do get 95% of my bricks through BL or TM:) BTW - Dragonator - did you get those Maersk sets through Lego.com?
  10. Hey - was just in TW Porirua, and they had 3 of these on the shelves if you are still looking for it....
  11. Back in 2004, Lego did a huge clean up of their colour palette, a part of which was a transition of the Grey colours. Have a read of this article as to why TLG did the change - its quite interesting. LINK In answer to your question though, Blueish Grey (or Bley) comes in 2 flavours - Light and Dark. They are named so, as although they really are grey, they have a slight bluish tint - kind of like a smurf fell into the plastic molding machine. The colour difference is especially obvious when the newer bley bricks are sitting next to their old counterparts. The older grey has a brown undertone, and IMHO, looks, well - a bit dirty. Heres another website that has a comparison. LINK. So, Dark Grey and Light Grey have not been produced since 2003 / 2004, so all Grey bricks released since then have been of the 'Bley' variety. Hope this helps.
  12. Hey all - does anyone have any RC train stuff they want to sell? Im after anything from track (not flexible though - blurgh!!!), to motors, windows through to whole sets. Im only working in RC, but will also take a look at 9V bits too:) PM me if you have cool stuff that you want sold! Im also selling my UCS Falcon too - so if anyones keen there, PM away!
  13. Oh man that was a sweeeeeet deal! - I wish I got more than 2 of them! I would love to have snapped up a few more Green Grocers when they were on special last week too, but they all sold out. Boo. Very tempting to get a Maersk set, especially with all those lovely blue bricks, but Im actually more interested in getting the UCS Obi-Wan JSF if you are planning a S@H order. $139 is not too shabby.
  14. I tried doing this a few months ago - All was going well in my calculations untill i got to these parts.... This one And this one All of a sudden, a relative bargain turned into a expensive folly. Honestly - for anyone who missed out on the TM auction, get one from BL for less than $500NZD plus postage.
  15. Hey all - One of my old school friends who works for the Kapi-Mana newspaper (Kapiti / Porirua / wellington) is writing a feature article for the paper on Adult Lego Fans - and is basically looking for a couple of other Lego-minded folk from the region, who'd be happy to talk to about our Lego passion and have some interesting things to say, and cool stuff to document. If you are based in the lower North Island and would be keen to be interviewed, please let me know so I can get the paper to contact you. (FYI - Im being interviewed next Tuesday) Cheers:)
  16. Like Draggy, Ive also got the same contact:) The 'dragon' minifigure is like a person in a godzilla style costume - similar to the Ape / Monkey in S3. It looks pretty cool. What Im really confused about is the frequency of the Minifigure releases. As Draggy has already said, we are expecting S3,4 and 5 in 2011, which IMHO is far too much too quickly. Im also intrigued by the 'Pet shop' modular building. It sounds a bit odd for TLG to be doing something like that when I would be expecting something more, Um, Serious.... Like a Bank, Library, or something Civic. Perhaps It'll be a small Pet shop on the bottom, and apartments upstairs - Ala Market Street with its croissant / bakery downstairs.
  17. Hey all - Just finished my 10197 Fire Brigade layby, and built it up today. Um yeah..... not really that impressed when its sitting with my other modular buildings. In fact - Im quite disappointed. If anyone here is wanting this set, and would consider trading for a Green Grocer or Grand Emporium in new or used condition - Let me know!!!. On another note - The 8087 TIE defender is in the next TW catalog for $39.99. I think it starts next week. No way in hades I'd pay the RRP of $109 for it, but $39 is quite tempting.....
  18. Yep - Me and the boss contacted all of the Warehouses in the Wellington region, and they were all gone. We found out around midday, and got told by pretty much every store that they were gone by 9am. Im not that into Pirates myself, but $30 is a bargain! - kinda like the $4 city Minifigure packs a month ago (wink wink Dragonator....) I notice on TM that there are a few on there now. But all for more than $100. Hmmmmmmmm.
  19. Was browsing through the Warehouse website and noticed that they have the 10187 VW Beetle for the online only price $149.99. Considering this is a $220 retail set, and is hard to find, this is a pretty good deal:) Offer ends 2/11. LINK
  20. I actually forgot that there was a train in the TS line-up. I wasnt remotely interested in the train when i first saw it, but for $99, it might actually be tempted (looks at clock to see if local warehouse is open....). Make sure you post pics etc when you modify it.. EDIT - Boo, none of the local Warehouses have it. If any one spies one this weekend, can they please let me know and Ill get in touch with the warehouse in question. Cheers.
  21. Good to see lots of photos Dragonator! And Allan - yes, 7 metres x 1.2 meters will be fine! The more the merrier basically! I hopefully will have finished my SW or Train project by then, so it should be even better next year.
  22. Hey folks - Im after a single piece to make a set 100% complete - its a TrLtBlue, Bar 4L Light Sabre Blade (part # 30374). Can anyone here assist? Happy to pay a few dollars and postage for the trouble. Let me know:)
  23. I actually saw the franchise ad for it on TM last night and was wondering about it too. Sounds like a good idea in principle at least. I remember about 17 years ago I was having some tutoring for School Cert Science, and the tutor company had a Lego Technic course so you could learn about basic mechanics etc. Occasionally I would have a play after my course with the obscene amount of Lego they owned. It was awesome!
  24. And I second that! The show was lots of fun, and some fantastic entries. Hopefully next year we will see some more EB members come on in too. Looking forward to the photos!
  25. Hi All - Just to let everyone know, Toyworld Coastlands (on the Kapiti Coast, Wellington) are holding a Lego Building and Display show on the weekend of 2/3 October. Its an opportunity for people to build their own models and bring them in to show off to the public. The show will be held at Coastlands Mall in the vacant shop opposite Paper plus, near the south entrance of the mall from 9-5.30 Saturday the 2nd and 10-3 Sunday 3rd. There will be a whole bunch of rare and collectable Lego sets on display too (Hopefully the entire SW UCS line) plus building tables, competitions and Lego Movies on show. Prizes for each age category and free giveaways too! Last time there were over 150 entries, and some amazing models in all sizes and shapes. This year should be even better! Email coastlands@toyworld.co.nz for any further information. Hope to see some EB members there:)
