  1. Those uniforms in the first 2 pictures are British, and the people here are in India. Note the text under the second picture. Great Britain made India to their colony in the late 18th century after they kicked the Dutch away. So I think they are from the late 18th century.
  2. Nothing to add here, it's just a very, very good job. A lot of details and interesting new techniques. I'm looking forward to see your upcoming MOCs! Great job!
  3. I was wondering about the hole in the stern hull section already... I have no BB so I don't exactly know how the hull sections look like. But as you said, it worked out well.
  4. I can't say it better! Wonderful ship Admiral! I hope the work on the sails will go well so your ship can set sail very soon! Keep up the mighty good work!
  5. We simply took it over... But Lukemax, have you started working on another ship? I'd like to see more of this kind ships since they are very nice! I've seen your HMS Ajax...
  6. I think that's a good idea. I'm still not sure about the length of the ship but we will see how this turns out! Are you planning to place gunports to it? I'm wondering in which colour... dark red perhaps? But in other news: HOUNDBLOWER'S BIG SECRET REVEALED: Will the HMS Ubiquitous sail for the Bluecoat Navy after all? Check the second and third picture, what do you see in the upper left corner? That looks quite blue to me, do you have to explain something dear Houndblower? I'd love to have you on our side!
  7. Your help is always appreciated! Thanks! I also like the top flag better, that's also the new one Oh and I think we bluecoats can design and build very good ships! You will experience that soon enough. :pir-skull: Thanks Captain! I agree the carronade is a bit small, good idea to make it larger. I think I will order 8 midsections so I can try something out. And it this stage of the build it's never too late to remove one. And I have a spare bow and stern hull section so perhaps I can make a small ship extra using the 8th midsection. I have known how your ship is getting too high with the Le Formidable . Since that project (almost finished) I've gained a lot of experience so the mistakes from then won't be here now. With minifig accuracy I mean more distance between the gunports (3-4 studs instead of 2). Slightly higher gundecks so I can add minifigs, cannons and furniture in there, and also the captain and admiral cabin will have an interior. The ship will be modular so I can easily take it apart to transport it and repairing it from the inside. She will be roughly based on this ship model, although the coloursheme will be a bit different.
  8. Thank you for your very useful advices Errorist! I'm planning to make toilets in the galleries with a small wall between the galleries and the actual cabin. I've seen some movies and I saw what you meant. I'm still worried about using 7 or 8 midsections, I think I will order 8 so I can always remove one. The ship isn't going to be in the same building style as the HMS Prince of Wales and the Mort Royal, mines will be slightly more minifig accurate so it will be larger. Today I've made some accessoires for the ship! Me and my parrot checking the new accessoires for the ship. I've made the ship's bell, an example of a carronade and a new designed lantern for the stern. A better view at the ship's bell. This one is similar to the one the Le Formidable currently has. Perhaps I change the bell since the bell had a roof above it, resting on 4 poles instead of 2. A 68 pounder carronade, not completely my design. I have seen the barrel and base somewhere else but there are so many combinations with those kind of bricks. The Le Fourageux will have 2 or 4 carronades on the forecastle. Soon I will fill the barrel with a large 68 pound cannonball and a lot of musket rounds, resulting in a devestating blow on the enemy ship... The new lantern for the Le Fourageux, she will get 3 of 'em. I'm quite pleased with the lantern, the Le Formidable has also this kind of lanterns but slightly different and less detailed. She will set sail under this flag, the crown, crossed cannons and cannonballs patterns on the flag are ImperialShadows's design. The colours are a bit off since the yellow cardridge of my printer is still empty... I also have to print it on a larger dpi scale. But perhaps I will add the flag of the Le Formidable also to the Le Fourageux's stern as well, which one do you guys prefer? ImperialShadows's patterns have also been used here. That was it for now! Comments are welcome!!
  9. Awesome update Houndblower! I like the progress on the cabin a lot. There is even an interior already! And...*gasp* is it going to have 2 gundecks? I have to make progress on my ship asap! Seriously, I think this ship will turn out really good, although I think it's a bit too short for a ship with two gundecks. The deck looks really good with the dark brown pieces in it. Why it has no rudder? Your ship is steerless! Although you can steer with the sails as well. Keep it up matey! You're doing great!
  10. They have one, the Armada Flagship. It's a 567th rate ship with 1 cannon and a magnificient ammount of crew: 3 men. Not enough to aid us in battle I'm afraid... It's useful to feed the cannons of the Redcoat fleet though, to distract them.
  11. Ah, I see them. Perhaps it's better to hang them somewhere else.
  12. We're really sliding off topic now, I thought this topic was about Houndblower's ship. We'd better discuss this "matter" in a seperate topic somewhere in the future. Of course I have seen the pictures, but it's not a realistic battle. A brig with about 20 guns against the 104 guns of the Victory... And brigs weren't active in heavy seabattles, brigs are escort and small warships. Not even a rated ship so it wasn't classified for battle. The British had 6th rates to 1st rates which were used for battle.
  13. I've made the template on Paint Shop Pro 7, so I could measure the dimensions. The shield is made on MS Paint, since I have quite some experience with drawing on MS Paint. It goes pretty fast and it's simple to use. For more complicated decals I work with Paint Shop Pro 7. Thanks for you kind words!
  14. Those decals are very good Clone Killer! I have experienced I had the perfect colour to match a blue minifig torso, but the printer ruined it thanks to an half-empty yellow cardridge. I think the printer and cardridge quality are a very important factor in printing decals. If only one colour fails, the rest will fail too. Although it's not that obvious, it is still very annoying because you know the colour isn't right.
  15. It's not fair to call your friends from years ago, the ships maybe don't even exist anymore. I think it will be a nice challenge to fight your 113 gun flagship! And I'm looking forward to see it, since it really looks a cool project. In the time your ship is finished I (hope) to have a fleet of a sixth rate (Le Formidable) a fourth rate (Le Fourageux) and another secret project I'm thinking on. It's not a first rate though. I haven't that much room in my room to store my vessels, and I want to keep them! Don't forget it's about tactics, outnumbered guns are only an adventage matey. I've studied some books with fantastic tactics... And Empire Total War proves it really works...
  16. Awesome piece of work again Z! I really like the new version, very highly detailed! Nice architecture as well. It has a very Spanish/Portugese look now, which I really like! This looks more like a holy building instead of a fortress! The total project is such an amazing view with the immense cathedral near it... I think some flags here and there would add the last bit of detail to it.
  17. Naa, not before we even encountered you at open sea... Those ships aren't small ships... most of them are fourth rates. And how dare you to forget the Le Formidable! 24 guns isn't that weak otherwise... YnyklY's ship the L'Aigle isn't finished yet, you will be shocked when you see it set course towards you! Oh and wait, there's something in my shipyard as well... another fourth rate with 40+ guns... So be gentle and don't ask for surrender, it seems to be you are afraid and you want to avoid a fight... We'll see what the future brings! Nice name you've got now Houndblower! Now you should only fix your signature. Erm... never mind...
  18. Not if I had took part in it... Thanks! Previous post edited.
  19. I have lived a looong time without professional image editing programs, in that time I did it with MS Paint. It sounds funny but I'm quite experienced with MS Paint since I've worked so long with it. (even before I knew Eurobricks) So perhaps you can try that out as well. Although those letters are fine to me.
  20. I think he means the seabattle of Copenhagen where the British attacked the Danish. Because Denmark had an alliance with Russia and France, the alliance tried to ruin England's economy by closing their ports for English ships. One of Napoleons plans to ruin England.
  21. Prepare the gallows! I'd suggest make them yellow, that will fit nicely with the coloursheme. And perhaps another midsection since it looks a bit bulky now. I don't know which colour I should use for the gunports, dark red probably. In real the width of the stern should fit 6 times in the length of the ship for the ideal dimensions. In LEGO it's different of course. My stern fits 4,5 times in the length. It looks like you've got an awesome ship there so far, be careful though the Bluecoats won't steal the design!!
  22. I agree the update is nice. The minifigure at the stern adds a lot! Much better then just a yellow wall. Unfortunately it sails for the Redcoats if I may believe Joey Lock, so it's my duty to sink it asap.
  23. Looks great! I love it. The colours really give it a "royal" feeling. It's a bit long for a carriage I think but I still like the shape. I would add small low fences on the roof, and lanterns to add some detail on it. Although it's very nicely decorated already.
  24. I love it as well! The gardens are very nice. The tennisfield is funny! I've never seen that before here on the pirate forum. The croquet game is cool too, and the alligator as guard dog... The boathouse is from simple design, which looks great. I think the boathouse makes the MOC complete. Oh and I love the stagecoach!!
  25. But of course, I will see what I can do! It should be done soon.
