  1. Looking good Admiral! Lovely to see the classic Bluecoats again instead of the new Redcoats. I'm fond of the docks, the stones along the sides add a lot. The fight looks great as well, the cap used as blood is nice. I should remove the red stones in the building since there are already tan accents in there, I think the red stones make the coloursheme a bit crowded. But that's just my opinion. I hope you will make more MOCs in the future!
  2. Haha, this is probably one of the funniest videos you've made so far. Especially the "fight", is hilarious. And you play a role in your barrel as well. The Morricone music fits perfect in here. Great video!
  3. Awesome review Guss! I see your Reviewers Acedemy badge turned into silver, perhaps that was already earlier, but I just notice it. I never knew this small set could be such a nice one, I wish I had one since I can use the pieces! I have no islanders at all so... Thanks for letting me know this set is quite awesome!
  4. That's great! The admirality is back and active again in CP! Congratulations Zorro! I can't believe you climb the ranks so quickly! Great job!! I think and hope you will do your work for a long time, and I also hope you really enjoy your position. Good luck in the future, and I'm happy to serve under your flag!
  5. I think LEGO adds fantasy things in it to add more playability. Remember LEGO is also for children, and they like to play with it. I don't like the fantasy items in the castle sets either but for me it's not a reason to not to buy them. I'm not a dragon and wizard guy. The market village for example, is one of my favorite sets ever. Very realistic and historic accurate, no fantasy stuff like skellies and so on in there. However, I still like it to see large skellie and dragon armies for example. Fantasy can be very cool but it shouldn't be mixed with the realistic things.
  6. With a free EB member called Broadside to assemble them together.
  7. Yellow to me, they look good on almost every uniform. And they fit better with the classic pirate LEGO torso's then the new gold. However, the gold epaulettes are nice as well.
  8. Gallics lived in France, the Celts in England. The Germans lived in what is now Germany and all together they are called the Barbarians. It would be awesome if this theme would be released somewhere in the future.
  9. So where's my ship with 6 midsections? The upcoming ship will have 7 or 8. I'm "outclassed".
  10. Nice, nice! Once again a very nice leg technique. It looks pretty realistic. I'm not sure of the very straight arms but that's just a small detail. Keep it up!
  11. In real the ship's classes ran from 1st rates to 6th rates. They were classified for battle to see which ship participates and which ship doesn't. Of course there were smaller ships then 6th rates but they were only good for transporting and escorting missions since they were just too small to fight in battles. The ship's class was based on it's ammount of guns, not the length of the ship.
  12. I only remember I have seen blue epaulettes on Spanish officers with a black, yellow and red uniforms on a painting. I also think they were quite rare, but they existed.
  13. A quite large port, loong not finished because it are just buildings on baseplates. I need a nice landscape first. I also have a lot of LEGO trains and a lot of other town themed LEGO from the past years. I'm active with Pirate LEGO only a year or so, so I don't have that much good pirate building bricks. And I have all my ship bricks (hull sections, masts, cannons...) used on the Le Formidable. That's why the Le Fourageux will be an expensive one, I have to start with nothing! But I will get there... no worries.
  14. I can't be always ungrateful, after all, outside the battles we're all gentlemen. Unfortunately I just discovered something terrefying, if we have a contest somewhere in the coming months I'm in trouble since all my bricks are used at the moment. And I don't want to order bricks for a contest, the Le Fourageux turns out pretty expensive already...
  15. Very good decals again Woody! According to the pictures they are very accurate and detailed. The only thing what is buggin me are the white hats, they are awesome customs ofcourse, but I think you really should paint them black. Otherwise, great job again! Are you planning to make a very large battle diorame somewhere in the future? That would be awesome!
  16. I like contests a lot and like SlyOwl said you can gain a lot of building experience. I had that with the previous contest. And you don't need to build only for contests. And you don't need to join a contest only for the prizes. A contest is alway great fun!
  17. In my LEGO ships I am happy if there is 1 men per cannon. So I would place 1-2 men per cannon, a captain, some officers and some soldiers. You've done a good job buying the cannons for that price. Good luck on the build!
  18. It looks great Commodore! A large warehouse always comes in handy if the hold is already filled. With the small British vessels the holds are full in no time so it's good to have such a large building on the shore. The storehouse is pretty well built with it's rock base and wood structure. And it is modular, which is always very important to me since I also take care of interiors. Oh and I really like the goodies, carts and the army outside. Occupying this storehouse is top priority to the Bluecoats now, since it looks very important to the reddies.
  19. Of course I understand you go for realism, but I don't think the red stones are nice on the chimney, red clashes with grey. It looks more you had a shortage on bricks. Personally I should replace them with dark grey, or place grey headlight bricks on the chimney and place a red 1x2 tile on them to create a stone effect. Just my two cents.
  20. The word awesome can't even describe this wonderful MOC! I'm a big fan of your buildings, the merchant's guild looks awesome! The ship is even cooler, I have never seen a sail like that, and it turned out really, really good! The rest of the cog is somewhat boxy but I think you've done a great job on the ship. I like the cart on the square too. The docks are also really nice but I should also cobble the stairs to the jetty. Awesome build!
  21. Bring it on... you have no chance against my superior naval battle skills! :pir-skull: Are you planning to build a ship too? The more ships on this forum the better!
  22. I think the most people here are between 18-40. We can almost call ourself the LEGO generation.
  23. It was a disaster indeed if another ship fires the whole broadside through your stern. But even if you have cannons in there, they still shoot through the stern anyway. Just make sure to sail correctly so your ship's stern isn't exposed to enemy fire. In fact there were no cannons sticking out of the back of the cabin, the cannons were a deck below. Here you can see what I mean, the cannons at the back, on the red hull section. Above the gundeck is the great cabin. I hope that might help, I have been struggling with this problem a long time. Untill I decided to make a large ship with several decks.
  24. I wish I never reminded you on that. The less cannons on a Redcoat ship, the better. But are you planning to secure the top deck on the gundeck? You won't be able to change things inside. Making a ship modular is a challenge but very handy if you want to transport it, repair it, or upgrade it. At least, I try to make my ships so modular as possible. The Formidable can be taken apart to the hull sections in a few minutes. And now I'm going to sleep... 0:24 here.
  25. I like it! Especially the pillar at the right looks very realistic. I'm not sure about the colours on the chimney though. The shed looks cool anyway. It sounds a cool project you're working on L-Space, keep it up.
