The "La Formidable" 24 gun ship opening!
Captain Blackmoor replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
I am aware of my double post and I apologize for it. This post contains the first update of the Le Formidable. Hopefully you enjoy it! As you see the ship has his masts but no ropes and stuff on it, it will come later on and I'm still trying to get it perfect. The main part of the update is the stern. I noticed the steering wheel was almost in the middle of the ship so I placed it backwards. The ship is still modular and can be taken apart at any time. The deck has no tan colours yet because I can't make the decision to tile the deck with tan tiles or just tan plates. A pic where you can see the stern from another view, some windows frames have no windows in it, another thing I have to order ASAP. I have to replace the grey parrots with yellow ones too. There are some changes in the colour sheme of the bow and the anchor beams have been updated. The anchors are in place as well. The front of the ship. It looks pretty fearsome from here. That was it! I've made some more changes but they are quite small. I'll post some updates soon! Thanks for watching, feedback always appreciated! -
Stunning update! I love the tiled deck, a thing I might try myself too. But I thought Nelson was shot at the Poop deck by a sniper from the Redoutable and that he died in the Sickbay. Or didn't he. Lookin' forward to see the next update!

Hmm this is an interesting thing which I'm going to try myself soon. I was advised by CGH to use wide brown hulls with a black trim on it for my ship here, but they don't exist. Now where is my airbrush?

REVIEW: 7418 Scorpion Palace
Captain Blackmoor replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like both the review and the set. Unfortunately I don't own it. I only own the China Fortress and the big building on the everest. Great sets by the way! -
The disney deal, implications to the pirate theme?
Captain Blackmoor replied to n'henk pas's topic in LEGO Pirates
I totally disagree with you about that. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are the best movies I've ever seen. The last one was a bit over done but movie 1 and 2 are just Just my opninion. Everyone has different taste of movies. For example: I totally don't like Stat Wars. But many people do! -
The "La Formidable" 24 gun ship opening!
Captain Blackmoor replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks Guss for your little lesson of French ship names. From now on it will be the Le Formidable. Also thanks for your compliments. The prisoner tradition is not really popular but I've heard it from YnyklY and I've read about it in a few books. I thought it would be a nice addition to the openings ceremony. :pir-skull: You're right about the hull colours, I was planning to change the hulls for brown ones with black trim. The turtorial is very helpful though. Also thanks for your kind words and tips. Check this thread for some updates soon! -
Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!

Exciting...! Funny thing is that I post updates for the La Formidable soon too. -
The disney deal, implications to the pirate theme?
Captain Blackmoor replied to n'henk pas's topic in LEGO Pirates
Remember the Pirates of the Caribbean license isn't cheap. Spiderman and Indy didn't cost that much because it was not that popular like Pirates of the Caribbean. But I still hope TLC will release Pirate of the Caribbean sets though! -
I mean the four rotating blades on the mill, wieken in Dutch. I don't speak English that well (but I try) so I put 'wieken' into babelfish.yahoo.com and it came up with 'wicks'.

My version of the new Gold Knight
Captain Blackmoor replied to diabloiij's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I noticed that as well, but the painted parts are very well done. A suggestion might be to paint the plume in the same dark blue as the chestplate and shield. It would fit better in the colour sheme like that way. Or you might find it a waste from the nice plume by painting it. Just my opinion... -
Congratulations guys! You have truely deserved it! I'm looking forward to the good things you both will do in the future for Classic Pirates!

Review: 6192 Pirate Building Set
Captain Blackmoor replied to Skull-Mark_Ladybug's topic in LEGO Pirates
A treasure chest I think. There are images with the gems inside it. But now you say it, it looks like a clam indeed. I leave it up to your imagination. -
Great MOC, I've seen this before and it's still interesting to look at. May I use your wicks for my own creations as well? They are very clever. Oh and I love the creepy minifig in it.

I agree with Zorro, this is very interesting and I'm curious how you did this too. It looks excellent! -
One supersized Battle Cannon, do you want fries with that?
Captain Blackmoor replied to RTN LNA's topic in Pirate MOCs
I don't want to meet THAT on the battlefield! Another great creation. I agree about the idea of making large cannonballs as well. -

A great review from a great set. The minifig and accessoires makes this set great for me. -
I like this a lot, I see nice usage of the baseplates, the roof is absolutely awesome. I've never seen this technique before somewhere! There are lots of details in the bar himself, I recognize things from the bar in our own town! A very nice creation!

Yeah this looks quite well. I like how the Soldiers Fort is combined into the port, the ship seems to be nice too. I agree with the above to see a thread about the ship as well. I only dislike the knights in this MOC but that's just my opinion. But doesn't this thread belongs in the MOC forum? Just a question.

I must admit you've done a nice job with the cleaning process, some pieces are yellowed as mentioned above and the sails need some work indeed. Great job so far! You may clean my Lego too if you want...

You are a busy one. Another MOC in a short period of time, and still even nice. The tree is my favorite part and you've proven yourself again being an expert of photo editing. Again, I see the red-eyed bat, in the tree. The only improvement: Swap the red jumper brick on the top of the roof to a black one.

I thought chariots were often used for battles.

Ah the Utrecht, I've seen it in a contest somewhere before but can't remember what it was. "Build whatever you like" I believe. Anyway, this ship is great. The rigging is (as always) very nicely done. The whole ship is very detailed, especially the stern is nice. You have added the swords at the hull which is very realistic for a Dutch ship. I was planning to build this ship too, but you're faster. Great job!

I agree with the above about your superior photo editing skills! The hay wagon has a nice story behind it and I like the haywagon itself too. There are some nice things on this creation which makes this very spooky, the scytche and the skull... Another nice creation from a nice Lego builder!

This is very nicely done! So many ornaments and details on the temple. Awesome. I like the two roman soldiers too. It just like so they are discussing about the horse dung between them. The chariot is great as well. Some chariots had sharp knifes pointing out of the wheels to cut the infantry men's legs off. :skull: It would be even cooler if you put knifes on the wheels.
