LEGO LotR - general discussion
Daenerys Targaryen replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'd rather see a fully brick-built Smaug myself. I mean, his IS one of the greatest dragons of Middle Earth, hence why Gandalf sets in motion the entire Quest for Erebor... -
I'd still like to see one, simply for completions sake since we've had almost every other basic EMS service covered already. Paramedic & Firefighter are the biggies that are still missing in the CMF's series.

Well, you could always just call your Lion Knights Tyrion & Bronn?! Or else think of them as House Reynes, despite how the song ends. While I prefer the last batch of Dragon Knights, these new one are still pretty solid, and I could be tempted to build a small army of them - led by Prince Rhaegar of corse!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Daenerys Targaryen replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
New Mordor Orc prints/addition of the Morranon Orc + Mordor Uruk-hai would be nice, simply because Lego will almost certainly not be giving us the likes of the Easterlings who saw almost no screen time, nor the Haradrim + other Southrons. (heck, you need to hit the 'pause' button to even really see the Easterlings who snuck into RofK!) Besides, Orcs and their various splinter types are the main evil servents, so for army builders especially, it's better to just focus on the one sub-set and give us more variation in minifig printings. Considering you only get a limited number of minifigs per set, it's hard enough to build a large Ork or Army of the White Hand as it is! For anyone wanting the more fringe armies or human-based evil forces, there's other producers who have done sets for things like the Easterlings, Black Numenoreans, Southrons (including the Corsairs of Umbar), Dol Amroth, the Grey Company, etc...- 7,499 replies

Time for Lego to do a brand new Morranon Orc minifig perhaps?! Though I doubt it, since it would have made sense to release it in the Black Gate set.- 7,499 replies

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
Daenerys Targaryen replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Don't forget though, The Hobbit was written as a children's book, so it is more lighthearted and humorous. (heck, they even added in a part of the Goblin Town song before Gandalf shows up which was a nice little touch!) The material doesn't really start to get more grimdark until the mid point of The Fellowship. -
I'm from Burlington myself, and we had way more snow than Toronto did at that time so, nope, no living down their epic fail! I mean, heck, that Thursday before the Prem shut everything down, it was -43 with the windchill, and the snowbanks on the corner of our property were so high they completely burried the STOP signs! (and we were getting roughly another 30cm that day - I've never seen that much snow before or since!) But all Burlington & Oakville schools stayed open!!!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

+1 this! In the film, the Corsairs are barely shown as the focus is placed on Aragorn+friends and the Dead of Dunharrow. Even in the books there isn't that much time given over to the Corsairs of Umbar. (I mean, Prince Imrahil and the Swan Host of Dol Amroth get more page time in the books and PJ left them right out of the films!) Besides, it's the Pete Jackson cameo minifig!!! ...and as an aside, Dany won't be getting back home until book 7.- 7,499 replies

I collected Yu-gi-oh back in the day when it was still mainly egyptian themed and built a Gravekeeper deck which I've hung onto along with a bunch of the rare cards. My favourite card is still my Mystical Knight of Jackal!

Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
Daenerys Targaryen replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
All the Chapters/Indigo stores here in Burlington, Ontario have just gotten their second and likely final wave of boxes in-store over the past week or so. I can't believe how quickly the supply is dwindling here! Only took for example 2 weeks for the local Coles store to sell through their first 60, and they're down to 33 left from their second shipment. Burlington is a hotbed it seems for CMF's! My mum & I have now finished our combined collections. Between us we've got; 1x Chickensuit Guy 1x Mermaid 1x Judge 2x Dr.Jekal/Mr.Hyde 2x Battlemech 2x Forest Maid 2x Fortune Teller 3x Cyclops 4x Alien Avenger 4x Policeman 7x Heroic Knight!!! (because I had to assemble King Ares' Seven Kingsguard ) -
*sigh* Still waiting to TLG to put a Firefighter into the CMF series... Looks like the end of year will be cheap for me in terms of minifigs. Only interested in the Barabarian & Tiki Warrior as of right now. But I'll likely add a couple of the others once we finally see pics of what everything looks like.

I'll definately be needing 3 Roman Officers to join my Emperor, his 8 Legionnaire minions and two matched pair of Gladiators! It's a small empire, but it's growing!- 1,076 replies

Welcome to the far frozen northern wastes then! What part of our vast & glorious land are you residing in? One bright spot about living in Toronto for example - when it snows, city council sends for the army to come in and dig you out!

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions

I'd personally like to see either Minas Morgul or Cirith Ungol myself. I just don't think you can do The White City proper justice without making it into some ungodly & unaffordable 10,000+ brick monstrosity that stands 10'+ and higher! -

I doubt Khamul will be brought in since they've already shifted the Witch King into his spot, and considering Glorfindel was left out of the LotR trilogy, I have a sinking feeling we won't be seeing the Lord of the West either. I've always loved the Easterlings due to; a) Their association with being the 'dragon armies'. b) They are the only loyal & fully willing servents to Sauron and actively worship Morgoth instead of the Valar. And it could be argued that Gandalf is the most important character, since he orcistrates Thorin's entire quest to begin with in order to prevent Sauron & Smaug from becoming BFF's. (and because Erebor would become a vital lynchpin in the Free People's defense once Sauron launches his War of the Ring) -

I think LTG adding both sides to the sets is simply for Little Timmy's benifit. I can recall as a kid when I got the massive Black Knights Castle set for Xmas in the early 90's, it was great fun to build, but the only reason I enjoyed actually playing with it was because I already had some Wolf Pack bad guys from earlier sets. On the other hand, when I got my first castle set a few years earlier, the playability wasn't there because I only had one type of minifig. Playing endless civil wars or having daily jousting tournaments with the grunts cheering the same 4 knights on got boring after a bit...

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions

I haven't splurged on any of the LotR stuff except for a pair of the Uruk-hai polybags, simply because I've got waaaaaaay too many of the GW models from their LotR lines! However, after seeing the upcoming Black Gate set, I just might have to break down and get that one, as it'll make a fantastic backdrop for my Easterling display, and honestly, who can resist The Mouth of Sauron minifig in that set?! -

There's no Glorfindel Lord of the West sadly. And worst of all, no Khamul the Easterling who was the Nazgul lieutenent of Dol Guldur, since the Witch King himself is currently still imprisoned in his magical tome up in Angmar. PJ gives 0 respect to the Easterlings. Not movie-ruining obviously, but those two are a pair of my long time favourite LotR characters, so it's more of a huge pet peeve that only a portion of other book readers know just how epic these characters really are. -
I would make my own 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series sets and of corse, the mandetory army build of minifigs! I'd love to see a large minifig army of Lannisters modeled after the look HBO has given them and re-create the Battle of the Blackwater, plus a large force of Unsullied with Dany and her dragons, plus Jorah, Arstan Whitebeard & Strong Belwas. Oh and I'd make an army of Easterling minifigs including the mounted Kataphraks and other specialists all of whom would be led by Khamul.

Just curious considering how similar the two hobbies are if there's any fellow Warhammer/40k/LotR collectors/players here?! Being a die-hard Lego kid is pretty much what led me into the Games Workshop hobby as it simply took my love of building and customising models/figures to a whole new level. So if there are others here, what are you working on currently? I'm eagerly anticipating with baited breath the forthcoming rumored Daemons dual-release myself. New toys to build/play with plus hopefully a decent overhaul of the rules to make playing the army a little more varied and make mono-god lists viable.

Last movie I went to see in theaters was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I loved it! It was also great to see the appendicies with the Dol Guldur ark added in since it's so vital to the overall story itself. It's simply too bad PJ made the unforgivable mistake of leaving out two of the most important characters. Last movie I watched on dvd was the regular release of Final Fantasy IIV Advent Children. Now I can hopefully pick-out all the extended/re-done scenes in the blue-ray Complete Edition! -
My fav set of 2012 was the Endor & Imperial Troopers battle pack. I love me my Stormies & Scouts! The added Rebel scum is great for 'target practice' too.;)
