  1. Interesting... I haven't seen it before, so my ship is NOT inspired by that one... :-P To be honest, I don't like the skellie sails - they don't work at all. It would look much better with normal sails IMO. As usual, I've created a Gravedigger page at MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/33792
  2. Doesn't this suggest that Governor Broadside is not a part of CC's crew? He is in the set... Strange...
  3. I wasn't sure where to post this, I chose MOC section, but if you feel it doesn't fit here, please move it. It's time I showed you my armies. Please note that I chose to collect more smaller armies rather than one or two huge ones. So they may not be that impressive in size when looking at just one of them. Right now I have 6 separate armies: British, French, Spanish, Dutch and 2 pirate factions. In addition to this, there are some extra minifigs, like the merchant vessel's crew for example. Actually, I've already shown you the French army (which is the latest one I made) here. Now it's time for the British, and in the future I'll try to show you the rest of the factions. I consider both the bluecoats and the redcoats British, the latter being ground troops, which are still waiting for me to build a base for them. *sweet* The Bluecoats are the navy. Now, here's the key to the picture above: in the back rows are the lowest ranking soldiers, the closer to the first row, the higher the ranks. The bluecoats standing in the same row as the corresponding redcoats are of equal rank. For example, the bluecoats with no eppaulettes are of equal rank to the redcoats with shakos and backpacks. The ranks are not the same, they're just equal (remember that, in real life, the ranks in the navy have different names from the ranks in the infantry and so on). This rule doesn't apply to the front row, where you can see the highest ranking officers. In the first row of the bluecoats, the rank increases from left to right. The same goes for the redcoats. In case of the bluecoats, they are: Commander, two Captains (equal), Vice Admiral and Admiral. The redcoats: Lieutenant-Colonel, two Colonels, Lieutenant-General and General. I used today's ranking system, not sure how it looked like in the past. However, the actual rank names aren't that relevant to me, the important thing is who's above who. This Wikipedia page was very helpful to me. Here is the folder with more pictures. If you think there's something wrong with the ranks, for example the rows should be swapped somewhere, please let me know, this is just a prototype :)
  4. All of my muskets are in old brown... I'd have to search more carefully to see how many new muskets I have, but so far, after getting a short glimpse at my Lego, I found only 1, the rest of them are the old ones. Here's a picture of the old one and the new one that I took this morning.
  5. Some time ago I bought a few old-style minifigs. While experimenting with them, I suddenly remembered this thread. So now, over 1,5 years after we started discussing the Lego mermaid issue, I finally have some custom mermaids for you! *sweet* :) :-P I think it's an interesting alternative to that specialised mermaid-tail brick. The left mermaid has a custom torso I found and downloaded from Brickshelf once. Unfortunately I can't find it now, so I can't tell you who the author is, but I'll try to find it again when I have some more time.
  6. The gallery has moved to Brickshelf. I've edited the first post as well. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
  7. That's pretty interesting, as the sterncastle is my favourite part of the ship! *sweet* I wanted it to look sinister and a bit like an actual castle tower or something like that. Thanks for the comments everyone. I guess I'll be moving the gallery to Brickshelf soon, where the rest of my creations still is, all things considered :) I'd be very happy if I actually inspired you to do that :)
  8. An interesting find... I had no idea an official Pirate Lego website ever existed... :-$ Too bad there's not much there, but it still brings back good memories...
  9. Don't worry, I'm ready to upload the pictures somewhere else if necessary :)
  10. 34a This is how an old sailor once warned another sailors about this vessel: "If you head south, you might encounter the Gravedigger. She's the most peculiar and the scariest vessel that I've ever seen. It's decorated with corpses - both human and animal. The crew of this ship is also the most sinister crew I've ever seen. No one knows the real name of their captain, although those who have seen him call him The Black Bull. No one knows their origin or nationality. You might be wondering if they are pirates? Well, I guess that's as good a name as any. But they must be the strangest pirates anyone has ever heard of. When they see other ship, they attack her, they kill whoever they can, and then they leave. They have no interest in booty. They seem to be getting some kind of perverse pleasure from killing. Oh, they do take prisoners sometimes, but the rumour is that they keep them in their brig only to practice different ways of torturing and killing. That's probably why the ship is equipped with all sorts of mle weapons, which can be seen almost everywhere on board. Believe me, you wouldn't want to cross paths with them... There are very few people who actually saw the Gravedigger and lived to tell about it... All pictures.
  11. I just want to say that I've been using MOCpages for some time and never noticed the "feedback problem" that some of you have mentioned... Perhaps I was just lucky... It's been my tradition for some time to upload my pictures to Brickshelf and then publish them on MOCpages as well. I think I'll stay with MOCpages now, plus I'll switch from Brickshelf to maj.com - until a better solution becomes available (if it does).
  12. Hi. I just wanted to say that I didn't have time to take part in brickshelf-shutdown related threads until now. I'm shocked by what has happened. I'm also glad that BS is temporarily available again - I didn't have backups of some of my galleries, but now fortunately everything is on my hard drive. I hope everyone else downloads their pictures in time. I'm sure we'll all find a new place to share all our works.
  13. I'm not continuing this MOC right now. Maybe the next update will be in a year, just like the last time ;-) Noob Saibot is already there! I tried to make the robots but the results didn't satisfy me. Another time perhaps...
  14. The Fatalities subfolder is now updated as well, enjoy!
  15. Actually, Goro was made with the first minifigs, a year ago:
  16. I'm happy to announce that, almost exactly a year after its premiere, the Mortal Kombat theme has been updated! I've made four new regular characters (Sub-Zero, Jax, Baraka, Jade), two bosses (Motaro, Shao Kahn), one kombat zone (The Subway), and added a few fight scenes showing all this new stuff. The "Fatalities" subfolder is the last one to be updated, which will happen in a day or so. Meanwhile, the kombat kontinues! (the Brickshelf folder is still HERE)
  17. Nope, he's from my country - Poland. Actually I considered buying the same set from the same source as he did, but I'm not as big castle fan and I'll probably wait till it gets a bit cheaper :P
  18. Well, I guess that's to be expected, considering it has "wings" and other strange stuff that makes it look different from an "average" 2CV. :)
  19. This MOC is my version of the car seen in the movie "Revenge Of The Pink Panther". The Silver Hornet was actually a modified Citroen 2CV, with some fancy looking features added. It wasn't easy to build, as it appeared only for two brief moments in the movie, during which it fell apart almost instantly. Here's the Brickshelf folder, which includes the picture of the real thing from the movie, taken from the Internet Movie Cars Database. I tried to keep that "it's just about to break down" look of the original. If you haven't seen the movie, you might want to watch this to see how the Silver Hornet "works".Also, please visit Silver Hornet's MOCpages page.
  20. My favourite "evolved" MOC is the HMS Progress, I even left pictures of the previous versions in the brickshelf gallery. First version (sorry, I didn't have a good camera back then): Later version: Final version:
  21. I'm thinking about building my first car MOC in a few years (and a first one intended to be published). It'll be based on a car from a movie, but I don't wanna put any spoilers here as I haven't even really started :) I'm also building two Pirate-themed ships, one of which is almost finished.
  22. Too bad I haven't seen this post earlier :) This is in Polish and it means "various creations for Olafek to play" (Olafek, or Olaf, is a name, and there's a text file in this guy's folder where he explains it's his son's name).
  23. That's a true classic. Great torso, although I prefer it with yellow arms instead of white (= no sleeves) - it wasn't released that way but I customised all of my wench torsos to be like that. Yes, it was the first female face in the history of Lego, and yes, in 1989 when Pirates appeared, Castle minifigs still had normal smileys, and yes, the first other-than-standard-smiley faces that appeared in the Castle line were in fact the same as the Pirate faces. About the short/long hair issue - this head looks pretty good with long black hair on it, so it doesn't necessarily have to be short.
  24. Of course, what's more, it wouldn't make any sense to make a clone of MOCpages limited to Pirate MOCs, I just meant it would be similar because everyone would have his individual site with his own address, which would concentrate on his MOCs. A very cool address I might add :)
  25. That would be so great! Something like MOCpages but for Pirate builders only.
