That would be it, weird I didn't notice it...well, this maybe points out it was a good thing to make some improvements to the story text. GOOD MOC, LuxorV !!!
-
PFFFF...You're a w**p ...IMO a real pirate always kills when possible , even if he had to make a detour to do so....
-
IMHO it is quite clear the cruelty of this MOC is ENOUGH to compete with the PTV contest. You know, Pillage The Village...? I think it was Bonaparte who demanded plundering, murdering and raping, but if we were to follow that sick minded person (who has sometimes great idea's though ) in every occasion, we would all end up being butt-naked while burning down the Megablock HQ, shouting: "THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE BRICK: THE LEGO BRICK"...
-
My opinion: Yes, I like this MOC too, I think he has chosen the right colors and bricks and the subject is cruel and realistic. Possible improvements: 1) I would make the Captain (or pirate) and the Innkeeper look like they have some kind of conversation, and maybe the Innkeeper could be struggling to get loose. 2) Who is the armed guy downstairs? Is he one of the pirates? A villager? Did he use that rope to get down there or is he going to rescue the Innkeeper? Please tell something about him, or even better: make it obvious who he is or what he is doing in the MOC. 3) To get more color in the scene: adding a lamp to the roof could do the trick. If you think you like that, at least. Non-brick related advise: 1) You made quite some typos and/or spelling mistakes I'm afraid. eg. "To save his lafe..." should be "To save his life..." eg.2 treasure 2) You might want to leave some more space between some of your sentences, to give it a better and less cluthered look. Keep this up, please build more MOCs like this whether it is for the PTV contest or not. This one is great!

My opinion: Very nice MOC, RichardAM. I like the subject you chose for this MOC and Mary Ellis has the right face. The cruelty factor is present, and it looks finished, so from me. Possible improvements: 1) If it were my MOC, I would have placed the mast in an "oblique/slanting" position, I think that it would look a lot better like that. 2) The shark looks not as good as I hoped to, it's too much of a "triangle", maybe you could put in a real (lego) shark by using a diorama vision. 3) As said by that Walrus-hating Captain Zuloo, maybe you should try to complete the mast. 4) A bird on top to add some color ? I wish you much luck and building fun during this contest!

I voted yes as well, I think it would be a nice addition. And it would attrackt more attention/people to the pirates forum.
-
What has Sinner to do with this??? Did he give you your title??? And I though you be happy to be called a pirate... EDIT: NOW I see !
-
Wow, thats quite a collection... I'm not that much into HP Lego, but I am impressed by that picture... Must have costed you quie a bit too.
-
Oh, I don't think he meant it that way, he was just joking...look at his smilies...
-
YOU CALLED THE GREAT AND AWESOME PARTYBONER a C.H.E.A.T. !!! WHY DID YOU SAY AL THAT? I think it is realy insulting. And now don't quickly edit it, I already pasted it here! aka You're dead. :pir-skull: I love the way his painted black helmets look sooo real. I realy didn't notice they were painted. Now I don't know what to do, I mean they are expensive but maybe I am prepared (and crazy enough) to actually keep buying them since I like my Lego unchanged...
-
NOW you'r gonna get it I'm afraid: Mess with the best, die like the rest ! (With the best I am referring to Bonaparty.) suck up....suck up.....suck up.... THANKS FOR SHARING THAT BONAPARTE, and don't worry, I know how and have the tools... I have a 500+ man strong Old Glory army (still expanding!)Old Glory miniatures
-
Because he maybe made that film?? or a wrong choice/use of words, and he means he has a film where we can see Captain Nobeard.
-
Oh, that looks so very good, the pep talk froml Leia, the snowy backgrounds, the crashed snow cruiser... You have really deserved that prize.
-
Very good. And for being a first "vignette" ever, it shows you have some talent. from me!
-
oww....painting them yourself...cheater ! No, I like the idea...but first I'll try if I can get enough of them the classic way, it is a WIP so... I can paint them myself if I wanted to, I have an Old Glory Nap.army too so I have the materials. HEY, I AM REPORTING THIS TO THE STAFF !
-
I will post one of them if they are all fully equipped (I have too few epaulettes, backpacks, horses, muskets,...could take some time I'm afraid), but I am posting more pics later this day or week. Next ones: -artillery (french, with imperial uniforms and shakos) -landwehr Typos...and I only check my spelling if I comment to the PTV contest mostly I am too lazy... i nevr cmment to peopl speling used fore normallposting on the foum. Unless it gets out of hand like in my previous sentence. Also English is not my primary language, I learned it from TV (Simpsons, South Park,...)
-
CURRENTLY I have: about 100 imperial soldiers (incl. artillery) around 50-60 guards (English soldiers) well above 150 others (auxialliaries, germans, austrian,...) Most have the pirate captain torsos or the "navy"style pirate one smaller numbers of cavalry like these 15 officers (governors/admirals torsos) Actually I am buying like crazy now, I just bougt 25 horses, 4 extra red cannon and loads of weapons (and 4 imperials) on bricklink. Now I will wait till next month to buy the next load of Imperials (I want at least the double of that number by the end of next year) Waiting for the new line has few use since i need bluecoats, their shakos will be usefull though (although I have enough for now) More pics will follow.
-
I have loads of imperials representing infantry and I have artillery units as well, but I haven't posted any pic of them yet. I just wanted to show my heavy cavalry units. BTW These silver armors and silver and golden helmets are expensive as gold, there are only a few sellers who have these and they cost 5 USD per piece +S&H that is, since most sellers only have one... Bonaparte probably bought most of the silver helmets anyway . The rest will follow later, this day or tomorrow I will post the next pic (in my first post) representing a Landwehr unit (about 20-30 soldiers)

Last month I started sorting my Lego out. Discovering all my old imperials, and being a fan of the theme, I wanted to build a Napoleonic army.(especcialy after I saw Bonapartes). PICTURE 1: The heavy cavalry. My beta version of my cuirassiers regiment, I still need some more though, and I have to equilise some details, like the plumes, horses,... On the far right: Me inspecting the troops. PICTURE 2: Landwehr (voluntary semi-civilian units, often commanded by local authorities or noblemen). Some landwehr units, depending on wich battle it is, they can be used as German, Prussian or Austrian Landwehr soldiers. They usualy didn't have shakos, so the top hats are in one way or another historicaly correct. They also often had different weapons and rarely formed real firing lines. I am still expanding this unit. I want at least 50 of these, but I still need some pirate captains as well for now...They are quit cheap, top hats cost nearly nothing and even the pirate captains torso is relatively cheap. Brown epaulettes (soldiers) and yellow ones (NCO) are the cheapest epaulettes as well... PICTURE 3: English Dragoons. I don't have enough plumes for all of them yet. And I saved my colored horses for my Auxialliary Cavalry units (Brunswick,...) PICTURE 4: English Brigadier-General with his ADC's (Aide De Camp = field assistants/adjudants, mostly junior officers that offer advise and carry direct orders to the unit commanders) PICTURE 5: English infantry! The 2nd Regiment of the British Guards Infantry: The famous Coldstream Guards ! Heavily armed veteran unit: played significant roles in many Napoleonic battles. 1 Battalion featured 900-1000men, more then the usual 600 of the standard Line Infantry battalion. The two soldiers with white epaulettes on the right are paymasters. The red officer on the front is a brigadier-general and the one on the right is a captain of the staff. And some basical line-infantry: The officer on the right doesn't really fit in since he represents a mayor or higher... I need more blue epaulettes first before I can expand this unit, the other ones I own are used for another Line regiment...and I don't want to "double-use" my soldiers in multiple pictures. PICTURE 6: A little "showcase" on my desk... You can see the British units I presented above, flanked by an Australian trumpet (1842), a REAL Napoleonic Bajonet (Swiss, 1802), one of my (modern...sadly) pistols: AW93, my uniform books and another Napoleonic book I bought for one Euro from the Library. The small shako is the one officers of the Belgium RMS (Royal Military School) of Brussels receive when they graduate as a 2nd Lieutenant. Thought this style might look good, if you agree I might use this for more of my future pics (each time with different stuff, obviously). PICTURE 7: My entire English army My army as it is, although heavy reinforcements are coming in, my French army is larger btw. And the English received a fresh new guards company. PICTURE 8: My French Line Infantry Regiment. The soldiers on the right, wearing yellow epaulettes have gotten these because I currently have a shortage on red ones. I used the last ones for my French foot battery. On the utter right you can see a piece of the regimental artillery (the French Infantry units only had cannons during some years of the war, mainly captured Austrian cannons). NEXT TIME: French Artillery + more British units?? Naval forces?? I don't know yet.... MY NEXT PURCHASES: bluecoats, epaulettes (red, blue and brown, maybe white), silver armor and helmets, pirate captain torsos. Possibly more shakos, backpacks and/or horses as well.

My opinion: Looks like an average to good MOC, but there are some little things I don't like as much... Still, good enough, especcialy after you made some improvements. The blood that splathers around the soldier that gets hit is sooo cool , and so is the little room with the governors daughter. Possible improvements: 1) The minifig out there may not be allowed, and it doesn't look that realisitic either. 2) What is that purple thing near the soldier? I can't see it that well and the color doesn't seem to fit in. Non-brick related advise: 1) Watch for spelling mistakes: eg.: ...threw the side of the fort... Better would be: through the side... Overall, I think this is a very good MOC, so keep up the good work!

Happy happy happy birthday to you all! Have a Lego-time !

The imperials respond to the pirate attack...
Zorro replied to Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?!'s topic in Pirate MOCs
Actually, they can be larger...where did you get these numbers? From Da rules: You may present up to 6 pictures per entry. In accordance with Eurobricks guidelines the maximum picture size is 800x600 pixels . Entries with bigger pictures will not be accepted. -
CONTEST-LARGE! Jungle Cage! Dis is da place ye don't want
Zorro replied to Lego12's topic in Pirate MOCs
My opinion: This creation is a lot better then your first version. You have made serious progress, I think we all can come to that conclusion. I am very glad you removed the plane (enough about that now, a mistake is a mistake and it has been corrected quite fast so no point in reminding the poor fella') Possible improvements: 1) You used "basic" baseplates, maybe you could "brick" it a bit, to add (eg.) shores, sand and shallow water. 2) There are still some disturbing (out of time) elements to be found, like the large clock lying around. 3) The fires/blood coming out of the sceleton horse, I don't really think it is that realistical. A sceleton doesn't bleed or burn anymore since it has no more flesh. 4) Some of your minifigs aren't moving as good as they could: add beter movement to them and see to it that their faces are the best ones you have (some are OK, but IMHO not all of them). Also, I would give some of the bald guys a hat or hair, too many baldies make it look unfinished, use bald heads wisely and to your advantage. (MINOR) There is, on some places like where the horses stand, too many clutter, see what you do the next time you work on it, there also shouldn't be like 20 totaly different colors in 10x10 dots... I await to comment to this untill you made the improvements you say you are working on. (MINOR) So many different kinds of trees can't all grow in one place . (MINOR) There are some brown rocks, maybe these would look better if they were gray. Now they look like piles of sand. Non-brick related advise: 1) I found some minor spelling mistakes, try to correct them using a dictionnary or an online translation tool. eg. "THERE IS LOTS OF" IMHO Better would be there are loads of/ there are a lot of... 2) I would try to add some kind of a short story, just for fun and to increase chanches of winning. But I like the improvements you made to this MOC. I await the next update with great hope! Don't worry if my list seems a bit long, that is mainly because your MOC is so huge. I am certain you WILL get there . -
Technic Mindstorms bike
Zorro replied to Skipper 24's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the post (and find), Skipper 24, I am amazed he build this. BTW: This statement comes directly from someone that commented on the Gizmodo webpage: Boy, that made me laugh! -
I like how you did this, I will keep this in mind...(No, I won't copy it for my entries don't worry) Why so much violence all the time Mr. Tiber...what did that poor soldier do to you... CONCENTRATE: You are in a land where there is no school...you are the only man here...billions of women... Think of you sitting in a pink beach chair on a peaceful little island with pink bunnies hopping around you and a little cute (pink) chiuaua on your lap... Monokini Fatima Moreira de Mélo, Katja and Birgit Schuurman, Froukje de Both,...all around you, hanging over you presenting grapes to your mouth ... (NO, you are not presenting your "grapes" to their mouth, you are relaxing......peace....silentness...) Listen to the birds, the wind and the water...sniff the relaxing odor of (pink) flowers, the trees..nature... Be one with the elements that suround you... Now tell me Mr.Tiber.......do you still want to kill that poor soldier that has seven kids, a wive and three little pink kittens?
