Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
BlueberryWaffles replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Assuming you're talking about the Joker in general and not a specific iteration, how is he not popular with kids? Batman is still one of the biggest superheroes around, heck, he's probably one of the most popular fictional characters. Joker is almost just as iconic, being placed as Batman's primary antagonist in everything from cartoons to movies to games to Fisher-Price toys. Unless things have dramatically changed since I was in elementary/middle school, Joker is still very popular with kids. -

I really like the new R2-D2, very tempting purchase now. Has there been any word on price? The last one was $180, so I'm assuming $200 for this one? -

I like the Punisher and Cap minifigs. Will probably replace Punisher's head because I'm not a huge fan of the bandage, but it shouldn't be too hard to find an alternate. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of the Bugle set. Isn't it supposed to come out in May? That's only a few weeks away, I would assume there's an official reveal coming soon. -

Yeah, I ordered the AT-ST with the red leg about two hours after the announcement just in case. I have a feeling her minifigure and possibly that whole set is going to become a lot harder to find. -

I was reading the X-Wing review on Brickset today and I was surprised at how little of a size difference there is between the 2021 and 2018 models, especially considering the difference in the TIE models. Now I'm really convinced. Are the May 4th GWPs usually only given away with the D2C or is it any Star Wars sets over the amount? Right now I'm figuring that I'll order the X-Wing and TIE together that weekend to get whatever the GWP is. -
LEGO Dimensions on next-gen consoles?
BlueberryWaffles replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I assume that they would, given that they both seem to run almost every game released on the previous system. I played on Wii U back in the day, but I've always had an extra PS4 version sitting around from when I got it for the Supergirl polybag. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a PS5 available for purchase, but as soon as I can find one I'll test it out and see what happens. Maybe the game will even run a little better on the new hardware. -

Literally just ordered the 20th anniversary Slave I today (couldn't believe it was back up on S@H) so this new smaller version is an easy pass for me. Most tempted by the Maul vs Ahsoka and Mandalorian ship sets out of the new wave. Gunship and AT-AT are way out of my budget but I might have to jump on the new R2-D2, I've always regretted not getting the first one. -

Is the 20th Slave 1 completely gone? I'm trying to find it and haven't had luck anywhere, even my local Lego store. Kicking myself for not grabbing it a few months ago, because wasn't the last non-UCS one back in 2010? I hope it wouldn't be that long of a wait again. Speaking of retiring SW sets, is it usually around a year? Two years? Debating how soon I should pick up sets like Obi-Wan's hut. -

For those who have been collecting for a long time, how likely are you to buy remakes of a set you already own? After building most of my collection around DC/Marvel for years, I'm starting to drift toward Star Wars. Don't know if I should just wait for some sets to get remade or jump on the aftermarket prices for sets that retired a few years ago. Thankfully, next year looks like a good place to "start" with the new X-wing and TIE fighter. -

Forgive me if this has been discussed in the thread earlier. Does anyone else find it odd that Beskar Mando uses pearl grey for his helmet and armor instead of the gunmetal grey he had before? Hasn't he always had the same helmet in the show? I was surprised when I saw that minifigure because I assumed that he would be mostly a dark silver like on the show. I did see an action figure of Mando in the Beskar armor a few days ago and he also had lighter colored armor, so maybe it was a concept art thing? On the Brickheadz thing, I'm interested to see who they'll pick. The Star Wars Brickheadz usually seem to be tied in to the latest releases in the franchise (Mando and Child 2-pack, RoS 2-pack, etc.) so maybe now they'll pick a character that wouldn't get a spotlight otherwise. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the OT ones from 2018, the aftermarket prices on those are insane now! -
Just saw the leaked images. Looks fantastic, this is a definite buy for me. The colors of the sirens and equipment rack on the roof really pop out nice against the black 18+ background. The only thing I would change would be extra parts to modify it into the Ecto-1A, but I know that version of the vehicle usually gets overlooked so I am not surprised.

DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Not sure how I feel about this one. It looks nice, and I really dig the new Joker outfit, but the 89 Batwing in general just doesn't scream "iconic display piece" like the 89 Batmobile does. Being able to mount it on a wall if definitely a cool feature though. At $200, it's far from the most expensive D2C but in a year that has so many great options competing for my attention and wallet (Diagon Alley, Mos Eisley, the NES, etc.) this just doesn't stand out to me. I'm still surprised that they made this set to be honest. The 89 Batmobile must have really sold through the roof for such a quick turnaround on another Burton inspired D2C that people probably won't buy unless they've already bought the Batmobile. I can't really imagine someone loving the Batwing so much that they just buy it alone and not the Batmobile to go alongside it. Who knows, at this rate we might actually see the Batskiboat from Batman Returns. With Lego's new focus on "adult" branded sets, I'm a little surprised we haven't seen anything branded specifically on the Arkham games. Next year is Arkham City's 10th anniversary. Maybe we'll see something then. -

To be honest, I would rather have a UCS model of Penguin's rubber ducky car. I would buy anything directly based on Returns though, that was the first superhero movie I remember watching and I still love it to this day. I'm not sure if the Batwing would be a buy for me. I love the 1989 Batmobile, but the Batwing just isn't nearly as iconic or has a big enough role in the film to justify a $250-300 purchase out of me. Especially when there are so many other amazing D2Cs recently like the NES or Diagon Alley. To be honest, I'm surprised they're doing another Burton vehicle so soon after the first one. I would have assumed that next in line would be another UCS Batmobile, like the classic '66 car or maybe the one from B:TAS. -

Really hoping these sets weren't cancelled. I just ordered the last two sets I needed to complete the theme so far, and there's so many characters that still aren't represented. -

I think a possible Marvel CMF series would be comics based. Since most of the iconic MCU characters have already gotten minifigures, whoever is left to fill up a MCU based series might not have the broad appeal that a CMF series needs. -

Didn't notice that the TV brand is "LO-TECH" until the HD pictures came out, that's a great touch. This is very tempting for me, much more up my alley than the electronic Mario sets. $230 is a lot to swallow, sure, but I have a feeling this will be a big success. Hopefully this is a sign that the Nintendo partnership is going to be a long-lasting one. -

I wonder if the Snyder Cut news/release will drive up aftermarket prices on those three sets. -

Really liking these new sets. - Non-MCU inspired Hulkbuster with the flat head is great, along with a more "classic" Rescue. - Avengers Tower looks like a huge upgrade from the underwhelming 2015 version based on Age of Ultron. The minifigure selection is alright. - Loving the Iron Man helmet, and the fact that the Helmets line seems to be expanding beyond just Star Wars. Interesting that the box uses the "IRON MAN" logo from the 2008 film, yet the display plaque uses a different Avengers logo. -

I would imagine a D2C would buck the trend of electronic toy/game and do something more traditional. Bowser's Castle sized for minifigs would be the first thing I can imagine, though an airship would be great as well. -

Pokemon usually has its merchandise licensing handled separately from the rest of Nintendo's IPs though. I know that was a reason that the World of Nintendo toy line from Jakks Pacific a few years ago couldn't use anything from Pokemon. It's more hoops to jump through because of the Pokemon Company. Speaking of, that toy line actually gives a pretty good benchmark of what Nintendo has full control of for merchandise, and therefore what could show up in Lego form. The franchises featured there included Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Pikmin, and Metroid. Notable absences were Pokemon and Kirby. Fire Emblem wasn't included either but that might have just been a choice on which figures to make. -
This is disappointing news for me, as I was looking forward to seeing what else would come of the current franchise. I assume this means the Billion Brick Race and Batman sequel are all canned?

So my thoughts on the finale... Excited for season two!
-
I'm finally caught up and very excited for the finale tomorrow. Still sad that (and they would have been so good in the Star Wars challenge!) but the three remaining teams should put up a good battle for the finale. I am especially impressed with the progress that Sam and Jessica have made over the course of the season. I remember thinking in the first week that they would be the first team to go home. They've really stepped up their game and their Crait model was my personal favorite of the Star Wars scenes. Will Arnett has been an amazing host for the show. I love all of his meta quips and jabs at typical reality shows, as well as his interactions with all the teams while the build process is going on. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of some of the guests that have come on the show. Obviously for me, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were the shining examples because they have a strong connection to Lego and that worked perfectly in with the "movie genre" challenge. The others, such as Terry Crews and the woman from the Storybook episode (blanking on her name at the moment) are fun but ultimately just feel thrown in to bring in viewers. It's understandable, but sometimes I wish it was just Will and the Brickmasters. Overall, I've had a great time watching this show and it's brought Lego back into my mind more than it often is recently, which is probably the point. I can't wait for the finale and I hope a second season comes along just as exciting as this one! Huge thanks @KotZ for filling in a lot of my behind-the-scenes questions.

The figure in the video looks strange, but I am still very excited. Especially if this leads to other Nintendo properties as themes.
