  1. This looks like a much better set than I had originally thought.
  2. Sheepo's transmissions are also about 1/2 the size of one of Paul's cars too. Can I put my socks back on now?
  3. Everything stated here is complete nonsense on about 10 different levels.
  4. 9 years ago already? It doesn't really seem that long ago that he was posting pictures as he was constructing it. I remember Mish Van Beek built a really nice Viper model as well.
  5. I remember reading on another forum where a poster critiqued another builder's all wheel drive model and claimed as a purist that they were "shocked a little" that it used 2 different types of differential boxes. And yet 2 years later, TLC is doing the same thing.
  6. I posted the Link because there already was an EPIC review for this set that perhaps the TC didn't know existed. There isn't any sort of review here in this thread what so ever, only pictures of the set being constructed. I think the thread title is very misleading.
  7. Blakbird actually had a very extensive review on the 8070 set a few months ago. HERE
  8. I believe the reason why it appears to be so complex is probably because it needs to be in order to have the axle from the center differential pass between the clutch gears where the driving rings are at. I wasn't exactly sure either what he was trying to do and why there were so many clutch gears underneath until I seen THIS picture. This is actually pretty slick and I don't recall ever seeing something like this before with not having the driving ring clutch gears actually directly working off of each other. There isn't a good picture of the top gears to see how that part of this transmission is setup or what the ratios are.
  9. Is this some sort of joke? The poster bumped a 7 day old thread about one of the most anticipated soon to be released sets in Lego technic history and you come at him with this threat? Bumping certain threads like this one are excellent ways to keep new threads for upcoming releases from popping up, thus having to delete or combine them. I could see there being an issue if someone was bumping up one of their own threads about a model that they built from a month ago, but this is certainly a different matter altogether. I am glad that this poster bumped this up, because there were quite a few new points brought up about the new set that i was unaware of since last time I logged in.
  10. Actually it does have a function, otherwise he wouldn't have it there. It is balancing out the torque being applied to the small bevel gears on each side.
  11. Here was what he said and he had a few good points. Judging by the small black panels in the front, this is a medium sized model. Maybe 15 studs wide. The wheels are definitely not the ones off of the 8297, they are much smaller. I do see some new black panels on it... I really hope that it has some 19L black flex axles... But that is just wishful thinking... One thing that I would like to point out is that it is using the smooth toggle joints for the top corners of the windshield in gray... This is quite odd because these do come in black(In fact I have about 20 of them, but they are very hard to come by) I am almost certain that when the official pictures come out, that these will be using the black ones, which is great because that is a very rare piece... It also says "Limited Edition" on the side of the box... Whatever that is supposed to mean.. -Paul I have to admit, I hadn't even noticed the light grey connectors at the top of the windshield until this. I think Paul is right, they will probably replace them with black. Didn't the 8041 race truck also say limited edition on it? Normally when a manufacturer places limited edition on a product, that means that it is limited to a certain number that are produced. The 8041 race truck is still available at Lego Shop At Home. I just think they do this to help sell sets that they feel may are somewhat weak.
  12. The New Unimog Tires have a completely different tread pattern.
  13. You may want to contact Paul himself. I was short two of those #4 yellow connectors and asked him if he had any to spare and he sent them to me. Now I don't know how many he actually has, so he might not be able to help you, but it is worth a chance.
  14. I think it was Crowkillers that came up with that solution last year. Also, I have built the Hot Rod, and while it is a decent B-model, it is kind of flimsy. Also in the rear end they used a #1 connector with a black pin to connect the flex axle, but there are actually 2 #6 connectors left over that could have been used instead that look much better. Very strange.
  15. While I admit there are a few things that I don't like about the 8070, Overall it is a fabulous model and was a very fun build and once again opened my eyes to building techniques that I had never seen before. However, the fan model that you are claiming you like better, is a wonderful interpretation, but would hardly ever be released from TLC as it does not follow many of the strict Lego guidelines that designers must follow. It also seems that Lego has gone away from the flexible tubes, which I am very happy with as I always thought that they were kind of a cheap way out of building a body for a vehicle. Like I said, that Bugatti by Sheepo is really great, but when you start packing in many motors and features, then you end up building your MOC around these features and it throws your proportions off.
  16. The 8041 Technic Race Truck I see the 8070 Supercar is up at Lego's shop at home website. Still out of stock at Toys R Us.
  17. I agree 100% that the motor should have been an option, especially if no pole reverser was going to be used. I would much rather have a crank in the rear to open/close the functions and a prettier rear end. I am sure this can be remedied easily though. I am very pleased with the model overall. Also JunkstyleGio, the part that "Got Lost" from the front spoiler appears to be this panel.
  18. Nice Blakbird! The cars look really great together! I still can't find the #4 angle connectors for my Murcielago.
  19. Does the Unimog have some type of new styled shock absorbers? they look silverish and smaller. Or is that the older styled shock from the 8880 and I see a portion of it?
  20. The Murcielago model really does look amazing Blakbird. That is probably my favorite pure technic car yet. I haven't finished mine yet because I am missing many parts. Do you know if Paul has seen yours yet?
  21. That built car in the picture with the 8070 box isn't the 8070 model. It is crowkillers version that he built last year. He recently sold that model on Ebay LINK Those wheels are just the standard wheels that come on the 8070, 8653, and 8145 LINK He sent them away to get chrome plated somewhere. He has a link at his SITE. There are various places that sell chromed parts on bricklink.
  22. Looks like someone already beat you to it. LINK $300 USD + $96 USD to ship
  23. This is the first official set that combined the use of the new square shaped box liftarm, the perpendicular connectors and the new style control arms.
