  1. Hmm, Black and lime is good, very eye catching. But overall for me the original design is still the most appealling and especially the most coherent one. Reason are the DBG propeller blades which are best integrated when the stripe on the doors is DBG too. So from a harmony and flow point of view the original color design works best for me and my taste....
  2. I can recommend blokbrick too. Great assortment and fair prices. Top quality hoses, IMHO better than TLG quality...
  3. Well, with Black as main color more or less all color schemes will work very well....
  4. In really no aspect... Never ever. But different people different opinions... ;-) And probably even more on eBay
  5. No need for sorries... it is not forbidden using rare parts in MOCs, because it is named MOC and not MOCFYCR (my own creation for your cheap rebuild ;-) nevertheless it would be of course very nice and very obliging if this is taken into account by the designer.... what do you think: could using a white 19L flex axle for the lower part of the windshield work? white ones are quite cheap...
  6. because i assume that 3. and 4. gear have other gear ratios than second the following question comes in my mind: where do you think the theoretical higher speed is lost? too much friction or too low torque in these gears for the L-motor so the motor is forced to be slowed down itself? BTW: great car  and i'm eagerly waiting for the BI... i bought extra for this MOC a 8450 Mission set for the needed 2 black 19L flex axles ;-) BTW: these axles are really ultra ultra rare (two days before there were exactly zero available at bricklink - worldwide - and 8450 sets for a reasonable price are also quite rare - luckily yesterday one pops up in second hand market in Germany...
  7. i agree - the original white plus some DBG and orange looks eminently... but black instead of white works very well too... but with black you might run into a serious problem: the non existence of black 19L flex axles... yesterday i looked into bricklink and there are exactly zero available - worldwide...
  8. black looks good - here the three colors chime very well together... but red and dark bluish gray IMHO clash But with black you might run into a serious problem: the non existence of black 19L flex axles... yesterday i looked into bricklink and there are exactly zero available - worldwide... but probably you own some i assume ;-)
  9. Hmm, sorry for maybe disappointing you but i'm not sold. i have build the original and that one wins in every aspect. Neither the Color schema works nor the mudguards build from connectors... But of course this is just IMHO. And Important is only that you had Fun when building it....
  10. I have tried it with 5 gears. All of them rub... IMO this ist an illegal design. Only using this Old steering part is save... Seats: they aren't closer, you are completely right. The linkage mechanism needs nearly the same width than a typical 6-gear-gearbox. But nevertheless the whole arrangement looks much cleaner as with the gearbox between the seats... Overall it is the first real and really well and reliable working transaxle solution i saw in a lego Car...
  11. You must have made some errors because my model rests Perfect evenly. My my front wheels doesn't rub on the mudguards, neither when moving straight ahead nor when steered the rear suspension isn't squishy but it is quite responsive... About the resistence in 1st and Reverse: yeah, a little bit but the Car drives well in these gears too. You have to be very carefully when building the gearbox and i spend almost overall an hour to ensure several times that all is running smoothly... Post some pics about your front suspension issues...
  12. Just finished it: I want to like to cite a comment from another thread: I would underline every word of this posting and confirm every word of this testimony, really every word, without any exception. Five additions: - In the other predator thread one asked for the stiffness of the chassis: Never seen such a rigid and sturdy studdless supercar chassis - Best paneling i ever saw on a technic car - regardless if an official or a MOC model, period. It has a real flow, exactly as Nathanael describes onto his website... - This is a build which really often puts a grin in your face - The BI are without any error and easy to follow - at least for reasonably experienced builders - This is the supercar we (well, at least i ;-) are awaiting from TLG for years... i can not imagine that TLG could top this model in any aspect without inventing complete new parts (e.g. clutch gears with different sizes) - if you make a professional box and printed (and on some places simplified and more detailled) BI then you could produce it without changes for the market, at least as an UCS set - and i'm sure it would be a big hit.
  13. First of all thank you for the great review. The model deserves it... no, this has nothing to do with rigidity of plastic... this part is used on purpose - as always - by Nathanael... the part "Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with 2 Pin Holes" (42003) would not work because then the 24th gear would no completely fit in between - the gear always scratches very slightly on both 42003 - i just tried it to play safe... take a look at the BI (i hope it is ok to post this small pic but i doubt anyone could build the car only from this pic ;-): The gear can only spin freely and safe without any contact cause of the notch below of the pin hole of part "Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with Pin Hole" (32068)... so - again as always with nathanaels models - there must exactly this part been used and it is the best solution for this purpose - and exactly THIS - in combination with the overall design quality and some innovation - makes the Predator IMHO the best supercar i know... some other cars have more features, are looking good as well (or even better) and are also designed very good... but the design and part usage of the predator is simply a perfection-level i never saw before - neither in official TLG cars no in supercar MOCs... but of course different people different opinions - it's just IMHO!
  14. do not know... but i always wonder why people asking for video for non RC/non motorized models? what can you see at a video what pictures and text can't tell you? No video can show you this nifty gearbox (incl. selector), this marvel of a front-axle and the incredible good, clean and well thought out overall and detail design and part usage... and this design-quality makes this model really oustanding... just finished the front-axle and made so the chassis almost complete (page 40 of the BI) and i already dare making this judgement above. I agree with jantjeuh: it's easily the best and cleanest designed MOC i have ever built... or with other - more famous ;-) - words (Antoine de Saint-Exupery): "Il semble que la perfection soit atteinte non quand il n'y a plus rien à ajouter, mais quand il n'y a plus rien à retrancher." - Terre des Hommes, III: L'Avion, p. 60 (1939) Or in englisch: "It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing more to add , but when there is nothing left to subtract"... always when building a model of Nathanael this prudent saying comes into my mind....
  15. at least more appealing than chromed silver rims on a white car - and on top cheapier... ;-) but black rims with radar dishes could be worth a try, i agree anyway: best is using the ferrari wheel covers ;-)
  16. Nathanael offers a quite cheap alternative on his website: http://www.nkubate.c...rcar&Itemid=566 scroll down to the end and you will see.... could be worth a try for people not owning such ferrari wheel covers - btw: a quite clever idea...
  17. I own the model, i love this b model (BTW: One of the best ever. So good i bought a Second copy of 8862) and i saw in The BI how it can be motorizing. And it was without any attraction for me... A boring mechanism adding nothing to the model. Anyway, let us end the discussion here because i think it leads to nowhere. You have your opinion i have mine and all is fine ;-)
  18. Let us agree that we completely disagree - i am fine with it
  19. Different people different opinions - it is ok. But for me Remote IS wireless, at least with lego. I own 8082 with its very Long wires and i tried using them for a "RC" Car. But as i said: completely funless: - the old wires are quite fragile - the mounting point of wire an contact plate is very weak especially when you move the wire around - running after your car when steering it is really ridiculous I really like models of that time with these motors e.g. 8480, 8479, 8868 and also the 8082 has some nifty mechanisms but "RC"ing with them: Never ever, nuts. PF has its disadvantages too but concerning RC it was not a big leap forward, it was 3 big leaps forward - IMHO. At least for the slow speeds as intended by lego. Of course it is very limited for really race RCing. There are much better Systems Out there..
  20. Hmm, i always found this Not very exiting with the 8448. but at least i can understand you why you mention this as example. But for the 8862 it is still completely useless...
  21. buy a second hand ferrari 8145 - it contains many other useful parts for supercar MOCs... or buy a 8653 which is cheapier and has similar designed wheel covers which could look good too on the predator... here in germany you can catch such a ferrari second hand for just a few bucks more than the bricklink-price of 4 wheel covers ... believe me: buying such a ferrari (or two ;-) is in general a smart move because some of the outstanding car MOCs out there uses a lot of parts of the models 8145 rsp. 8653...
  22. But: where is the Fun motorizing driving without RC?? All other functions are pneumatics IMHO motorizing with 9v System makes only sense for "static" functions or compressors... But motorizing driving/steering without RC or IR is quite useless and funless...
  23. Many thanks for your CAD file!!!! Many thanks for your CAD file!!!!
