  1. Jeaux reaches into his bag and retrieves his potion. He quickly downs the potion from the rear of the fight to restore himself to fighting condition. "Curses, that Vipunch is a troublesome creature. Perhaps we would be better off ignoring it for now. Karie, now that the cobrawler is taken care of you should probably remedy the poison flowing through your veins. Arnulf and Em hold off the Histicuffs and Anacondie for now. They can deal some significant damage so you may want to avoid getting too close. Sir Brickington, you seem to fight much better when you're blind, (2 Critical hits in a row) if you could only hit something. Keep pressing the attack" OOC: If Brickington is in the back row he will take 0 damage from a free hit by the Vipunch, thanks to his shield, and not attacking it will prevent it from healing its companions again. Party Order: Brickington Jeaux Karie Em Arnulf
  2. "I've never really understood the policies for using titles. I've always referred to people by their given names, but you have yet to give yours. Though we can talk on this later when we are less pre-occupied."
  3. Things were looking up for the group. Two of the snakes seemed to be moving much more slowly as a result of the damage inflicted on them. Jeaux said to his party members, "Keep up the attack. Em, show Vipunch what you can do. I'll put the finishing touched on Histicuffs. Lord Brickington, keep doing what your doing." Jeaux fires another arrow at the purple snake from the back row. Party Order: Brickington Jeaux Arnulf Karie Em
  4. OOC: I'm checking in the Rules thread now, but as I understood it a blinded person could still target an enemy, I found examples in Quests 2, 15, and 35. I still think Brickington should attack the Apprentice to avoid the free hit and in the (it seems unlikely) chance he might roll a shield and go into the sentinel position. If he can't attack, then I think Brickington should use a potion on Em, so Em can attack and prevent a free hit. If we can't do that, then the best we could hope for is if I roll a shield, I'll kill the Cobrawler, thus preventing him from getting a free hit. New Party Order: Brickington Jeaux Em Arnulf Karie EDIT: Added alternative strategy
  5. I thought a blinded hero could still target an enemy, they just wouldn't be able to hit that enemy. Thus if a blind knight were to target an enemy, there would be a 50% chance of nothing happening, a 33% chance of taking damage and a 17% chance of using sentinel protecting the party from damage the next round. If that is not the case then we may need to adjust our battle strategy.
  6. Jeaux winced as the harvester scraped across his body. He relayed some more commands to his fellow party members, "Everyone pull back", Jeaux exclaimed. The party had taken some serious damage in that last round and could not afford much more. "Em, heal yourself up, we can handle this round. Brickington, retreat to the back row and keep pressing on the Apprentice, he's bound to break sooner or later. Arnulf, keep that Anacondie busy. Karie give the Vipunch the old one two. Meanwhile I'll show this Hiticuffs the penalty for attacking one of our allies, I'll try to eliminate the Cobrawler as well, but I can't promise anything." Jeaux rapidly fires an arrow at the purple reptile from the back row. Party Order: Brickington Jeaux Em Arnulf Karie Edit: Changing things a bit as I forgot Karie was poisoned.
  7. OOC: Sorry Em, I should have specified a little clearer. If Arnulf or Karie are hit by an enemy higher than level 4 and the apprentice uses Rob them Blind, then they will be knocked out in the front row. Since you can attack from the back row without a penalty I believe is only one case where you will take enough damage to be KO'd (a special from the apprentice, histicuffs, and anacondie, and you get poisoned by anacondie's attack). You can make your own choice of course, I just wanted to relay my thoughts behind the battle plan. Jeaux could smell the stench of toxins permeating the room. Between the snakes, the vials, and his own teammates, there was most likely enough poisonous substances here to kill a small village.
  8. OOC: Is the cobrawler already poisoned? The apprentice had declared combat on the party. Jeaux quickly spoke to his party to establish a plan for the battle. "Arnulf and Karie, take care of those lowly serpents (cobrawler & vipunch). Em, turn that 3rd one (Histicuffs) into a pin cushion. I'll work on eliminating the large snake in front of us. As for the apprentice, he's all yours Sir Brickington." Jeaux loads an arrow on his bow and takes a shot at the embiggened cobra from the back of the room. Party Order: Karie Arnulf Em Jeaux Brickington
  9. Can a knight use sentinel if he/she is blinded?
  10. "So where is your cousin now?" Jeaux inquired. The apprentice was the only person he could see in the room. The hissing sound was most likely the man's pet snake. If this was merely the apprentice then where could the Stealer of Senses be?
  11. "We will give you an opportunity to speak, but at the first sign of danger from you, story time is over." Jeaux prepares an arrow and keeps a watchful eye on the Harvester to ensure the Apprentice doesn't get the drop on them a second time.
  12. "If everyone is feeling back at fighting strength, then I say we press on." Jeaux said, as he continued straight ahead.
  13. Laser swords don't , Though that's a little outside of the heroica theme.
  14. Jeaux passed out the weapons to his companions. He gave the long sword to Arnulf, the Great sword to Brickington, the Dagger to Karie, and kept the bow for himself. These weapons were of a finer quality than the ones they had come with, and with the sharpening stone Em had received after the previous bout, it would increase the total power of the party considerably. "Thank you for your assistance" Jeaux said to the Captain of the watch. "We will use these weapons wisely, if you can provide us with directions it would likely help. If not, then we should probably get moving. The noise from our fight may have attracted other guards from elsewhere in the compound."
  15. "Yes", Jeaux responded to Karie's query. "The man we met earlier claimed to only be an apprentice in this operation, it seems none have laid eyes his master as of yet."
  16. Jeaux looked at the guardsmen. He was glad to see they were unhurt... mostly. His suspicions had been correct, and it appeared that being knocked out had somehow restored the memories that had been stolen. He asked the guard captain who seemed to be speaking for the group, "Do you remember the layout of this prison? It may help us find a way out or possibly help us locate the one who bought us here. Also, if you are feeling better, might you and your men be able to help us bring this criminal to justice?".
  17. Ahh, I missed that. Carry on then!
  18. Endgame, it seems there may have been some confusion in the loot distribution Sir Brickington should have a grand potion instead of a potion (he traded me a potion for the grand potion) Em should not have a grand potion, and he should have 45 gold, not 55 (25 + 20) Arnulf should also have 45 gold not 35(25 + 20) Everything else looks good though.
  19. Jeaux distributed the well fought rewards between his party members. He gave everyone in the party 20 gold pieces. He then handed the valuable grating stone and one remedy to Em, because the ranger had bravely sacrificed himself during the battle instead of benefiting from the valuable experience it provided. To Sir Brickington, he passed the smoke bomb, and the glowing phoenix essence. If another party member were to fall, it was unlikely to be the sturdy tank, and it would benefit the party greatly if he could revive the one who had suffered a knock out blow. He gave the other 2 remedies to Arnulf and Karie, so a greater number of party members would be able to retrieve their senses if the apprentice managed to steal them again. With only the grand potion remaining, Jeaux offered it in trade with Sir Brickington for a more traditional potion from his inventory. For the agile ranger, it made little difference, but the more powerful mixture may be more effective for the knight.
  20. Jeaux could sense the fear emanating from his opponent. "Yes you are all alone, we tried to reason with you, we tried to bribe you, and yet you insisted on facing us in combat. Now you shall know the error of your ways." He pulled an arrow from his quiver and strung it from his bow, aiming at the lone soldier standing in their way. "Goodbye", He said with a certain finality in his voice before released his grip and letting the arrow soar. Jeaux attacked Hard Head from the back row. Party Order: Jeaux Brickington Karie Arnulf OOC: I really hope we kill him this turn, or Jeaux's speech will lose a lot of its gravitas.
  21. Feeling rejuvenated from the potion Jeaux rallies the team, "We've got them on the defensive, press the attack and finish the fight!" Jeaux nocks an arrow aimed at the large Bearded man from the back row. OOC: 2 on beardy so we can increase the odds of getting rid of him, 1 on Hard Head to prevent the free attack in the event that we fail. Party Order: Karie Jeaux Arnulf Brickington
  22. Jeaux clutched his chest after being cut by the soldier. As he pulled his hand away, he could see it was stained with blood. The blow could have been worse, but for the moment it was enough to pull him out of the fight. These foes were providing a far more difficult challenge than the previous skirmish had. Jeaux reached into his satchel and fetched a potion, hopefully this would give him the strength he needed to continue. He drank his potion from the back row of the parties formation. Party Order: Jeaux Arnulf Karie Brickington
  23. The enemy was had managed to resist their attack that round, but Jeaux was confident his team would be the victors today. He fired an arrow at Dualo from the back row, hoping his skills were enough to match the man's speed. Party Order: Arnulf Brickington Jeaux Karie Em
  24. Jeaux could see the battle was going in their favor and with any luck it would be over quickly. He let loose another arrow at the Bearded Soldier from the back row. Party Order: Brickington Em Jeaux Arnulf Karie
  25. Drat! Jeaux thought with some disdain. These were honest men, sworn to protect the people of Eubric, yet the Apprentice had somehow twisted them to serve his own needs. He did not wish to harm them, but it was quite obvious the feeling was not mutual. He stared down the large guard with a beard. He seemed to be the slowest of the group and would most likely provide the easiest target for Jeaux's arrows. He released his grip, sending the arrow sailing towards the bearded one from the back row." He cried out words of encouragement to the rest of his party, "Everyone take a target, if all are covered then push the offensive against the leader! Remember to avoid any unnecessary risks" Party Order: Brickington Em Jeaux Arnulf Karie OOC: I don't have any great strategies at the moment, I think trying to reduce the special damage odds on the 2 with bleed effects at the beginning of the fight, might make things easier, but there's still an element of luck involved.
