Heroica RPG - Quest #61: Grim Grinning Ghosts
joeshmoe554 replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
OOC: I used the venom Amma gave me on my weapon earlier. "Let's put an end to these specters and their horrific puns. Amma, Em and I will each target one of the specters. Heckz and Zoltan pick one each to best distribute our damage. Remember, your ice magic is useless against these foes so you'll be limited to physical attacks. Given the strength of their power, it might be best for everyone to stick to the back row." Jeaux nocks an arrow on his bow and fires a shot at Specter B (from the back row) Party Order: Zoltan Amma Jeaux Em Heckz -

Just to switch things up Jeaux selects the tombstone directly to the left of the one the party has selected so far. X X X X X X X X X X X X -

"I see three possible tombstones the ghosts could currently be hiding in. One of those tombstones has only one possible exit, and if the ghosts are hiding there we are guaranteed to find them on our next pick, the second tombstone has two possible exits increasing our odds to 50% on our next pick. The last option has 3 possible routes and the lowest odds for our next selection. It would make sense to select that tombstone now giving us an 83.3% chance of finding the ghosts in our next two picks, and a 91.7% chance of finding the ghosts before they ruin 6 tombstones." Jeaux once again approaches his un-lucky tombstone once again. "If anyone has a better idea, I am open to suggestions." X X X X X X X X X X X X -

"I can see the logic in that. I doubt these ghosts will go quietly once we have confronted them, and we will likely need your strength then. Now as they say, the third time is the charm." Jeaux said, as he investigated the same tombstone again. X X X X X X X X X X X X -

"No reason I can see to not stick with the same one." -
Given those are consumables and can only be used once each, wouldn't it make more sense to make them about the same price as a scroll, which can be used at any time. The consumable has a 100% effectiveness, and can be used by anyone, but you have to buy one for every time you want to use it.

"My personal vote is for that one." Jeaux points to one of the tombstones which may hide the spirits. X X X X X X X X X X X X OOC: If we eliminate the center 3 tombstones, it will allow only one path of movement. Nevermind, I was thinking of something else -
I believe this is what you are thinking of ... It was in response to the idea of merging different weapons to combine effects, but the same idea could easily present itself with things like a "Honing stone of stunning".

Jeaux takes the 3 gold and venom from Amma, "Thank you, this may prove useful up ahead." Jeaux removes the stopper from the venom and applies it to Eminus. "I have everything I need for any battles ahead, I'm ready to move on to our final destination when you are.", Jeaux tells the leader of their party. -
Now I really want to join in on 65. Luckily, even if I'm not on the quest I can still solve the puzzles from the sidelines.

For being unprepared, It's a really good set of enemies. You're hit point calculation was a little low on a couple of them, but the specials for the 3 ravens, and the way they complement each other is terrific. I think it makes for a more interesting strategy, as there is a definite benefit to targeting specific enemies before the others and ignoring certain enemies to reduce the effectiveness of others.

Jeaux eyed the dwarf suspiciously as she tossed her torch aside. It was almost as if she were afraid of the light. A peculiar case given the inverse tended to be the norm. The mage asked the parties opinion of where their next destination should lie, to which Jeaux responded, "I never like to leave a job half-finished. We were hired to clear the evil spirits from this graveyard and we should complete the task before we depart." -
The weapon would be able to damage all non-ethereal enemies, and still deal double damage to humanoids and undead. It's a way to have an elemental weapon that does not suffer any downsides. I would prefer to carry two weapons that oppose each other so you can deal double damage against more enemies, but that requires the hero to maintain/upgrade two weapons instead of one.

OOC: Triple shot always deals 3 attacks. If there are less than 3 enemies the attacks will stack, thus I believe it would have dealt 14 damage to Shadow A and 28 damage to Shadow B. Also shouldn't Heckz have dealt 6 damage since the passive special halves damage? And lastly, Shadow A should be at 38 health (60 - 8 (Zoltan round 2) - 14 (Jeaux round 3) = 38). Agitated from his ordeal in the shadows, Jeaux felt like he was undergoing an adrenaline surge. Without even realizing it, he unleashed a barrage of arrows on his two opponents, dealing significant damage to the one who had taken him. He pulled another arrow from his quiver, determined to finish the demon and cleanse the area. Jeaux attacks Shadow B from the back row -
Doing a quick search through Heroica's history I was able to find these quests. 2, 6, 11, 15, 18, 23, 25, 27, 28, 29, 40, 57, 61 Unlimited I'm a little suspicious of that gap between 29 and 57, so I probably missed a few due to QMs using different language in their battle descriptions. EDIT: Added 23, 40, and Unlimited

The evil being that had been holding tightly to Jeaux suddenly let go of him. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Jeaux quickly returned to the rear of the party's formation and aimed for the Shadow that had taken him. Jeaux attacks Shadow B from the back row. -

OOC: Scroll of Inspiration Enables casting the inspired-effect to the target, doubling their current and maximum health for the remainder of the battle. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 10 ether. Usable only by mages, clerics, Necromancers, Chi Monks, and Minstrels. -
I was thinking the same thing about quest #65. I have a feeling there may be a couple instances of grey morality in that quest.
