  1. There's your problem, you should really be using Ctrl+Z for undo, and a keyboard with a Ctrl button, and an Operating system that uses a Ctrl button. I use GIMP at work since they have so far refused my request for Photoshop every year. The program works pretty well and there are a couple features that work better than Photoshop, but for the most part I still vastly prefer Photoshop for my image editing.
  2. OOC: Doesn't make a difference that round but Jeaux weapon power is 13 + the number of the round of battle thanks to the ranger's quiver. Pleased with finally striking his target, Jeaux turned the cannon on their final foe, and took careful aim. Focusing on what he had learned from his earlier mistakes in the battle. Jeaux attacks Frog F from the back row
  3. Jeaux aims another shot at his target, taking care to maintain his aim through the explosive blast. Jeaux attakcs Frog C from the back row.
  4. Feeling somewhat refreshed thanks to the potion Jeaux once more directs the hand cannon at his opponent. Picking the frog in the center of the enemy formation hoping a misplaced shot might strike one of the amphibians allies. Jeaux attacks Frog C from the back row
  5. I wasn't left asking questions at the end so I wouldn't call it shallow. The explanation at the end was a little quick, but it felt right to me. If you are running from your foes, you aren't going to spend a lot of time explaining things, and yet I could still see the machine spending the time to explain things as a way of justifying his actions. I definitely like how the supposed hero or savior of the protagonist had his own, somewhat villainous, motives.
  6. OOC: Heckz should have dealt 37 damage since row does not affect spells, ice magic deals double damage against beasts, and the weapon's element plays no role in spell casting. Once again Jeaux failed to find his target giving the malevolent frog an opportunity to get the jump on him. He was struggling just to keep his eyes open. Jeaux reached into his briefcase and withdrew a potion, pouring it into a mysterious emptiness that appeared where his mouth would normally reside. He could feel the magic of the contents restoring him to fighting shape. He turned and noticed one of his team-mates suffering from a particularly nasty poison, He withdrew the remedy he had as well and tossed it at the barbarian, curing him of his ailment. Jeaux uses a potion on himself and a remedy on Tarn
  7. I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen one of the evokers with a bigger fish summon, though the demonic ice cube tray is pretty awesome.
  8. The explosion from the hand cannon rocked Jeaux's concentration causing him to miss and leaving him with a ringing noise pownding in his mind. The dazed automaton didn't notice his target bearing down on him until it was too late. The amphibian bit down hard on the ranger causing him to wince in pain. He shook his head and took aim at another foe, hoping to fare better this go around. Jeaux attacks Frog C from the back row. OOC: I could also toss an ice bomb (killing frog F) and us a potion on myself or remedy Alan if the party-leader wishes.
  9. For some unknown reason, reading your Poe references made me start thinking of an Escher inspired quest. Heroes getting stuck in infinite staircases, falling onto the ceiling, meeting an infinite number of clones that all fit together like a jigsaw. Amontillado Wine: seals the user (behind a wall of bricks).
  10. Awesome story. I love short sci-fi stories and one of the most difficult elements is to establish a world different from our own in a little space. You did a great job of narrating the story, revealing the twist bit by bit. It actually reminded me of a few Twilight Zone episodes.
  11. Jeaux brings the large hand cannon to bear, aiming down the sights at the first opponent he saw attacking Frog A from the back row.
  12. "I am ready as well once the leader of our party gives the word."
  13. If think if you implement an RP means of avoiding combat you should try to associate a reward with doing so (1 pt of XP and/or some loot). Avoiding combat may often be in character for players, but missing out on loot and experience can push players to fight anyway. If the players are rewarded either way, then they will be more likely to avoid those fights. Perhaps if the characters objective is to sneak in and assassinate someone, there could be a bonus reward for not alerting the guards, or their reward could be tied to the number of guards they killed. (For every guard killed the reward drops by x gold)
  14. "Thank you, I'll try to make good use of it and not break it in the process." Jeaux replied while accepting the hand-cannon Jeaux turned to the apparent expert on these lizards, "Yes could we get some more information about the animals we'll be facing. What kind of range can they achieve with their phlegm projectiles? What kind of metabolism do they have? What's their growth rate? Any information you can provide may help us in apprehending them safely."
  15. The hooded assassin who had joined the party finally spoke up. "My name is Jeaux, I am still fairly new to Heroica, but I do have some experience dispatching a variety of enemies. That hand-cannon does look a decent bit more powerful than my current bow, I don't have much experience using weapons such as that but if you are willing to lend it to me, I am willing to give it a shot."
  16. Jeaux took a quick look at the map. It was a crude representation of the island, but it would serve its purpose. "Given our guide's comments regarding how dangerous the Velocinoids are, we might be better off starting with the Spitosaurs, and making our way around the island counter-clockwise. Though the order in which we accomplish our goals is of little importance, I'm willing to go where ever the party leader decides to head." The automaton glanced around the compound where the party was currently located to see if there may be anything useful the party should bring with them.
  17. "I wish I could tell you, but I'm not entirely sure myself. My hope is as I see more of this world some of my memories may return to me, but so far my search has proven fruitless."
  18. "The first step would be to know your allies, enemies come second," Jeaux said to Haldor. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance Haldor, My name is Jeaux and while I have only recently arrived in Eubric, I take my responsibilities very seriously." Jeaux turned to the two other veteran heroes, "May I know your names as well, I typically feel more comfortable trusting people when I know what they are called."
  19. I kid of course, with Benji tanking, Haldor Healing, and Tarn savagely destroying everything in his path. We'll be sitting pretty.
  20. I predict death and destruction for Lex and Tim Heckz and Jeaux on this quest. Anything that can harm Benji, will one shot Heckz.
  21. "Is there anyone else on this island? You mentioned something in the hall about the lizards attacking people." Jeaux glanced at the other individuals in the party. He knew insane mage from the cemetery, but the other three were unknown to him. From their appearance it seems they were experienced heroes who had likely been in the business for some time. OOC: Stats are correct
  22. Jeaux noticed an adventurous looking man make his way into the hall. He seemed to be in quite a hurry and the automaton decided it would probably be best to not spend too much time dilly dallying.
  23. The base story is simple; however the constant deception made things a bit more confusing. First Craw-free was a beggar, then he was part of the plot. First the Po-Brothers worked for the Mafia, then the Church. First the church accountant was just an accountant, then he was the mastermind behind the entire plot, and not a he, and not named Abe. There's even rats that are cats and newts that are rather embarrassed heroes, nothing is as it seems on that quest.
  24. I almost agree with that except when it comes to player knowledge versus character knowledge. Just like I might forget if Jeaux has interacted with a particular hero in the past, I could just as likely forget that he did not or has not interacted with a hero. Due to the nature of quests, two heroes can go a long time without ever meeting each other and trying to remember that lack of interactions can be tricky. As to whether or not my character remembers people, I tend to play Jeaux very much like my own personality. I figure his memory would be about the same as mine, horrible with names but pretty good with random useless tidbits of information, and numbers of course. He is definitely good with numbers.
  25. While returning the quill to its resting place beside the quest board Jeaux got the eerie feeling that he was being watched. He glanced around, but saw nothing to validate his concerns. Shrugging he headed back to the bar and ordered another drink.
