Jeaux continued to look at the scorpion like creature, ignoring the comment from Sarge. OOC:I'm well aware of that, but Jeaux doesn't know fate is determined by a roll of the dice.- 823 replies

"Trust is not so easy a thing to earn, especially when you have proven yourself untrustworthy in the past." Jeaux's emphasis on the word you seemed to indicate he was not only talking about the Proggs. He had not forgotten Sarge's instinct for self preservation placing the rest of party in danger from their last quest together. "If you did not wish to be ousted from yet another home, then why did you chose a location so close to those who hold such hatred for your kind?"- 823 replies

"They hate you because they fear you, and with good reason it would seem. Given your actions of the past, it will likely prove quite difficult to erase that fear and convince them to allow you to live peacefully under their city."- 823 replies

So this was a progg. Jeaux took a moment to observe the strange creature that had carried them here. It was obviously much stronger than any average human, and yet there was an air of fear in his voice. "What exactly occurred in Luosh that would prevent you from defending yourselves?"- 823 replies

Well, I hope these proggs are friendly. It seems unlikely they would hire heroes for no purpose beyond leading them into a trap. Though it would not be the first time it had happened." Jeaux recalled his first quest where the request came from the villain himself. He turned to other ranger in the group and introduced himself, "I don't believe we have met, My name is Jeaux."- 823 replies

Are you really going to ask that question at the beginning of an Endgame quest. That's like saying "it couldn't possibly get worse", or "let's split up to cover more ground" in a horror movie.

OOC: Picked up a couple things at the market Jeaux awoke with a start. His nightmare had been rather vivid and yet to hazy to gather much information from it. Could it be a memory from his past that had somehow managed to make its way back to his conciousness. Jeaux started to consider summoning Nilrem to talk about it, or perhaps asking Turdwing for some insight before thinking better of it. He would need his ether for the upcoming quest and Turdwing would likely be of little help. Jeaux headed into the hall to see if his new employer's had posted the location where they were to meet yet. He saw Em there, and decided to join him for the moment. It would be better if they departed as a group.- 823 replies

I think the fact that the easter eggs are easier to read than the actual message on 81 kind of makes them less of easter eggs. I pulled out the blue color channel and I can almost make out the message, "Heroes Please meet me at (rendezvous?) point It is the dead end closest to (something?)".

Jeaux enters the marketplace heading first to the potion shack where he purchases a grand tonic and 3 grand potions. He then walks over to Fabian's stall to browse his wares. He picks up the enchanted bracelet, reading the description on the small tag attached. Given he had only recently managed to unlock his magic potential, it would make sense to protect that ability. Jeaux purchases the item, handing his gold to the flamboyant elf. He departs the marketplace with 167 gold remaining in his briefcase. (267 - (10 + 10 + 10 + 30 + 40) = 167)

Jeaux heard a scream come from near the quest board. He saw a woman who appeared to be partially made of wood walking away calmly, somewhat embarrassed by the outburst. He never expected to see another individual with a makeup similar to his own, though she appeared to be different in some way. As if her body was merged with a living tree instead of implanted in a dead one. He made his way to the quest board to see what had caused the commotion. He had been selected to help the proggs with their dilemma. Hopefully he would soon discover just what these proggs were.

Jeaux watched as a group left the hall to attend the unveiling. He had hoped to see more of the masked man and learn more of the guild's capabilities. If they could restore life to the dead, it was hard to imagine what might be outside of their reach. He looked to the quest board once more. He saw a couple of requests from the Hinkwell's on the board, though neither held much interest for him. From what he had seen in Eubric, the Hinkwell's and Shadeaux acted like children, either one despising the other for reasons they had likely forgotten many years ago. He noticed the notice from the proggs had been extended. Jeaux was unsure who the proggs were, but a chance for more knowledge of this world would be perhaps be another opportunity to find his place in it. He signed his name under the list for Quest #81. The final quest that had been posted sounded rather odd. A tale of demons and evil, based solely on a person's dreams. While it was likely nothing more than someone's delusions, he signed his name for Quest #85 as well. A chance to explore beyond the Free Islands seemed like a welcome change of pace.

Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Final Day
joeshmoe554 replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
The best games are fun whether you win or lose. I had been thinking of killing Kharybdis for a while even though I was pretty sure she wasn't Nephilim. Thankfully, since I was neutral, I could do so without betraying any faction. I've played Mafia once before on another forum and I have to say I had a lot more fun there. There was significantly more roleplaying, and less pure strategy. Since the strategy makes up the majority of the back and forth conversations, it also went at a much slower pace that made things easier to follow. This was definitely a fun experience, but not quite my cup of tea.- 109 replies

So Sarge killed his first man at the ripe old age of 4.

Hippocamp tears were mentioned in Quest 11, as an NPC put it, "These Hippocamp tears yer after, ya know those are pretty strong stuff, strongest hallucinogen on the sea they say. The port authorities banned the import of 'em 8 months ago, those things will knock ya out for a week, trust me I've sampled the trial size."

Jeaux entered through the doors of the hall. It was quite busy with activity since most of the heroes were back from their adventures. He made his way to the quest board to take a glance at the recent notices. He saw a request for heroes to escort a team of reporters to an event involving the Guild of Invision. It would seem the masked man Dr. Cula was so afraid of would be making an appearance. Jeaux signed his name for quest #82, then headed to the bar for a drink.

Yep, I've reserved Loki's outfit for druid Jeaux. I'll have to think about picking up one of the Dr. Doom sets for the dark green hood, though I kind of like the bald simplicity of the current look.

Jeaux wandered into the Training room. Finally refreshed from his recent trip to the cemetery. He had been working for Heroica for a short while now and decided it was about time to see about applying this experience to improving his skills. As he entered, he was greeted by one of Heroica's Veterans, the copper fox. "Greetings, you must be looking for me. I must say, I've trained a lot of people here, but none quite like you before." "I don't suppose you have. To my knowledge there are none quite like me in this world. I have come to see if I might improve my abilities with your guidance." "Of course, follow me." The copper fox lead Jeaux outside to a training area, with a target set up a ways off. "I want you to shoot that target." Jeaux unslung the newly acquired handcannon from his shoulder and withdrew a flask from within his briefcase. He had removed the top of the flask and was just about to load the powder into his cannon when the copper fox stopped him. "You won't need to load it. You will be using your gemstone instead. I want you to aim at the target and focus. Imagine a blot of lightning arcing from your body to your destination. Imagine the air popping from the heat of the blast, the hairs on your... on my head standing on end from the energy in the air. I can sense the magic in you and if you can picture it in your mind than you can make it happen." Jeaux took aim at his target and began to concentrate. He pictured his attack in his mind's eye and watched as a bolt of lightning struck the target he was aiming at. He could hardly believe it. He had seen plenty of mage's utilize these attacks before, but he never thought it was something he was capable of especially now. "Very good. Now for the next step of your training. I want you to again focus on your gemstone, but this time picture a manifestation of the element." Jeaux began to concentrate once more, but his mind began to wander. How could an artificial creation still have a connection to the ethereal energies of this world. Was there more of his soul left than Nilrem had let on, or perhaps there was more power in a soul than Jeaux had realized before. It was difficult to believe, but how could the magical energy required to perform such feats arise from the body of an automaton. With that thought an enormous machine appeared in front of Jeaux. It was clad with a yellow armor and had two odd appendages that seemed more like cannons than hands. In the center of the torso was a round sphere with a glowing yellow eye. If the appearance of this creation wasn't enough to startle Jeaux, the voice when it spoke was. "Hell Yeah! I'm back baby! Large and in charge. And, HOLY CRAP! I have, like, giant lightning guns for hands." Jeaux looked on at the enormous automaton that had appeared out of nowhere. The voice resembled that of the wizard he had come to know well before arriving at Heroica. The voice that told him he was no longer human. The machine seemed to be pointing his cannons at things, pretending to blow them up. "KERCHOW! KERCHOW! Oh, hi nice to meet you, care to shake my hand KERCHOW! I think I could get used to th-" Just as suddenly as the machine had appeared, he disappeared. The energy that had spawned him returned to Jeaux, surrounding him in bright light before dissipating completely. As the light faded, Jeaux noticed it had altered his clothing and appearance. It had even modified the look of the cannon in his hand. "It would seem you have learned all I can teach you for the moment. Take care to watch over that creation of yours, he seems somewhat unstable." "I will do that, thank you for the assistance." With that Jeaux left the training area, finding himself with even more questions regarding the nature of the spell Nilrem had used on him. Geosmos could hear people talking about him. They were using odd terms he was unfamiliar with, though the general idea seemed to be questioning his trustworthiness. "Zplif... I would prefer... to stick with... my original... actions... as altering... them now would... delay the... attack against... Cromeo... whom I believe... to be a... Nephilim... I would hope... I can still manage... to find you... by following... your voice... as I hope... you would only... hide from that... which might... harm you."- 186 replies
