"How will bait be effective, if there is no trap to utilize it? I can see no benefit to you purposefully endangering yourselves with no plan to catch the culprit when he comes to take you."
-
"I must agree with the monk. If we split up then we may lose more people without gaining any additional information regarding our target." Jeaux did a quick glance around the baron's office. "I suppose we should start doing a sweep of the community to see if we can find any clues pointing us in the right direction. Do you have a map Zylstra to help in the search?"
-
Jeaux looked over the man standing before him. "The Baron says you are a professional at dealing with magical problems. What sort of experience do you have in these areas, and have you encountered a disappearing act similar to this before?"
-
Jeaux looked around the room, initially seeing little out the ordinary with the exception of the rather tall hats his hosts were wearing. As his view passed Hybros, he began to think it may have been some way of compensating for their short stature. "What was the last known location for the first person who disappeared? Also has there been any trace left behind from the disappearances, perhaps something a person was carrying, a scrap of clothing, a hat or some sign of a struggle? Any thought as to why the two of you have yet to be taken?"

"It is my name, not the name of a creator or mechanic but myself. I have not met the individual who crafted this form so I cannot say what his name may be or if he is a reckless individual." "If he is our employer than we should meet with him and see what more information he can give us."
-
"As I said earlier, I am an automaton.", Jeaux replied, without any sign of anger or frustration in his voice.
-
"My name is Jeaux. If you come from under the ground, then this place must be rather comfortable to you." Jeaux looked at the tunnels they were traveling through. They reminded him a bit of the progg colony he had recently returned from. He began to wonder just how many underground societies there were in Eubric.
-
"I am an automaton. As to the Tritech Company, Mister Legonardo mentioned them in a letter I received and suggested that this body was likely built there, but I can not say for certain. Your species is not one I am familiar with. Where is your origin?"
-
"We shall do our best to live up to your expectations." Jeaux had arrived while the others were talking among themselves. "Your request mentioned people disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Do you have any more information regarding these disappearances, now that we meet face to face?"

As the clock was nearing noon, Jeaux followed the other three out of the hall and headed towards the apothecary.

I just now remembered that tomorrow is April 1st.

I would like to commend Flipz on choosing to post his wall of text as the last post on the page (given a default page size of 25 posts). So any future updates to the training room thread won't require anyone to scroll through the post or load all of the images again.

Jeaux approaches the board and signs his name on the list for quest #98

Given a Nostrum is currently 35 gold in the marketplace, at what price do people think the Loaded Die breaks even?
-
When you say "If the hero rolls 4 or 5 twice", are you referring to twice in a row, or twice per wager?
-
I think the heroes could probably resell the loaded die and quickdraw quiver for a decent profit as well.

Jeaux approaches the quest board and signs his name under the Unlimited Quest.

Hearing mention of the name, Jeaux enters into the conversation, "Then you may be interested to know that she is dead. Killed by a manifestation of dark magical energy." "Most of them do not seem to be. There is one who refers to himself as The Regret who intends to destroy the world, though he did more damage to the proggs than anyone else."

I personally like his writing, and of 9 actors I've seen in the role, Smith was my favorite. Some of his stories got a little too intricate and convoluted, but overall I still think he is one of the best writers there is when it comes to time travel stories. Anyway, back to Heroica. As far as references go, I'm still waiting to see someone named Alice or Cooper in #93.
-
I believe it was a reference to , either that or he was calling Zepher .

"Another individual to contact may be the blacksmith in the Progg colony, if he was not one of the members taken of course. He mentioned experience crafting specialized weapons of destruction, and may have insight into how to build the contraption you are thinking of."

My player breakdown after a bit of thought. Sarge - Sarge seems to present a simple exterior to try and appear braver than he is. Given what I have read, Sarge seems to be sick and dying. The speech he gave to Johon at the end of the quest showed me that he is afraid of his impending death and will do anything he can to try and postpone it as long as possible. Though I could be misreading all of that. Em - Quiet, yet resolute. This is one of the few characters that definitely seems to be quiet by choice. Jeaux tends to be a quiet character as well, though I could likely do more to roleplay when he has nothing to say. I find it somewhat interesting that while he is quiet, he will have outbursts that I would not expect from him. Johon - He seems to be a true hero. One who stands up for those that can't protect themselves. It is a bit odd given his class (mix of barbarian and rogue), his reluctance to kill opponents is also somewhat unexpected. Unfortunately, many of the RP moments in this quest with Johon were between him and NPCs regarding events I am unaware of, so there was very little context to figure out his character. Erdathcah - Erdathcath also seems like a true hero. It felt like there was a certain weight to her voice that made her somewhat intimidating and gaver her the ability to influence others, though she would consistently try to do the right thing. Giving up the quest reward at the end and saving Iris's life are just two examples of such. Jeaux - I'm still not 100% sure where I want to go with Jeaux. He has changed a bit over the last year and I'd like to think the change was gradual. I have a fairly good idea of what his character is now and I think I like it, but it may yet evolve more as time goes on. It was also somewhat fun to finally unmask the influence of the Antimutilav in his origin.

"That sounds like a fair deal", Jeaux said handing over the Serpent Head Shield.

"Whether they die by your hand or fate's the result is the same.". Johon's words stuck in Jeaux's mind. You become less of a person and more of a killing machine. Was this happening to him. He did not understand the barbarian's fear of taking lives as it seemed to defy any reason or rationale, perhaps becoming a machine in form had begun to change him into less of a person. Another thought also hovered in Jeaux's mind. Is that such a bad thing? "I have heard of him, though I have not yet met him. He sent me the armor I am currently wearing via Z-Mail and evidence suggests he may be the creator of the form I currently possess. Last I heard, he was spending most of his time at the Ji-Pei palace. I was planning to head that way shortly after finishing our business with the Progg colony. Perhaps he might hold more insight into who or what I am."

"If you wish to damage someone, then what value does their life hold to you? I can understand the value of an individual when that individual is assisting your cause or mission, but if someone is directly opposed to that mission, I see more value in their death than life." Jeaux says candidly. He looks down to inspect the journal on the table, leafing through the pages while continuing to speak, "Though to answer your question, I can suppose there are a few ways to incapacitate your foes without necessarily killing them. I have heard of spells that cause sleep or petrification being bound to weapons before, though I do not know how it was done. You may also be able to achieve your objective by dealing sufficient pain to prevent action without dealing enough damage to prevent life. That could be done using certain forms of magic such as lightning or fire I suppose. Another alternative may be to focus your technique on the extremities to avoid any vital organs."
