Karie contemplated getting up to chat with Arthur, but Dyric's sudden appearance caused her to cross her arms and sneer. She forgot that Arthur was friends with one of the few people in the hall Karie couldn't stand. Karie got up from her seat, bottle of wine in hand, and headed to the fireplace. She placed her arms on the back of one and looked the cloaked woman over with an inquisitive look. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm terribly nosey. Mind if I sit? I couldn't help but notice your entrance to little fanfare. You new around here?" Karie asked.

Karie ultimately fears letting down her daughter. She knows her job puts herself on the line, and she would do anything to ensure her daughter didn't grow up in a similar environment she did. Karie ultimately would do anything to secure her daughter's well being, which is something that drove Karie during 147: she wasn't going to have Immortalis cut down her daughter for the sins of others. If something did happen to Rachelle... I seriously don't know what Karie would do. I've portrayed angry Karie before, but that sort of an incident would push her over the edge. Annienal is terrified of a lot of things, the undead, graveyards, the dark, large groups, but she's ultimately terrified of what others think of her. For all of her book worminess, she really appreciates the few people who cling around her, and she's worried that once they find out she wants to turn herself into a dragon they'll dismiss her as a maniac, even though for her it's more about wanting to be able to explore the world and not be the meek creature she believes she is. Annienal believes that by turning into a dragon she'll be able to confront her crippling fear of just about everything.

We all knew this day was coming ever since the announcement, but I guess I didn't expect it to come this soon. Sandy, I don't think I, or the community as a whole, can thank you enough for the game you've created and fostered over. It's really been a wild, fun couple of years with you at the helm, and I can't thank you enough. This community won't quite be the same without you. Thanks for a wonderful five years, Sandy, you've earned every commemoration you've been given! As for the game, I'm still interested in playing. There's a few things I need to wrap up in terms of quests, and I still enjoy playing my characters.

"A little. She's catching onto certain words, making attempts to walk, talk. The stuff kids do." Karie replies. "No, it's nice. Everything's calmed down to a point where it's nice to just... relax for awhile." "Yeah, I've got a child. I think it's obvious it's Masson and I's."

I love how you used the surfboards for her ears. That's a fine usage of parts! All in all, a fine piece of work, well done!

Aaaand fixed.

Karie shrugged. "Nothing too incredibly fascinating." She knew there was the whole Immortalis bit, but she didn't feel like drudging it up. She'd talked about it enough. "Rachel's doing alright. Masson's thinking of getting a job in teaching. I don't know where, but I think he'd benefit from the environment. No, I'm enjoying the peace as of right now. It's something I haven't really enjoyed in awhile."

I totally missed this. I saw Karie's Fenghaung Essence, and totally missed Annie's Heavy Armour. Thanks, Sandy!

I didn't get Karie in the position she is now, having slain demons, dragons, started a family, and now vying for a spot as one of Heroica's veterans by constantly dropping characters in favour of new ones. My first question would be why did you drop Timothy? Honestly, I kind of liked what I saw of him. I think I might make a Character Creation 101 piece for the theatre, seeing as how it might be helpful to both newer players, as well as those coming up to their second character.

[MOC] Kaneda's bike from Akira (with instructions)
Kintobor replied to hachiroku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I may need to build this thing and stick it on my traveling layout. I love sticking stuff on it that go right over the kid's heads. The fact the model still looks like the bike, even at minifig scale is a real testament to how nice the model is. Well done! -
Displaying at events: How to get started?
Kintobor replied to Exetrius's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
As someone who does model train shows, as well as someone who displays Lego at model train shows, at least in my area the cost of exhibiting is absolutely free. The people who pay to be at the show are vendors selling their wares and the public who want to see the model trains. Usually the only thing a show coordinator needs of it's exhibitors is for them to be there so they can answer questions from the public and potentially operate their display. Although most of the groups in these model train shows are clubs, we've had private individuals come to our shows to display their show layouts. Usually for a model train show, the show coordinator asks the dimensions of your layout, and they work to find you space on the show room floor. I'm not sure if this is any different from a Lego-centric convention, since I've never been to one (le gasp!), but I'd recommend doing it at least once. If anything, it's a good learning experience and you get to meet people who share the same love for your hobby. -
Karie grinned. "What do you think? It's good to see you again. It feels like it's been forever." She motions for him to sit.

MOC series: Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Kintobor replied to Bugbot2008's topic in LEGO Licensed
The lot of these are fantastic, but that digger is really something! The Water Vat truck and the balloon are also really well replicated. I used to love this movie as a kid, and I still hold a soft spot for it, so seeing these was a nice treat. Great job! -
Jake Lightning returns! Knights Quest!

I think I'd prefer something familiar.

As a note, most games the Rod of Wonder is included in has a table to determine the effects that's usually kept hidden from the players and characters.

Train related stuff: bridge crane and signal box
Kintobor replied to SalvoBrick's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I too will share the same sentiment with Man with a hat, that's a nice signal box! I like the colour, and the masonry bricks are used nicely. The bridge crane's pretty nice, too.- 2 replies

Let's talk about the Rod of Wonder for a moment. It's considered one of the most memorable, and ridiculous items in roleplaying. It can turn an encounter into a cake walk, a much more gruelling experience, or anything, and everything, in between. What is a Rod of Wonder? It's a magical item, often a wand, that when used, emits a random effect with said effect being determined by a die roll. Such effects have been turning weapons into flowers, emitting hunks of gems that damage opponents, summoning rhinoceroses, changing characters genders, species, and skin colour, causing hair to fall out, casting the skin to stone spell, teleporting characters, having the wand berate the wielder for misusing it, causing fish to rain from the sky, shoot laser beams, summon demons, turning gold to lead, and so forth. It's an unpredictable weapon, but one that often causes a lot of enjoyment for players. So, the question is could this item work in the world in Heroica on a mechanical level, and how? Thematically it fits right in with the world's high fantasy/magitek setting, but could it be created without completely imploding in on itself? What are your guys's thoughts on this?

Ausini and Gaobole (GBL) trains (clone brands from China)
Kintobor replied to Hugo's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Does that tender actually say "Transport the Coal?" Oh, sometimes these knock off brands crack me up... -
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I did not see that twist coming.

The discussion of curry made Karie salivate at the thought of the dish. "The tribe aspect isn't quite as accurate as you think it is. When you put your name on the board to sign up for a job, the person who put it there is putting it there to look for people to help them with something they need done. The employer, the person giving the job, looks through the list, and chooses the names on the list and hires those they believe would be best fitted for the job. If a job shows up that interests you, sign yourself up for it. If a job doesn't interest you, then ignore it. Does that make sense?"

Noticing the bulletin on the quest board, Annienal signs up for Quest #154. --- Karie grinned. She hadn't really thought of it like that, but she had accomplished quite a bit in time with Heroica, more than what most people would've. "I appreciate the sentiment, Arthur. I know we haven't always seen eye to eye, but I do consider you one of the few people I can trust." She turns her attention to Zannaqim, seemingly having difficult with the common tongue. "Why aren't the veterans here? An excellent question. They're off doing their own little things. I'm certain they're somewhere in this hall, but I wouldn't know where." Karie looked around, finding herself somewhat the centre of attention for a small group of heroes. "As for their ties to the houses who run this city and are currently driving it into the dirt, it's become all the more obvious ever since the houses began currying favour with heroes in their alliances. This cities on the edge of war, and two Heroicans currently sit as the leaders of these alliances. If I had my way, I'd expel them from these halls. We don't need outside influences getting their hands in the affairs of an organization that should be defending those who can't defend themselves. Enough about me, though. I'm certain you don't want to hear me rag on about my thoughts on this place forever. What about yourself? Why are you here?" Karie asked, her eyes looking over the curious figure. "Vindsval, please, sit. I'm in need of good company and those who can provide it!" Karie beckoned over, happy to see her new friend.
-
Karie shrugged. "This hall needs people spearheading this organization, and the ones in charge I feel have become bloated with comfort. They have no reason to fear for their position being challenged because they have backing from the houses and, I suppose since you brought it up, the Norn relic." Karie leaned on her chair. "Lets say, Arthur, and this is just me throwing this out there, I were to become a veteran. Would you support my claim to such a position?" Karie noticed the new girl approach as she took a nip from a glass of wine. She lowered her glass and motioned for her to sit. "Well, I suppose they are, but myself and Arthur aren't. I mean, sure, we're experienced, but they're the ones who run this place." Karie responded, gesturing to the hall. "I don't like the veterans because they're collusion and altogether chummy attitude with the houses that run this city is becoming apparent. I came here seeking my fortune, not to get involved with political dogma." Karie huffed, getting riled up. She grinned, looking amused. Her anger seemed to wash away. "I'm sorry, I should introduce myself. The name's Karie, and you are?" She held out a hand to greet the newbie.

Pretty sure Asphalt is correct. Nowhere on the item does it say "double SP for Star Elves".
-
"Well, perhaps Heroica needs new veterans." Karie mused. "It seems most of the veterans are doing diddly squat to stop the house's influence in this organization."
