  1. Well, I did buy a SES last year, and if a BSB crosses my path at a reasonable price, I'll get it. There's just some sacrifices you have to make ;-)
  2. Recently someone complained about morten's Emperor MOC since that guy's made one before, too (a bigger version). Didn't result in a discussion, but it made me wonder what these people think. I mean, if you build a scene from a movie and someone else does, too, chances are quiiiiiite high those MOCs look alike... like, du-uh... :-| Although I don't mind, it is true ;-) But lately everybody's building the same stuff so it's not that exciting a place anymore...
  3. Good to see I'm not the only one losing interest in building if it takes too long ;-) But I agree with sne that long building time doesn't necessarily mean difficulty. I haven't got any of the big UCS sets, so I can't confirm their building process. As for hardest build: I don't think I have one. It took me some time to build 8436 and 8421, but only because I haven't built Technic sets in a long time and had to get used to the new studless beams. And both sets contain tons of pins and connectors which are a pain time-wise. Concerning difficulty both sets were pretty straightforward. What's always bothered me, though, are sets with strings. I hate to tie strings, cos I don't want to lose too much length and try to tie the knot(s) as "short" as possible. That's a pain for me ;-)
  4. Whoa, cheesey... ;-)
  5. Hmm... is that a "job" to be congratulated on? 8-| ;-)
  6. That'll have to wait a bit, though, but I will once finished ;-)
  7. Something like Jinzo suggested I'm currently working on. The "structure" isn't LEGO, though, cos I don't have that many plates and bricks. I'm using the "lower level" of my layout tables, as you can see here (front left corner, and never mind that Designer Pod there). The top plate I'll exchange for something translucent (dunno what yet, just not glass, more like translucent plastic, maybe with a blue "tint") and the track will move back, of course.

Interesting... I don't mind the "modern look" of the hull, I'll take it as a freighter. Which makes me wanna go out and buy the boat asap :-) I own both ports (6541 and 6542) and wanted to combine both freighters to one bigger one. The police hull could then serve as a second, swimming freighter... and my two Maersk Sealands make the really big freighter... darnit, so much to do, so little time! *sing*
  9. Great! I was planning to do the same (scaling down, I mean, not the same model ;-)) but haven't gotten around to it yet due to lots of other shelf models on my to-do list first. Nicely done :'-)
  10. Classic Castle, because of what I already said here :-)
  11. My two 4856 which I bought on sale two weeks ago arrived today. They'll make one "complete" warehouse in my harbor :-)
  12. Sorry for the delay but I didn't make it last week. I went today and didn't find that set. They only had the bat cave, the bat wing, the small batmobile set, and the UCS batmobile. I did see it in Villach, though, when I visited last weekend. They had exactly one set. No new Technic sets in either TRU, by the way, but the sale's still on. Hth
  13. Alright, that's enough Space in here, back to topic *sing* I received my 6559 today and am going to build it right now :-P

  16. Took advantage of the 15 % off sale at my home town's new TRU and got me a 4896 and a 3451 *sweet*
  17. 1000steine[1] ;-) AFAIK they just moved the data (the "board") on the german servers, nothing more. I don't think any other change was planned. You can only connect to port 1119 now, not 119 anymore. Works fine for me. [1] That place is slowly transforming into a german LUGNET, the same sort of childish bickering happening there more and more :-/
  18. We're talking "Divers" here, and the pieces don't really sound "Pirates" related, either ;-)
  19. Here's the reason "Divers" ended: USA Today Article In the box to the left of the article, below the picture, the paragraph titled "Legos". The year's about right, too ;-)
  20. No offense taken ;-) But I completely disagree with the boring part - and not just because I'm a train fan but because I see the reaction from kids when they see a moving train (not a push-along train): "Awesome! Look, mom!" and the like. A remotely controlled train (9V, RC, what have you) is still very popular among kids. The LEGO version is just very badly advertised and the way they sell it way too expensive.
  21. If only google wouldn't be so difficult to use...
  22. That may all be true, but I think the true reason of its succes is - it swims. I just saw a documentary the other day where they showed the effects of... I dunno... something with water (duh), and to make this "visible" and understandable to the average viewer they used a small water tank and - the Playmo Freighter. I think the possibility to let the models swim has a lot to do with the success among kids. Sure, I don't want those dull swimming hulls, either, but if it means success in selling, well, then go ahead, produce more of 'em (we adults just modify the damn thing). This year's police boat is the second of its sort, anyway. Maybe it does sell well, I dunno, I don't have it. But there were swimming boats in the past, remember the boat weights? I had a few of those and they were around for some time... So, I guess, I'll go out and buy twenty of those new police boats and all that's still available of the speed boat. I just don't like speed boats, I'm a sailor, but it'd be a sacrifice for the greater good ;-) ... and then I'll equip the ships with some SAM launchers to get those pesky space ships >:-)
  23. Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day :-)
  24. :-D This is turning in a thread like the Titles-thread ;-)
