That's perfectly ok. It's not stealing, it's "putting them to good use before they just lie around and start yellowing". So you're actually helping your son. Welcome :-)

People on a Megabloks forum want to know why...
Hobbes replied to Echo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, you "sounded" insulted. If you weren't, my apologies. About the jokes I did understand you right and I still think the overall tone has calmed down, both about MB and the fans. Your decision. Part of a discussion, though, is to accept different opinions. Without there wouldn't be a discussion and we'd all be living happily ever after and this message board would be dying of boredom. No, that was ok. You did touch a hot potato, true, but that just adds "life" to the discussion. No worries, most ppl here are mature enough to handle this topic and not let it "slide into chaos" ;-) -

That's called "life". You'll encounter more of that in your future, and not just about LEGO or MB. Now you're a bit sensitive. I think the general atmosphere in this thread has calmed down considerably. I know you like MB, too, but now you're acting like people insult you when they joke about or bash MB. I don't see a reason why they should... -
Right... I did forget... could have saved me a lot of aggravation if I had just remembered that I forgot...

I laughed, too. And since KimT wanted to build riots around it (which he explained earlier in the thread) I think it was a funny question ;-)

I like the trainstation! I want to include something similar (a bit smaller, though ;-) ) in my layout, too: a combination of trainstation and airport. Just haven't gotten around to designing anything yet. I like those trans-clear pieces, reminds me of the way the Austrian Railways restore their old stations: keep as much of the old building as possible and build modern stuff around it. Doesn't look as bad as it sounds. Your station could be one of them ;-)

A mule? That just cracked me up :-D :-D :-D

Of course ;-) A Transformer you mean? ;-) I just had to take the opportunity to say something "negative" about bionicle, no offense ;-) I do read the bionicle forum now and then and I noticed that you're a fan of the joints. The only joints I have came with 4506 Deep Sea Predators. I kinda liked them but wouldn't know where to use them... As for this MOC: yeah, it's a bit too greebly for my taste ;-)

It's an idea and I don't have a problem with that. It means an extra day for the hotel room, though, that should be taken into account.

I'm fine with April, although the last weekend would be nice, I think. May 1st is a holiday almost everywhere in Europe, and next year it's on a Tuesday, leaving Monday, April 30, "open" for a day off work and extend the weekend. Perfect for "regenerating" from the event ;-)

Ah, right, you mentioned it once - and suddenly you were gone ;-) Can't really speak for "over here", but "over there in the city" you missed a poll and another one's currently under way. Head over, check it out ;-) Welcome back :-)

Hmm... about a minute, I guess: Empty all your Bionuckle bins/cans, arrange the pieces so they look like an action figure, spray-glue all of it, wait, set it up, voil

Eeeeeewwww... there's non-LEGO stuff... :-P Very tidy room, I must say. Wanna clean up mine? ;-)

Interesting, two weeks later everybody starts to vote... well, the result's still the same... ;-)

After seeing this I like Bionuckle even less... and I was already at "leastest" before... Sorry, can't convert me ;-)

why those words are in italic? Dunno... :-D Hmm... must have accidentally clicked the I button... ;-)

After asking LEGO Direct they answered today: "Dear Mr xyz Thank you for your email from 09/05/06 and for your interest in our LEGO

I saw this poll some time ago. While the idea is good, I think it should've been an "open" survey, meaning we should be able to select the sets we complain about ourselves.
-
Well, I've never owned any of these sets, so I can only go by looks. Nostalgia, though, always is a factor for me, too. In this case I basically chose between 6392 and 6597. I really like the old, small one, but the bigger 6597 with all the accessories and the many minifigs let me vote for it. An airport does need some space and this one comes with all that's necessary. I've never really appreciated it after I first saw it. Probably because I never liked the old plane design. Now we have new ones but we don't like them, either, because they're too big - hard job for TLC to please us ;-) Nevertheless, 6597 got my vote, also because it has the nicest product picture of all, I think. I like this "Tropical Island setups", it reminds me of the airport at Pleasance in Mauritius where I've spent my most relaxing vacation so far. S@H Austria has the Legend re-release at

After establishing the architectural designs for EB's city emergency centers it's time to discuss and vote for infrastructure facilities. First off is the airport. As with hospitals we didn't get that many airports, either. Then again, it's not a fair comparison since they serve different needs. So, which one is your favorite? Vote here and share your thoughts about the set(s) :-) Here are the candidates (Click thumbs for bigger pictures) 1. 6392 Airport The first minifig era airport came in 1985. Its size reminded more of a small town airfield with a main building but that was the general town design at the time. With 8 minifigs, among them two females, it came with a good assortment of accessories for its size. Notice the political correctness by using a female air traffic controller? 2. 6396 International Jetport Five years later, with booming tourism, a restoration of the airport was needed. The old one was destroyed and a new one in a more touristic place was set up to also accomodate tourist attractions, like helicopter tours. The main building was re-designed to welcome the passengers in a friendly, vacation-like atmosphere. Personnell stayed the same. Thanks to hinckley39 for pointing out this set which I missed. 3. 6597 Century Skyway/10159 LEGO City Airport Almost 10 years after the first airport LEGO City has grown and needed an upgrade of its air traffic facility. The architects came up with 6597, a very nice (re)design, blending in perfectly with the town designs of the time. The structure of the main building stayed more or less the same, but it was expanded. So was the tarmac, and the tower was separated from the main building. With the ever growing trade and transport needs it now featured space for a transport helicopter. Also, 12 minifigs accompanied the set - which is a heck of a lot of 'em. The redesign also prompted TLC to rename this set to something catchy like "Century Skyway", a truly fitting name. People were so pleased with this design that when restauration and maintenance were needed another 10 years later no new design was developed but the old design re- newed. The set was renamed to City Airport and had a few more pieces because old molds had to be substituted by newer pieces. 4. 7894 Airport In the meantime LEGO town grew into a bustling city. The airport needed another upgrade to serve bigger planes "comin' to town". So, only two years after the last maintenance job a new airport was built, its design adapted to the overall city look. As with everything new today costs had to be cut and personnell had to be laid-off, hence the latest airport comes with less minifigs, no tarmac, and looks like a modern re-design of the very first one. Also, the helicopter was cut because tour bookings were declining... Well, which one is it? I will pin this poll for the voters' convenience and (try to) declare a winner in two weeks time, September 21. After that I'll unpin it again and you can find it via the City Index and still discuss and vote if you haven't already. Vote on!
-
No, there wasn't a deadline. I just thought that after two weeks time and the poll having stalled for some time lately it was time to declare a winner. I'll add a deadline in future polls but will continue to leave the polls open so people who haven't voted can still show appreciation for their favorite set. Well... du-uh! This isn't just pictures-only for the reading impaired! :-P ;-)

They (we) are the wiser people, they (we) have more life experience, they (we) know, so they (we) can't be wrong. ;-)
-
Well, by a lot-closer-than-I-thought margin of 9 votes over 8 we have a winner. I hereby declare EB's favorite hospital: 6380 Emergency Treatment Center This is the third poll, and the third time a classic town set wins. Either the classic design was the best, or the new designs aren't all that good an alternative ;-) Voting's still possible but won't be taken into account anymore.

Sorry, but I don't understand the world "heck" (I see it two times todays, and it's not in my dictionary!) heck /hek/ -noun something remarkable of its kind (usually used in the phrase heck of a): That was a heck of an impressive speech. Have one heck of a good time. In short, it was a compliment ;-) More here. Now, that's one heck of a rare word... ;-)
