  1. I just read that they'll hold their exhibition again, at a kids' fair from October 6-8. It's almost around the corner from my place, so I'll go and see that I can get some decent pics to share :-) Meanwhile, here's a shot of the inside of the temple:
  2. In a school here in Vienna, held by Austria's LUG.
  3. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D Sorry, but that just cracked me up! Too bad I'm not responsible for titles >:-)
  4. Of course. Why re-invent something that already worked? Actually, that's not that bad an idea...
  5. You know, I actually like it. The hull's way too big for a minifig fireboat, but it's red and now can be remade into the classic "Atlantic" from 6542 a lot easier, like in phoinix' thread about the remake with the police boat.
  6. Technical problem (I edited my post and deleted the attachments). Already fixed.
  7. Done :-) It seems natelite linked to the pics of my initial post. Yes, those I deleted cos they were attachments and I couldn't put the prices next to them.
  8. Well, I checked the sets on LUGNET. I even found the guy I bought back then, it was 3019. I must admit, the product pics look awesome. Had I checked that before voting I might have voted differently. Then again, product pics are always different than the sets look IRL ;-)
  9. Lime certainly does give it a different look. And I think it was the better choice than orange ;-)
  10. For a theme called Aqua Raiders I think TLC came up with decent stuff.
  11. Car. It's not that far from here, anything else would be too complicated.
  12. Inspired by yoda's new pics from next year's Aqua Raiders theme I roamed around amazon.de and found these pics. Enjoy :-) Edit: Edited by request of xenologer. Note: I just have the prices from Amazon Germany, I don't know any other prices! Names are links to amazon.de. 8100 Cyclone Defender - EUR 7.99 8101 Claw Crusher - EUR 7.99 8102 Blade Titan - EUR 14.99 8103 Sky Guardian - EUR 14.99 8104 Shadow Crawler - EUR 14.99 8105 Iron Condor - EUR 14.99
  13. Since yoda has the pix from amazon.de I thought I'd take a look. And I found a pic for 7906 :-)
  14. Thanks yoda! Well, judging from the pics I'm in. That shooting mechanism is sure easy to get rid of, but I like the overall look of the theme. And it can be combined with the 4888 submarine. The stickers have an EXO-FORCE-y touch but from what I can see I won't mind. Looking good for 2007, I'd say :-)
  15. Hello and welcome, "neighbor" ;-)
  16. I can't help it but your guy's secret identity sounds like a brand of swedish crispbread ;-)
  17. Yeah, I know. I already warned him but he's a bit stubborn at times. Guess I have to have a more serious talk with him... Brickster, I already welcomed you back, but I just remembered that I've got something you might like. I visited a local LEGO exhibition in August. It was small but it had a few nice dioramas. Unfortunately I had to use my cell phone camera so the pictures ain't of that a good quality. Here ya go: :-)
  18. Ninja came out during my dark ages. As I mentioned in my City story I did buy a Ninja guy in 1999 or so, but it wasn't enough to get me out of my sleep. I always like the stories of Samurais and Ninjas, but I didn't do any research on the subject or anything. If I saw something (i.e. movies mostly) I watched it. That was it, though. That LEGO had Ninjas surprised me, then again, back then everything LEGO was new to me. It looked interesting. Unfortunately I didn't find any other sets complementing this one. Guess it was a remaining stock item or something. I ended up giving it to my brother who has a few Classic Castle sets to use it with. He still has it, I think. So I voted average cos I don't know nothing about it but it looks like a good theme. Do another poll in a few months and let's see if you could change my mind ;-)
  19. I hate "Hawk"... :-X :-P As for your MOC: I like the color scheme. The sand green fits perfectly with the black, I think. OK, the green baseplate makes an odd contrast, but I just see it as a plate to put this thing on. I have a few sand greens at home and plan to build some houses for my town. Dark grey or black would have been my contrast color choice. Good to see that black works ;-) The doors are just great. Couldn't be done any better. The interior is something most people forget. When I saw tiled floors for the first time I thought "Yuk, what's this guy doing/thinking..." But the more I see it used the more I like it. It gives you a lot of possibilities to design the interior. Sometimes a good "tiling" can make up for missing interior. Guess it's time to stock up on my tile storage... The lime green stairs was a weird choice, but the wooden planks make up for it. It was a daring "move", though ;-) Anything else I'd be glad I could come up with on my own. I guess I have to borrow a few ideas for my stuff (should I ever start)... ;-) *y*
  20. No, you're going to get sued, tried (without defense), and jailed for that! :-P Of course it's ok, and the thread's not that old, anyways, and this way the forum doesn't get too complex. So, np :-) That's what I thought, too. I haven't gotten this set (yet) but I've seen it set up in the Hamburg LEGO store and found it too small width-wise. A "lower" but "longer" main building like in 6597/10159 would have been nice. Then I wouldn't mind the missing tarmac. Interesting. Another set (of very few, though) that seems to just have been "thrown together" to bring it on the market in a timely manner. Yeah, the times of 12 minifigs with an airport set are gone (6597/10159) :'-( I really like the luggage thingy because it uses existing bricks and is so simple. I'm still uncertain about the plane. Maybe I can get the plane alone from someone who has one too much (yoda? ;-)). Well, I also like some pieces that could be called <insert that tiresome argument>. Castle walls, for example. But those were made nicely, looked good, and "served a purpose". That new wing piece is just... I dunno... lack of design talent... I agree. But who's gonna buy 3 or 4 of those, especially for the European price? If you really mean 85 Dollars then that's ok IMO. Hmm... too many basic bricks? Dunno... I couldn't have too many of them ;-)

    My city story

I don't really have a City Story, more like an unfinished-layout story. This is what I grew up with: Just this bag, and a few baseplates not on the picture. I didn't have many sets, just a wild imagination. Then some time during the mid 1980s, in school, the dark ages hit me, and LEGO wasn't interesting anymore. Much later, in 1999 or so, I did buy one or two sets, when the first wave of SW sets hit the market. I had seen Episode I before and was surprised that LEGO had sets. Out of curiosity I even bought a small Ninja set, some guy with wings. But those two sets didn't wake me up from my dark ages. I didn't catch fire again until some time early 2004, when I found a 7725 on a local online auction site for quite little money. I won the auction and that was it. I was in it again. I surfed the net, found out that ebay had a pretty big LEGO marked and started to buy, buy, buy. My collection started to grow, from this: to this: Then my g/f (who unselfishly supports my hobby) and I moved to a bigger apartment where I got my own room *sweet* Thanks to ebay and the newly won space the collection continued to grow: Around that time I found out about the LEGO online community and in May 2005 I found EB - and got stuck here. Meanwhile, in real life, building on the floor wasn't that much fun, so I decided I needed some sort of tables. I roamed local home depot and furniture stores and found something to my liking that was sturdy, but at the same time left me enough flexibility if I wanted to rearrange - which I did want, more than once... At first I set them up for "easy access" from all sides: Somehow that wasn't satisfying, though. Mostly because I couldn't really build a track layout I liked, and I needed more space for the stuff from ebay and bricklink. So I decided to rearrange the tables: That gave me more space for sort of a city center but I wasn't really satisfied, either, because it turned out that again I couldn't build a decent track layout. And ebay and bricklink were pretty demanding space-wise. So, more rearranging: This actually pleased me more, but I just didn't find time to actually build something and arrange my layout. Ebay just kept me too busy. When I finally decided that it was time to actually work on my layout I also found out that the only way to build a decent track layout was to rearrange the tables once more. So I did: And this is were I am today. On the wall I mounted some shelves for my display models and the rest of my stuff is under the tables, all over the place. And I still haven't gotten around to set up a layout :'-( But some day I will...
  22. That's exactly what I always felt when browsing the catalog(s). I didn't have many sets, but just imagining if I had them was almost as much fun :-)
  23. Me last Saturday: :-)
  24. Hence the "What prevents you from posting" thread >:-)
