LEGO Direct told me something different yesterday. See here for details. I don't know the UK price but the original and reduced price look the same as in the EU countries when converted...

THE OLD Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List
Hobbes replied to The Middleman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I can add * jipay (buyer) * jindroush (seller) I was still new here when I dealt with them. Everything went smoothly. Thanks again :) -
I must second that. Been here for a bit more than a month and feeling home already :)

Update 6265 Sabre Island (2) 6276 Eldorado Fortress 6277 Imperial Trading Post (with box, quite worn) 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner (MIB)

It is a funny title and a perfectly fitting one (to an Ewok character at least) ;)

There, now I bought it :P It's tempting... the instructions need getting used to, though- a top-view is irritable at first glance... but I'll see if I'm in the mood sometime... Thanks everybody for the encouragement ;) PS: Me? I could never come up with a cunning plan like that... wouldn't dare think about it....................

OK, but if my g/f complains about me spending money on LEGO again I'll blame it on you :P ;)
-
I think it looks cool, I just don't have room for it That was my intention. Well, that sale's been going on for about a month now and I haven't bought it yet :P Maybe I just need some approval... encouragement... somebody to kick my butt and get me going... ;)

Alright, here's the deal: a toy store near my office has a few LEGO sets they sell off for half price. Among them is a 7194 Yoda. Half price in this case is EUR 62.50. My dilemma: I would buy it only for pieces for my Town buildings, I wouldn't build the sculpture. And somehow I have a hard time spending more than 60 Euro for something I won't build. I would use the pieces, of course, just not for what they were intended. So, should I buy it? :/ ... I probably know the answers anyway ;)

Well, firstly you're her brother and siblings rarely give presents the other one likes, and secondly no one has that much money to satisfy your Pirate-LEGO needs, anyways...
-
That was 5 years ago. I'm in good hands now: my g/f gives me LEGO on any possible occasion. Of course, that's not the only reason why I'm with her *looking around anxiously*...

I think I have one lying around somewhere. Never used it, though. My fingernails are strong enough.

Adding to phes' arguments, the post is too long for me to delve into it. I like SW but don't know it that well. So I didn't read it. Maybe I will when I have time. But I probably won't reply because I couldn't really contribute. And since the post is quite long, give people time to read it. Maybe some want to read it more often, I dunno. The "hit count" is probably deceiving, also. People might have opened the thread, seen the long post, and left the thread again (that's what I did). PS: I already noticed that you don't like your younger counterpart vcvc, but this thread has nothing to do with him (who, I have to add again, has been "behaving" lately). So, leave him out of this. Acting like this doesn't put you "above" him as you always claim. If you want a "war" do it via PM.

If that's the case you have a cute sister...
-
Oh reeeeally... the only Aussie girl I knew said exactly the same thing... you must be related...
-
Ummm... because he did... what exactly? No offense, but hasn't he behaved lately? The way I see it he posted a picture he thought of as news. Maybe he doesn't/didn't know that the head and "gear" of this minifig already existed in other sets. It is possible. Not everyone knows all the sets and parts of every theme. So I'd give him a break and wouldn't be too harsh with him everytime he posts something. To me it looks like he's trying. Just my 2 cents.

Phew, I thought I was alone: I'm doing the same thing for the same reason :$ I do "window shopping", though: I fill up my basket and then leave it at that. Just to have the "feeling" of spending tons of money on LEGO ;)

Why do LEGO toys have value to you? I grew up with it. Lots of people said it but it's true: it helps develop your creativity, your ability to find solutions to constructional problems, and it's fun. And with building techniques of the recent past (e.g. SNOT) you can now build almost anything. What makes LEGO brand construction toys worth your money? I still have LEGO from the late 70s. It looks used, of course, but i can still use it. In what way has the LEGO brand let you down? Movie licenses. Invent, don't do "reverse engineering". Too much juniorization. A bit is ok, but the Dump Truck is horrible. Color change. New colors are good but keep the old ones, for chrissake! I was most disappointed that the extra locomotive and train car for the 4511 came in a different gray than the 4511 itself. Sorry, but that was plain stupid. Disappearance of the smiling yellow minifig head. I liked it. Different face-expressions are ok but barely ulteriorly applicable. At least let them all smile. Why isn't Discovery Channel being continued? I like that theme and think it had the possibility to become LEGO's educational theme for all ages. Recently, how has the LEGO brand improved? Going back to their own designs and developing them (e.g. City, Trains). What would you like to see LEGO (re)introduce in the next three years? Develop the classic themes (City, Trains, Classic Castle/Space, Pirates), keep sets around a bit longer. Don't change "looks" every year, let sets match older ones. What does LEGO need to do to sell more products for less cost to them? Hmm... tough one, but wouldn't using existing bricks more instead of molding new ones every year do the trick? What reason(s) do you have for not buying new LEGO sets? The high prices in Europe (Why is that, anyways? Really!). No "additions packs" like minifigs (and if, too many for too high a price), not enough different bulk packs, not enough "small sets" (e.g. minifig plus car or the like). What would it take for you to spend more money on new LEGO products versus buying sets/parts on the second hand markets? Make sort of a pick-a-brick available at S@H (every piece in every color), minifig packs, more diversity in bulk packs, small sets that you could put together to a bigger one. What will it take for LEGO to remain the best construction toy for all ages and be a profitable company? Stick with the quality and take up some of your "old philosophy". See last paragraph. What are your home country, first name and age? Austria, Martin, 33 Is there anything you would like to say with this last question that you feel someone at LEGO should not go without reading? Don't overthrow your entire philosophy and risk ruining a good business for a market you can't win: LEGO is a construction toy, not a playing toy per se. You can play with it by *building* different things. There'll always be people who won't buy LEGO. So what? Kids need "change", they get bored with their toys pretty fast nowadays. If they can build more different things with just one box of LEGO, if themes are more expandable (e.g. more of City, not just Police and Fire), they will stick with it. LEGO is still known to everybody. Let it be known as what it was, has been, and will be: a quality construction system you can play with - for a loooooong time. And the "problem" with cheap imitators will solve itself...

Umm... welcome? ;) Don't worry, you won't forget this forum, it's too fun a place :-D

I like it, too. Actually, I really like it, especially the "tail-end-thing". I can't do anything with the guns, but with a little refurbishing here and there it could make a great rescue-chopper. Would even look better than the 7044... As for the theme itself... umm... not mine... :/

>:( >:( >:( On that I'm still working. My g/f doesn't really approve of it, though...

Here's one of his alter-egos :)

I like the(ir) accent ;) Although it seems the male population of any country somehow thinks no good of their fellow female citizens. Always more interested in foreigners...
-
Nah, since you're everywhere (omnipotency and stuff ;) ) it's ok...

It's ok that you have the signature since you're the holy survey-initiator (no sarcasm intended!). I just think others don't need it...
