  1. Umm... I don't think too many members should have that signature. Like this page of the thread looks pretty annoying so far with all those big red letters. Pointing out the survey is ok but this borders on stimulus satiation. Just my 2 cents...
  2. Oi from Austria - the country with cows instead of kangaroos, which all too often gets mixed up with Australia, especially by Americans ;)
  3. I just received an e-mail from LEGO Direct. They say that "4888 Ocean Odyssey" will be available at stores and S@H in Europe in late summer - and it'll be called "Sea Explorers" (as noted on the US S@H site). No date was given, though. But maybe it's also around July 24th like "4884 Wild Hunters". In case someone wanted to know ;)
  4. You can say whatever you want about vcvc but somehow he's an intriguing character. I find his ever changing avatars interesting. And I especially like his current one, that's how I pictured him all along... I wouldn't mind having him around - if he only stuck to the rules and forum topics (= LEGO) more!

    R2D2

Well, I don't know how this thread looked like before vcvc's editing but the image I'm seeing now (R2D2 trying to date a trash can) I think is funny. Especially the usually beeping R2D2 "saying" something like "oh, mom" :)
  6. I'm not in the States that often ;)
  7. oh... hehehe... you were talking animals :$ Well, since there's no tiger in the animal set I didn't check that one, I was too focused on the submarine set which doesn't have a release date in Europe (yet) ;)
  8. Where did you see that? All I see is "Sorry, item is not available in this country"... :/ ... or did you mail them? ;)
  9. That is weird. For Austria the reduced price says EUR 20.49 - which has been its price all along since it came out, in toy stores as well as on S@H. I've seen it in toy stores for 19.90 to 20.49 but it never said "on sale". Now the regular price on S@H says EUR 40.98, which can only be joke for 187 pieces with one being a huge specialized piece. Something's not right here... EDIT: I got a call(!) from LEGO Direct after writing an e-mail and asking about the pricing. They told me that I wasn't the first one, and that they actually had decided to sell it for the reduced price at stores from the get-go but hadn't informed anybody that the price was a reduced one. To avoid further confusion they'll remove the "50 % off" tag.
  10. Yes, I did. As I mentioned before it took me some hours ;) I can't provide a pic of the finished model, though, cos my camera is being repaired. But you can take a look at "my private gallery" where I shot a few pics while building... That thing sure is big!
  11. LOL I've seen these MOCs on brickshelf before, I think they're great. Thanks for digging them up :-D oh yes... blurry morning reflections in the mirror... I know those ;)
  12. Uh-oh... everything that starts out in Germany sooner or later will arrive in Austria... :'(
  13. Maybe he just doesn't know this board. From what I've read from him so far and from the interview I don't think he would consider this board not worthy. But it would be another source of information he has to follow...
  14. :oo You haven't heard about him?! Well, it seems you really haven't checked LUGNET in quite some time cos he's pretty "active" there ;) Jake is the Global Community Relations Specialist for the LEGO Group. He also works strongly with the AFOL (ALE) community. You can find him on LUGNET, legofan.org or read his blog at bricksonthebrain.com. There's an interview with him in the new BrickJournal (pages 16 and 17). He's a "good guy", listens, reads, answers (even if it takes some time) and his job sure isn't easy. I've never written to or had an online conversation with him but read many of his posts. And he likes trains :-D
  15. ... and a long build. Took me some hours (guess I'm rusty) ;) PS: The XXL Crane doesn't take that much time, by the way... PPS: No pic of the completed model (yet) cos my camera broke just as I wanted to photograph it :( But I guess everybody knows what it looks like anyways (one could almost consider another pic of a(n) SES spam ;) )
  16. My name's Martin. In German they say it means "The Warrior", in English they say it means "From Mars". Well... whatever... My favorite animal is the tiger and my favorite cartoon is "Calvin and Hobbes". So I just mixed both. Unfortunately C&H is very popular and thus either character name usually already taken on big message boards. My alternate nick then is "misterhobbes" which I use on brickshelf, for example. I put the "mister" in front of it because I like the title of the movie "They call me Mister Tibbs!" (the way he emphasizes on "mister" in the movie; the movie itself is not my favorite, although it's ok). Again a mix ;)
  17. @vcvc: You "sound" more and more like a disturbed boy desperately seeking attention. This is not the right way, though...
  18. Oh well, too bad. Thx :)
  19. Just a thought, but since I've been using RSS quite frequently lately and gotten used to this feature I was wondering if this forum(-software) supports RSS-feeds? I was thinking of a feed where you see all the current new posts, you click on one and get right to it. Or you could use it for new headlines, but those don't change that often. Anyways, I'd like it ;)
  20. Well, my brother doesn't fall into that age group, but he did buy his first LEGO set after 15+ years yesterday (a 3451) at a local TRU. There he saw the 4+ Pirate sets. This morning he asked me "Do you know the current Pirate sets? What are those strange figs???" And after I told him that the original Pirate theme was cancelled after 1997 all he said was " :/ "
  21. I know, another thread like this - but I won't let anybody guess. Instead I just annouce the arrival of my MIB 6286 Skulls Eye Schooner. Period. A few pics. Anyhoo, I'm sooooooo happy :oD
  22. Hmm... the more I think about it, the more I think I know the model you mean. The sizes sound familiar... Well, I'll have to do a shopping tour on Saturday anyways, I'll just have a look :)
  23. I was checking the IKEA website yesterday but didn't find anything to my liking. Didn't spend much time there, though, and usually they don't have everything on the website they have in the stores. But that was a thought that crossed my mind. Thx for confirming it :)
