  1. The standard Wedo2.0 battery box uses (2) AA batteries. The lithium ion rechargeable is an upgrade. Given the way the receiver slides off the battery box it could be swapped for a different 4 stud wide box that fits other battery configurations, such as (4) AA or (6) AAA. If Lego designed this system properly the all new components will be compatible across Boost, WeDo2.0, and the presumed updated Power Functions.
  2. Here is a good look at the battery box in question: Notice how the bottom cover could be swapped out for one 4 studs wide.
  3. Thanks for checking in.
  4. I expect the new Power Functions to be in line with the Boost system, ie: connectors, controls, maybe even additional functionality. I could be wrong but I don't take that PF placeholder image to be the actual format of a new controller.
  5. I'd love to have a more accurate (less lag, more speed control) power system that can be incorporated into existing trains. It'll be even better if they can use the current PF system through adapters if the connectors are different. If not it'll get $$ and I'm not sure I'd be willing to upgrade my entire existing collection. But if they add additional functions (such as sound, more lights, etc) or considerably reduce the size of components I might amend that statement.
  6. You're right. For some reason I was thinking it was before the release of the new January sets.
  7. Aren't the big toy trade shows coming up in a week or two? We've gotten the first looks at previous year's trains at those shows, right?
  8. I should have been more clear... Referred to the headlight sizing and slope of the fenders, etc...not quite accurate but close enough. Referred to the angled detail at the base of the front fascia and the grille itself. I think they can be made more accurate with some tweaking. Whether it is 5-6 pieces or 20-25...I'm not sure.
  9. Of course anyone is welcome to disagree but I think it is close enough within the confines of the Lego system. I think there are minor tweaks that can be done with the front to improve with minimal extra pieces. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
  10. What about the front don't you like? The decorative tile situation down the middle of the grille is really out of proportion and I'd rather the color be red. That could be an easy enough fix with some extra pieces.
  11. Initially I was about 20% on this after seeing the catalog shot. Yesterday's leaked teaser had me a lot more interested but the video seals it. I'm running out of room on my shelving...
  12. ^^ That's the one.
  13. The Lego Official Twitter account posted a photo of the completed model showing a nice side view. The photo appeared to be part of the ongoing tease campaign and was taken on location in London. It must have been posted prematurely as the tweet was deleted rather quickly. The photo showed a fairly detailed interior with seats on both levels and stairs at the rear. Had been waffling on it but the photo has me leaning more towards 'buy' than before.
  14. I love how they're 5 wide. All of them are great but the details on the BMW are fantastic. The use of the hinges to achieve the steep angle of the front fascia / grille. Really well done.
  15. I've thought about Bricklinking the necessary pieces but I think I'll wait to see what official release(s) come in 2016, if any.
  16. I normally do but we're only putting up one tree this year due to having a one-man 10 month old wrecking crew in the house. I might have to convince the boss. Typically it's just a city train with a circle or slightly oval run of track and a few of the loading detail pieces (gantry crane, etc). Nothing winter themed. I'd like it to be a steam set but I'll have to wait for another Lego release as I missed the Emerald.
  17. I added to the thread because I felt I had something relevant to add and not just a 'great mod' comment. I also felt making, in effect, a duplicate thread would be frowned upon. As for the long nose...I had to extend it to clear the railing studs but I suppose I could shift the cab forward by 1 stud to balance out the proportions. I might play around with it in LDD further before I order the remaining parts. Thanks for the feedback.
  18. I've been working on MODing the 60052 loco to add PF lights. I first mocked it up in LDD using two recessed headlights (stacked) but when I started the physical MOD I found there just wasn't enough room to fit the LED pieces. So i reduced to a single light. I'll use the second LED to light the cab. To facilitate a centered headlight (while still using the stock curved slopes w/ chevron stickers) I expanded the nose to 5 wide. To correct the proportions a bit I extended the over length by 2 studs (1 extra stud at each end) and built some steps into the bogie trucks similar to PaperBallPark's MOD. I'm still in the process of buying parts from Bricklink but below are the LDD renderings. I'll update once everthing is physically built.
  19. The Heavy Haul train 60098 is available from Toys R Us (USA) for $199.99 w/ free domestic shipping. It appears to be website only for now but it may be popping up in stores too. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=57106586
  20. You're welcome and be sure to post photos when you've settled on a color scheme.
  21. Can't go wrong with yellow (TTX) or blue (CSX) or nondescript dark blueish gray. Dark red would work too for BNSF. If you're going for accuracy...I'm not sure I've ever seen an orange intermodal car but I'm certainly no expert. If you stick with orange, pick a shade that is readily available for a reasonable price. Arctic Explorer Orange is Orange 4 >> http://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp
  22. Looks good. I like the clerestory windows above the apparatus bay doors. Could use a pedestrian entrance on the street side if space permits. Looking forward to seeing the roof development...parapet walls, etc.
  23. Seems to be a City set given it's numbering and inclusion with other City sets in early product lists.
  24. And it's a solution that is still applicable today. What's your point?
  25. I laughed out loud. Great build but now the stock Mini on my desk is feeling a bit self conscious. Haha. Awesome work.
