  1. 60214 Looks like a great engine aside from the swiveling rear half. Why on earth would it do that? Could be easily modified, i guess.
  2. two things: I've never seen a snow machine attached to the back of a groomer. I've seen avalanche guns, usually small howitzers, but they typically aren't on groomers either and I don't think that's what they're going for here. I'm very familiar with the types of fire apparatus we have here in the US. You listed the exact reasons why I feel the fire truck is unrealistic.
  3. I remember those 9v sets...I had the medical helicopter and enjoyed the functionality. In terms of realism, light bars have been getting smaller and more streamlined in recent years...this Lego light bar looks like it's straight out of the 70s. They could have used a piece similar to the roof slope and hidden a watch-type battery in there. Missed opportunity. This version works just fine for the Juniors line but IMO it's too tall for regular City vehicles.
  4. A couple of thoughts: Snow Groomer: looks nice except for the shooter. Might consider buy and leaving it off. Dock Side Fire: this looks like a Juniors set, which is fine but including it in the regular City line is a poor choice from a design perspective. Reminds me of the dark age design from the late 90s / early 2000s. Fire Brigade: Lights (see above), the tractor trailer fire truck design is pretty unrealistic, still. Lego has done this several times over the last 10 years and they never look right. I like the concept of the building / crane. Harvester: I agree that the set would be better served with a dump truck rather than the transporter however it's not all that unrealistic. I appears that the two outer harvester blades (gears) flip up towards the machine for transport, a realistic feature. Not sure if it was mentioned but this particular type is called a forage harvester.
  5. It looks like it's self contained but it's still too big proportionally for a 6-wide vehicle. It looks silly.
  6. I assume no Seasonal vignettes this year, similar to 40262, 40263 from last year? I like these to supplement the Winter Village.
  7. As you say, drones are becoming a thing...fire departments are using them for large incidents, wild fires...but I don't know of a sky police unit here in the US. The closest thing would be an air marshal but they are just undercover federal agents flying on commercial aircraft. Seems like a fantasy theme.
  8. @MKJoshA Did you find this in the typical Lego aisle or somewhere else in the store? I stopped by a store that, according to Brickseek, had it in stock but I couldn't find it. An employee I talked to was no help. Thanks for the review. With a few minor modifications I think this will make a nice addition to the Winter Village outdoor market scene.
  9. The truck is a bit lacking and I wish the doors opened outward but I like it overall. Will be adding this to our winter village for sure.
  10. I'm really surprised how well they've been able to keep this under wraps. Looking forward to the images this weekend.
  11. I agree with this 100%. I think they captured the curves / lines as well as can be expected but I would rather see this as an Aston Martin model instead of a 007 model if it meant the proportions were more accurate. Couple that with the price / piece count and I think this'll be the first Creator Expert vehicle I skip.
  12. I'm not sure what you were expecting. It looks 100% consistent with the Creator vehicle style: watered down lines and squared sides / doors. My issue with it are the proportions (it looks too long) but it's hard to tell with one sub-par quality image. I'll wait until the official images and details before I decide to buy or not.
  13. The inconsistency was clearly done on purpose.
  14. I dunno...probably...go ask whoever started the other one.
  15. Honestly it had a pretty short shelf life, initially. I believe it's original run was only 2 years or so. I was into the cartoon but never had any of the Voltron toys. I suspect had I had some connection with the toys themselves I'd be a lot more into this than I am. As I said before, the build techniques will ultimately what sells me on it. Time will tell. And, yes, nice avi. One of these days I'll buy a Freeny minifig.
  16. On one hand I loved Voltron as a kid and this thing looks like it has some fun building methods. On the other it's huge and I don't think I have much space to display it. I'm not too bothered by the price given it's 1. licensed / Ideas set, 2. took a fair amount of engineering to do it right, and 3. quite complex connections and articulation. I'll wait to see some reviews before I make a decision on this one.
  17. DB5 would be a day 1 buy. A more modern or current Aston is less appealing and doesn't really jive with the Creator car trend or classic vehicles.
  18. The photo I've seen has red tracks with (at least) 2 two-tone blue trains, each with three cars. The superstructure appears to be white with light-bluish gray connections.
  19. Imagine you're a kid and your mom / dad says 'Pick out a set'. On the shelf is a police set, a fire set, and a train locomotive. You're new to trains and you don't have track or any rolling stock. So you can ether choose the police / fire (or any other Great Vehicle for that matter) and build your City collection or you can pick the locomotive knowing you can't do anything with it until you get more sets. The kid is going to pick the police or fire or whatever other car / truck 9 out of 10 times.
  20. Lego has tried this approach of stand alone train car sets. The fact that it was discontinued and not revisited is evidence enough that it's not a money maker. Let the dream die and be happy we get sets every 3 years. Same with the pink unicorn dream of a shunting locomotive. It's not going to happen.
  21. I have two HE sets and powered both engines running off the same controller with some technic beams syncing both controller wheels. To be honest I don't recall how it performed as I got all the parts right before our move and I haven't had it out since. I tried it this way because I had two each of all the parts but no polarity switch.
  22. Really great stuff...thanks for posting this. I really like the white / gray versions, especially of the prototype.
  23. It is kind of odd. But 1. if it helps tie-in the rest of the City line and, in turn, sell more trains I'm ok with it because 2. the truck can probably be easily repurposed. And yeah, no helo.
  24. The box art is a placeholder. It's clearly marked as such. There is no indication that image realistically represents an actual piece. If they change the PF battery box design it's realistic to expect a new mold for the bottom cover. The battery box I linked HAS a built in receiver. There has been talk of a new PF system for a while now. I don't know why a new connection system would be so unexpected. Yes, that battery box is speculation but I think it makes a lot of sense given the direction they are going with PF. For trains this setup is advantageous with all the connections at the front (or back) of the box, instead of on top. It's a lot easier to build out and conceal connections on the ends than on top, ie 3677. We shall see...
