  1. You could build your own base out of normal bricks. Thats what most of us do. And it allows for many different sizes of cars and locos.
  2. Nice but 3 problems. I dont have that many headlight bricks in the needed color, the gaps are unappealing to me, and again, the panels are just too wide. My problem lies in the design limitations of Lego.
  3. Here's a crude drawing of my idea because I can't explain things well. And can someone explain how to add photos from Flickr into the post? It doesn't seem to work for me.
  4. I thank you for the link but sadly that isn't exactly what I'm going for. I'm going for thin wood paneling, not as thick as a 1x1. But thanks anyway. I'll maybe post some pictures later of my design so far and add a link here to them. My main problem currently is that the snot siding is 7 studs while the door is 6. The only way I've found so far to have everything line up correctly is to have the sides only 6 studs. I wish I could post a picture now to explain my problem, but I'm not at home and won't be for hours. All I can really say is my design would look great with Cale's trucks. Haha, speaking of, anyone know the link to the tutorial for those?
  5. Yeah that fruit growers car has normal studs up design, not what Im looking for. And honestly Ive been through mocpages before, it doesnt really help. Though I might take a look again. Well yes but thats a short European car and doesnt really help me directly. Yes it has a design for the side walls (which I actually thought of before and was going to test), but the end walls are still a problem, as well as the corners.
  6. Hello. So the lego freight car. Almost every moc Ive seen is of a modern steel boxcar. But... Ive been looking for designs for wooden boxcars and reefers and one of the main details is the wood panel sides. Now that is do-able with short European rolling stock, but American wooden cars are much longer. 40 feet long for those who dont know. My problem is I do not know how I could build a car body with SNOT work to represent the wood, without allowing it to be horribly fragile, and to allow the corners to maintain a prototypical look. Heres a picture to demonstrate the design. So yes. I would also like to keep the cars at a reasonable weight, yet have the right look. Does anyone have any idea on how to do it? Just writing this I have come up with some ideas, yet I dont know if they will actually work. Ill try 'em, though if anyone knows any mocs anywhere with what Im looking for, please tell me. On a side note, Its so hard to google "Lego wooden freight cars" without coming up with almost all pictures of wooden toy trains such as Thomas or Brio.
  7. Dont use nail polish remover on lego. It will damage the plastic.
  8. Are the remote and the receiver on the same channel? Is the remote within sight of the receiver? Are you using fresh batteries? Is the motor fully connected to the receiver?
  9. I think the locomotive looks out of scale. Maybe the engine compartment should stay 4 wide instead of 6, maybe 5 wide. With it being 6 wide, you lose the walkways on the sides of the loco.
  10. Wow, very nice. Now if only black Lego could be photographed. Haha. It must be even more impressive in person.
  11. Although I do not know much of modern MOW equipment, I have say this is nice.
  12. 1 and 3. 2 just looks like a nightmare with the rods.
  13. Is that windscreen part really that expensive? Yay I own an overpriced part! And very nice loco, though it is a bit tall. But its a great detail to have the fans move.
  14. Keep the stacks open, but I actually like both designs. The forward stack is more traditional but the mod boiler stack looks really cool. And you do have two boilers so it could possibly have the stack in the center. Though I do like the forward stack design and how it is very pronounced. I think the forward design is. Best. Just leave the stacks open. Don't put lids on em.
  15. It probably is the electrical pickups on the wheels. The 9v motor has sprung metal flanges and that probably was damaged somehow. I can't really say what to do but don't use it with another motor. You don't wanna risk burning out a working motor just for some extra pulling power in corners.
  16. The thing about Cuusoo is that although people support new part designs, Lego most likely won't accept those parts. Cuusoo is intended to showcase individual sets rather than new mould ideas.
  17. As a little suggestion, I would add a slightly more pronounced stack. With that, you can still keep the overall streamlined appearance. It would help better identify this as a steam locomotive.
  18. Where is the smokestack?
  19. Which design did you try?
  20. Not really what I envisioned but still looks nice.
  21. Cuusoo is a site for Lego users to try to get Lego to produce their models as an official set. But lately, it has really become a moc site, which it isnt for. It is to propose new and exciting sets to Lego and the lego community and see if each idea is worth full scale production.
  22. Will look much better. Cant wait to see.
