  1. Didn't plan on getting this...then I saw the VIP email and someone ended up ordering one! The deal in the Australian S@H isn't bad. Comes with free Shredder and Balloon Cart polybags! Plus I had Lego points to burn!
  2. While that is true, TLG are opening huge factories in China (employing 5000 staff) by 2017. This means that they lower manufacturing costs exponentially. It's pure bottom line. I love Lego but I'm getting increasingly disenchanted by their ever increasing prices and their need to top US$4 billion revenue. Guys. That's 4 BILLION DOLLARS.
  3. Great review and great looking figs. But TLG's greed means continually increasing of prices. Seems like the RRP for this is up more than 30% on previous CMF sets. Retail up $2.99 to $3.99. Sure, understand there are new mould for the figs but a) the Simpsons CMF surely isn't standalone (there's already the House and there should be more to come) and b) licensing fees. But with each new wave, prices goes up up up. Guess $4 billion revenue isn't enough. Mwahahahaha.
  4. RRP for this is in the region of US$30-35 and thanks to a combination of rarity (only available in Billund) and flippers, we'll have the pleasure of paying upwards of US$120 for a set. Hurrah. Anyone in Billund care to help pick up a set for me? I'll donate half the RRP to your charity of choice. :)
  5. Actually, the local customers are the ones responsible for depleting the stock. There are plenty of flippers who camped out and stocked up on these sets. It's out of stock at the hotel now with no further stock expected...
  6. Just bumping this topic as I'm still after a quality scan of the stockers for the 10026 set. I can share scans for the 10179 and 10019.
  7. I think it's still available on S@H but doesn't seem to ship outside the US. Darn. I'd be most happy to buy two masts off anyone who managest to pick up one of these. Drop me a line!
  8. USD754 for 2042 parts. Pretty pricey if that mast wasn't so rare. Bring on more to the market I say! I picked up a used 10179 locally but it's of course missing the mast rigging. And no way am I paying US$150 for one part.
  9. These were going on special in SIngapore (equivalent of US$20 or so) and I picked one up. Left it on the shelf for months. Was bored today so ended up opening it, pouring out the parts and decided to build a Minion from Despicable Me. I nearly had enough parts. Was pretty happy so ended up going up and picking up two more boxes of these. The Parrot MOC is great and so is the Lego sign (the L looks OK to me). In any case, I think the box doesn't have that many useful parts for serious MOCers but there is a freshness in trying to make the best MOC with imited types of bricks (mainly 1 to 2 wide). Nice review! Now go review set 10664: it has 1600 bricks (no plates but some round studs and slopes).
  10. Ok, I managed to pry the Iron Man off the back of the magnet. The minifig is now off the magnet backing but there's a large metal pin sticking out of the back (the pin is thicker than the ones embedded in the key chain minifigs). You'll see photos here (scroll to the end): https://plus.google....819954510255265 I basically peeled off the magnetic round backing. I tried to pull the minifig off but the pin is firmly embedded in the plastic housing. I ended using a pair of small scissors (not pictured) to cut the round backup towards the housing. I then cut around the round housing, thus freeing the figure from the backing. Then I used a pair of small scissors (not pictured) to cut as much plastic away before pulling the black plastic housing off with a pair of small pliers. What's left is the pin. I haven't pulled off the pin from the back. I wonder if I can use the soldering iron method to heat up the pin before pulling it out. Haven't got mine with me at the moment so can't try. I tried to use pliers to pull out the pin but without proper leverage, it's hard. You'll notice that the minifig has removable head, mask and accessories. NB: This is probably the cheapest way to get the Mark VII Iron Man that's exclusive to the Quinjet 6869 set. :-)
  11. I got to a point where I think I'll need to destroy the round background in order to access the metal pin on the back of the minifig. I haven't decided if I'll do that yet as I still have the option of reassembling it and using it as it was intended - a magnet. The pin that's attached to the back of the minifig is well and truly embedded into the round plastic back.
  12. I'm trying to take one apart. I peeled the magnet pad off the plastic backing and there's a pin that attached itself to the back round plastic bit. I'm going to see if I can pop it off the plastic. Will report back. Not a bad way to get some nice minifigs if we can remove it.
  13. That's way more than enough. 300dpi will be clear enough. 600dpi more than adequate. All one needs is good quality sticker/label paper.
  14. I'd like to see a thread with high-quality scans of EVERY Star Wars DSS here. That would be a great boon for many. Hosting shouldn't be a huge issue with cloud services such as Box and Dropbox. Even mediafire would be useful. The only question is whether Lego would kick up a stink...
  15. Thanks. My Rebel Blockade Runner is still NIB so I might pull it out to scan the DSS. Would be happy to share scans of sticker sheets. Now, 10026 is such a strange set: it goes for a crazy price per piece ratio MISB! Used sets aren't terrribly expensive but the stickers. Ugh. Mainly concerned with the plaque sticker. Anyway, if anyone can help with the scan, I'd be incredibly grateful and would be happy to make a donation to their charity of choice.
  16. Only found one and it has the same low resolution as the one on Bricker.ru : http://www.bricklink.com/PL/10026stk01.gif
  17. The stickers on the 10026 Naboo Starfighter set have cracked and peeled after years in storage. :-( A search on the internet shows only one very poor resolution image of the DSS: http://fr.bricker.ru/images/parts/10026stk01_0.jpg Does any kind soul have a decent scan of the sticker sheet they can share with me? I will take and post a photo of the decaying stickers on my set though personally, aside from the plaque, the rest of the stickers aren't really needed! The model looks better clean and sleek. On another note, would it be feasible for people to scan SW Lego sticker sheets and hold them somewhere just in case a fellow member needs it for some reason (cracked with age, cat pees over it, child eats it for breakfast etc)?
  18. The Town Square set craps all over my City Corner set. Ok, maybe not all over. But it sure has a nice range of vehicles, buildings and minifigs. Hope the RRP isn't overly crazy.
  19. And May the 4th has begun on S@H. B-Wing is HALF PRICE! $99.98 with free Han Solo exclusive minfig. Anyone care to get me a set and ship it to me in Singapore? Lol.
  20. If you waited a couple of days, it would have been 20% less! Sale on at TRU.
  21. Lego S@H Australia sales are tragic. I'll look at BL or even local stores like Shopforme. CMF10 spotted at Targets in ACT and parts of VIC.
  22. The Family House looks great but RRP is looking high. TRU lists it at $74.99 so expect to pay $69.90 in stores? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=21098926
  23. My local Vic 3031 shell told me they are selling 3 this week and 3 the next but only had the fugly truck on display. They're OK models but I'm not excited about them. It'll cost $48 for the set and I'd rather put the $$$ towards a decent set bought online or during the local Lego sales.
  24. Sorry for lack of clarity. This was mentioned earlier. Lego Shell Promo materials mention only the 6 car sets. There's a 7th pit crew set with 3 minifigs and accessories. In some countries, these could only be bought for a very limited period and in some other countries, you could only buy it if you bought all 6 sets.
  25. Can someone find out about the Pit Crew set at Coles Express?
