  1. BigW and Target in Melbourne are low on stock at the moment. TRU has the Series 9 minifigs ($4.99) and their exclusive Hoth Echo Base 7879. That's about it. Found...a Star Wars Gungan Sub at Target that was open, mini figures missing and ONE BAG was built. Stickers applied! WTF? I think someone bought it, took the minifigs, built bag one and returned it. A Superhero Spidey Set was also torn open and missing half the contents. In the next aisle was a kid clutching a toy. His mum was yelling at him, 'Put it back! You JUST had Christmas. You don't need another present,'. To which he replied, 'But it's cheap...'
  2. Read online (might have been Whirlpool) about someone receiving their sets in 2 weeks even when designated express. Someone else received their package flattened. Anyone else purchased from Mighty Ape before?
  3. Myers in Melbourne has lots of series 9 minifigs too.
  4. On the topic of David Jones...I went to the Melbourne City store and their Lego section was anaemic at best. And with the 20% off sale, they seem to have marked up the prices of quite a bit of their Lego. They had 8 boxes of the Pet Shop modular 10218 but the boxes were all bashed and the sticker price was $269. Wasn't the RRP $249? The prices on the online DJs store has real proper Aussie RRPs though. Myer in the city was also quite bare. Guess retailers are preparing for restocks soon.
  5. Popped by Kmart and some further offers noted: KMart are doing a clearance on some Lego at the moment. 4207 City Garage $99 7498 City Police Station $99 6869 Avengers Aerial Battle $99 SW Hoth Lego Game $35 The City sets are pretty close to US RRP and worth picking up if you're into City.
  6. Anyone know if David Jones in Melbourne have decent stock of any modulars? I have some Gift Cards to use and 20% off sounds like it might make it a Lego purchase!
  7. Great review. I saw a decent (for Australia) priced set and picked it up...then I read the review. The Lego designer video showcasing all the little features is worth watching too. It would fit well in a diorama with the other modulars. This HH can be set on a hill, just out of town. Very Addam's Family or Tim Burton-eque.
  8. Is it OK to post deals and sales for Aussie-based online stores? Ie: Shopforme etc? There are some OK deals on some of them. Saves the hassle of shipping from overseas or getting into your car and driving to the nearest brick and mortar store.
  9. Grab the set and out the fighter up on eBay. Sets without minifigs seem to go for OK prices. :-)
  10. Ordered a UCS Super Star Destroyer from Amazon.com at a decent price. Think it was $309 plus shipping. As is common, the packing was woeful. Mine was shipped by UPS (quick though) and came in a WAY oversized box with little padding. The shipped box was crushed and the actual box had scratches, dented corners, tears etc. My mate ordered one at the same time and his was shipped i-parcel in a smaller box. There was damage to the box but nothing like mine. I guess they're OK for small sets but the large ones always seem to come banged up. I've had this happen with heavy books and replacement books also came similarly poorly packed. LOL.
  11. New to the forums. Sudden AFOL convert out of my Dark Ages (grew up building old Castle sets) focusing on UCS Star Wars and soon modulars (anyone wanna trade their Fire Bridgades, Town Hall for my spare Grand Emporium and Pet Shop?) Anyway, if you're in Victoria, some Star Wars stuff on sale at some Kmarts. Your mileage may vary. Not sure if sale is outside of Victoria. 9496 Desert Skiff $35 9497 Republic Striker-class Starfighter $59 7915 Imperial V-Wing Starfighter $29 7956 Ewok Attack $39 9516 Jabba's Palace $129 The marked-down tags didn't put the RRP but from memory, I think the Skiff is $50 (can you say RIP OFF!?). So roughly 25% off.
  12. I find it near impossible to find Lego at thrift stores. Or perhaps they've been snaffled up by staff before it hits the shelves? Prior to Christmas, I saw the local TRU (Australia) do a 2 for $10 on the Star Wars Planet Set. I picked up two for fun and BOTH scanned for $3.50. They said it's a scan error but TRU would honor the price. I asked 'Can I get some more at this price?'. 'Sorry, no'. Still a nice find.
