  1. Imagine you're tasked with designing a LEGO video game. Not a kart racer or a sports game or a specifically themed action-adventure game or anything like that - just a game that needs to take LEGO, as a thing, and put it into video game form. LEGO hasn't really tried this very much, outside of the LEGO Creator series and LEGO Universe, and maybe even LEGO Loco. There are some non-LEGO games which are very clearly influenced by the toy, though, such as Blockland and Roblox. What do these games (official and unofficial) do right or wrong, and what would you like to see out of a future hypothetical game like this?
  2. If so, I'm gonna need a lot more money than I currently have.
  3. The TT games are fun, but I've lost interest in them as they've been milking the series for eight years now and it got stale for me several years back. I'm also not very interested in licensed stuff. LEGO City Undercover looks brilliant, but as it's a Wii U exclusive I doubt I'll be playing it any time soon. So, my favorite games... I'd say it's between Island Xtreme Stunts, LEGO Racers 2, and LEGO Island. LEGO Island wasn't as much of a game as it was a "toy with gaming features" as the developers called it - the fun mostly came from the hours and hours of animation and interactivity and even the music packed into the game, rather than the actual "gameplay" in the sense of action and strategy (of which there was very little). Island Xtreme Stunts went the other way, focusing on fun open world gameplay instead of the characters and interactivity, but hey, the gameplay is quite fun. As for LEGO Racers 2, again, I like the open world nature of it, the freedom to just run around and find things, and of course, blowing the other cars to bits with various weapons. The boss races were awesome, especially racing against Riegel's mech.
  4. http://www.mirror.co...le-real-2327168 Hah, quite a funny coincidence.
  5. Love it! The rocks look especially good, I like how they're so nicely integrated with the building.
  6. I got the 2004 Maersk ship and loved it, though the stickers have chipped away now. Love this model, considering buying it.
  7. I'm not much of a Ninjago fan but I love these minifigures.
  8. I'd say it works well - the City boss racer in LEGO Stunt Rally, Radium, was expelled from the Rock Raiders program for performing tests on other crew members involving radiation.
  9. First trailer:
  10. My goodness, TalonCard... That's gotta be the best post I've seen on Eurobricks. So much information packed into it. Great work!
  11. The developers said that a minifigure series is being made to launch with the game, and it will feature characters specifically designed for the game. Who wants to bet that some of the new enemies and minifigures seen in the trailer are gonna be in this series?

  13. I got the message while going to the site a while back, and was quite confused as the site had never given me problems before. Oddly, it said that the .jpg images of all things were malware, which seemed really weird to me. So I continued onto the site... Didn't have a single issue, heck, I even downloaded and checked the jpg images it was flagging and they came out clean. False alarm, people, the site's fine, and free of malware - and also has a lot of cool stuff other sites don't, so it's your loss if you're choosing not to use it. No problems here.
  14. Well, that ending was abrupt... I didn't actually see the twist coming, but perhaps I should have been paying a bit more attention. Thanks for the translation!
  15. There's also talk of stuff going on at PAX.
  16. It was launched October of 2010 and shut down in January of 2012. It had been in development since 2006.
  17. I've been playing LEGO Rock Band recently. There's two Pirates themed venues in the game - The Jolly Rocker, where you perform on a ship with the crowd on a tiny island beside it, and The Parrot n' Pegleg, a tavern mentioned to be in "Pirate Cove" and made entirely out of pieces of shipwrecks. I haven't played through the entire thing yet, so there's a possibility that there might be more pirates in the game than this, but here's who I've unlocked so far: As you can see, they took some liberties with the character names and designs. The Island Chief is actually Achu from Adventurers, who is often lumped together with the Islanders anyway (for example, in LEGO Island 2, the Dino Park area of Adventurers Island had Achu as the leader of a tribe of Islanders who were camped there). The Islanders characters were actually unlocked in two different venues, the Bone Cave and Volcanic Rock, both of which have a sort of dinosaur prehistoric theme to them. There are also two pirates from LEGO Universe in the game, Hael Storm and Captain Jack Knife. I haven't unlocked Hael Storm yet, but I know he's in the game: http://legosforkids....7323/hael-storm As for Captain Jack Knife... ... Well, just read this: http://legouniverse....tain_Jack_Knife There's a glitch in the game that makes him not appear in the Rock Shop, meaning you can't buy him or play as him or even see him outside of the rewards screen. Oh, and there's another glitch in the game involving Mr Patches - when he's selected in Freeplay mode, or he's automatically loaded by the game in a special gig where all your characters are automatically dressed as pirates, he appears with Peg Leg's head instead of his own. A tad weird, but nothing major. If I unlock any more pirates, I'll post them here. I'm working on getting images of all the characters in the game, but I thought I'd post these here now, so you don't have to wait.
  18. Right now. http://legouniversenews.forummotion.com/t1189-not-in-north-america-and-do-you-want-to-play-open-beta-check-here Yeah, somebody figured out how to log into the North American servers even when you're not in North America.
  19. Thank you so much, Runamuck! Very cool to see a more detailed view of the castle world like this. Cerlin is an alternate name for Majisto it seems. Also, yay, finally some proper Wolfpack characters! "The Great Wolf" came off as slightly cheesy at first, but hey, this is LEGO, we've got characters with names like Pepper Roni and Dr. Science. So, unless I misunderstood something (which is fairly likely as I did get confused at some points of the story at didn't totally get what had happened until Dickens summarized it at the end), the Dragon Masters guard the treasure of King Richard/The Royal Knights? Certainly a different take on the story than the LEGO Mania Magazines, which showed Majisto as a mischievous character at odds with King Richard.
  20. Oh wow, awesome! Thank you! Looking forward to the English translation!
  21. Thanks for the translation! Interesting to see the Imperial Armada type stuff involved, also rather surprised at Broadside's plans in this one. Quite brutal, even compared his actions in previous stories. Thanks again!
  22. EDIT: Somehow my post got broken. Fixing it now... All the formatting got removed. Ok, fixed now. Phew! The Ninja theme is split into two parts; the 1998 sets involved the Samurai (blue) and Robber (red) factions, with the Samurai being led by Shogun Gi-Dan and the grey ninja Ito, and the Robbers being led by Chief Kendo and the black ninja Bonsai. Here's the LEGO Mania magazine where they were introduced. LEGO Adventures magazine did things a little differently, though, with multiple grey and black ninja and a different minifigure as the leader of the Robbers. Either way, the 1999 sets almost completely did away with the previously introduced Samurai and Robber factions, and only involved one new faction as said earlier, without much conflict shown in the sets. The new LEGO Mania magazine story, though, said something completely different, though it still didn't involve the 1998 story. (Heh, funny, we're discussing Ninja in a Pirates topic...) Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of this site yet or not, but it's very useful, lots of great scans (though sometimes the links are broken and it can take a bit of guesswork to view things): http://www.miniland....e lezen eng.htm Some other useful links, several are more or less on the same subject but I though I'd link to them anyway: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=498930 http://www.brickshel...llery.cgi?m=tkf http://www.bzpower.c...?showtopic=2585 http://www.rockraide...e-translations/ http://www.rockraide...ntures-issue-6/ http://www.bzpower.c...?showtopic=5947 (downloads for these are down now but the people and websites involved are still active, I'll ask around a bit and see where they're at) http://biomediaproject.com/ Edit - Tazakk just sent me this link, turns out the downloads are still online but not linked to: http://biomediaproject.com/bmp/files/LEGO/gfx/LegoManiaMagazine/ Thanks for the scans! The Space comic folder isn't public yet, but I'll check back on it later. Ah, here we go. The final story. Though I think I'll wait for your own translation, instead of relying on Google Translate.
  23. Rock Raiders was kicked off by LEGO but developed hand in hand with Data Design Interactive, who was doing the video game. There's actually several places in the game (and even more so in the early game trailers) where you can see prototype versions of the real LEGO sets, as that's all the game designers had to work with at the time. Same story with LEGO Stunt Rally and the 2000 Race theme.
  24. Thanks for the link! Interesting, looks like mostly new characters in here. What I find somewhat strange is that the Black Falcons and Black Knights seemed to be depicted as enemies in the sets themselves, while the official story said otherwise... The later half of the Ninja theme had a similar quirk, where the sets like this one showed the ninja princess and the red ninja under her command as allies with the emperor (even ninja equipment like these things had the emperor's flag attached), but the story specified in magazines and the like said that the ninja were fighting against the corrupt emperor, who had stolen from everybody under his rule. I've seen part of a Disney Adventures Space comic involving Blacktron II, but haven't seen any others. Are there any scans available to read? And I'd very much like to hear the name translations, especially the name of wherever all this takes place.
  25. This site has some good info and pictures: http://boardgamegeek...e-cruisers-game I've always liked the Time Twister character in it. I wish I could find one in my cellar.
