Maybe LEGO will releases one (or more) "exclusive" set(s) by March? (That could become an additional small wave between the winter and summer wave.) From my point of view would "The Betrayal of Isengard" make sense since the biggest set of the Hobbit wave is not very big and the price for the Orthanc tower could be very heavy.

I am excited about any kind of LotR sets which will be released. Hopefully there will be changes at the scope of the new wave. I would suggest a mix of sets which we could buy 'one time' and which we could buy `'several times'. --> My thougts regarding to the first and the second wave are follows. There are only sets where are main characters included. But what are you doing if you want to build a complete army? I like the scope of army building sets by the Star Wars waves. Those waves provides usually 4x or 5x sets with main characters and 2x sets without main characters (they are usually battle pack sets). Those small battle pack sets including 4x minifigures, some bricks and different kind of action features are perfect. Why not the same procedure for LotR? I think that LotR an army building theme is. And therefore are battle packs urgently required.

I hope they would make a new theme... Why allways Castle?
-
Damn... I have enough Castle stuff. Why it could not be a new theme. A roman or greece theme?
-
I just wondering why LEGO doesn't release a big LotR exclusive set like a Star Wars UCS set between the summer and the winter wave? I mean... it would come before Christmas and many of the older ones (which are thrilled by LotR, and there are many of them) would buy that LEGO set. And Middle-eart offers many lovely places. ??

....it would already suffice if they make one battle pack with some soldiers from different armies. Yep, that would make me happy!

I keep in my mind. I would like to see regarding to the Lord of the Rings follow warriors: Rohan 1. Guard battalion 2. Rohan rider Gondor 3. 2.Age; Last Alliance 4. 3.Age; War of the Ring 5. 3.Age; Guard of the Fountain Court 6. 3.Age; Ranger of Ithilien Elves 7. Noldor-elf soldier (2.Age; Last Alliance) 8. Lothlorien-elf soldier (3.Age; Battle of Helm's Deep) 9. Lothlorien-elf (3.Age; Lothlorien guard) Orcs 10. Isengard wargrider, characteristics: dark brown leather suit, hauberk 11. Morgul orc, characteristics: dark blue skin, muscular 12. Morannon orc, characteristics: complete suit of armour, dark grey skin Another bad guys 13. Corsair of Umbar, characteristics: dirty seamen 14. Easterling 15. Haradrim 16. Oathbreaker (soldier from the Army of the dead) And when I think about the Hobbit line... yes, there are min. also many soldiers possible. For example I am excited about one of the flashbacks when the elder Orc King Azog (actor is Manu Bennett) meets Thorin's grandfather Thror (actor is Jeffrey Thomas) at Khazad-dum. After Thror's death Thrain (Thorin's father, actor is Mike Mizrahi) swore dire revenge and it began the war between the dwarves and the orcs. ....damn, one battle pack about the dwarves would be more than all too "must have"... But unfortunately he was captured by Fimbul (actor is Stephen Ure) and imprisoned in Dol Guldur. Gandalf found him while on a mission to Dol Guldur to discover the identity of "The Necromancer" (actor is Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch), a mysterious Dark Lord who was later revealed to be Sauron. Moments away from death, Thrain gave him the old map and the key to the Erebor. Gandalf promised to deliver it to Thrain's son, but Thrain, who was delirious with pain, had forgotten his name, so Gandalf did not expect to be able to fulfil this promise. Thrain died soon afterwards....

Those ents are perfect! They needs only some prints for the eyes, maybe beards and branches. (LEGO could really make creator ents, like a kind of battle pack, with some small different variations...) Do you know what or who confirms those sets? -790xx The Betrayal of Isengard -790xx Treebeard Encounter -790xx Bridge of Khazad Dum

Maybe they will produce some movies about the old republic??
-
If Disney will be the producer, maybe the heros will singing when they go into the battle?
-
I hope for suitable helmets for the elf warriors. And battle packs! Just real classic battle packs! -like Star Wars battle packs. (4x minifigures, some bricks and no main characters!) Come on LEGO! You can manage it!
-
Yes, I like the first Hobbit line. Those minifigures are all very beauty created. (Especially the Goblin King ) Do you have any news about the german prices?
-
The new LEGO elves needs new helmets! -Helmets with two attached elf ears. What do you think? When we will receive the first Battle Packs? (I hope for elven battle packs)

I just wondering why LEGO does not provide some small battle pack sets? If I remember referring to the "old classic" castle line from 1984 to 1990, there were listet many small sets which I would buy multiple times. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit are Army Building Themes! Those themes does need many army building sets like the old classic castle battle sets. Why LEGO does not provide more sets, which we would buy multiple times? For example some creator sets including some usefull soldiers (which we would need multiple times). Another point is, why are some characters only included in books, video games, ect. ?? Sorry, but if I see things like that, then I don't want to LEGO. And where are the big exclusive sets? Kindly note, that this theme is closer to "an adult theme". The adults were really happy if they would see a big Orthanc Tower or a beauty Rivendell set. And regarding to the Elves. Where are they? Where are the "nice to have" elf armies? And regarding to the Hobbit civilians. Where - are - they?? What is about Hobbiton? Yoda would say: "Much to do, you still have"
-
Why LEGO, why? What's up? Why do you not release classic ?The people would become crazy, if they could buy sets like those! LEGO, you have all possibilities to make LotR sets like your STAR WARS BATTLE PACKS. Here are the biggest battles! Here are so many different armies! Damn LEGO, why do you obviously want to miss the chance! You have created Helm's Deep. That is wonderful, but we need *small* Battle Packs or Impulse Sets for the Riders of Rohan and the Galadhrim Warriors. LEGO, why is Eomer included in Helm's Deep expansion set and not with the other main characters in the big Helm's Deep set? Who need 10x Eomers? Why is no Galadhrim Warrior in that Helm's Deep expansion set? The idea of that wall set was very good, but you have missed to give us a reason to buy this set several times. Now are your costumers shopping at bricklink and do not buy your set direct! LEGO, why are classic Battle Packs or Impulse Sets not listed at the first and second LotR/Hobbit wave? Why do you release only this one Elrond figure just for PS3 games? LEGO, I do not understand your target!?

Regarding to the Last Alliance has LEGO to develop a real . And not 1x single Elrond minifig. only for Play Station Games. Why they do not create a real LEGO Set including Sauron, Elendil.... What's up?
-
...oh my God, I want (I would) to buy this set! Immediately! The size of your Minas Tirith is perfect. The colors and the design are also perfect! What do you think? How many bricks are in this set included? How expensive would this set be?

MOVIE SPOILER: I am looking very much forward to the announcement 3rd Hobbit movie. Peter Jackson includes a lot of stuff from the "Unfinished Tales" into the movies. And he wants with that material to create a "connection" between The Hobbit tale and LotR. Woha, but what from that material could LEGO "transform" into LEGO sets? =============== Before The Hobbit =============== An awful lot of this backstory is already confirmed to be in, judging by casting announcements and other official released info. It will be told in flashback scenes. - Looking for Mithril, The Dwarves delve too greedily and too deep: Balrog appears in Moria and kicks out all the Dwarves. Moria then becomes populated with Sauron's creatures. Hmmm, why not? I would love to see LEGO Draves warriors from Moria against some orcs. Here is also a nice opportunity to include the Balrog. - The Moria refugee Dwarves move North and found new kingdoms there: -- Thrain I and his people found the Dwarf kingdom of Erebor under the Lonely Mountain. He discovers The Arkenstone there. -- Thorin I and his people move to the Grey Mountains. This region is swarming with Dragons of various types (e.g. Cold Drakes), and the dragons make war on the Dwarves. The Dwarves abandon the Grey Mountains. I like the former dragons from the LEGO Vikings line. Here is a lot of stuff for army building sets and other playable battle sets with real LEGO Dwarf warriors with emblems on shields or flags. (For example a Battle Pack with Dwarf soldiers of the Grey Mountains) - The Grey Mountain refugees either move to the Iron Hills, or go to Erebor. - Erebor subsequently prospers and Smaug The Golden hears of this and decides he wants a piece of it - Smaug comes to Erebor and kicks the Dwarves out, and destroys the city of Dale for good measure. - The Dwarven King Thror passes the ring of Durin's line - one of Sauron's Seven Rings that were gifted to the Dwarves - to his son Thrain II. - Thror, possibly half-crazed from the ring's influence visits Moria, only to be sadistically killed by the resident orcs there. The Dwarves hear of this and all hell breaks loose, leading to... - The War of the Dwarves and Orcs, culminating in the Battle of Azanulbizar at Moria, which involves and sets up a lot of the major players in The Hobbit, including the named Orc enemies. Thorin II (Thorin Oakenshield) comes of age here in battle at Nanduhirion and gains his surname. LEGO could for example create for the Battle of Azanulbizar follow minifigures: - King Thror with golden armor, golden ax, dark blue targe with moria emblem, golden helmet with dark blue hackle - Orc-king Azog with chrome black armor, spiked mace and black ax, chrome black helmet (crown moulded) - Náin with dark grey armor and dark grey helmet with black hackle - Frerin with bronze armor, bronze helmet (two wings moulded) and lance with banner of Durin - Dáin II Ironfoot with bronze armor (gravure: lettering of Durin), bronze helmet (two dragon tooths), axe and horn - Thorin II Oakenshield with dark grey armor (gravure: lettering of Durin), dark grey helmet with dark blue hackle, - Corruption of Thrain II by the ring of Durin's line -(note, not the One Ring) and his capture and imprisonment in Sauron's fortress of Dol Guldur. Sauron takes back the ring of Durin's line. - Gandalf sneaks into Dol Guldur and discovers Sauron is there. He finds a really messed up Thrain II and recieves the Key of Erebor. Thrain dies. Sauron's Fortress of Dol Guldur is a must have! Mayby in a size of Helm's Deep with lesser walls but more caves and towers - First White Council meeting. (This consists of the Wizards, and some uber-Elves like Galadriel and Glorfindel). They talk about the "Sauron problem", but Saruman overrules the decision to attack Dol Guldur. (Saruman secretly wants the One Ring himself and goes searching for it). - Gandalf randomly bumps into Thorin in the pub (in Bree), they get talking and decide it's in both of their interests to start a quest to deal with Smaug; Thorin wants his gold back, Gandalf wants Smaug dead. LEGO could put these minifigures in a conformable Rivendell set. =============== During The Hobbit =============== This is absolutely confirmed to be in. - Second White Council meeting. Saruman agrees to attack Dol Guldur this time (because he thinks it will distract Sauron from searching for the One Ring). - Sauron's fortress of Dol Guldur is attacked by the White Council - Sauron is defeated and buggers off (to Mordor, as it happens). - After the Battle of Five Armies, Bard rebuilds Dale and becomes king. I would like to see a small LEGO set (Gandalf's carriage size) where Bard is crowned to be a king. =============== After The Hobbit (but before LotR) =============== After this point we start moving into "Bridge Film" territory. This might only be seen in the film if we end up with a post-Shire sequence, which is very possible. How long it will be though, is anyone's guess. - Gollum starts searching for the One Ring. Is captured and tortured in Mordor. - Sauron openly declares himself; rebuilds Barad-Dur. - Saruman moves into Isengard and fortifies it, but gets ensnared and corrupted by Sauron when he looks into the Orthanc-stone. - Nazgul are sent to reclaim Dol Guldur. It is now commanded by Khamûl the Black Easterling. - Frodo is born. His parents are killed in a freak boating accident and Bilbo adopts him. - Balin starts a quest with a bunch of Dwarves to retake Moria. (one reason for the quest is that Balin thinks the ring of Durin's line ended up here when Thror died at Azanulbizar) The quest fails and they all die in Moria (surprise). I would love to see the Orthanc-stone in lighting style. =============== During LotR ====================================== War breaks out all over the Northern Kingdoms. It's possible that Khamûl the Easterling would be commanding the Enemy forces from Dol Guldur. This is unlikely to be seen in the film because it takes place right in the thick of The War of the Ring (overlapping with RotK). - Lorien is attacked by the Enemy. - Dale and Erebor are attacked by the Enemy. - Thranduil's Realm (Mirkwood) is attacked by the Enemy. - The good guys win and Dol Guldur is completely blown the gently caress up by Galadriel's magic. And here we have again a lot of possibilities for Battle Packs and Army Building Sets. Yep, LEGO has with this theme more stuff than 20 waves.... But I am also excided of the upcoming sets based of the Hobbit tale.

Hi, I think it is a little crazy what possibilities offers LotR/Hobbit to LEGO. Peter Jackson: ... We know creatively how compelling and engaging the story can be and—lastly, and most importantly—we know how much of the tale of Bilbo Baggins, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur would remain untold if we did not fully realize this complex and wonderful adventure. I’m delighted that New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. are equally enthusiastic about bringing fans this expansive tale across three films. ... Hello? The Battle of Dol Guldur! Oh-man, where are the LEGO elves? The armies of Lothlorien (Battle of Dol-Guldur), Mirkwood (Battle of the Five Armies) and Lindon (Battle of Dagorlard) Do you have got any news about this Elrond minifigure: LEGO could for that battle releases sets like these: Number 1: "Last Alliance Battle Pack" including Gondor soldiers and Noldor elves Number 2: "Isildur's Bane" including Sauron, Elrond, Isildur, Gil-galad, Elendil Damn, this theme can become really amazing!
-
Yes, I think also. Thranduil's stronghold is much more useful for playable options. That set would gives a wonderful place for Tauriel and other elf minifugures. -> From my point of view is that set realistic, since we still have a lot of orcs but just two elves (Legolas and Haldir). Yepp, my thought also. I think Rivendell will come between the waves in a kind "exclusive version" (for example like the 'Diagon Alley'). The Orthanc tower looks very promising! I assume that are nearly 3.000 bricks. That is amazing!

The hype about The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings will be immense ! LEGO should create a complete series of Battle Packs. Serious! Real army building sets and Battle Packs without main characters. Maybe a sergeant or orc clan chief with different faces... ...just more sets like Uruk-hai Army and the Orc Forge. Only with two changes: -One set is in a smaller size (in a real Battle Pack size) like the Star Wars Battle Packs -One set is in a bigger size like Uruk-hai Army or the Orc Forge -And both sets does not include any main characters. In every wave would be included two different set styles for huge armies at home! The possibilities are endless. AND why not the bigger one in Creator in a kind of Uruk-hai Army size ? Take the wall. You could create with those bricks a tower also. ...hmmm, and what could you create if you buy this set twice? Yay, a city gate! Cool, I would by that "one" set at first 4x times: 2x times for the city gate and two times for two towers. I would put those towers at the left and at the right side of the city gate. ...hmmm, I would buy that "one" set another 4x times for the city wall (two wall parts at each side). And what about the smaller sized Battle Pack (usually Star Wars Battle Pack size)? Cool, that set includes a small catapult. That is useful for the towers. There do need always catapults. And what happens if I buy that "one" Battle Pack twice? Yay, with those bricks I can create a Creator battering ram or a bigger Creator catapult. Agreed. I buy that "one" Battle Pack 8x times: -Twice for one Creator battering ram -Twice for two defender catapults on the towers -4x times for two bigger siege catapults Yay, in summery, that are for me 8x Creator wall sets (for city gate, 4x city wall and two towers) and 8x Creator Battle Packs (the catapult set). I want to go shopping... Ohhh holy sh... The shelves are empty. Another guys had the same idea. And LEGO. You have developed only two sets....
-
COOL! That sounds good! I want moccing a big scene about the "Battle of Dargolard"! Including Isildur, Elendil and Sauron. May I ask if LEGO is willing to produce the Noldor King Gil-galad? Yes, I want them all. THEM ALL(!)^^ I'll be damned, I really hope for a battle pack of the Last Alliance: -with 2.Age-Gondor soldiers -and 2.Age-Noldor soldiers) I want to create a fascinating battle where Sauron is loosing his ring! LEGO PPLLLLEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE!!!
-
The Army of the Dead is possible! Print the dead soldiers as per the shiny mummy..... .....and add some prints on the arms according to Boba Fett! Ohhh yess! Give this shiny horse a suitable harness (maybe also shiny printed) and that army will become the famous LEGO army of all time! ...so, and now serious. Why not? Maybe are those prints very expensive, but kindly note, that the run to those LEGO sets will become very big, if those shiny soldiers are included.

I have one question: Is LEGO able to provide Battle Packs for LotR? Proper Battle Packs without characters like Jack Sparrow? What do you think ??
