What do you think about impulse sets for LotR/Hobbit? I think impulse sets for that theme were very very popular because these would be an very good addition for the other sets. Yes, you're right if you say that LEGO put the collectable main characters into bigger sets because the company want to sell a lot of bricks. But if we talking about all other minifigures (mainly warriors), than I would say that these minifigures would find a wonderful place in these impulse sets. I do not know one other theme wehre we see so huge battles and armies. And with a lot of impulse sets you could fill up your armies. I think about impulse sets in exact that styles: 1.Example: LEGO Castle 5615 We get for the first wave an Mines of Moria set with 2x Moria Goblins. For that set could LEGO develop a Moria Goblin impulse set. So would our heros at Balin's tomb fight against some more goblins. Also for Lothlorien elfs. At the Battle of Helm's Deep I see an Haldir minifigure (if my eyes not lies). But where is his army? Here could LEGO develop a another impulse set. An Lothlorien elf impulse set with similar accessories. 2.Example: LEGO Castle 5615 For this example 2x different helmets, a bit armor, some weapons and some bricks. Perfect! This are my thoughts about impulse sets for LotR/Hobbit (here for the 1.wave). But what are you thinking? Would you like these impuls sets? Would LEGO like these impulse sets? Are LotR/Hobbit impulse sets a bad business? -Or more a good business?

Concerning main characters alike the shiny Witchking could you're right, but concerning normal warriors, I think is an impulse series realistic. For example like this: Ok, the last image with the big drum was unspectacular, but with helmet and weapons is the Moria Goblin for kids good enough (my thought). Question: Is it for LEGO possible to mold a shiny sword for Frodo's sword Sting? It could be that he will to meet some orcs in some child's rooms. And for that case he must be aware!
-
Or LEGO do produces these "Collectible Minifigure Series" alike impulse sets. And if I think serious about this, than I've to say that this idea really fantastic is! Here would finding all the missing characters like the Witchking (white shiny demon style for the Weather top)/ or "maybe" Haldir (armor style for Helm's Deep) the right place. Also you can fill up your armies with special orcs (for example warg riders), elfs, dwarf warriors or soldiers. -> for the first wave for example: Moria Goblin (addition for Mines of Moria) impulse set and Lothlorien Elf (addition for Helm's Deep) impulse set. But why call this impulse series "Collectible Minifigure Series"? -Of to live up to one's name needs those minifigures special prints: The arms and legs must be printed like this one: And now is these "Collectible Minifigure Series" really an special minifigure series. The Moria Goblin could look like those two. He get for example bow and arrow, an drum, targe and sword. http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/lord-of-the-rings-lego-image-battle-of-helms-deep.jpg And here is Haldir: If you look left over the wall you see in dark colors an elf. This elf has the same colors like Haldir. Yes, I would say that IS Haldir.

I think the idea for an separate minifigures series very well. I think that series could look like an limited impuls-set eddition. If every minifigure is special printed will everybody buy these impuls sets. And the list for possible characters is very long. EDIT: And the list for possible armys is also very long.

One person you have forgotten: LotR without Sauron is like Star Wars without Darth Vader. Back to the Weather top theme: Yes, maybe you are right, but for the weather-top is the time for the Witchking in demon style is now (here another nice pictue ) I still hope LEGO will additional give this set that character. For Frodo's face I've found an good template here: I think Frodo will have two faces (hurt/classic). Thanks for the trailer-link. I believe this LEGO theme will sell very very well. What do you think which Hobbit sets we will see? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: Damn, you will find the pictures here: http://ringtrilogy.tripod.com/lotr/index.html
-
Ok, to be honest... ...I miss that guy really! I hope LEGO change one black Nazgul against this guy -then that guy is the Witchking of Angmar!
-
The difference between Orcs and Moria Goblins is huge: See it for yourself! Here we see Moria Goblins Here we see Mordor Orcs I don't believe that LEGO put Mordor Orcs into that Mines of Moria set.
-
Shelob's attack Here I've found a very good picture where we can see Frodo's spiderweb outfit. That outfit could be the perfect outfit for this set.
-
Weahtertop: That set looks nice and those minifigures are nice, but to be honest -what happens in that scene? Frodo has been stung by an Morgul-blade! I think that set needs really a white shiny Nazgul minifigure with an Morgul-blade. And that minifigure would look very very amazing. And to be honest -a in the dark shinig Nazgul would to increase the value for this set massive! You will love those minifigure. Really!
-
I think a white ghost Nazgul would be a special addition for this set. :) Why should this figure not be playable?
-
At the Battle of Helm's Deep fighting 10.000 Uruk's. -> 1x Battle Pack incloses 4x Uruk's. 10.000/4 = 2.500 Battle Packs If you want to build this battle real -than you have to buy 2.500x Battle Packs. EDIT: And you get 5.000 soldiers

In the past years we saw many LotR videogames. The option for an longer license is open. I think it would be wise to create LEGO-sets based of present/future videogames. Here my feedback for the fist pics: (At first, every set needs his own flair.) The weathertop: What was the most impressive thing in this scene? -Right! -The "white" ringwraith with theirs crows. Those minifigures in shiny style would be awesome. Please think twice! The scenery is ok, but something is missing. Yepp, some statues. -> please to work overtime for those possible wonderful minifigures. Gandalf's chart: Yep, this chart is sweet. Here you get greenlight. Frodo has the right outfit and the chart the right colors. Shelob's attack: The spider looks very good! Frodo is in this scene stabbed and unconscious bound in a white spiderweb. He needs a outfit with spiderwebs and a unconsiscious face. Think about Sting (frodo's sword). This sword shines also. Sam needs an in the dark shiny sword (same material like the shiny LEGO Ghost). [if now Galadriel's phial could glow (maybe with an LED function) than would this set be epic. But maybe is the idea too over the top.] -> it is to work overtime for the shiny sword and for Frodo's spiderweb outfit. Uruk Hai Army: That is a very good battle pack for Helms Deep! Here you get greenlight. I believe the minifigures will be awesome. But what about 1x Lothlorien elf minifigure for this set? Think about it?! Moria: Please Attention! Moria Goblins are smaller as orcs. These creatures needs legs like dwarfs and hobbits. An nice idea for the Cavetroll: Think about an sholder for Legolas stand where he shot with bow and arrow against his head. Also it would be wise to put Merry into this set. He sits also on his sholder and stings the troll with an knife. ->Please to revise the sholder and give the Moria Goblins short legs. Helms Deep: Wonderful Playset. Very good work! Really! Next idea: What about the exploding wall? Is it possible to create this function over the small tunnel? Next idea: Think about Haldir (Lothlorien commander). This is the only scene where we see him in golden armor. Wow, I think it was really very very clever to start with simple-going buildings. Rivendell and co will be very difficult. I feel with you. I think you have now some time to mold new elements for the difficult buildings and can to acquire experience with these new bricks. I like the collection for the first wave. We will see many characters and soldiers. But think about the collector factor. In every set needs every minifigure his own flair. Every thing needs his own flair than all lego sets would be sold. "Collectible Minifigures": I think you can those special minifigures compare with Star Wars. For example could Sauron look like the special chrome Darth Vader. Other minifigures could be special printed. Maybe will LEGO produce for licenses a separate "Minifigure Series"? I've no idea, but it sounds very interesting. EDIT: Or LEGO will produce special impulse sets. "9476 The Orc Forge" could be a special impulse set where we find so an special "collectible minifigure".
-
That is an interesting collection. It was a good choice to start with easy-going buildings. So it is now enough time for the very difficult buildings in Rivendell or Lothlorien... The Mines of Moria: This set sounds very interesting. Maybe it is a kind of collection of here counted possibilities: Moria Gate and Watcher, Balins Tomb, The Bridge of Khazad doom. Or it is a set based of the Great Hall where the goblins climbing at the columns... But ATTENTION! -The Moria Goblins are smaller as orcs! Those minifigures needs short legs! Ohhh wow! I'm very happy. Now it is here near 5.00 am. I try to sleep.
-
Oh my good! ...it is in Germany 4.06 am and I can't sleep because I'm too overexcited.
-
I need more... What the hell... I'm absolute, absolute really really -and you can REALLY believe me- really.... EDIT: That is ... Ok, (I'm german) what is better as amazing? 2.EDIT: If you have more ideas: Your ideas are here welcome!

YUHUUUUUU!!! I don't know why, but I believe you!

Are these sets based of LotR or the Hobbit?

Why ever these secrets? What is the good of this? LEGO to lock oneself out of this conversation and that is too stupid. It would be a effectively way if we (the LotR fans) and TLG work together for a better LEGO Middle-earth. How might looks the standard practice? ->Example: LEGO want to create Rivendell. Ok, at first we get the information that LEGO want to develop that place. Now builds everyone for 4x weeks here a Rivendell MOC (TLG too). As next we to compare our results. In every MOC are different important details (ideas). -> I swear. If LEGO says to us that they want to create this set and want to build it with us together, will the incitement be massive and we will see a lot of very good MOCs. During the comparisons (for example also 4x weeks) is to decide which ideas are very good and go in combination with other ideas (form other MOCs) into the LEGO Rivendell set. This decide will be very hard because we have as next to regard the.... ...the economic factor. After we have to figure out which details Rivendell needs is to decide which size (and how complicated to build) this LEGO set have to be. Where can TLG to save bricks and where are some bricks new to mold... In this time comes into being a very effective conversation and TLG get all prime wishes, ideas, informations and wins additional thereby the best feedback of all time. Damn, that would make sooooo fun!!
-
What do you think? LEGO would produce The Hobbit but not LotR? A LEGO Tolkien License without LotR is like Star Wars without the OT. ...that is a absurd thought!
-
...it is genetically determined. Just imagine you have a little brother and now you buy a Lord of the Ring LEGO set. What do you think want your little brother next time also buy? You are a kind exemplary function. And in that case for TLG the best merchandise function. ->The kiddies see that elderly buy cool LEGO LotR/Hobbit sets ->so will those also buy cool LotR/Hobbit sets. TLG's job it is these sets to create interesting for all generations.
-
The advantage by LEGO's LotR/Hobbit is ->that so much adults loves that theme. And what adults want, want children also. Because adults stuff cool is. Hey come on, if they see that elderly are crazy about LotR -than will the kiddies to think that fascinating. And if they see a LEGO Sauron (without to know his story) than they will despite like them. That guy looks cool enough (all LotR guys (and womans ) looks cool) so as to create his new own story. All armies of Middle-earth are perfect for playing... So my thought. I to accept the challenge. The smallest set: 10$/€: Saurons destiny/Isildurs bane set get the same size like the "Viking Warrior challenges the Fenris Wolf set" Some action: 20$/€: Nazgul attack at Bucklebury Ferry -> "Castaway's Raft" A sweet house: 30$/€: Radagast's house -> "Majisto's Magical Workshop" For our Forestman friends a nice replacement: 40$/€: Henneth Annûn (Faramirs hidden Gondorian ranger outpost) -> "Skull Island" (Without skull ) Found at Forestmen surfing: 50$/€: Elf treehouse -> "Forestmen's Hideout" (just bigger)^^ And at last the large set over 100$/€: Minas Tirith Citadel -> "Hogwarts Castle" Hey, to find comparisons for possible set sizes makes fun. Now it's your turn. Ohhhhh man, I can't wait!! In February 2012 are the major Toy Fairs in New York and Nürnberg! That's 10x weeks to wait. I will be soooo thrilled for the first pics, infos, official confirmations... what ever I do count the days: Toy Fair Nürnberg 01.-06. Feb. 2012 -> That's are 60 days to wait. arrg that is too long.

I want to make a "set scale comparison" from other themes to LotR/Hobbit. Possible set sizes: -Bag End could get the size from Hagrit's Hut (HP) -Amon Hen ruin could get the size from The Old Mill (PotC) -Also get the Cirith Ungol Tower (where Frodo to be held captive)the Old Mill size -Rivendell get the size from The Daigon Alley (HP) -Moria Gate might look like the LEGO Hoth Base gate (SW) -The Balrog could get the size like a LEGO Vikings Dragon (same size for Smaug the dragon) -The Prancing Poney is fit for the Burrow size (HP) -Siege of Minas Tirith in several sets like the SW Endor/Hoth Battle: *Siege tower for AT-ST size (or Castle siege tower) *Minas Tirith Battle set (gate plus wall) could get the size from the Endor Battle set *Mumak with tower (war elephount) might look like the AT-AT *Grond (big battering ram) could get also the size from the AT-ST -the arrival of the Corsair Ship might look like the ghost ship and the small harbor (Castle-theme) -Mount Doom final scene get the size from the Young Fountain (PotC) -also Gollum's cave, the Nazgul attack at the Weather top and also the Dead Marshes scene ...I think these examples are enough. For the collector factor it would be wise if every minifigure in every set (apposite to the scene) get a several face (worry, happy, classic, angry, scarry... whatever in this scene happens). Maybe are the many different face prints for LEGO more expensive, but also would LEGO sell more sets. I think every set need his own flair. Why I should buy a LEGO set if I already have exact those minifigures.

Yepp, I think at the Nürnberg or New York Toy Fair in February 2012 we will see the first confirmed pictures. Yes, I agree. Before Christmas to bring out very comfirmed infos concerning the Hobbit/LotR theme were for Kingdoms really no good business... -------------------- Hi, I think, I could for example see that LEGO develops a Diagon Alley-like set with Rivendell (alike procedure for 2x or 3x houses): -a larger house with gate and bridge (in second floor is Frodos/Bilbos room) -a medium sized house for Elrond's library and statue with Narsil -gangway and small tower between the houses -a small summerhouse for Arwen and Aragorn -and a space for Elrond's council I think with some new elvish molded elements (bricks) and nice trees could that set sell very well. A LEGO Rivendell set could also to represent a great personality like the Diagon Alley. If TLG for Hobbit/LotR to make an effort -than will much more people to start collecting LEGO. Good styled minifigures are a little reason to buy some LEGO sets. But I think the main reason are the buildings self. And The both stories (Hobbit/LotR) are complete full with interesting locations (buildings) for LEGO sets. Here I must ever think about LEGO Star Wars . -Endor and Hoth are good examples. LEGO has released for both locations a lot of sets. For Helm's Deep could LEGO also develops a lot of sets. The Hornburg could be under attack with additional LEGO sets for the different battle scenes. For example the battle scene before the gate were the Uruk's trying with the aid of an battering ram to storm the fortress, or a LEGO "clamping mechanism sling shot" (I don't know the name ) for the large ladders were the Uruk's trying to climb the large wall, or a nice LEGO exploding wall set were your minifigures learn to fly across your room... and at least additional a battle pack for our Uruk's with a normal ladder and Rohirrim which riding horses. I think this collection would also good sell like the Hoth or Endor sets. @ The Legonater has found a good comparison: If this Medieval Village set sell well -than will a Shire set also sell well (so my thought ). With some well designed buildings like the hobbit tavern "The Green Dragon" and some other buildings could this LEGO set good work. And this set (I think) would additional also have a very good personality. And to be honest. Who would not like the Shire in LEGO form?
-
That is a bit sadly that the main focus just about the minifigures is. I can't see TLG's objectives. Are sets like Diagon Alley or the exclusive Flagship no bestsellers? Why had TLG developed an Black Pearl without beauty details? I've no idea.
