  1. Frodo and Sam are visiting the German Toy Fair. EDIT: LOL, I was too late. ^^
  2. Do it alike Games Workshop and you are on the right way. Those figures in LEGO style were perfect!
  3. Thanks for your comments. I've tried to create a set where we find Moria Goblins for a great army and important grey bricks for MOCcing other buildings. I thought it would be helpful to combine useful bricks & minifigures and to put both into 1x LEGO set. That would give us a reason to buy this set multiple times. But you are right if you say... ...yepp, I agree, a scenery set needs more as just scenery. It needs playable things... And you are right if you say... ...if you only need minifigures, then is that the right way. The simple trebuchet is a good idea. That set were alike a catapult with some orcs a nice army building set! But why not with a bit scenery? With a Osgiliath ruin (grey bricks), or a Minas Tirith city wall (white bricks), or a small orc fortress (dark grey/black bricks) for example. I think these bricks were anytime welcome. Greetings Elander
  4. Hi, Why do you like LEGO? Why do I like LEGO? ->I like LEGO, because that toy give me always the possibility to build whatever I want. Imagine you are a LEGO designer and all bricks are prepared.. And you get now the order to build army building sets for LotR! What would you do? How would you work? ...playability, buildability, cost? Oh-ha! Now don't standing any more all bricks at your disposal. Now are all things limited because otherwise the costs go up... Middle-earth is a landscape/building theme. And unfortunately are these landscapes too huge for LEGO sets. Scenery or Army Building sets were additional sets for bigger landscapes. You would (if you want) buy these scenery sets multiple times. Therefore were these sets to create alike CREATOR sets. The Important Rule: Scenery sets were without main characters available. And that shall be my first contribution: A "Moria Goblin Army Building Set". ->If you have also scenery or army building set ideas. -Then I would be happy to see your ideas here. With that single set it shall be possible to build the Great Hall of Moria. A huge room (like an space) with giant columns where the Goblins comes out from the ceiling and climbing along these columns because they want to catch Frodo and the Fellowship. Well, I think the Moria Battle Pack could look like a column where 4x Moria Goblins climbing along this column. This column included a little CREATOR option. The end at this colums can get two different connections. And if you do buy this column twice -then you can with these two columns build a bigger column. A column in real size. And it is stable. I hope you like this idea. I think the column could cost between $30-40 or 35-45E. The column would include important bricks for other buildings and we would get 4x Moria Goblins extra. Greetings Elander Arrg: I do know, my English is terrible. But now I've got an error at my topic title. How I can to correct senery to scenery? EDIT: Thanks!
  5. If Eomer is really included into the "Uruk-hai Army" set -than is the "Orc Forge" a welcome alternative army building set.
  6. Something have LEGO at the Hobbits forgotten: -hairy feeds! The minifigures are looking very well. I like particularly the torsos from the Hobbits and Gimli's helmet. These details are perfect! I have some ideas for Gandalf and Boromir: -Gandalf could get a new molded magic wand and grey hairs under his hat. -Boromir could get a printed White Tree on his torso and could hold in his hand the Horn of Gondor. Greetings Elander
  7. Hi folks, Middle-earth is a landscape/building theme. And unfortunately are these landscapes too huge for LEGO sets. Therefore is my task to figure out how it is possible to develop these landscapes. How can LEGO for example develop the Shire? What do you think? -I think at first there is a thermal cutting between "main sets" and "scenery sets". Bag end for example is a "main set". That building we can see 1x time in the shire. That would be a place for "main characters". Scenery sets are additional sets for bigger landscapes. You would (if you want) buy these scenery sets multiple times. Therefore were these sets to create alike CREATOR sets. That is my first example: Let us conceive LEGO would develop just “one” 3 in 1 CREATOR hobbit hole. In single-form has every hobbit-hole a hole in the side. That hole can with a second hole be closed. In total shape were multiple single hobbit-holes one hill. Ok, we would get in total a complete modular building. –A hill. The perfect minifigures for scenery sets are "variable" minifigures (for hobbits) with 2x faces and 2x hats/hairs per head. Who needs double hobbits? In that case are to develop "variable" hobbits. And no "main characters like Bilbo Baggins"! Nobody want 5x Bilbos. With modular CREATOR sets you could add your shire with more hills. If LEGO put different doors and windows in different colors in this set could it happen. Multiple CREATOR holes shape a hill and you can build this hill in different scales. I hope you like the idea. I think scenery sets are a wonderful addition for our LEGO Middle-earth. Greetings Elander
  8. I've to say that Frodo, Aragorn and Legolas are looking very well. The facial expressions are very realistic and the accessoires looking promising. Some minifigures more like in this quality and that theme will become the best ever. What do you think, how will Gollum be designed? Will he get a new molded head alike Dobby or Master Yoda? -Or will he get a normal LEGO head? Gothmog could also get a new molded head. Woha, that is really heavy. If I count all the cultures, cities and landscapes only from the movies. Than I could count circa 100 possible LEGO LotR sets. Damn, that is real. And that theme "can" really become the best ever!
  9. Battle Packs with style: Example: What do you think, how could look a Moria Battle Pack? Clearly, the figures are Moria Goblins. Ok, but what is about the location? Do you remember the Great Hall of Moria? A huge room (like an space) with giant columns where the Goblins comes out from the ceiling and climbing along these columns for to catch the fellowship. Well, I think the Moria Battle Pack could look like a column where 4x Moria Goblins climbing along this column. And if you to buy this Battle Pack multiple times -than you can with these columns build the Great Hall of Moria. And now the same procedure for the other locations: Which things/peoples/creatures are we seeing multiple times at the battles? 1: Nothing is easier to create like Osgiliath: -A small 3 in 1 CREATOR ruin, -and finished. 2: Orc rowboat for the Orcs at the Battle of Osgiliath. 3: Orc siege towers or catapults at the Battle of Minas Tirith: -These thinks you can allways need multiple times. 4: War Oliphants at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields: -Why not without main characters? Why to put Legolas or Eomer in this set if you want 2x or 3x War Oliphants. Who needs those characters multiple times? ....stop! But which character are we seeing multiple times? -The Nazgul with the Fell beast! -Yepp, that character is born for a Battle Pack! And what is about the buildings? Example: We do know that the Black Gate of Mordor is black! Ok, let's to introduce that LEGO to bing out the Black Gate of Mordor. -Than you to buy that set. You to build it -and later do you want that gate in a bigger size. What will you need? Right, black bricks (black bricks are also nice for a bigger Orthanc or Barad-dur tower)! ->Therefore it would be helpful if TLG produces a Orc Battle Pack including black bricks. Same procedure for Minas Tirith: We do know that the white city is white. ->Therefore it would be helpful if TLG develops a Gondorian Battle Pack including white bricks (for example a modular city wall part... ) Here I've to give TLG a compliment: The Uruk-hai Army Battle Pack includes the "right" bricks! These are grey! -That is perfect for Helm's Deep! The choice to produce this Battle Pack including grey bricks was absolutely right! Well done! The only thing is Eomer. But this is another story...
  10. The Gate of Moria No, your idea is great! More, that would be really great! Names like this would give LEGO The Lord of the Rings something special. I believe anybody would love these names. The Moria Gate could get the scale alike 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave. With in the dark shiny stickers or printed bricks would that gate look absolute fantastic. MOC at www.brickshelf.com Maybe it is not too difficult to give this gate a collapse function. It could be that the (brickbuilt) Watcher wants to enter. So get this set a playable function and a bit action. The Bridge of Khazad-dum Damn, these names give these sets an kind of final touch. MOC at www.xy-cooperations.de Is it possible to create a shiny magic wand? Maybe with a kind of LED light up function? What do you think? Damn, that scene is legendary. I believe the collapse function is for the Bridge of Khazad-dum easier to create like The Gate of Moria. Anyway, both play sets would be awesome.
  11. Damn, is that great! Meanwhile we knows that LotR will coming. And in 17 days starts the first Toy Fair in Nürberg. I hope we will see then the first detailed pics of the Lord of the Rings.
  12. A Barad-dur tower inclusive the Red Eye would be more as just epic. ...but I believe the set would get some size problems: LEGO could produces this set alike the Death Star (monster huge) or could.... ...that would also be a option. But I hope the tower will be a bit bigger.
  13. I still hope that we will see in next time Army Building Sets without characters like Eomer. TLG shall to classify: -Character Sets, these sets includes main characters and to plot a particular location. -Army Building Sets, alike Battle Packs, without main characters. Sets like these you can buy a couple of times. Who needs 10x Eomers? Sets like this are for TLG just own goals. Best example is the "Pirates of the Caribbean Battle Pack" with Captain Jack Sparrow. Who buys this set a couple of times?
  14. I hope that we will see this summer a massive 120-170$/130-180€ exclusive set. Maybe the Orthanc tower or Rivendell... Than would be the complete price (inclusive "The Orc Forge" (number 9476)) increase to $450-500. And that were just the first wave. Hey, I've got a thought! Maybe, ...maybe we get really the Orthanc tower. And the mystery "Orc Forge" (number 9476) based of Isengard. Than we could get a nice Isengard landscape with tower and orc forge. ...I would wait for impulse sets. What do you want with 50x Eomers? Hey, I've got another thought! Maybe is "The Orc Forge" (number 9476) just a impulse set...
  15. Hi, that is now off topic, but I think I can add these rumores. Meanwhile talk more and more people in different forums about possible Silmarillion movies. And maybe will Tolkien Enterprises really sell these Silmarillion licenses. Ok, that are overall only rumores (allways the same procedure) but also needs Hollywood allways new movie-stuff. Additional the Video Game Industry, they still have anyway the same interests. And the Silmarillion would give enough movie- and video game stuff for min. 10x movie episodes and min. 20x video games. ^^ That's a lot of money. And here I have to say: LEGO can for Star Wars develop non-stop X-Wings or Tie-Fighters but Tolkien's Silmarillion is really too huge. I think LEGO would need min. 50x waves if they want to develop every landscape into only 1x LEGO set. Back to topic: I can't still believe that LotR/Hobbit replace Harry Potter, PotC, and additional Kingdoms. That are whole 3x themes! [And no, Marvel Comics are none medieval fantasy stories and do not replace Harry Potter or PotC.] I'm sure, no, I'm pretty sure, that the historical Kingdoms theme will be replaced by an other historical theme and not by LotR/Hobbit! -Kingdoms is a non-license theme an will be replaced by an ancient-, Wild West- or an other historical theme. -LotR/Hobbit is a license theme and replace the license themes Harry Potter and PotC. That are 2x themes! I have no idea which historical theme we will see, but I think it will be a welcome change.
  16. Agreed! LotR is really a very good replacement. Absolut fantastic minifigure possibilities... I do know no theme where we could get so many different main characters, military forces and other folks.
  17. Was Ninjago LEGO's answer concerning this petition? What do you think: Are crazy skeletons cooler as real Samurais or were two real medieval themes too much stuff at the same time. Could it be that a Kingdoms theme and a real Ninja theme were to be in competition?
  18. ... I prefer more army building sets without main characters. What do I want with 4x Eomers or Sarumans. Why isn't Eomer gone into the Helm's Deep set? Why should Saruman go into the "Orc Forge"? This set sounds like a fantastic army building set. Saruman could go into the Orthanc tower. There he would get a nice place at the red shiny Plantir (glass ball).
  19. ...nothing but

  21. WOW, thanks thanks thanks.... I've never got so many comments in a so short time. That is record. Hello, yes, the walls closes automatically. Hi, yepp, all shafts and cogs working together very well. Thanks! Sorry, a picture with all other MOC's is impossible. -Because the bricks from the other buildings are in this building integrated. Yes, sure. Phuu, I think 4-5 weeks.
  22. During Obi-Wan deactivates the tractor beam from the Death Star. Are our heroes (Han Solo, Luke, Chewy and Princess Leia) caught at the scrap press. That is not good -because they will be squashed after a certain time. Hopefully they can escape from this unpleasant situation. Yep, that was my first attempt to build the scrap press from the Death Star. I hope you will like it. Have fun! The scrap press: The press interlocks: Top view: Inside view (here is cleaned): Behind the press: Many many shafts and cogs: And as a last point a Stormtrooper at his work. Greetings (Viele Grüße) Elander
  23. Agreed! But with Rivendell plus Lothlorien can you make a elven village with nice-looking trees.
  24. ...I prefer a ancient theme. For example: Wave 1: Greece Wave 2: Troy, Egypt (pyramids/temples) Wave 3: Persian, India (Alexander) Wave 4: Rome Empire Wave 5: Rome Empire, Carthage, south provinces Wave 6: Rome Empire, north provinces (Gaul, Britania, Germania) Wave 7: ...any more sets
