Hi, thanks for your comments. Isengard will be very difficult for me. I've no idea how many black bricks I will need. But in future I will definitive build that place. But here are 3x (a bit) sharper photos: The invisible house: The invisible warrior: Viele Grüße Elander

Hi, my first attempt to build the Paths of the Dead I've tried to build the scene where Aragorn meets the King of the Dead. I was inspired by the City of the Dead and added this meeting with a "inversible" house from this city. I hope that had worked. Beside the inversible house walk a inversible ghost. I call him "Big Brother". And inside the house rotten a old skeleton. And here are two pictures from the meeting: And at last a group photo. left to right: Spooky Jones, Big Brother, King of the Dead, Scary Harry, Aragorn Viele Grüße Elander

Yepp those minifigures are my thought too. -King Theoden could look like bewitched and classic serious. -Grima could look like ...Grima (worry style) -Eowyn: also classic in brown dress -Gandalf get the white magic wand -the Guards could be Hama and Gamling Wow, only 391 pieces!? What do you think how expensive could this set be?

Just a thought... The younger LEGO builder needs for playing "Play Sets" Army builder needs for big armies "Battle Packs" And the elderly LEGO builder needs for building... ..."Modular Building Sets" Every modular building set would be like a big variable brick. Everybody could with some different modular sets (based of Rivendell) build his one's own Rivendell. ...yepp, I do know what do you now say: "CREATOR, modular or other variable things are for LEGO too innovative.

MOC: Modular Lord of the Rings in LDD
Elander replied to MattTheLegoman's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These modules looks fantastic. The colours are well-chosen and the details looks very well. I would buy them all. ^^ I imagine a "Collectible Modular Series" including special elements/bricks for our LEGO brick builders (like me ). Keep it up! Elander -
And exact that is the reason why exclusive sets for our elderly will be very successful. The adults buy the Death Star and all the other UCS Star Wars sets. Not the kiddies. These are happy with Battle Packs and play sets with cool looking minifigures like Lieutenant Gothmog or the King of the Dead. Damn, but maybe I'm just too excited for that theme... ...because it is sooooo much possible!!
-
Would you not like a ancient theme? Some collectable minifigues looks very promising. I think, I've enough Castle and Kingdoms stuff. A Roman/Greek theme would be (and LotR is) very welcome.

Just a thought... ...if LEGO prduces 5x play set waves for: - Summer 2012 - Winter 2012/13 - Summer 2013 - Winter 2013/14 - Summer 2014 (maybe more) ...and the most impressively main buildings/major locations for bigger LEGO sets are: - 1 Esgaroth, Lake town (Hobbit) - 2 Thanduril's halls (Hobbit) - 3 Erebor, Lonley Mountain (Hobbit) - 4 Dol Guldur (Hobbit) - 5 The Shire (Hobbit/LotR) - 6 Rivendell (Hobbit/LotR) - 7 Mines of Moria (LotR)* - 8 Helm's Deep (LotR)* - 9 Edoras (LotR) -10 Black Gate (LotR) -11 Minas Tirith Citadel with the White tree (LotR) -12 Minas Morgul (LotR) -13 Barad-dur, the Dark tower (LotR) -14 Orthanc, Isengard tower (LotR) -15 Caras Galadhon, Lothlorien (LotR) (Something forgotten? ) 15x major locations/5x play set waves = 3x major locations per wave *Summer 2012: Are the Mines of Moria and Helm's Deep included. Maybe LEGO adds a big exclusive set for every play set wave . (Star Wars gets also 2x exclusive sets per year.) Than it could be possible that we see every major location in LEGO style. ^^

In moments like this one where I read your text, there I wish me that LEGO produces a LotR set alike the Diagon Alley. A set where everybody say: WOW, I want that set -instant! I think, (and I think I'm not alone with this thought) this moment will come soon... (Well, I save my money for this moment) EDIT: Additional I've to say that the first play sets looks (for play sets) very promising.

Hi, today I've created the scene where Frodo will be stabbed by an Morgul blade. I hope you can recognize this inversible guy. That shall be Frodo. Where he carry the ring. Yepp, Lord Voldemord and Princess Leia have both together gotten a transformation into the Witchking. I hope you like him. Additional I've tried to create the statue with these bowl. (If you are wondering who that grey guy is.) I hope you like my tiny MINI-MOC. Elander

I total agree! I prefer also more army building sets. My dream are army sets like your ideas or classic Battle Packs similar to Star Wars. Battle Packs without main characters are more as perfect for LotR! I think the Orthanc tower will be very difficult. The tower is very massive and that is expensive. And expensive sets are (almost always) special exclusive sets. I don't believe that LEGO develops this tower as play set for kids. That set will be a big one for our elderly LEGO fans. But I think that the balcony will be similar so high like Treebeards face. Maybe a bit higher. But not much. The Mumak: Exact my thought! Please no main characters in that set, because the army builders want the Mumak 2x or 3x times! The Mumak IS a army building set. I think all siege sets with siege towers or catapults (everything what we see more as just 1x time) should be army building sets without main characters. Converse are things what we see just 1x time. For example Grond the battering ram or the Gate of Minas Tirith, Minas Tirith beacon or the Citadel with the White tree. These sets should be a place for our main characters.

Heyho, at the time I'm absolute overexcited. Next year begins LEGO LotR and the Hobbit! My dream come true! And that is the reason why I now start moccing And here is my first LotR MOC: The Blacke Gate A door and two towers. The main part from the Black Gate. The left and the right site is open -if I want to add this MOC with an larger wall are bricks included with these I can connect this part. But at first I need more black bricks. [if TLG produces the Black Gate as LEGO set my dream would be an kind of addition set for the left and the right site. In CREATOR style for a wall part and a tower part. This addition set could be integrated into a large Battle Pack like Uruk-hai Army.] Ok, enough from my wishes, back to my MOC. I've tried to give the gate/wall and the both towers many details like this spire crenellations. Yes, I do know. The wall is too short and the towers are too big. I promise, my next Black Gate will be better. The error went unnoticed (not before it was too late). Ok, I hope you like it. I've tried to create the main characters Saurons Mounth and King Elasser (Aragorn). Also a Easterling. And at last the complete company: I hope the black colours are at the images good enough. to photograph these black colours at the front from the white wall is not easy. Ok, have fun.

Ok, I'm sorry, you are right, my criticism was too strong. LEGO do a good job. That we do not see double Frodos and double Aragorns like Harry Potter or Indiana Jones is really a big step forward. I'm only trying to help with ideas and thoughts for better LEGO LotR sets and a better merchandise. That for example was my thought about more colors for the first wave.
-
If Kingdoms really ends -than I hope for a ancient Roman/Greek theme.
-
Sorry, but LEGO -that was stupid. We've talked here about CREATOR sets, variable minifigures, different possibilities for LEGO to sell his sets many times... ...and now has LEGO given me a reason to buy not more as 6x LotR sets. -Because at every from these 6x sets are main characters included. And I don't need double Eomers or other double main characters... Where are the sets for our armies? Without main characters!? We put here so much stuff in this topic, so many ideas, so many thoughts... What's up? Really -what's up?? Sorry, but that criticism must be. You see nowhere so huge battles with so many soldiers as in Middle-earth. Where are the true Battle-Packs? (The Eomer Battle Pack will bought just 1x time)
-
Agreed! I do also not want 3x or 4x Eomers. If Eomer is included in this set -I will also to buy this set just 1x time. In that case I will wait for Rohan/Uruk-hai impulse sets.
-
Wow, nice statistic Eomer helmet? Where in which set could Eomer be? I haven't noticed that guy.
-
The Mumakil with haradrim archers would be great. I would buy this set more as 1x time. But I don't need 3x Eowyns or Merrys. I do prefer for this set 2x usually Rohan riders. Were just Eowyn and Merry in that set -than I think, I would to buy this set just 1x time. Eowyn and Merry (both in soldier outfit) could go into this Witchking set, were Eowyn and Merry fight against the Witchking.

Here* I've found images for the Morgul blade: Wow, in that case would LEGO create 2x Morgul blades. 1x for the Witchking in demon style and 1x in classic black style (without helmet). The Witchking returns with helmet in Return of the King. For that version I'm very excited! That helmet is very difficult to mold. This thing could look too big for the LEGO minifigure?! "Collectable Minifigures": If that slogan really means that we will not see double minifigures a'la Harry Potter, Indiana Jones & co. so will every minifigure (main character) have his one's own nature (feature). At the first wave we see 3x Frodos: -Shelob Attacks: Frodo in spider web outfit and unconscious/pensive face -Gandalf Arrives: Frodo in green and classic/happy -and so looks Frodo after he is stabbed: *EDIT: For the images please scroll down.
-
Wow, very good images! I think all the other characters could also get new molds. For Legolas a special bow, for the Witchking (I hope so for a shiny version Morgul blade, RotK: yes @Fives: Helmet, sword and spiked mace)... ...and for Boromir the Horn of Gondor
-
Great! I would buy it -if LEGO do produces that set. XD Is over the door a small room? I like the small equipments (see the throne and the fireplace). I think the large horse flags would looks awesome. What do you think which minifigures would LEGO put into this set? Very good work!
-
Do you think LEGO will all these swords for the different characters Aragorn/Gandalf/Nazgul... new mold?
-
I have also to agree here. But it was very very clever to start with simple-going buildings, rocks, ruins and caves. Now it is enough time to mold new elements/bricks for the difficult buildings a'la Minas Morgul or the Black Gate. Colorful buildings also (see Rivendell, the Shire, Lothlorien or Edoras). Damn, I think the Golden Hall (for example) would be a amazing exclusive set with wonderful collectable minifigures for our older ones . I see the pompous throne room with these green horse flags . (Ok, enough wishful thinking XD ) Back to the first wave: Yes, a bit more colors would be possible: Hmmm... let us take a look to the Mines of Moria. IF LEGO in future not to be willing to produce a Gate of Moria with watcher set. -Than it would be plausible to give the back side of the doors at Balin's tomb in the dark shiny stickers ("the door shines in starlight and moonlight"). So would get this set a bit more color (IF LEGO does not create a complete Moria Gate set in the future, who knows). Nazgul Attack at Weather top: As I said before, the thing with the shiny Witchking with Morgul Blade. That shiny guy would give this set also a bit color. ^^ Shelob Attacks: Also an shiny option. Yes here in Middle-earth shines everywhere. Let us talk about Frodos sword Sting and the Phial of Galadriel. I hope LEGO can create these things so -that these can also in the dark shine. That would be for kids and also for me amazing. XD Helm's Deep: ...phu, very difficult. Here are all rocks and walls grey and it shines nothing. The only colors have these siege engines. Here at this image I want to show you these large ladders. One of these large ledders needs a separate sling engine for the clamping device. Additional to the smaller brown ladders for the depending wall would this set get 1x brown sling engine and 1x brown large ladder. ...oh, I've forgotten the battering ram. (Damn, with all these special features could that set go into LEGO's Hall of Fame ) ->In summery 4x brown objects. More isn't possible. Gandalf Arrives: Here are colors enough. But someone had an nice idea concerning Frodo. He could stand by an small tree with an book in his hands. Nice idea, but that set would getting more expensive. Yes, I like that sword. I think also we will see that sword for Aragorn/Boromir/Gandalf/Nazgul in grey/dark grey or black colors. EDIT: Here a good image for that sword:

Maybe is the mysterious 9475 LEGO set an Lothlorien set (just my thought) ?? -Than it could be possible that LEGO produces a Lothlorien soldier impulse set. You're right if you say that every orc has a another look. In that case must a orc impulse set have changeable options. For example: 2x different faces + 2x diff. helmets + 3x body options(2x diff. armors, 1x torso look) + 3x weapon options (lance, sword and targe, bow and arrow) = 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 = 36 variant types of orcs. ->if you want the complete collection -than you would have to buy 36x orc impulse sets. (...as I said before) Someone has written that "The Orc Forge 9476" a kind forge set is. Sounds logical. Maybe a small Isengard cave with some orcs & uruks. Sounds like a battle pack (my thought).
