Gears, most wanted
Boxerlego replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Makes perfect sense. See the diagonal bracing and the non-horizontal/non-vertical gear alignment, everything is there just like you wanted. However, the 12 tooth gear is not big enough to mesh with another 12 tooth gear, so in-order to add the second gear on for the kinematic motion to happen I needed to use two 16 tooth gears in the end, which brings me back to the thought on using the 32 tooth gear along with the 16 tooth gears. -

I want to point out that your VERY vague on you diagonal bracing, Show me the LEGO element that would support this and what is the precise angle that you think will work, -

Everyone one of those gear pairs will work, the problem is that you have to compensate for the extra stud length at the end on the liftarm so it will be able to travel in a straight line and pass directly of the center of the sun gear. I've made the 1.5 stud offset work, here is a of it, but the rotating link is 3 studs long and the total stud length from the center of the sun gear is 3.5 studs long so there is a 0.5 studs offset between the two. Sure you can use some of those elements to compensate for that 0.5 offset, but the 32t gear with the 16t gear does not need these compensations and is able to fit precisely with in Lego geometry. -

Kinematic pair is very simple to understand. I made the kinematic gear pair list showing all the current Gears pairs that have a 1:2 ratio but none of them is Geometrically correct with with Lego's Geometry. Connecting the gear diagonally will not work here because the gears will not function geometrically correct with Lego's paradigm and It will be off centered. In order for this kinematic machine to function perfectly you have to connect the gears on the vertical or horizontal plane. I recommend to watch this so you can see how precise this kinematic machine can travel in a straight line. To achieve this kind of perfection with lego gears everything should add up to a whole number so the line will be perfectly straight and pass over the exact center of the sun gear. Any imperfections with the gear distance will not make a straight line of travel because the geometry does not perfectly pass over the center of the sun gear. -

I made a list of the current kinematic gear pairs. The only problem is that none of these gears have a proper stud length to be geometrically correct with Lego. At the bottom of the list you can see the Turntable has a kinematic pair with the differential gear but the stud distance still remains an issue. A 32 tooth gear with a 16 tooth gear is a kinematic pair that would fit precisely with Lego geometry. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion

These new house rules are great. The project guidelines have answered many of my questions on what is presentable and acceptable as a Lego Idea. -

The turntable is design to be the base for rotating cranes. Sure the turntable has it potential use here. But the kinematic geometry of gear elements behind the stationary sun gear and the planet gear must be be precise on many factors -
The current Internet is a experimental prototype. The social impact of the internet is more detrimental then beneficial because the views of the individual has been ultimately been denounced until some reputably cooperation like Google deiced to informs everyone about it. Everyone has the capability to spread disinformation and misinform each other which is the goal of divide and conquer. The majority of people are ready to embrace the secret religious teaching of illuminati before they embrace real beneficial advancements for society like the wireless transmission of electrical power distribution. The way I see it YouTube operates as a big Confidence Trick. Look at all the people who want to create a since of authority for their channels based on how many subscribers there is. Don't be tricked by the comment bots that plague certain YouTube channels with its positive remarks regarding the video and its author. There just there to create a illusion that there videos are worth watching. Usually these channels want to shame other channels that are making videos over the same topic. If anything these YouTube channels that pertain to the same topic should be working together to create a bigger picture for you to focus on, you can't do everything by yourself, it's naive to think so.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Boxerlego replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The update in rules dont give much information towards purposing idea's aimed at (Electronics) Power Function Systems. Anyone can purpose their Ideas for the PF system, does not mean in the end everything will work out as imagine. Take for example the problem that is surrounding the V2 IR receiver not capable of powering 2 M-motors of a single output for more then 30 seconds. It would be great to see you perform some test for these parts and show the limitation. -

Yes, the gear has practical use in lego. added text: The above gear video can be made in lego but the kinematic example is difficult to build in lego because the most gears do not have a circle hole o in the center for the shaft to rotate and provide a base to build on so the gear can remain fixed in position. -

A gear design that would be great to have is a Stationary gear that will allow an axle to rotate in the center. Works like the Sun and planet Gear in this video. -

Trying to get purist approval of something very difficult. Consider this, even though I showed a modified a 16 tooth gear begin able to connect with a non-lego gear I still have a purist way by begin able to use a unmodified 20 tooth gear and still achieve the same thing but the purist mentality will not look positively on either one because it is no good to them. There will always be hostile attitude towards anything positive and new. Purist should be focused on the consistency, this is necessary for the sake of logic. What is good in the past will be good now and will be good in the future and it will be good under any circumstance, so any idea that does not cover all this broad base is no good. -
Interesting, I never encounter this problem with the upgraded XL motor and v2 receiver after 30 seconds of use maybe around 5 minutes of use the receiver starts to cut power with some moderate use like in this video. This motor is a beast and it would have probably climb up that pile of bricks at the end if it was the receiver was being freshly used.

The amount of tags have nothing to do here and it is all about the amount of videos views and Viral marketing. The way I see it, its thepopularity is what determines the added selection of videos, take for example the Lego topic channel, I'm smart enough to know that there is days worth of Lego videos uploaded to YouTube every hour, that lego topic channel is not going to start randomly choosing lego video that are uploaded with barley any views. The topic channel is there to create a list of popular videos through a algorithm that pertain to the topic matter are the ones automatically chosen. Just look at all these videos of that kid kickboxer, Every video has it own channel that share all the same videos in different languages . https://www.youtube....h?v=hKLWyj0YSzU Google translate text to Romanian https://www.youtube....h?v=RHzx8NvDDE4 Bosnian https://www.youtube....h?v=QcNoXNKwFZA Galician https://www.youtube....h?v=TfHks6KjHtI Albania https://www.youtube....h?v=uZFuKh1cwoc Swedish https://www.youtube....h?v=NLHLvrjCsvQ French https://www.youtube....h?v=D2dm_Suya-c German Here is a question. Why is it that the Edward Leedskalnin topic broght in a video that has no views that has nothing to do with the topic in the video and does it based on simple tag text like Edward Leedskalnin and the Lego topic will only bring in videos that have tons of viewers already because the Lego tag text is there?

PF Wiring Question
Boxerlego replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The PF system has its unnecessary wires mostly on the DC motors. The PF switch is tricky because it sends power by the two outer wires but it doesn't switch the polarity on them because that would probably destroy the IR receiver. -
Pneumatic Cylinders Testing
Boxerlego replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mineral oil is an inert substance. It probably not going to react with the abs. Here is a video on this. You could use either one but I want you to consider this, Do you know how much one gallon of silicon oil cost over one gallon mineral oil? -
Pneumatic Cylinders Testing
Boxerlego replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The metal rod will probably rust. The better option is to use non aromatic mineral oil. It wont hut the lego unless it has perfume it, nor will the mineral oil make the metal rust. -
Still dont believe me that YouTube has mechanism in place for suppressing videos. Well I have more evidence to say it is. There are these Auto Generated Topic Channels that is created by youtube and it finds and adds certain videos that fit with the Criteria for that Topic channel, Take Note that these auto generated channels are controlled by youtube computer algorithms. Well I am subscribe to these Auto Generated Topic Channels here "Coral Castle and Edward Leedskalnin" and recently both of these channels added videos that have nothing to do with theses topics. How is it that this video here (Youtube Video Link) with the Kid can make it in to the Coral Castle Topic with in 3 day it was uploaded, when the only mention of Coral Castle is in the Description. This video has nothing to do with Coral Castle. It is a video of a Kid Kick BOXER that is in a workout session. The other example I have here is a video Title Demo Leedskalnin Effect (Youtube Video Link) that was added to the Edward Leedskalnin with in 3 day it was uploaded and this video here also has nothing to do with Edward Leedskalnin. I put out a series of videos that definitely fit with in there Topic criteria about Edward Leedskalnin and my videos were never were added to the Edward Leedskalnin topic channels with in 3 days they was uploaded. Now you can see that there is indeed clear evidence that video suppression going on at youtube. Why else would they put up videos that has nothing to do with these Topic channel that they control and leave the real videos that have everything to do with the topic "like mine" alone . Youtube has a FAQ on these Topic channels which provides a list of questions and answers on how you get your videos added to these topic channels. My videos fit perfectly with in their criteria for them to show my video on there topic channels. Update: Ok I did some more searching to figure out what is going on and there is a list of videos of that Kid Kick Boxer in different languages and all of them have Coral Castle and Edward Leedskalnin in the description and every channel is youtube verified that means it has the check mark by their name.

I tested out several variations on how you can connect the receivers up with motors and batteries awhile back when I posted the Guide on how to connect two battery boxes in series for 18V. The two inner wires on the pf cable connect to the motor. The White Plate is a parallel connection for the pf extension cable which increases the amount current can be supplied to the motor at 9V but this all depends on the battery capacity and the ability to reach that potential discharge.
