Counter to Garmadon's build Fortifying the Land The Ulandian soldiers were working hard to finish the stronghold and fortify the area. "It sure is getting hot out tod..." "AAahhh!!" A high shriek came from inside the fort. "Get me out!!! AAahhsssssssssssss..." And in mere minutes, days of hard work turned to ash. Well, it can certainly be said that Ulandian locksmithery is top notch... Thanks for having a gander

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone. With regards to the colour choice for the rock-work, when I read "light colored stone" and then look through some of gendren_y's Nestland builds - tan was what sort of stuck in my head, while picturing a landscape sort of something like this. Though it does work quite well as a desolate desert-y area with the green stuff removed, lol. You'd think after occupying the area for a bit, they would have learned not to drink the water

The Gutters Run With Blood [WZ4:H9, Desert King]
Emma replied to Emma's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys! The aquaduct build and this build were my first tries at using this particular 'round wall' technique that I've seen others use to great effect - I like it, although was surprised at how quickly I seemed to be going through my 1x1 lt. grey round plate pieces... A ruined sewer - with the blood flowing down through a crack into it... would have been awesome... ...and a pile of dead guys to account for the blood... I wish I had had the time to go back and modify this, these ideas are great.- 20 replies

Warzone 3: The Nestlands Insurgency. BATTLE THREAD (Due March 29th)

Here's mine -
Great work with the dense foliage, and I really like the tree design. Let's see... the only odd thing I can notice is how the leaves on those tall flower stalks all point in the very same direction - maybe rotating a few of those bamboo pieces a bit might have made it a tad more natural looking...

The Gutters Run With Blood The Lonely Mountain Rumble (WZ4:H9) For the Desert King! Fighting for the Desert King, the warrior Kauket eagerly jumps into the foray, quickly bringing darkness to her adversaries. Ancient sewers collect the blood of the defeated. I hope it's ok that I gave Bella’Erezhi some sewers - I was thinking they could be some sort of remnant from the good old days of a ruling Desert King... Also - there is a grate through which the blood from the fallen fighter is running down into the sewer...but I neglected to capture that when taking the pictures . Thanks for having a look - C&C are always appreciated.

Into the Nestlands The Nestlands Insurgency (WZ3:G15) For the Desert King! The Desert King is steadily drawing more and more of Kaliphlin under his wing. He has sent several troops into the Northern Nestland region to quell the fighting between the Nestland Clans and Ulandian invaders: they will declare for the King, or they will perish in the dense forests. A band of mountain mummies comes upon some Ulandian men. The Desert King Commander calls out ahead to the approaching soldiers “The Desert King is your rightful ruler! He is just and merciful - will you yield this land peacefully and serve him?” Slinking behind his troops, the Ulandian Commander cries back, “Goodness, no! What silly nonsense. Men, go kill those dead thingies!” He continues to creep away. “I’ll go fetch some water from that lovely stream back there to quench you thirst once the job is done…” Suffice to say, the victory went to the Desert King that day .

Wow, the foliage is fantastic. My preference is for the first image, the shadows give it more of a dynamic look and an increased sense of depth.

Thanks for the comments and feedback everyone Uhh, right...a ladder for the workers had crossed my mind at some point while buiding this, but then never happened, whoops!... and now I'm picturing the workers with some sort of cleated shoes climbing up the screw from the river (damp clothes will help keep them cool while they're working) This screw is the special 'treading-powered' model where the casing and the screw are rigidly attached, so they turn together I do wonder how difficult it would be to turn - smaller versions can be hand cranked by one person...although just having to turn the screw and not the whole apparatus would make that easier, and the steep angle that this one is at would probably cause some difficultly... hmmm

Keep the waters flowing Battle for the Reservoir (WZ2:G12) For the Desert King! The war has spread throughout much of Kaliphlin. The importance of the Flagg Aqueduct Filling Stations have not been overlooked as all factions seek to control the Parched Lands’ water source. The locals have been caught up in several attacks by warring troops and have abandoned their pump stations, hoping to keep out of the fighting by holding up in their homes. The Desert King has sent out his soldiers to deal with the crisis near the pumps; Nimueh has been sent along as an attaché to help convince the locals to accept the Desert King’s protection… Nimueh – Flagg did a good thing setting up the reservoir to bring water into the Parched Lands – it is not the desire of the Desert King to see that work undone. He will take these lands under his protection, so that your men can come out of hiding and return to their work. Village Elder – The armies and raiders traipsing through here have already ravaged our village and killed several of the workers. Yours is but a small company, what protection could you possibly offer? Troop Commander – Do not doubt the strength of the Desert King, sir. We are setting up troops all along the Gentle Curve, this entire region will soon be free of the tyranny that has come upon you. Not a one of your people will come to harm while we are here. Village Elder – Very well then, if you will keep us safe, we will keep the waters flowing. The “pump” design is based on the Archimedes Screw – powered by workers turning the screw via treading on the outer casing. Thanks for having a look .

[Mini Challenge, Desert King] Breakout in the Wither Woods
Emma replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Guilds of Historica
Gosh he's (or is it a she?) cute - really nice overall shaping and I especially like the spikes on his tail. It would've been nice if he didn't blend quite so much into the background (perhaps some more greenery around the rat would have helped him stand out more...) -
The Arkbri Skirmishes (WZ1:E7) For the Desert King! "You High Council scum think to spy upon us!? Ha! Death awaits you, sir!" Ulandian scouts come upon two spies planted by the High Council near the Arkbri river and a fierce skirmish ensues... "One councilman down, one to go!" The fighting intensifies, and the remaining soldiers give no notice to the sands shifting beneath their feet... Hidden just below the surface of the bank, the undead soldiers of the Desert King rise through the sand, and swiftly take down the Ulandians and High Councilman. A few more photos showing the whole build: With just the good guys: Thanks for having a look... and for the next warzone I'd pick: F8

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
Emma replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
There has been an amazing amount of work put into this (both story- and gameplay-wise)! I'm looking forward to contributing when I can and seeing how this all plays out. I think my character would choose to fight for the side that has best dealt with the Drow -> Nimueh declares for the Desert King . -
My local Target still has Lego (about as much as they normally had pre-liquidation: several City, Starwars, Chima, Lego Movie, and Friends/Princess sets are still on the shelves). The most interesting thing is that there are still (as of last night) three full-ish boxes of Series 13 Minifigures available.
