  1. Nice job. It makes a nicely proportioned house when modularised. I'm on the lookout for a haunted house and I plan on modding it straight away. My plan is to build it as it was before it became run down and haunted. Cheers Rog
  2. My entry (with no overhang!): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80568 Cheers Rog
  3. Hi all Here's my entry for the servo showdown. Was going to do something a bit more modular originally but 32x32 is quite restrictive if you start to do that so instead I have gone for a more classic town feel but updated. As I was building it I was thinking back to the old 1980s official Shell LEGO petrol stations and how they might look if released today. This is the result: Overall front shot where you can see the price board, some other signage and the shop front: Overall shot from the other side with a view of the picnic area, air/water machine and the (SNOT) pumps: Two of the pumps close-up: The air and water machine: Inside the shop: View of the shop from the other side: Cheers Rog
  4. Started work on mine this afternoon. 32x32 is more of a challenge than I expected! Basic frame and pumps done. Interior and details still to do. Hopefully get it finished this weekend. No pics until it's done though! Cheers Rog
  5. I think I will start mine this weekend. Probably not open back and no idea what brand but we'll see... Cheers Rog
  6. We have red diesel too for farmers and for boats. Very illegal to use in cars and hhe polce do check for it. Vehicle confiscation, big fines and jail for abusing it. The hgh cost is all down to cost. The base price per litre is no different to anywhere else in Europe. We pay £0.60 per litre in fuel tax and then 20% VAT (another £0.28) on top of that. That means that £0.88 out of £1.40 per litre is tax. I'll look forward to seeing who can show the most variety of fuel types in a 32x32 entry... I'm seriously considering joining in on this compo too this weekend. It will give me a break from the fire HQ if nothing else! Cheers Rog
  7. In the UK, you will find that it is pretty much the same as France. Petrol normally comes as Regular (95 octane) or Super (98 octane) with lots of different brand names out there for the Super versions. Diesel also comes as Regular or Super (with additives) and again lots of different brand names for the Super versions. A few stations have LPG but the number of them is going down as it's not popular - even though it's half the price of petrol! Prices are roughly £1.40 per litre for regular petrol and £1.49 per litre for regular diesel. A few pence more per litre for the Super versions of each. In old money, that means we are paying up to just about £7.00 per UK gallon!! I'm glad my car averages 65mpg... I don't know about overall, but for the last few years new car sales have been roughly equal petrol and diesel. There's also a few hybrids and electric cars knocking about but only in small numbers. All commercial vehicles (vans, trucks, buses, coaches) are diesel. Cheers Rog
  8. Very nice. Really like the brick built canopy and the classic town feel to the whole thing - and of course the usual high quality and detailed LT shop fittings and stock are the finishing touch! Cheers Rog
  9. Thinking of changing the mudguards to grey as the yellow looks a bit lost with no other yellow on the truck. The yellow was to try and stay in keeping with the original but I don't think it works. Thoughts?
  10. Thanks again for the feedback - It does help keep the development going!! I really like the Forest Fire Truck but unfortunately it's too tall for the garages. This meant a quick rebuild was in order to allow it to fit into the garages as I really wanted this in the fire station. This is the result: Cheers Rog
  11. Nice one! It's always nice when you get a personal response from a big corp (or Co-op in this case...)! While I have voted for others of your Cuusoo models, I haven't voted for this once as - although realistic - is a little plain on the outside. Probably makes the inside even more impressive as it takes you a bit by surprise but the outside just doesn't do it for me... Cheers Rog
  12. Have to agree with LT about the tyres. Too low profile for a truck... Overall look of the truck is nice and the proportions are good. If I had to criticise (other than the tyres) I would suggest more variation in colour as too much of the truck is red. I think there should be more grey/black/etc for the mechanical bits, fuel tanks, exhausts, etc to make it realistic. Also, the mirrors look like they're mounted a bit low. I know it's tricky because of the way you've designed the flush glasshouse but they look too low to me. It also needs more lights... Cheers Rog
  13. Thanks LT! Means a lot coming from you! Need to sort the staff out next... Cheers Rog
  14. I thought it was a nice touch too... Thanks for the continued positive comments guys. Some more updates this morning: This is the call centre on the top floor. Lots of phones and computers. Five desks for the call operators and then the administrator and the manager's desks by the back wall. Some flowers and a gumball machine to brighten up the corridor. On the wall there's a screen next to the clock showing the current call stats and department performance: Next along from the call centre is the conference room and the training/briefing room: And then the chief's office: The heli pilot's quarters are done too now. He has a bed for the night shifts, navigation computers and tools for the day to day running repairs and maintenance of the heli. He also has some spare equipment and a life jacket ready to go: Last up today are a couple of shots of the heli. This is essentially the heli from the Forest Police Station with the blue bits turned red. I have also added some firefighting equipment with a jet for fire fighting from the air (in true 1980s LEGO fire heli style!) plus a handheld extinguisher for fire fighting on the ground. There's also a department logo on the back: Cheers Rog
  15. Hi I promised an update now that it's the weekend: First up the interior of the reception area: Out the back the car park is done as is most of the garden. I will be putting a BBQ in the corner too. One of the three grey windows on the ground floor is now a door so there is pedestrian access to the compound: On the roof I have turned the staircase exit into a proper little room. This is where all the comms equipment is now mounted and will be the heli pilot's quarters: And the current view of the whole building: Cheers Rog
  16. Well said! People that are citing violence and even homosexuality as reasons why this can't be done are barking up the wrong tree. LEGO wouldn't be supplying actual blood and gore any more than they do in any other licensed theme. Violence and sex (straight or not) is inferred through what people have seen in the films and on TV not through the toys themselves. Cheers Rog
  17. Thanks guys - and with the weekend fast approaching there'll be some more updates. Reception interior, garden and top floor interior all on the way... Cheers Rog
  18. I don't know why people keep saying that the Simpsons won't happen because it's too risqué or too violent...?? Let's look at the other licensed themes for a moment - The Avengers, POTC, Spiderman, Star Wars, etc all have their fair share of violence not to mention a good smattering of innuendo and jokes which are in there for adults to get which will go over kid's heads. Whether the Simpsons is current enough is a fair argument but in no way could it be considered inappropriate! Cheers Rog
  19. I love the Simpsons. I love LEGO. I love LEGO town based sets (Town, City,Friends, whatever). So I for one would welcome this and hope there may be some truth behind it. It also means we would have a licensed theme with yellow minifigs! If it is a misunderstanding or a wind-up then no harm done but I will be keeping my fingers crossed... Cheers Rog
  20. I can understand your point however it was always going to be an ongoing project that was going to grow and develop. It is interesting you make that comparison though because part of my inspiration (although no actual architectural references) was taken from the local county fire HQ which I pass when I walk into town for my lunch every day. This building is - you guessed it - a 60s square block... I'll see if I can find a photo... EDIT: found one: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/584321 Cheers Rog
  21. The quote in my signature is actually a quote of Homer Simpson. It's so wrong it makes me smile everytime I read it! I have a heli done and ready for the pad on the roof. It's baically a re-colour of the heli from the forest police station. Cheers Rog
  22. I used to work in a depot that had no pedestrian doors on the back and you used to raise and lower the shutters to go in and out and was kind of copying that. That said, I might stick a door on the back of reception though... Cheers Rog
  23. Thanks! Now I've got to do the interior of the side building (which will be reception) to the same standard! Cheers Rog
  24. Thanks. I'm really pleased with the colours too but I can't take credit for the water dispenser - it's an original LEGO design! Thanks dude! Appreciate the comments. Cheers Rog
  25. Really nice and the bookshop in particular looks great. Looking at the Barnes & Noble decals on the front of the shop I would say they have worked very well and look like printed bricks. I also really like your aircon units on the roof - and will be pinching elements of the design if that's OK with you? Cheers Rog
