  1. I would give the entire Lord of the Rings line (excluding the Hobbit) a B. I enjoyed everything that we got. The minifigures were really detailed and the exclusive molds for Sting, Gimli, Uruh Hais, and the One Ring were particularly nice. Yes, I would have liked more. But I am glad that I bought all the sets. Most license do not get as good of a turn as LotR. When I first heard that there had been a Last Airbender line, I checked them out. There were only two sets and the detail on the minifigs are terrible in my opinion. Indiana Jones is a line of a similar size as both Hobbit and LotR but it only has one protagonist instead of tons like Middle Earth.
  2. Minifig selection throughout this line is a collaboration between Warner Brothers and LEGO. However, for promotional ones with DVDs, I would expect the WB Home Video as well as possibly Target has a say in the final selection. I would have expected LEGO to do sketches of several characters and have discussions with the other stakeholders. If so, I wonder what the other options would have been. But make no mistake: the purpose of the promotional minifig is not to complete the line or give us a needed character. It is to sell more or higher dollar DVDs. I never bought the DoS discs. The minfig was a rehash for me. I am still not sure about buying the disc for Bot5A either. This Bane minifig does not motivate me. I suspect some marketing guy at WB Home Video or Target thought it would get little kids to pressure their parents to buy it. For AFOLs though it is a loss. I only lack The Lonely Mountain and now this Bane exclusive to have a complete Middle Earth collection... and yet I am having trouble finding any excitement to complete it.
  3. Lincoln and Shakepeare came from the Movie. The others predated the movie.
  4. I picked up the Battle of the Five Armies set just to ensure I don't miss it.
  5. Yes, those three are the best actual builds. I bought every LotR set, but most of them are scrapped for MOCs or just better storage. I will never scrap Helms Deep or Bag End. I still haven't built the Orthanc, but once I do, I am never taking it apart.
  6. I would by it. I have four Uruk Hai Army sets. I didn't bother to open the last one but I still have it if I need it. Of course, that set disappeared from around here well over a year ago.
  7. I have never seen the Smaug set in the wild. Only once did I see a Battle of the Five Armies set and I did not buy it then. There is a good chance that I may miss the two biggest sets in this wave. Oddly, that thought does not bother me too much. But if they linger longer, I will get them.
  8. I believe she means Simpsons Series 2 is after Series 13. But I am sure we will get a Series 14 after that.
  9. Congrats to the winners. The builds are very impressive.
  10. Intriguing. Thanks again Cop Mike.
  11. ^ square eggs even. I rather liked that last year.
  12. Here is a MOC I created with Eowyn using the Galadriel torso. I believe I used a head and hair from a Pirates of the Carribean minifig. I am really poundering buying a light box to take better photos of reviews and MOCs.
  13. Steampunk Doc, I will make that trade. Sinner said that Flash likely has his regular helmet. Cop Mike only used that in the pic because the helmets had not arrived yet. When I get Prize D, I will PM you for your address. Thanks for the trade.
  14. The new Hobbit sets never made it to any of the Walmarts I frequent. Only the two smallest sets ever made it to a Target or the Toys R Us that I frequent. I don't expect this wave to last long.
  15. I won and my entry was the one showcased for the day. I, too, wouldn't mind swapping prizes after they ship, but I think that should be discussed on the trade board. I started a post for everyone to use if you want.
  16. Winners of this raffle can trade our prizes as long as we do it after we receive the prizes from CopMike. I won Prize D which is a great prize with The Batman from the $200 Tumbler set. I am looking to trade it for Prize F which has the Joker. This thread is can be used by anyone who seeks to trade their prize. It does not need to be limited to my trade attempt.
  17. IDEAS could have rejected the project early on but opted not to. That is a good sign but it does not mean that there are not any licensing issues that hamper the changes of the project. I am glad for the good sign though. Thanks for the quote Bycougars. I think we are all rooting for you.
  18. Very nice. Thanks for the explanation.
  19. That is a nice pier but how does the lantern attach to the pier? I would not expect a stud underneath the black cone.
  20. That is how it worked last year. I also recall last year many American winners did not include their complete address. We generally don't include the country line for domestic mailing.
  21. While there might be discussion still going about sets that might be useful or even IDEAS projects, I think the best thing would be to unpin this topic. Once that is done, I think it will die on its own.
  22. Lots of great mini-builds. Great work, Yooha.
  23. Shiny. I got the CMF Pharaoh from Bricklink in time to oversea the Egyptian Warriors I will amass in the next series. After all, I need a worthy army for my Romans. Recently I got the last Lake Town set. I still need the two biggest Hobbit sets from the last wave to complete my Middle Earth collection.
  24. Category A: #2 #6 Category B: #1 Category C: #3 #4
  25. i like the disco diva. The print is good. I can really use the roller skates and the hair. But it is not even in my top 5 out of this series. The Lady Cyclops, though, I really dislike. I don't think I could even reuse her torso print with an orc head. Otherwise there might be usefulness there. Still there is someone somewhere who likes each of these.
