Whoa, you did an amazing job! I really like the ship's shape, colour scheme (especially the use of the various brown colours), the amount of detail and the sails. And my compliments on the photo editing, I know it can be quite hard to do it right and you need a lot of patience for it, but you did really well!

Very nice MOC! Somehow it reminds me of a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean 4 where Jack Sparrow flees from the King's court.

Stunning galleon! Good to see you beeld it in real too. The variety in brown colours and black works really well and the coloured parts make this ship look very neat. Congratulations!

Lovely build! I especially like the front of the ship... haven't seen the technique before and it's good to see that it works . I am also very fond of those 'dark orange' textured bricks you placed as a floor in the gun deck... I think it's a brilliant idea: it adds a lot of detail and color variety... they are just like small wooden planks.

This is a magnificent build! And lovely to see all those scenes from the movie return in your MOC.

That's a really nice design! If you want to to turn it into a scene I would do this: change the colour of the carpet into dark red, add dark red to the throne (some silver or gold deatils would look good too imo), perhaps change the flour into a dark gray mosaic floor, replace skeletons by orcs and of course add a really big evil looking guy on the throne (maybe a bit ganondorf look from zelda). These are just a few ideas popping to mind, but it's your build of course! I like it as it is already and am looking forward to see what's coming.

Hi everyone, The ship is finished! It's soon time to close this topic and I will remove all the old WIP photos from my Flickr account... so in case you want to use some photos, I suggest you save them to your PC . New photos are already made and I am taking my time to edit them (backgrounds and such) and make them look superb. I also have to write a description to go with the photos. That's where I got a question for you: I am not really sure about what type the ship is called... is it a frigate? Greetz

Well Mr. Townsend, what can I say!? That's just outstanding! I love every bit of it: the details, the rigging, the sails and the flags. Awesome job

It's a shame indeed to see those fabulous pictures gone. I have downloaded a lot of them when they were still up to use as inspiration for my ship. But since it's not my work I can't share them here or on my flickr account. I think you'd best pm perfectionist and see if you can get an answer from him.

Whoa, this is amazing! Personally, I don't care that you spray painted it. The final result looks awesome and it's a great piece of art!

Anio, that's a great design once again! You did an awesome job there. You said that a pointlessly big model would look empty... maybe you are right, although I think a minifig-scale ship with many minifigures would look very lively. Anyway, I like the design as it is

entry 4: 3 points entry 3: 2 points entry 5: 1 point A great contest and great entries. May the best pirate win I awarded 3 points to entry 4, because for me this build has so many elements from official lego sets that are put very nicely together and yet it is original. The way the 2 sets connect to each other is just awesome. 2 points goes to entry 3 because I like the new style of the Imperial fortress ( a bit arabic influence there), the palm tree and it's harbor. And the ship looks very nice and I like it that you can 'sink' the ship. 1 point goes to entry 5 because it's build I would be very happy to buy as well. For me it has everything that reminds me of pirates: a cave, broken ships, water, palm trees and barrels! Awesome job everyone!

Woa, amazing! Bob, you should find yourself a spot in the design team for the new star wars movies

[WIP] Movie accurate cantina at full minifigure scale
Swan Dutchman replied to TheBear's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh, this is looking very good! I love the comparison pics. If you really want to match lego minifigures to the movie characters why not make the characters yourself? There's some nice tips and tricks in the minifig customizations workshop thread. -
The ship is named after Michiel De Ruyter. He was one of the greatest admirals the Dutch navy has ever known. Thank you! I got the idea of using metal wires while I was searching the internet for information about how to make cloth sails. I stumbled across a topic for model ship builders with techniques on how to make the sails appear to be wind-blown. It hasn't been used in Lego moc's before as far as I know, but it is an existing technique. Let's hope it works out just as fine as I have in mind . If it works on the sails I will also use it on a custom made flag (iron printed) to make it 'wave in the wind'.
