  2. Why don't you have one? I think I've heard you contributed a topic or two. Cinna's coming back in style! And who, pray tell, created the bladerang?
  3. Boomingham grinned. "I thought it might intrigue you. Haldor had quite a love affair with them, and while you know I'm still trying to fully grasp the geography from your region... well, anywho, figured they might interest you too. Ran into them on the street... though you'll be hard-pressed to find those particular two again... may have slain them or what not."
  4. Boomingham, Tesni and Cinna had apparently spent the entire night chatting. It was sometimes hard to keep track of time in the Hall. One could drift in and out of sleep while drinking ale and being warmed by the fire. Boomingham arose from another quick nap to see his table joined by yet another old female friend. "You're quite the hero magnet, Tesni. Everyone seems to want to have a word with you," Boomingham smiled wanely as he lifted his hand, indicating he wanted another ale. He listened to Alexis' woes. "You too? Seems everyone is on the brink of collapse. Did Althior refuse to fight Vampires and then side with the Wolfgang? That's what almost did Haldor in."
  5. There was the lucky effect I missed. Fixed. Also, the advantage of a smoke bomb is that, if you put the battle order correctly, you can all attack and then flee! Much like fleeing a battle.
  6. OoC: Alright, seems fair enough to me. Let's say you and he both called the same Knight, and he got so confused that he just left again. And the burn can hurt. All effects and special damage effects take place, all combat damage is blocked.
  7. I would go on that quest. Please host it. I really enjoyed the NPCs. I am a sucker for characters, being a QM gives me the ability to play a ridiculous number more. Keeping them different is a challenge, but at this point I have somewhere around 30 unique NPCs that I've played, and I feel they're all different enough, so I'm glad you share my feelings. TBW, I know you love the Frog Paladins. I'll make sure if I EVER really truly explore them more, Lycan will be there. I really do think High Priest Pylon will crop up at some point. Perhaps a side-quest centered around the Frog Paladins at some point. Poletad will appear in the final Wren quest and at least one of the Guffington Quests, maybe the Big War Quest I have planned will have a Frog Paladins side-quest?
  8. def wiped the floor with everyone and had a funny green "ha ha ha" icon every time he posted. Oh, elaborate on the ability? I think it was a day-time vig as well.
  9. Sylph made him a potion of some sort I think? It was explained in RP how he returned to his original form.
  10. OoC: We're trying to make this process tighter so you can all get back to the Hall and start on all the wonderful new Quests up! So, we may start running a little under 24 hours... also, we need to shift the time of updates so they stop being at 5 AM and I can actually help the others. Results of Round Seventeen of the Battle for Dastan: Heroes in the Throne Room: Alexandre le Chevalier v. Lord Lucan - Hit (21) Nyx v. XX - Shield Hit(SUMMON!!!!!!!!!) (([([13x3]+20)x2]x2)=236] (Check if this is right with your new ability... if so, your shield is no longer underpowered!!) Tarn Valco - Remedy on Atramor Tarn Valco v. Imperial Guard F - Miss Heroes in the Great Hall: Sarick Lanse moves to Throne Room Skrall moves to Throne Room Free Hits: Throne Room Free Hits - Sentinel Imperial Guard A v. Denerii - Invulnerable Effects: Poisoned - Imperial Guard A, C, E, F; Heavy Elite C; Sir Lamarok (-1) Badly Poisoned - XX (-10) Burned - Tarn (-2) The heroes rally behind Alexandre's shield and rain down hits against their enemies, who use this break to rally themselves and deal a different sort of damage on their enemies. As Edgar crawls out of his book and Nyx slams an outrageously strong spell into XX, XX burns Tarn and Lamorak calls forth a new Lion Commander. The Chaos Beast beats back Cronk. The heroes in the West Corridor seem unable to land hits, and the mutltitude of different burns and poisons take their effects. OoC: My vacation wifi is subpar to say the best, and is not allowing me to upload photos, so you know, view the above photos, but PRETEND Skrall and Sarick are in the throne room, and the number of Commanders has been upped by one. 11. Boomingham laughed heartily. "Oh, my dear Cinna, where have you been? So young and yet so wise. The young boys and girls of this hall seek honor wherever they can, but that's not honor. If you're not fighting for something that you believe in, then you're just fighting. You must be selective. Don't just step into a brawl for the sake of brawling. There's no brains in that! Make sure the reward is worth it so you may turn around and put that gold to a proper cause, or make sure the cause is just. If you sign-up for everything, you're no hero, you're a sell-sword. Of course, if the quests that are just happen to be the ones that pay most... that's just a lucky coincidence, isn't it?" Quest 38 Sign-Ups Althior (K-Nut) Alexis (Masked Builder) Johon (Bricksandparts) Christopher Daggerfall (Fred Fred Burger) Nagure (Costy) Dak (Darth Nihilus) Haldor (Scorpiox) Jess (Sisco) Alisha Mortek (Poison Ivy) Sylph (Dannylonglegs) Tesni Hightribe (Peppermint_M) If you signed up and do not see your name, is it possible that you forgot to bold your action?
  12. You have no idea. All three of them will be returning at some point, though I don't know exactly when or where. I think Russel and Pigley may show up later with Guffington, where they'd make sense, pinky promise. Russel MAY make a brief cameo in the final Wren Quest too, though that's already jam-packed with NPCs (...yes, I already have the entire quest minus stats planned out). Barkley will reappear as well, in a cameo or otherwise I'm not sure yet. And I'm glad everyone expected it to be longer! That's the fun of it. "The most trivial Quest ever," was my goal with it. Wonder if anyone will ever top it. BONUS MATERIAL: A potential alternative avatar for Pillus I considered for .2 seconds:
  13. Absolutely. That's why I only said 30 characters who effected him. He's seen and had brief conversation with a number more. Likewise, as you can see, I write down only general feelings towards the characters. I do not advise writing down all you know about them. Just general thoughts. Are they friend or foe, and do you trust them or not trust them, and how much if so. General feelings you would not forget, specific details are far more likely forgotten.
  14. Q41 - Response and Critique I had a ton of fun with this quest. Thanks for playing Adam and Siercon. I think you're ready to swim with the big fishies now. I'd recommend you to any other QM. You are both very good role-players, and you've got a nice grasp for the rules. Fair warning, they get more complicated, but if you keep reading older quests, and educating yourselves, you should be fine. Now, the question on everyone's minds - why? Yes, I know this was a short quest. A super short quest. I thought it would be funny. Maybe it's just me, but I think that we've had such a crazy increase in EPIC quests. Which is awesome, and epic, and I created a number of them. But I also wanted to do the ol' switcharoo. I thought it would be hysterical if, in the midst of Dastan and Proggs, a Crab and Pig asked heroes to help them find a Dog and Frog. It is probably the most common-place, smallest task I could think of. It was originally going to only have one battle (the final one) but when I changed it to a lvl 1 quest, I decided to change it to two, or else I thought I'd feel guilty for not actually welcoming the heroes to the mechanics enough. It also gave me a chance to intro some fun NPCs, and revisit the Frog Paladins, who are one of my favorite super secret organizations of the game. Who knew that Skrall interacting with that last minute set-piece in Q19 would spawn a whole organization. I think we may see Pylon some day somewhere. Anyway, I had a hoot with it. It was super short, super sweet, super fun. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Sorry if people thought it was going somewhere, but that was just part of the joke.
  15. Since notes and suggestions on Roleplay go here, I thought I should give a little suggestion to all players who are intrigued by the roleplay aspect of the game. This is a technique introduced to me by Flitwick, and it is actually, believe it or not, essential to good roleplaying, as I found out once I started doing it. It is even more important once the game progresses. KEEP A CHEAT-SHEET. Scenario: Character A and Character B run into each other at the Heroica Bar. Character A greets Character B like a stranger... only awkward, because these two were on a quest together before. IT HAPPENS. And it really dampens the mood for serious roleplayers. Boomingham, for example, has been changed by some of his fellow characters, and if one of them did not recognize him... how would i fold that into my roleplaying? It would be tough, and I personally as a player would feel bad about it. Now, there's no way for us all to keep track of each other and when we were last seen in our heads. We have to do it in real life too. Relationships are a ton to keep track of. No one is asking you to remember the last time you saw Guts and Cinna having a chat. No one is asking you to remember the last time that you and Hybros drank Flaming Gumballs. That would be impossible. Did you see Hoke before or after you went on that Quest with the Witch Queen? Should you tell Cronk about the Orc Rebels you ran into in Tyraid Park... or have you already done so, because you saw him after that quest already? Yeah, tough stuff to remember. And I found out early on that I couldn't do it. So, I made a spreadsheet. Boomingham has interacted with 30 characters that are worth him remembering. The columns on my list look like this: Name - First Met - Thoughts - Quests Been On Together - Last Seen And, a few examples: See how quickly I can refer to that. Some quick fact checks, and I'll know everything Boomingham really NEEDs to know about a character, and don't look like a doofus, and allow a relationship to remain consistent and logical. Just a suggestion. It's helped me a ton, it could help you!
  16. "Grand plans, I'm sure. I'm glad to hear they'll at least go to good use." Boomingham turns to one of his oldest companions. He had not seen the Nord since he had departed on his most recent quest, and even before that, they had hardly had a chance to catch up. Boomingham kicks a chair near him so that it skids away from the table slightly, allowing one to sit in it if they wished. The stunt works well, much to Boomingham's surprise. "Care to sit and drink, Eric? You're among friends."
  17. "The pound indeed! A rogue I may be, but a lord I remain!" Russel chuckles. "Interrogate him? Whatever for? We were hired to track down and kill Pillus, we did just that. Pigley and I will go to High Priest Pylon to collect our reward. We'll take Barkley along with us. Perhaps we'll be able to find him a new home! But first, we'll escort you back to your hall." It is another day of marching, but eventually the heroes arrive on the outskirts of Eubric. "Here is the 50 gold promised you. We'll throw in 12 of the gold that we took off Pillus. That brings both of your rewards up to 31 gold! Nearly more than we're getting from Pylon." "Some of that gold is mine!" "Taken in fair combat. Be thankful the heroes did not skin you and turn you into a fashionable hat." "Farewell heroes! Pigley and I will be in your debt if ever we meet again, and so will Barkley, even if he won't admit it." "I shall. A lord pays his dues. You spared me heroes, I shall not forget." Russel and Barkley set off. Pigley lingers for a few more seconds. "Keep the two cowls, heroes, you deserve them. What are you off to next? Off to fight bigger better battles? Rid the world of evil? Ha! Never forget, heroes, we are but mere lights in the night sky. Best of luck. May our paths cross again." The grumbling pig sets off as well, and the heroes face the city, and the Hall that they may now officially call home. THE QUEST WAS A SUCCESS! The Party L'Oréal Diablo, Level 3 Rogue Power: 6 Health: 9/9 Gold: 41 Inventory: Scimitar (Longsword, WP: 3), 3 Potions, Bedroll, Tonic, Sylvania's Cowl (Artifact, Head Wear, Grants user Animal Talk) Siercon, Level 3 Mage Power: 6 Health: 7/7 Ether: 6/6 Gold: 41 Inventory: Staff of the Frog Paladin (WP: 4, Suitable for Mages and Clerics, on successful rolls, the user has a 1/6 chance of receiving "Amphibiannoc's Blessing, protecting them from damage the following round), Staff (WP: 3), Diamond, Bedroll, Sylvania's Cowl (Artifact, Head Wear, Grants user Animal Talk)
  18. That is quite literally the set-up item I have ready to be pictured at home. Apparently the Antiquarian or a friend of his has had a run-in with a Frog Paladin, and kidnapped their staff.
  19. I want a hollow blade so very badly. Go read my conversations with Gurnam in Q28. See what I ask for. Over and over again.
  20. I apologize if I've unintentionally high-jacked loot. I don't recall things as well as others. I guess great minds think alike? Of course, for Quest 39, I intentionally high-jacked loot. I agree not everyone should have every ability in the game, but with all this great loot out there, I think QMs put TOO MUCH thought into creating new unique items. I think we ought to reuse some of the cool items that have already been thought up! It would be game breaking, if we ALL had books of a thousand creatures (even though Edgar hasn't popped out his head forever) but there being two of them out there certainly wouldn';t be bad. I used a Frozen Sabre on purpose, just in case anyone was angry about their unique item having a replica. now they can't complain, because I robbed Boomingham of his uniqueness as well. Finally, Q39ers, I'd like to put the Quest on hold for a day or two, until I can get back to my camera. You're already about half of a way through, and I don't want to continue before I get to take the next pictures. If you really want to power onward, I'll edit them in later, but if you don't mind a pause, that's my preference!

  23. "Don't I ever. Seems my head is never on straight. I figured a while ago it was just meant to be crooked." "So, same old same old?" Boomingham says with a chuckle. "These gems... what have you got lying around, and are any of them up for a trade, perchance. I'm looking for a number right now myself. Garnet, opal, diamond...?"
  24. Boomingham clears his throat... Tesni has apparently forgotten that they were sharing a table. He pats her on the back. "S'alright, Tesni. I know what it's like right after you've returned from a quest. Hard to focus on anything. Need a good strong ale and some quiet time to recollect your thoughts. Seems these wretched quests always dredge up the memories you least want dredged up. You can tell me about your newest adventures when you get the chance." Boomingham prepares to leave the table, but plops right back down when he sees that they have company. He extends a hand to the young woman and winks pleasantly. "Greetings, names Lord Boomingham. I'm a friend of this dear lady with the dirt in her ears. Cinna, you say? You a friend of Tesni's? Any friend of her's is a friend of mine, especially if they share her great gift of beauty, which you seem to. I haven't noticed you around the hall, been away, or new to these parts?"
  25. Guys, we clearly need to introduce more tree stumps.
